This was my first time using this Petco location for grooming having moved recently to the Cutler Bay area. My groomer was Ivan Enrique and he did an excellent job with my standard poodle Forrest. I couldn't be happier with the results especially since his last haircut was done by me which left his coat uneven. He came out looking beautiful! I came to this Petco location when I needed a medicated shampoo from my pup. A competing pet store didn't have much of a selection however, Petco had a wide selection and exactly what I needed. I'm really impressed! Staff was friendly and helpful, but more importantly I went to get my dog's nails cut and they did a GREAT job! Perfectly short and took the proper time to do everything. This place is a mess. Super unprofessional. The employees were rude and rushing us. they closed at 9 but they were closing the store earlier because they wanted to go home. Tried buying an animal from them said they were allowed to give it to me because i need to fill out papers that took to long for them to stay. Lazinesss, super messy, horrible employesss. Will never be visting petvo again. Nothing like pet smart nothing compares to there customer service and professionalism. read more

I came by this Petco in Cutler Bay, because the one in Homestead ran out of cardboard carriers for cats. I needed one in order to take a stray cat to a vet in order to try a rescue. I called ahead and found out they had a few left. When I came inside I walked around 10 minutes trying to find one and then another 10 minutes to find an employee to tell me where they were located. There was only one employee at the store and he was at the register with a huge line. The poor kid was hustling trying to get everyone checked out while answering questions. I had to make the register line to ask him where the box was located. When I got to him, he had to stop checking people out to go get it for me and then rung me up. Can't blame him, he was doing a fantastic job considering he was the only one working at the store. I think no store should put any employee in that position. Still I got my box and left. read more

Had a terrible experience at this Petco location on Saturday October 24th, 2020, picking up our Yorkie after having Grooming Services. Filed a complaint with corporate, stll waiting on the GM to call. I will report back here, in the interim if you have had a bad experience or death of a pet after being groomed at Petco, speak up and stop this travesty from happening to your beloved pets. Today is 11/18/20, and after numerous and persistent requests to Petco Hq/Corp to respond to my complaint #13880164 hours before the death of our Yorkie and after being groomed at Petco, nothing but a reimbursement check of the Vet hospital! The store Gm was responsive in the week following the incident, now non responsive attitude is concerning and irresponsible. Unfortunately Petco's lack of follow up is cause for remedies we were intending to avoid. read more

Went to this location to buy a bag of food that was advertised as in stock on their app, but when we got there I was told they didn't have it. The 5 stars are for service and products. . However there is a new program called Vital Care. It's an excellent market strategy for Petco but before you sign up you must review it and decide it's convenient for you. Signing up is so easy that the cashier can do it. Canceling can't be done either at the store or even calling customer service. You need to call a special number and then learn it's impossible to cancel. And get your money back. If you sign up for one year you have to wait till next year to be free of it. Fair or not that's for you to judge but as I say beware because it has taken me two hours to just make sure it doesn't roll on beyond October 2024. And probably I will have to remind myself and them then. If this were one of those online things I would call it a scam. Because it's Petco I am going to refrain from using that term read more

Here is a picture of my Shih Tzu. The groomer does not know how to shape the face. When you call for an appointment they say it is $50 for the sanitary package that includes bath, nail trimming, trimming of face, feet, and Fanny. When it's time to pay everything is charged separately be aware. Not only is the cut around the face terrible but the charges came out to $75. The only reason I left a five dollar tip is because I had to pay first before they showed him to me. Very disappointed. Will definitely not go back there. read more

Richard went above and beyond to help me find a cat box for my cats and kitty litter. He showed me a special that Petco offers. Richard even brought my heavier item to the cashier. Richard is awesome. I wish I could say the same about Chris the cashier. I asked Chris if there were any discounts that applied to my purchase to which he said "no there are none " He was so absolute about his answer I asked if I could use a coupon I got from a competitor. Now I happen to go to Petco because they honor competitors coupons. Chris looked at me like I was trying to get away with something and said I'd have to show resounding proof of a coupon. He was super curt with me after that interaction. Prior to being rung up I heard him complain that that it was his breaking. I've never dealt with a rude person at Petco. Ever. I've been coming to this location for about 3+ years since moving to the area. I bring my Akita here for grooming and I've never had any issues. My dog comes back happy & smelling wonderful. They do a great jobI'm typically here at least once a month to buy food/treats and everyone is super friendly! During the pandemic they had great curbside pick up. I would order on my phone, pull up in my car, & they just put the stuff in my trunk. read more

