The customer service is fantastic! It was relatively busy and I needed to buy crickets for my lizard. An associate went out of their way to greet me and ask me if I needed anything. They assisted in getting me crickets and helped me find additional supplies for my lizards cage. Check out was quick and everyone I interacted with was very nice. The atmosphere was very inviting. I walked in to Petco on Monday April 14th 5:50pm I went to look at the beta fish like usual do. I noticed a red half moon double tail beta fish was dieing had black on his gills he was also floating at the top struggling to breathe. At first I went to ask a employee to maybe get a disscount for him to which the employee answered "Ya I can see he is dieing but I'm sorry I wish I can help you but I can't." that person was very nice like an employee should be but then I went to see if the cashier had answers went over there (fish in hand) and handed it to the cashier named _Bill_ and he said "here let me get my manger." The manger named _Linda_ comes over he asks her what I just asked. She replied with the meanist rudest tone ever, saying "umm no I can't do that, just pick a different one." Rolling her eyes at me. To which the cashier slams the already dieing in pain fish on the counter. I will not longer be going there I have been going there for a while there is only 3 employees that are nice. read more

I had seven puppies on 9/26/2023 and was providing vaccines for all seven puppies. I scheduled the 3rd appointment for the 2 puppies I was keeping with me. Another party just prior to my appointment who had taken 2 of the puppies went to Vetco in Longview, WA.  They transferred all my puppies medical reords to that person without my knowledge or permission. Now the only records I have say that my appointments were missed. My appointments were not missed, I just no longer have access to my pets medical records.  They were just taken away from me. I have been told that I would have my records restored, then was told the records would be merged and now am told too bad, they are not my records, they belong to the person they were moved to. These records were moved without my knowledge or permission and I am no longer able to access my puppies records that I have paid for. read more

To preface, my 7 year old Basenji, Chewy, is highly skittish and an inherently nervous Nellie. When I adopted him 4 years ago, he obviously had had bad experiences with grooming services and pet stores, scurrying away from the mere site of a Petco storefront. Similarly, it was very apparent he has had bad experiences with people touching his paws, perhaps from painful trimming or buffing experiences in the past, thus getting him to stay still while getting his mani/pedi is a nigh impossible task. But, the grooming staff at this Petco did a wonderful job in making sure my dog got his nails buffed to satisfaction while keeping a handle on my rowdy pup. I was really surprised at how calm he was after he was handed back to me - now, if the groomers hadn't told me that he was a bit rowdy, I never would have guessed it. It seemed that Chewy and her got along quite well. Which, in my opinion, takes a true pro to accomplish so fast. Kudos. While Chewy was getting his mani/pedi, I wandered the store looking for topical treatments to a little flea problem my poor pup was having. The staff were very helpful in answering questions and finding the best alternatives to the harsh pesticides otherwise known as "flea and tick treatments." They also kept me in the loop about the return policy in case the treatments didn't work. Lovely stuff. My furry friend's nails are trimmed despite his finicky disposition and the staff was quite helpful in aiding in my endeavors to find a natural flea medication (which, sadly, I have not been able to accomplish just yet). read more

I went in the other day for a pickup for cat food and went inside to pick it up so no one had to run outside and give me the bag of food I bought online, when I went inside I asked the first person I saw walking around doing nothing if they could help me with my order since I've never gone inside to pickup food I've bought online so I asked her where do I go to pickup my order and she looks me in my eyes and just speaks to me in the most rudest way she could and said she's busy and that I have to wait in line with everyone so I did with the other 20 people and one cashier but the line was so long and I was in a rush so I just called for my order to be dropped off at my car and guess who that was by the same lady who told me she was to busy for me. I believe her name was Mikayla she also helped me with grabbing more shrimp and I asked her then if she could help me take the shrimp up ask I didn't have a cart and was carrying two cat litter containers she didn't say anything to me after I asked so I followed up with why I needed her help and she rolled her eyes and said "ya I got it" everyone else is usually super friendly and helpful read more

Went in to use the vetco clinic for my 2 pups, we scheduled appointments for them both. We were told that we had to wait outside and not enter the business till we were called which is fine. After both appointments ran nearly an hour late we asked if they forgot about us and the lady refused to help us in a very rude manner. We were told to keep waiting until they called with no additional information. Eventually we didn't get a call but instead a text message. Separately they apparently lost one of our pups documents and history resulting in a longer appointment and possible increase in prices. We furnished our own and got the correct price but the vet was overly angry too. Very unprofessional clinic. Repeat business most likely not going to happen. read more

