The receptionist at this vet location is very rude. The receptionist (short, chubby) will act visibly annoyed and gives attitude if you start asking questions, as if it's not her job to answer them. The Dr and the assistant were the only professionals in this establishment. I wouldn't recommend this location unless they replace the receptionist since her rude attitude ruins the customer experience from the beginning. The receptionist makes the whole establishment seem unprofessional. read more

Please consider taking your dog to get groomed elsewhere if they have long hair. They shaved my dog after I told them I don't like her short! She was not matted because we brush her daily to keep her from matting. I reiterated that I don't like her short please to not shave her and they mentioned that they noticed she is brushed daily because she was not matted. They do not listen to your request and butcher your dogs hair read more

The grooming staff is unnecessarily rude. I called to tell them there was an accident on the highway and would be late for my appointment, but when I finally got there with my dog, 10 minutes late, they said I was too late and had to reschedule. Their attitude was rude, snarky, disrespectful and they obviously did not want or like customers who are late. So now I take my dog elsewhere for grooming. read more

We had our 6 month old puppy's nails clipped and buffed at the Petco on Pearland Parkway. Robin did a phenomenal job at keeping our boy Max calm. His nails looked great when she was finished. Will use her again for grooming! read more

My 94 y/o father took his Scotty in for her scheduled grooming. He had taken her there 3 times previously without a problem. They said he needed to have his proof of vaccinations before they could take her. He said they had not told him he needed to bring it with him again this time. He said the groomer was rude to him when he asked to leave the dog to run home and get the paperwork. He became flustered and canceled the appointment. He is a 94y/o WWII vet guys! Come on!! I called to see if I could bring the dog in and found they had deleted his account and none of the groomers will take his dog. I understand the need for vaccine records. I do NOT understand the need to be rude or impatient with an elderly veteran. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

This rating of for the KONG toys, I have a medium sized dog (40 pounds) and within 5 minutes, no exaggeration, the toy was completely torn apart. For a company that sells "tough" and "high-quality" toys a 17 dollar toy should not break within 5 mins. Very disappointed. read more

If there were an option for 0 stars, I would hands down give it to the team that handles grooming at this location. I will never step foot in a Petco again. First off, During the COVID-19 outbreak they are only offering "essential" packages which coincidentally only includes a full spa package-a great way to make money during a pandemic I'll give them that! Keep up the entrepreneurial mindset, I'll keep in mind that a blueberry facial is essential for my pets health! When making an appointment and reviewing all the details of my dog including his breed, weight, and age I was told that my dog qualified for the introductory puppy package that costs $25! I went back and forth with the employee about how great of a deal that was and reiterated his weight, age, and breed! When originally getting off the phone, I was so excited because the employee I spoke with was incredible professional and kind over the phone (don't get excited, it was all a show!) Upon arrival, I was asked yet again his weight and age and then told that it would be $37 for a bath and $25 for the add-ons which I was originally told are all included in a $25 intro package. Let me be clear, I have NO PROBLEM spending that kind of money on my sweet GoldenDoodle, he is worth every penny. However, I refuse to give my business to a team that will lie on the phone just to get you in the door and then act as if nothing was done wrong. I'm fully sure that this has worked on others because hey, you've taken time out of your day, you already had this planned, your pet NEEDS to be groomed! That's not going to work on me, there are plenty of other businesses that offer the same services, and better yet take care of their pets as well as the owners! When I asked how it went from $25 to pretty much $60 the employee said it didn't. Two employees decided to stand behind her for backup. I'm pretty sure $25+$37=62 but Petco must do math just as wrong as they do their customers! When I asked why they lied on the phone, they said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do. I recommend you ensure your team knows what they are talking about when they answer the phone, although I'm pretty sure they do and are just lying to get people in the door. I also recommend that you don't say you don't know who booked the appointment when you know it was you. I could close my eyes and know that the person I dealt with at the counter was the same seemingly kind professional I spoke with on the phone. Lastly, When you have an upset customer, don't crack a sarcastic "have a nice day" when she walks out the door. If you've read through this whole review, I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere to ensure you AND your pup are taken care of. read more

