Like what some people said already about poor customer service... we went to one sales associate about asking if they have an item in the backstock. She looked at us wierd as in "why don't you just take this one? " well I don't want to buy something that is covered with spider webs. She ťhen went irritated to the back room came back few mins later. Then she tells us no more and starts explaining to us why they have so much spider webs in the store. Then I asked can you atleast clean off the spider webs off the item... She looked at us all irritated and started wiping it off. Petco needs to train the associates to love helping their customers not get so irritated about little things. read more

I rarely shop at this location as I'm not usually in the area. However, I did go in today just to browse around while I waited for a friend. Staff was courteous and helpful by offering help though I pretty much know my products needed so I kindly said I was doing ok and was just browsing. They have a variety of pet items and needs. Prices are great I shop at other locations which are more convenient for me I only was there today because like I said I was in the area. I still had time waiting for my friend and didn't want to hang out in the store knowing I wasn't going to purchase anything as I am already stocked for my zoo, lol. Do I went outside and checked on my pals reward account. I recently made a few purchases at the other locations I frequent but I didn't see my purchases or reward. Since I frequently go at least once a month or more for my fury,feathered and fin children. I haven't received a reward in a long time. So as I still awaited for my friend I decided to call to see if someone could help me . The male who answered tried but perhaps I wasn't explaining clearly so he passed me to the manager (please accept my apologies if I got the names incorrect). I think the manager name was Aaron, (if not it could be the associate. If I got the name incorrect it's the make manager on duty at 2pm May 12) I explained my concerns and he was kind and patient to pull up my account. Aaron explain everything to me do I understood and even gave me my balance and that I have a reward that is good for a week or two. My next purchase I will make it back to Kapolei even if it's farther than where I normally go. Since Aaron and the associate was very kind and helpful it is with respect I should do my next purchase there. Will I recommend this store yes. The employees were pleasant. My dog needed a nail trim and although they were nice they did not deliver. Her nails appear barely touched. I understand the line where her nerves are but I was not satisfied with this visit. She'll need to get her nail trimmed sooner than later. The manager at this place was so RUDE. We ordered something for curbside pick up online because it was cheaper. We received an update saying that item was out of stock but I had seen it on the shelf the day before. We went inside and asked the manager , Dana, if they could check the shelf or the back for the product and she rudely said "sure but if we marked it out of stock then it's out of stock." We waited and she eventually came back empty handed. I asked if we could go check the shelf and if it was there could they ring us up as the same price for the online sale. She condescendingly said "go right ahead" . We found the product on the shelf with no issue. Upon check out the cashier was extremely nice to us and apologized because we had to wait for the manager to give us the price. She seemed to take her time getting to us and changing the price. The staff at this location is nice and helpful, store is well stocked, and there is ample parking. Carts are kind of small if you plan on splurging for your pet. Reward system is great and they offer military discounts on to of the rewards. I've always found what I'm looking for here and never waited long in line. read more

I guess sometimes you dont always get good service! My dog has been to petco a few times to get groomed and always had great service! I guess today was different! A groomer named Sonya starts off wrong on the phone by telling me she can take my dog if I can get here in 15 min. Her tone didnt seem so happy either. She really sounded like it was gonna be a burden to bring my dog in. First of all you dont give a customer any conditions to wheather or not you can take my dog! It's you gonna take him or not amd when I get there you say you cant cause you dont feel comfortable grooming my dog cause of a skin tag! My dog has been groomed here a few times already and I told the groomer I want the same treatment as the last time and she still asks me if I wanted his teeth brushed and nails done. Basically it was a waste of time to drive down here! But I wont change my rating cause of one person! read more

We have a 1 year old dog, which is our first pet. We brought him here for grooming and basic training. So far we are satisfied with their services. First we did grooming. The packages were confusing for a first time dog owner. We did not really know what to do or which package to choose, or what our dog needed. We ended up going with the full package: nail trimming, teeth cleaning, haircut, etc. The price came out to about $100. I think this price was pretty pricey. It was more expensive then my haircuts! haha But our dog came out looking fresh and clean (: Next we did the basic training sessions. It was every Sunday for about an hour for 6 weeks. We were surprised by the progress our dog has made. Prior to this experience, he had no training whatsoever. He didn't even listen to his own name. This was our first dog so we had no experience with dog training. After the sessions, our dog learned his name, knows basic commands like stay, come, sit, lie down, and shake. I love this store. The employees are fantastic and understanding. However, I took my dog to be groomed and the groomers time management skills are insane. We stood in the store for 30 minutes and watched 3 groomers take 2 smoke breaks each. Are you kidding me? My dog is jammed in a crate that's clearly too small so you guys can smoke?! I don't think so! My dog came back clean and relaxed...a very happy boy for his first time to be groomed. The two people who worked on my dog were very considerate of his needs and they loved him. As I said. The only thing I had complaints about was the continuous smoke breaks. I get you want to smoke, but your job comes first. My dog could have been out of there a lot faster if they weren't smoking or running to Starbucks every 15 minutes. read more