I love the customer service at the store front. Very nice and always willing to help. In the grooming department it's a different story. Two weeks ago I took my Cockapoo and they had her for 7 hours. Keep in mind that 5 is the max. As I called, the lady said give her 20-25 min. Ummm NO! I told her on my way if she likes it or not. Another lady helped me as I arrived and calmed me down. She was really nice and apologetic. I will give them one more try but that's it. My dog did look beautiful but 7 hours is crazy. Basically they left her in the cage and attended to other dogs. They had her at 9:15 picked her up at 4:30. That is unacceptable. I am def going to clarify things on her next appointment. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I decided to bring my pet for grooming here because I've been shopping at Petco more than my usual Petsmart lately. I liked their pet food options. I made an appt online, confirmed, and when I got there I was told it would be 3 hours. I left my 20lb dog in their care, and 20 minutes later they're calling me to pick up my dog claiming he is aggressive. I know that is a complete lie, but let's just say he was...does the store not have a small muzzle so that the dog can get groomed? I will NEVER!!!! buy 1 thing at PETCO, and I plan to make it my life's mission to tell everyone I know not to shop their either. Your groomer Jasmine R needs training. Lets take a stroll through the store before I get to the meat and potatoes of my review. The store is tidy and well stocked and appointed. The employees are cordial and willing to help when you can find them. The cashiers are friendly and eager to assist. The Veterinarian is my only complaint about the services provided a Petco. There seems to be an ego issue where he feels he's too important to speak to pet owners directly so he sends his competent minions to discuss the condition and diagnosis of the pet. Which brings me to the point of this review. I've been bringing my Staffordshire here for about a year and a half for puppy-pedicures. Groomer Joanna was Calypso's groomer from day one. Every monday morning my dog knows we are going to see Joanna and is excited beyond belief. She loves and cares for my pup as much as I do and it shows. Joanna is superb! Conversely, I don't know why Petco insists on hiring people who cannot converse with customers on a basic level of English proficiency but there are quite a few. On one instance my dog was favoring a sore hind leg and I tried to communicate that fact to the attendee. She said si si si yo comprende and then proceeded on yanking my dogs sore leg to the side in order to cut her nails. I won't let anyone tend to Calypso again. If Joanna is off, I'll bring Calypso back when Joanna is there. read more

Everyone here is always friendly, willing to talk to us about any concerns we have, questions about product or services. They move quickly and the store is clean. There is always ample stock of whatever we need and they are quick to solve any concerns. An example that stands out: the sign was wrong for the sale item (not placed on the wrong item - the whole sign was wrong) - so wrong, in fact, the register would not even let them attempt to give me the deal. They figured out a way to do it in order to give me the item at what the sign said, they worked it out and apologized. No apology necessary - their willingness to even try to make it right would've been good enough. read more

