This is my go to Petco for my cat's food. If you have ever owned a cat then you will know that cats not only are notoriously picky eaters but they will suddenly stop eating a particular food that they have been eating for years. Just so they can irritate the heck out of you. This is one of the reasons I shop at Petco. (To be fair Petsmart has the same policy as well) But what sets Petco apart from Petsmart is they carry more higher quality brands than Petsmart. Brands such as Canidae, Solid Gold and Whole Earth Farms. I think Petsmart for the most part has good customer service. (Although as I have mentioned in one of my Petsmart yelp review I did receive terrible customer service at one location. I found what the sales associate did so offensive that I wrote corporate office and reported it to the store manager.) I've been to 3 Petco locations so far in the metro area and at all 3 locations I received consistently great customer service and met some very knowledgeable staff. So I think it's safe to say Petco may be doing better than Petsmart when it comes to customer service. There is another Petco but that's on the other side of East Piedmont (which later changes names and becomes Barrett Parkway) That location is a new Petco and is located near where the new Whole Foods location is currently. if the container said a certain count of quantities, and it container consisted of 65% of the amount claimed . I believe this is a false advertisement and a rip off. As customers are expected to pay dollar for dollar for the container with x amount that is supposed to be in the containers. ... I don't show up to the register with 65% of the expecting price!!! aswell I've called this store Barrett parkway location and literally told me their not gonna do anything about it. Absolutely terrible experience. Brought my dog here for his first groom and dealt with a punks kid with purple hair and gelled Mohawk. He was not friendly at all and didn't welcome my dog. Instinctively, my dog wasn't comfortable with this guy and the guy made zero effort to comfort my dog. He ended up calling me 1 minute into the groom saying they needed to abort the grooming. Do not patronize the grooming services at this location! I brought my 10 lb. dog to this location while Samantha was employed there. I followed her from another Petco location to this location ONLY because I loved her as did my pup. Her grooming qualities and patience were exceptional. However, I was called by the store because according to what was told to me, she walked out one day and didn't return; so my appointment needed to be rescheduled. I politely said NO THANK YOU! The store manager, Craig, at this Petco Prado location is a complete arse who doesn't need to be the manager of a McDonalds much less a Petco store! He lacks professionalism, courtesy, and has no customer service skills whatsoever. He banned my pup from ever using Petco grooming services because I challenged and questioned him on a policy he couldn't effectively articulate. As a result, I reported him to Petco Corporate HR. what I witnessed today was totally unacceptable! however owns a Chocolate Lab that had their fur baby to be groomed this morning by this location, just know they mistreated your fur baby, I tried to be a advocate for your fur baby! I really tried. I know at time when it comes to clipping the nails MOST DOGS DONT LIKE IT so you are suppose to make the experience the BEST positive Experience for the fur baby! when you noticed them being stressed and trying to bite that's a sign that they need a break! I witnessed the groomers as well as the "salon manager" holding this beautiful lab down you can clearly see the rope thing around its neck super tight! nearly cutting off air way while they try to clip the nails and he nearly bit the the salon manager who was trying to clip the nails and he moved his arm back while saying a few choice of words to the dog that's when I stepped in as the by stander and said "that baby needs a break he/she looks very stressed out and to avoid a possible bite or you hurting the fur baby, definitely give them a break" and the salon manager responds "we don't need your help we been doing this for years WE DONT NEED YOUR HELP GET OUT THE SALON" I tried to reason with him because he was being very disrespectful when I only offered friendly and helpful advice, he continued to be rude to me and I said I'll report to corporate! and I would never bring my dogs here to be groomed by you, they need more training proper trainer and a new leader! I just tried to book a grooming appointment at this location. I had previously used it once before. The man who answered the grooming line was dealing with another animal while trying to pull up the schedule of the groomer. He was rude beyond belief. Talking to himself about the difficulty he was having with the computer and the animal he was dealing with. I remained quite patient. After a considerable bit of time when he gave me his attention I asked if he could see my previous invorce so that I might know what services were performed and the cost. He proceeded to tell me this time the cost would be more due to my puppy's age. I told him it had been a month since the last visit. I was inquiring about the difference when he became irate... said he was canceling the appointment I had scheduled, removing my dog from the system and rudely said he did not believe this salon was for my dog! DO NOT take your dog to get groomed here. I brought my shih tzu here to get a hair cut by Diana and she cut my dog's inner leg so bad that he had to get sutures! She took a quarter-sized chunk of skin off at his groin, which she said got caught in the razor. I understand that mistakes can happen but this was INEXCUSABLE carelessness. My dog is traumatized after being butchered by this place, then having to be sedated and stitched back together. The store paid for the vet bill, via a vet of THEIR choosing but it's very little consolation after what my dog had to go through. It's been a horror story straight out of hell. But not to worry, the store manager advised me that they "coached" the groomer on the issue. So basically they did nothing and this woman is still there to potentially harm someone else's pet. This place isn't worthy of even one star. Steer clear of this place for your dog's sake. read more

I'm not one to leave a poor review. But I genuinely felt ignored. Sure I got a "Hi welcome to Petco" from a seated employee when I came in. But no one offered to help. Even when I expressed what I was looking for wasn't on the shelf and inquired to see if they possibly had more in the back, it didn't seem like they wanted to look or do anything to help, but I was told I could order it online. So I called the other store down the street myself and found out if they had what I needed. Turns out they did. As I was leaving all 3 employees on shift remained in the corner talking to one another just looking at me. Will not be returning to this location. Maybe some retraining in customer service and sense of urgency is in order. I'd hate to think one of those 3 employees was a manager. ‍‍ read more

We came today for the vetco clinic with our 2 bichons and our 9 month old doberman. The clinic hours were 1pm to 230 pm. We got there at 12:55 and waited in line until 1:30. As of 1:30 no one for the clinic had shown up and when I asked someone that worked there where they were she said she didn't know but someone should be coming any time. Very disappointed. It takes alot to get our 3 dogs anywhere let alone to a pet store and expect them to be patient and wait in line for a clinic that might or might not show up. Wouldn't recommend buying fish at this location. The tanks look disgusting the fish look miserable. I just purchased a betta form them yesterday that is suffering from fin rot that is so bad that half of his right pectoral fin is gone. Do not bring your dog here to get groomed! I dropped off my long haired chihuahua mix to get his ear hair and haunches trimmed and when we picked him back up it looked horrible. I mean seriously, it looks like they let a two year old take a pair of safety scissors to my dog. I could have done a better job myself. One ear has longer hair than the other, it's all choppy and they didn't trim his haunches down completely. It appears as If they just took an electric razor and got what they could. This was his first hair cut and I am so upset that it turned out poorly. What's worse is that they had us pay for it before they brought him out to show us so I'm pretty sure the lady knew she had done a hack job on my puppy. Honestly usually this location is fine but the ferret enclosure when I went today was absolutely disgusting. literally like 3 inches of poop all along one whole side. i understand these animals poop a lot and there's many in a small area - however you shouldn't sell them in the store if you're unable to clean when it gets dirty and take good care of them. it was rlly gross read more

Every time I've come in they always greet me with a polite and welcoming tone ! And briefly ask me do I need help and if I say nope they say great, if that changes let me know. No constant annoying badgering like at some retail places, if you have problem or can't find something they are super helpful and always willing to go the extra mile! Had a wonderful experience with a young man with short light hair super cool and nice!