Petco definitely has it pros and it's cons they have great prices when comes to getting a pet reptile 0 and great prices on others pets but they are terrible when it comes to getting a pet fish. They say the worst things when it comes to getting one. They just tell you it's gonna die if you buy the fish and the tank the same day which isn't true I've had many pet fish and that has never been the case they're very difficult if you want one and just say a bunch of stupid answers when it comes to fish they give good input in certain things but certain parts are just total crap specially when it involves fish. If your not a Marine Biologist you're not an expert on sea life don't listen to everything they say there about Marine Biology. Most of them are just idiots and don't know Marine life and are pretty much just saying things to keep you from buying. read more

The only reason I gave this place 1 star is because there isn't an option for ZERO! I usually visit Petco once or twice a year, just to see what they have. EVERYTIME I leave I wonder why I have come back. Their prices are more expensive than the local pet store, their staff usually have NO idea about anything pet wise . It is VERY hard to get anyone to help you if you need it. Their fish are very unhealthy, the ones that arent trying to stay upright because they are dying are chowing down on the death corpses of their former tankmates. They also put chemicals in some of their fish tanks, or sell fish treated with chemicals, like their female guppies, to make them more colorful. This is unnatural and shortens their lifespan and makes them more likely to get sick. There is little upside to shopping at this store, unless you are in the mood for a good disapointing. read more

This place really had no animals for my kids that were even close to what they advertise. No ferrets, not hamsters, no cats. And my kid has been asking for one of those animals for her birthday for a while,now and they didnt even have anything. My wife, daughter and I went into Petco hoping to get two goldfish for our young daughters. They were so excited to bring them home. We had a plan of getting a traditional fish bowl, an experience I had growing up with much success and much happiness for all our goldfish until they got big to move into our fishpond. We had the same hopes. Nevertheless, the fish guy (apparently the manager) refused to sell us two goldfish because we didn't upgrade to a larger tank with all the amenities and told us the fishes quality of life would be poor. Here they are swimming in masses in a single tank waiting to be food for bigger fish...Our daughter left crying because she didn't get her goldfish and no sympathy from any of the staff. It was clear commission was of much greater importance than customer service or the quality of life of their fish, as we would've provided a loving and caring home. read more

So it has taken me a few weeks to get an appointment for my dog to be groomed and I finally get one only to be told that my dog "barks too much" and they can't do it. Seriously? A dog grooming place can't handle a barking dog? Never again for grooming or pet supplies. read more

Called in 1st to the dog groomers to make sure whether we needed an appointment or if they accepted walk ins, and if they were busy at the moment or not. They said walk ins only and to bring my dog in. So I drive all the way across town and they say because my dog is so big that it will take up two time slots, and another customer came in behind me and she said that they are to busy now. So we left and came back an hour later for the "appointment." She took my dog back and I asked about how long, and she said about 15 minutes. WHAT? You put customers before me who came in after we were already there because you needed just 15 minutes for my dog? On top of that, they did a poor job and she was still covered in hair afterwards. A total of 15 minutes spent on her, two trips across town, and charged me for double time. Took my dog to Fluff n Puff on Ocean Beach Highway and they did a spectacular job on her. Furthermore, online Petco has terrible customer service. I ordered some bird vitamins on repeat delivery, and when I got them, they were EXPIRED. So their resolution was to charge my bank account for the new vitamins, then request a refund for the 1st bottle. They took it out before the refund came in, and it resulted in an over draft fee. When I contacted them, they told me the charge on my account was 100% legit and it was a repeat delivery and NOT a replacement. This went on for an hour, even the manager was clueless. Originally they charged me $5.35 which included a 20% discount on my 1st repeat delivery. But when they charged me for the REPLACEMENT for the expired vitamins they sent, they charged me $1.21 MORE! INCOMPETENT. These are not the first encounters I have had like this with them, this is how they operate. They need to train their associates better and pay them better or something because this company stinks. If we had more options with comparable prices I would drop Petco instantly. In the local store they are friendly enough minus one guy with a bad attitude one day but people are human so you cant expect people to be robots. Most of them are very nice and friendly. So I like the people at the store, I just think communication can improve and the grooming thing I just cant even figure out what the heck though. Worst customer service ever. Went into get some fish, looked around then went to seek help. Someone stalking dog food was too busy with that to get me help or just help herself. Asked for someone to be paged up at the register. Someone was paged... 15 minutes later, no one showed up. Went back up front where I was ignored for 5 minutes, then asked for help again and informed them no one showed up. The dog food girl then stated "Anthony" will come help me... I went back to the fish, no one showed up for another 10 minutes before I finally just gave up. Apparently it's no ones job to help a customer or no one even works there. That's the last time I will be going to Petco. read more
