Note: The address and location shown for this Petco is slightly off. It's at 1401 US-183 in Leander, at the intersection of the old 183 (not the freeway with tolls) and Crystal Falls Parkway. I'm a Petco fan. This is a clean, well-organized outlet of Petco, and I've heard good things about its grooming department. Myself, I can only attest to the quality of the available pet goods and plants, as that's what I buy. The other nice thing about this particular Petco is that it's a bit of an 'outlier' compared to the other outlets closer to Austin. That makes it a little less crowded, and generally it's easier to find staff if you have a question. Worth a visit if you have pet needs that can't be answered elsewhere! Pro Tip: If, like me, you shop for a live catnip plants, be sure to call before you show up. Sometimes they get a shipment in from a greenhouse, other times they won't have it available.

OMG I wish I could give 10 What a AMAZING job they did on my dog. Casey came home so happy, and absolutely gorgeous.

Ask for Mary! I dropped the pups off to be groomed with much anticipation. It's been a while since the last visit. I took one of them there in early November but didn't return. It's not that the groomer (not Mary) did a bad job, I just didn't return and can't remember why. Anyway, we returned and I met Mary. She is knowledgeable and professional. We discussed hair lengths and styles that I wanted. She's a good listener, too. While grooming them, she texted photos (yes, she asked for permission in advance) so I could see how they're doing. They looked relaxed, and I could tell they were enjoying the pampering session. They were ready in 2.5 hours which also was ideal. I don't like them sitting in a kennel for hours. As I mentioned, Mary is a good listener. She cut their hair the way I requested. The boys look fabulous and will be back!

A dog with curly, light-colored fur is lying on a dark wooden floor near a person's legs, with a wooden table and some boxes in the background.

just wanted to say that my dog was told that he could never be groomed here again because he was biting the groomer. My dog has gotten groomed at petco for the last 2-3 years, and have always gotten a positive report back, if anything they love my fluff ball ! but when i got the call that the leander location could not continue his grooming due to his biting i was shock, when arriving the lady with blonde hair was quite rude about it and basically threw my dog over the counter at me, and rudely said my dog wasn't welcomed and left him extremely patchy and ugly :( the lakeline location is the best location to be at!! they always welcome bandit and leave him the. eat they can every time. I added two pictures, one that how he was left today and was still dirty and the second one is how the lakeline groomers did. HUGE DIFFERENCE. My dog does not bite, he doesn't playfully bite, but you'd have to really really provoke him in order for him to bite you. PAMELA WAS HER NAME. SHES BEEN RECEIVING A LOT OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS. PETCO DO YOUR THING, AND STOP THIS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! (just the leander location)

This is what he looked like before going to Petco - A small dog with black and white fur, wearing a red plaid bow tie, stands on a wooden floor and looks directly at the camera.

Okay, if you're going to have your schnauzer groomer at Petco in Leander make sure you ask for Lyssa S. She was kind enough to call me back and offer to fix TicTac's cut for free. He'll need a few more sessions to get his cut back to normal but I appreciated Lyssa's follow up and dedication. I'll post updated pictures of TicTac next week after his grooming appointment.

I used to take my puppy Standard Poodle to another grooming establishment and was NOT happy with the service. There was too many people and she was pretty skittish around all the excitement. She also came back with a terrible job of a haircut. They said, "She wouldn't sit still." I was so done. My neighbor has been using Petco and told me to give it a go. I booked an appointment with Dale for a haircut. OH. MY. WORD! The calm environment and the personal care and attention to her, it was like night and day. She was calm and a perfect angel. Bows in her hair, nail polish on her nails, a bag of dog cookies. What customer service. I highly recommend Dale or any of the stylists there for their awesome friendliness. I've been going there for almost 6 months now. Thanks Uncle Dale!!

Unleashed Unlimited Dog Training

We moved to Leander in May and after checking out several training and daycare options, we found…read moresomething truly special at Unleashed Unlimited. Our pup Li'Li completed a board and train and now continues with daycare and private lessons... and she absolutely LOVES it there. We have tried another board and train and it hardly moved the needle... the key is that Unleashed trains the pup AND me! I needed to learn how to communicate better with Li. Li'Li used to be extremely skittish and afraid of people - particularly men, but thanks to the calm, confident, and compassionate training from Paul, Avery, Abby, and the entire team, she's become more confident, joyful, and open to people. The transformation is remarkable and deeply heartwarming for me as her mom. What sets Unleashed apart is not just their exceptional skill, but their genuine care and positive, no-drama approach. No yelling, no intimidation - just consistent, respectful, effective guidance. It's changed Li'Li's life and mine, too. She loves going back every few days and excited to see the staff and her furry-friends. Their fees are super reasonable, but the results? Truly priceless. I can't thank the Unleashed team enough and I recommend them with all my heart. Thank you for making our family's life significantly better.