Absolutely pitiful customer service! I ordered an item late in the afternoon and drove over in the evening to pick it up. The first associate passed me off to a second associate who then told me that they "meant to message me earlier that the item is out of stock." He proceeded to enter that information into his handheld device and seconds later I received the notification. Totally inexcusable in my book. read more

Stay very far away from there grooming salon!!!! I decided to start taking my almost one year old doodle that I adopted at the age of 7 months here since it was close to home and boy oh boy to I regret this decision. The first appt was not bad accept they immediately told me they had to shave his snout all the way to the skin because it was too matted. They weren't even going to attempt to try and save some hair. So I was like ok fine whatever. When I picked him up after him being there for 4 long hours he looked like a full blooded poodle. Second go around I just got him a bath, conditioned and trimmed around paws eyes and private areas. When I picked him up Ariel the groomer stated he was getting aggressive and tried biting her when she was cleaning his ears and that if it continued to happen they would not be able to see him. Ok I get it but strangely he has never ever bitten the other groomers we used or us. Mind you he was there again for over 4 hours when this happened. Today I take him for his third appt and I honestly had a bad feeling from the start and should have went with my instincts to not take him! I took him in at 12pm his appt time, I asked if he would be ready by 5 because I had an event to attend at 6 and anything after 5 is not going to work for me. 12-5pm that's 5 hours to get him bathed and groomed!!!! I get a text at 4:15 that he will not be ready at 5 then I get a call at 5:15 that he tries to bite Ariel the groomer again and she cannot finish his groom and he can no longer be seen there. What???? Why is my dog still not finished after 5 hours and 15 minutes???!!!! Like this is absolutely not ok!!! No wonder the dog is getting aggressive and trying to bite you!!! He has been cooped up with no food and no potty breaks! What in the world has this groomer been doing for the past 5 hours with my dog!!!! When I get there to pick him up his head is bald, which ok I knew his head was matted and again there answer is to just shave the hair all the way to the skin. Half his legs are shaved and he has long hair above his eyes still which looked like eye brows! I'm still trying to figure out what Ariel was doing for 5 hours and 15 minutes with my dog!!! I'm livid at this point and honestly I would have tried to bite her too after five hours of nothing!!! Ariel should not be grooming any animals!!!! This place should not be open or aloud to be in business! The employees think and act like their shit don't stink. I did not have an encounter with the salon manager but I have heard her on the phone with customers and have seen her interact with customers and she is plain rude and has no customer service skills! She should in no way shape or form be a manager! The store manager who was on duty was very nice and understandable of the situation and had no idea my dog had been there for over 5 hours. I was hotttt and very loud and mad but I did let her know it wasn't her I was upset it. She handled it like a champ and I do applaud her for that! Please please please do not take you dogs here to be groomed!! This place should not be in business with the horrible customer service they provide to the animals and their humans!! STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

One of the groomers was extremely rude both times i went in. She doesn't seem to want to do her job just wants to turn you away or shave your dog completely. I wish i had gotten her name. She even threatened to take me out of the system so that i couldn't return in front of the manager. She has no customer service skills and I'm highly disappointed. She didn't treat the white customer behind me the same way. Racist trailer park girl. read more

It was my first time taking my 4 pound yorkie, it was the worst experience ever! The staff and management was so unprofessional, I paid for a package for my dog that included a haircut, nails and ears. I picked up my dog the same way I dropped him off, they still charged me the same amount $80. And they did not gave him a haircut. It's ridiculous how they even tried to explain why, they said I should have brought him on a weekday because they where to busy to handle him. But not once did I receive a call to let me know it could not be done. They are inexperienced and rude. read more