My daughter calls this location the Real petco since the one in waikele is lacking lol. Anyway the location is perfect for everyone on the west side and there is ample parking and the store is kept really clean. There are lots of things to choose from. Large selection of animal feed, animal accessories and habitats and cages for all animals. Let's not forget to mention there are pets here! (Take note Waikele location). What I love most is that this location (not sure about others) supports animal adoption first instead of just selling animals. I believe they are partnered with the humane society and carry out adoptions for cats and at some events adopt dogs out of this location. So kudos. They also have Guinea pigs, birds, mice, rats, chinchillas, turtles and nice sized fresh and salt water fish selection. Based on my experience I'm giving this location 5 stars only because there is one employee there who makes this location so much better than it is. Don't know the name but he is really kind and welcoming. My daughter picked up a bag of fish rocks that was opened and it spilled every where on the floor, she was scared but no one saw lol. I wasn't going to leave it there so I told an employee and he made my daughter feel better and cleaned it up right away all the while reassuring my daughter that it was ok. So much aloha with that guy if it wasn't for him this location would just be meh. Funny how the attitude and personality of employees can affect a business. :) read more

Petco fits the bill of all that a national chain is about....mass produced, florescent lighting, a lack of specialized trained staff, and cheap prices. That being said, I fully took advantage of it after suddenly buying a puppy. I stopped by to pick up everything I needed from the training pads, leashes, food all the way to the specialized brush, kennel and training books. The selection is certainly very good and the prices very good when compared to some of their competition. The store is fairly attractive (considering its brand new!) and features a lot of parking. It is conveniently located in the Kapolei Commons so you can also buy your groceries at Target and your clothes at Ross if your heart desires. It is clean and well laid out. It also features a grooming station as well! The BIG downside for me is the lack of staff, and what staff that are there, really have no idea about the products they carry. When I needed to buy a kennel which happened to be stored above anyone's reach, I had to wait nearly ten minutes for an associate to come by and another ten minutes for them to actually get it down! Also, when I asked about some of the products they offer from a few of their associates, all I got were blank stares....Pets are like some people's children, you can sure as heck bet tht they are going to pay attention to what they buy! read more

I have to love this Petco. They're nice, respectful and treat you like family. I take my puppy here for training and we're learning a lot from Gayle! 10/10 for her! Our fur baby loves her. They even helped us pick her food when she got a food allergy from eating puppy chow. The price is expensive, but the quality is pretty great. I couldn't have chosen a better place to take my puppy. She enjoys puppy play time too :) We just mover away from the area, but still always go back on Saturday for our puppy's training. She's so happy to see her class pups. read more

Very courteous service from Stephen. We have a crazy pulling dog who would be a good sled dog. However, Charley is a 2 year old hound mix. We chose a body harness so we might get better behavior. Two stars because they were able to book him for a morning appointment. Then it goes down from there. I provide them with my card and they cannot find me in their system making the transaction slower and inputting his info incorrectly-his name is Oggilvie NOT OggiLIVE typo I understand. Notes are taken as to what I would like. I specifically ask for a mustache that I've been patiently waiting on my dog to get to a proper length to do so. She goes over, yes like a schnauzer. Short up top long below, maybe a beard. I say little longer on top not too close. When picking him up I find his face fully cut but his EARS?! Kept long. The complete opposite of what was requested. Their excuse, they called the Ewa location to ask what was done before. Thinking-what about what I asked for this morning?? Again no notes were provided they said. Why didn't they think to call ME then?? I'm so bummed right now because this cut was going to be a surprise to my boyfriend who's been away and has wanted the mustache look or him for so long. There goes the surprise. Now he's just clean and has a terrible cut. Both I could have done myself saving me from grief and wasting money. I have been a Petco customer for 7 years now and have never been so disappointed in a location. I have been taking my dogs to get groomed at Petco since they were puppies and I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER GIVE THIS COMPANY ANOTHER PENNY!!!! I had taken my large breed dog to this location to get groomed a couple of months ago and was asked to not use the groomers service on a weekend due to anxious behavior.. SHE IS A DOG! SHE IS OUT OF HER COMFORT ENVIOMENT, AND WILL CRY!!!! I am paying $98 for a full service groom, I should be able to take her to a DOG GROOMERS, which is specifically designed to care for grooming needs of ALL DOGS any day I want! I decided to comply with this ridiculous request as I am new to this side of town and unfamiliar with local inexpensive dog groomers, and decided to take her to this location one more time. Bad choice. . Upon picking up my dog after I recieved a phone call that her service was completed I forgot I didn't have my wallet and could only pay by check. I called ahead asking if this was okay and it was confirmed. I drive to this Petco and was REFUSED MY DOG BECAUSE I HAD NO ID!!!!! I was never told I needed one when I called! And Peter, the manager I'm assuming, hid behind a customer avoiding conversation with me as I was standing there humiliated and refused MY dog! I am not a unjust person, and usually keep my cool in stressful situations, but this situation in particular has completely blown me away. There are really great employees who work here, but due to incompetence in this locations management, this company has lost a very loyal customer. read more