This review is about additional services they sub out. Short version, it's completely inept…read more Performative theater. Zero effective training techniques observed. Go elsewhere. TL;DR If their dog training services are as decent as some of the reviews imply, the snake wranglers clearly know nothing about dog training, and why they would allow their brand to be impacted by these subs, I'm not sure what the rationale is. I scheduled two of my dogs for snake training the same day. Neither session was productive. They tried to introduce the dogs to 4 different snake settings in the corral. The first one they approached the snake and shocked the dog. After putting the dog into an excited and unteachable state, they proceeded to drag the dog around the property instead of letting it re-enter a submissive, teachable state. They dragged her around so much so that they yanked the collar off of her neck. Then she proceeded to run around the property. I contained her and brought her back. Then coming back, the snake wranglers were just interested in moving onto the next station they had set up and not concerned about the dog, the dog inputs, or assessing the feedback from the dog. Zero dog skills were demonstrated. My other dog didn't want to follow their leash commands because the snake wranglers weren't skilled with a leash. So they drug my second dog out to the first snake with paws firmly planted on the ground. No training occurred. Just people perfunctorily going through the motions Shock. Repeat dragging the dog. Then when they tired of dragging her, they brought the snake to the dog. She was not even aware. She learned to associate the shock with the wrangler's poor leash skills and perhaps his scent, if anything at all because she was so focused on him and not even aware of the snakes. And she's the hunter we find every night shredding and pulling apart frogs or small field mice (rabbits still too quick for her). She loves to rip apart small prey. We thought she would be the one to bolt and attack once seeing the snakes. Only thing more oblivious to the task at hand were the snake wranglers who didn't know how to focus a dog's attention. If looking for snake aversion training, go elsewhere. The training was perfunctory and pure performance. There was no training. About as effective as them selling you snake oil for your dog's ailments. A better name for this offering would be snake aversion Theater.

Owners were confused and just zapped away without proper training and guidance, I pulled my dog out immediately. If you truly love your dog, and want to learn proper communication, consider positive reinforcement. The only situation I 'maybe' consider this is a pup with aggressive behavior. Otherwise, I would NEVER recommend this type of training. NEVER.

The owner does need to be diligent with taking their dog to the trainings (we kind of fell off at the end but it was okay) but as long as you stick with it, your dog will learn new skills and will be better behaved than before. We can literally walk our dog without a leash now, I never thought that would be possible. She will sit in her place when people come over and we are always getting compliments on how good she is. We can do things in the front yard and have her stay in the garage and she won't run after other dogs that walk by or other other people or children. She has learned to stay in her place for as long as we need her to be. It's funny because she was a really wild dog before and now that she's trained everybody loves her. overall the training here was worth it and we are really happy that we did it!

Fortunatley he healed well after two weeks of dedicated TLC but the trauma of the experience remained with both him and me well after Ryder physically healed. I reached out to Matt for virtual dog training appointments to help us through that, and his guidance and great wisdom around dog psychology and behavior and deep empathy for Ryder and in general made such a huge impact. I learned from Matt how to help Ryder through his fear and trauma and how to recognize when he was experiencing trauma (for example, he developed a new and strong fear of rumbling engines). By applying Matt's empathetic practices, Ryder has become much less fearful, is no longer afraid of rumbling engines or playing with other dogs and he's back to his old happy, playful, super enthusiastic and friendly self!! :) Matt also greatly helped my dog Ellie through the excessive anxiety that resulted from my marital separation and helped us learn what an impact the breaking of that social bond had on her and how to address it! We now give her the extra attention she needs when doing hand offs to switch between homes. Thank you so much, Matt working with you has made a WORLD of difference in Ryder and Ellie's quality of life!! :)

I was told they hadn't even started working on my two dogs but they where about to in a little bit because they where backed up . So I call at 5:22 to see how much longer being that they close at 5:30 and was told they where still backed up and hadn't started on my dogs yet and also they would be done in a while . Ok so I don't care what the excuse is ,I have no clue if the dogs are in cages with water or have been able to use the restroom outside their cages for at least 8 1/2 ho I've avoided places like PetSmart foe this same reason . They say oh your pets just fine we have water and we walk them when in fact they don't leave their cage for like 6 hours straight and don't have water bowls either . Even with water sitting in a cage waiting to be groomed from basically 9:00 am to past 5:30 is insane . At this point I'm within reason of being upset to a certain degree . I get they are behind maybe lack help or whatever but damn if you had too many cuts lined up for one day all you had to say was sorry we are booked and left it at that . I appreciate taking my dogs in but don't understand how a small poodle and Shih Tzu take 9 hours to get groomed . Even with doing one dog an hour which i doubt is the case you'd had to have had 15-18 dogs or more all before them if you had two groomers at the least . Even if you had only 12 dogs before them that's way to much do offer to cut in the time you guys open and close . If it's not then why is taking so long?