Worst service with a rude attitude. Gave my dog the worst cut of his life. Got a call while my dog was getting groomed that he had an ulcer and immediately needed to be picked him up. I really love this location. I take my dog, Hero, here once a month to get his bath and all around cleaning and he LOVES it. Everytime we drive up to Petco, he knows exactly where he is and he's running to the groomers. I love that the groomers know who he is and its important to me that he's comfortable with them as well! Hero is a french bulldog/Pekingese mix so he does have short hair which means he doesn't really need to get groomed so I'm not sure how to review actual grooming. My 5 star review is for the customer service itself. Retail wise, we get all of our pet supplies here and I've never been disappointed. Needless to say, everytime Hero and I come, we both leave pretty happy and with a bag of cookies. read more

Poor customer service. District manager very rude. The neighboring store restroom was out of order for about 5 days and the employees would go to use the restroom. He stormed over to the store making accusations about the employees trashing the bathroom. Made a big scene I front of customers. This is not how you handle a situation. This is unacceptable. read more

I ordered 3 items for in store pick up, i could have picked home delivery but I thought it would be good to go pick it up since I was going to already be in the shopping center. They had one item ready but told me to check back on the other 2. After two weeks of waiting, I called and they said my order was picked short, that my two items weren't in stock. So I guess that means they just canceled it and didn't care what i did. So I ordered on Amazon and will never go back to petco again. read more

My dogs recently just got back from being groomed and while picking them up my dad noticed my dog was limping. When he asked the groomers why, they said she fell off the table (mind you she is a large 12 year old golden retriever). Never was anything mentioned about her falling before he brought it up. We brought her to the vet the day after when her limping got worse and she was put on pain medicine. She also has a large scrap on her leg from falling we didn't notice before. They did pay for her vet visit but to think that if my dad didn't catch it before she left we would have been stuck with a vet bill because they "thought she was fine." read more

Very unhappy with the way my groomer appointment was handled. The manager, Kate or Katelyn canceled my appointment. I literally had taken off work to get my pups haircut. Apparently my dog's hair was too long (the reason he was there for a haircut) and he was a small dog and not an extra small dog so the groomer wouldn't have had enough time to complete his appointment. She lied and said the system allowed me to setup the appointment because I selected "extra small" instead of small. I went back through the Petco app and made the update to a small dog with long hair and the 3:30pm time slot popped up again. Whether the dog has long hair, short hair, matted hair or straight they should not offer time slots if staff will not be allowed time to complete the cut. Petco should specifically note on their site that if the dog's hair is long, matted and larger than extra small to book an early appointment. The manager even said my pups hair was matted, which was a complete LIE. He has a small matted area under his chin which could be complete cut off, hence us bringing him to the groomer. Terrible manager skills and terrible communication. read more

So we brought our dogs in to get groomed, a "spa package" and while one did receive a nice haircut the other seemed to have been bathed? But now has really bad skin flakes so either the shampoo conditioner they used wasn't good for her skin or they didn't bathe her. The biggest complaint is the nails. We asked for their nails to be trimmed and filed; yet looking at all both dogs nails they had only had the bare tips clipped, no filing or smoothing or anything. Nails aren't even cut evenly. Didn't even look like they touched the back paws. Gonna have to go somewhere else to get their nails actually filed down. read more

I went with a friend to get her a hamster because the last one she had one that she brought FROM PETCO it got sick and petco said she would be all better in a week and then they put her down with out telling my friend that they were. so today we went to petco to get a new one and my friend fell in love with this hamster she wanted so the lady got the hamster and drop it to its death my friend was devastated im NEVER coming back here and i hope the people that read this listen to me and not come to petco because it's truly the worst pet store i have ever been to and i do not support. This is not a good location for grooming. Apparently I can no longer book with this location due to my attitude and disrespecting the staff. I DO NOT go around disrespecting for the fun of it. I have a 10k dog that I only get nails groomed at this location. My dog is extremely hyper and on one occasion the groomer couldn't handle it. Instead of her voicing this she did the service and completely snipped off my pets nail to the point she was bleeding. I was highly upset but I never called anyone outside their name. I'm an adult I can curse out of anger but I NEVER caused a scene. The manager never spoke with me about the incident or called me to follow up. They did absolutely NOTHING to rectify the situation. Instead they added notes to my dog profile that I am banned. Which is ridiculous because of their mistake. I don't care either way but I thought it was extremely immature. instead of addressing the issue with me that day or even after you wait until it's time for me to book again and make up a lie so you don't have to deal with me. Kaitlyn the manager said it was nothing she can do. After I contact corporate I hope there is a solution to how they do business. read more