Took my beagle Barro for his birthday today, and got him some cookies/ a bowtie (he loves wearing them) and a toy. Our cashier was super nice and told another gentlemen (I'm assuming the boss) that it was his birthday and to our surprise gave him the cookies as a gift! It was the nicest gesture and it really made me feel happy. Not about the cookies, just the thought of people caring. My Barro just turned 10 and has served as a K9 detector for 7 years and just retired a year ago. I think he deserves the world , just like any working K9 or human soldier/police. After many years of shopping at the Kendall Petco and being very happy, I tried this new one in Cutler Bay as we recently moved to the area. Sadly, Petco lost me as a customer today and I will not be back to this location. We had purchased a parakeet as a companion to one that we had found injured in the street. Unfortunately, the one that we found flew away and his little companion that we bought from Petco became stressed, was loosing weight, and would not let people touch him as he had before his companion left. We thought it would be best to return him to the store so he could be with other parakeets. I took him back to Petco, where I explained to the cashier the situation and even told him that we don't want any money back, we just want the bird to be happy. Well, he went and got the manager and things went downhill from there. She told me that they were not accepting returns right now due to the "COVID situation". I explained to her that I did not want any money back and that all I wanted was for the bird to be returned to his friends so that he could be happy again. She said she understood but that there was nothing she could do, that their return policy had changed and it was out of her hands. I think someone should inform corporate of this change in policy, since on their own website says that returns are still allowed and they have even extended the return window for items purchase at the start of the outbreak (see pic of Return Policy from website). I don't know if this particular manager (working noon on 6/16/20) was misinformed or just straight lying to me but the lack of compassion for animals they're supposed to care for is beyond concerning. I went 2 minutes down the road to PetSupermarket and explained the situation and they had no problem taking the bird in so he could be reunited with other parakeets and hopefully be happy again. I will be doing all my shopping at PetSupermarket from now on and I wished I had read all the bad reviews of this place before shopping there. Never again. I hope corporate sees these reviews and does something about it because there are just too many better options nearby - PetSupermarket and PetSmart are minutes away from this store. read more

Do not take your dogs here. I decided to take my dog here because it's close to home. I whole heartedly regret it. The staff was very neglectful and inconsiderate. I was told my puppy wouldn't take longer than 4 hours. It had been about 3 hours already so I called to see how she was doing and they said all they had done was wash her and they hadn't started her haircut because she did not like the "sound of the dryer" and that she was curled up into a ball in the corner and they wanted to wait for her to air dry. Then after another hour went by I called again to see if she was done and they said that she had peed on herself while she was balled up and so they had to wash her again. I then called after that to ask why she had been left alone for long enough to pee herself and why it had taken 6 hours for a haircut and they refused to answer. So I went to pick her up because I was fed up and the lady said "oh I managed to trim her underbelly and paws" so she could charge me for the "haircut" even though my dogs entire body was left untouched. I called the grooming dept. to ask a few questions and to schedule an appt. for my senior rescue cat. The call was answered in Spanish. I replied in English which seemed to annoy the woman right away. She was very short and harsh with me. I tried to ask a few questions, but she kept cutting me off (as if I was wasting her time). I was stunned by her rude and unprofessional behavior. I would never trust them with my pets if they can't even show an inkling of patience for the owner. I finally ended the call, after a few minutes, and promptly called the Petsmart near me in Kendall Lakes. Petsmart answered all of my grooming questions and made a special express appointment for my kitty. read more

I've actually been disappointed with this place almost every time I go. I keep coming back because they are the closest pet store to me but I only go if I have a coupon. They are usually very well stocked but they are overpriced compared to Petsupermarket and PetSmart. The staff (NOT the managers) are HORRIBLE. One time there were no carts in the store, so I asked the cashier and she told me "yeah, the costumers leave the carts outside, you can find one out there." I just looked at her and said "you know what, I'll just drive the extra few miles and go to Petsupermarket where they believe in customer service." Of course this was lost on her, I really should have spoken to the manager but I was in shock and just left. I didn't expect her to go get the cart herself but she could have called for help or just stated it in a much nicer way to me or been apologetic about it. I have also had other similar rude encounters with their staff. The managers on the other hand are the sweetest, dog loving people you'll meet. You can tell they really care but I think the managing style they are implementing does not work on the younger employees. read more

So this is the store we have been shopping at for 2 years now since we moved in neighborhood. Last week we bought our Maltese dog food which is a huge bag because this store only has the small bag and the $34 bag which is like 50 lbs. I opened the bag today and fed dogs. When my husband started pouring the food into our food container he noticed some stuff flying. As he looked in container he sees sticky stuff in food and when he looks in the rest of the bag it's full of maggots and it had some sort of sticky stuff. so now my dogs ate this disgusting food. We take the container and rest of bag back to store and show the manager and the stupid manager asked if we had a receipt? The bag is completely full!! No apologies, was not bothered a bit. Returned and money and didn't even say I'm sorry. This place is horrible. They are always out of stock on our salt water fish food. Their service is horrible and store is always dirty. then this happened. Done! Don't shop at this petco. Their pet food is old!!! One angry pet owner. I hope my dogs don't get sick. read more