We were looking forward to trying a groomer close to our new home. When we arrived at the grooming register, we waited to check our dog in while several staff members looked on as we waited. We rescued our dog from a local animal pound, therefore I doubt he'd ever been groomed before. When the staff member came to check us in she did not seem to be very enthusiastic about it. Nor did the groomers working on the other dogs. We weren't expecting jumping jacks or anything, but felt they were kinda doing us a favor by checking us in. The staff member told us that she couldn't comb the tangles out and that our dog needed to be shaved down due to pain it might cause combing the "tangles" out. We really didn't see a whole lot of tangles requiring shaving him down but had no experience with this breed before and went with the staff members suggestion because we didn't want to cause any discomfort for him being that it was his first grooming. This was the worst decision we could have made. He was not only unrecognizable when we picked him up, he trembled for weeks after, and bled from scabs on his inner ears. After talking to our vet, ended up bringing him in for antibiotics and ointment for the ears. The manager we spoke to was very apologetic and refunded our money for the grooming. We were just disheartened with the grooming staff's attitude and care for the grooming. We definitely should have gone with our gut and went somewhere else, but did not. We have experience with Summer cuts with our other dog (Border Collie) and never had this experience at Petsmart in the 9 years we've been taking her there. She was also a rescue, and loves her groomer. As we were thankful to management for hearing our concerns, we will not be back to the grooming department and willing to make the drive to our other groomer. read more

We only had our pup's nails trimmed and smoothed, but our tech did a great job. Kenzie was much happier and we were too. Great job!

We gave this place so many chances because it was the closest to our house, but we will definitely find another pet store to go to for our future pet needs. The customer service when checking out is great and I never have an issue with any of the cashiers working there. This is not the case for the people who work for vetco and the grooming center. When we walked in for our appointment, I told them that I did not want a deworming included in the puppy pack because it was already done at a different place, and they looked at me like I didn't know what I was doing. The vets who work at vetco also seemed to not completely know what they were doing when handling my dog...I felt very scared when watching them administer a shot to my dog because by dog was obviously not comfortable yet as he didn't get a chance to sniff and get to know the vet.. it seemed like they just wanted to get everything over with. I also noticed that when the vet administered his bordetella medicine into my dog mouth half of the liquid spilled onto the floor and my dog didn't get the full dose... The parvo shot and the bordetella cost almost $100... There was much better service at the vanguard next to HEB and it was 3 times cheaper then this place... and the vets there seemed much more experienced and were much nicer to my dog. The second time we came to try vetco we just came for heartgard medicine, the vet saw my dog.. who wasn't barking and growling and said that they were not going to take his temperature because he looked like he was going to bite. I know my dog, and he does not bite easily. To try to help, my boyfriend and I were calming him down by petting him and talking to him, we were asked not to do this as he may "bite" us.. which left us confused because we've had our dog for half a year now and know how to comfort him. She still did not take his temperature, which was frustrating because we paid so much before. We just wanted the heartgard medicine. The third and last time we came to petco was for a grooming for not my dog, but my boyfriend's sister 's dog. This dog already has had a grooming at this petco before and has showed them his rabies shot record before. The appointment was at 10, and my boyfriend came at 10, from there he was told that there was no rabies shot record in the system for the dog. Which was no problem for my boyfriend, who was just going to drive home to get the shot record. The lady working at the grooming center told him to be back by 10:15. My boyfriend rushed to go home to get the record and came back at exactly 10:15.. and stood behind a person who was in line. Once the person in front of him was done, the lady working at the grooming center told him that he was too late and would have to reschedule... even the person who was in front of him defended him and said that he came at the right time but waited behind them. But he was still told to reschedule.. we will reschedule at a different store. read more