I ordered 10 items for my dogs online yesterday around 0930 in the morning and was expecting to pick those items at least within 3-5 hrs usually when ordering online so I waited until today ( 10/10/21) and was wondering why I didn't get any email saying that my orders were ready for pick-up. So I called Kapolei store this morning and asking why my orders were not ready and the staff said that there was an error in the transaction so my orders were not even in their system which in fact my orders were received and had the confirmation # which I provided but I was told that the credit card I used was denied and told me to call my bank which I did and the bank representative told me that the card i used was approved. Then I called Kapolei store again about it but still they couldn't give me a valid answer so in other words the whole purchased I made online went all to nothing. read more

PetCo isn't so bad despite being a big pet store chain. I like that there are a wide variety of snacks, higher end brands of dog food and millions of dog toys and other supplies we need for our dog. I also think that PetCo allowing your pets in the store is such a great idea! It's great to see other people's pets in the store sniffing each other's butts. LOL. I also like that every weekend the Hawaiian Humane Society is there showing off dogs and cats that are up for adoption. What a great idea! Sometimes I want to take all the dogs up for adoption home. The prices may be a little up there compared to other smaller pet stores, but the selection is great. read more

I'm reviewing for the grooming service. I've been taking my Shih Tzu (Nami) here for grooming services ever since Petco opened in Kapolei and I couldn't be any happier with the service, professionalism and friendly grooming staff. I've taken Nami to several places & she absolutely hated it. Every place I took her too, she shook uncontrollably & would try to bolt for the door. Here she doesn't do that. I highly recommend asking for Pua for your pups grooming needs. She's totally awesome. She does great work and she's very patient with the pets she's working on. I saw her giving Nami kisses while she was working on her. Nami had her tail fractured at another place and doesn't like to have her tail touched and sometimes will nip at the person touching her tail. Pua knows what happened to Nami and she's very loving and soothing to her while she's working on her. I guess it's her calm demeanor that relaxes Nami. Petco will call you and tell you when your pup is ready for pick up, usually about 4 hours. When I go to pick up Nami, Pua always gives me a report on how Nami did and she's very observant! A few times she noticed Nami's skin was a bit botchy and thought she might be allergic to something. Turns out she's allergic to chicken! Pua also noticed she had an ear infection and sure enough, when I took her to the vet she had an ear infection and it was from her allergic reaction to chicken! My parents also take their Shiz Tzu (Nalu) here. They also ask for Pua. We try to schedule grooming on the same day so that our pups can be next to each other in the kennel. I really can't say enough about Pua. She truly is great! I've been to a few grooming places before finding Pua and I'm so glad I did. Nami loves it and no longer shakes uncontrollably. In fact, when I'm checking her in, she will sit on Pua's lap and not be trying to jump out of it or "put the brakes on"...lol. Makes sure to ask for Pua. She's awesome! read more

I like this area because it reminds me of strip malls in the mainland. Very huge parking lot and not too many people around. Brought my cat Normandy here after playing at the park. I love walking around Petco because they have so many pet food brands, pet furniture, toys, dog training classes, and they promote pet adoption :) Found the staff helpful and nice, however, I wish they would invest in carts or wagons...Normandy was in his carrier and I ended up buying over 16 cans of Fancy Feast that were on sale. The place is pretty big so lugging chubby kitty with me and carrying his food in a hand basket was a bit much. Also got 2 kitty collars in Fall colors for a $1...score! read more

Prices are high, but occasionally the receipt prints out a $2 off $5 or more item coupon if you call the number to do the survey and write in the code it gives you; every little bit helps. Sometimes they are out of our dog food, and the Pearl City store "doesn't even carry it". If I have a question I always have to go look all over the store for an employee. What I like is the fact that they have adoption events, and do not sell puppies. read more

Pet ownership is serious business and people often walk in thinking otherwise. Pet Professionals like Bill, Sam and Dawn really helped me make good decisions about pet ownership and care taking, food, etc. So I appreciate that level of service and knowledge they gave me. You should never buy a pet "spur of the moment". These Pros reminded me of the details of taking care of an animal and I appreciate that! read more

I have a spoiled little pomeranian who is happiest when he's groomed. Long story short, Amy is the absolute best groomer my little guy has ever had. She was really sweet and did a really good job at getting him all nice and pretty. I've taken him to the PetCo in Pearl City before and it wasn't that cool. I'm positive he's been to this location once before Amy but I can't really remember because it was probably not that awesome of a job. Amy did great. Ask for her! He came out prancing like a little pageant queen and wanted to play with all the dogs there (it was a dog adoption day). My dog being social is rare, so I know he really enjoyed his hour with Amy. ALSO...I brought him in on a Saturday at 11:30am, told her I had to work at 4, and she had him done in just about an hour. I was surprised! It usually takes so much longer but she squeezed us in real quick even though she was super busy. I made an appointment the day before but it was still pretty short notice. Romo enjoyed the haircut, little bandana, and bag of treats she gave him. He would probably just live with her if he could. read more

This review is strictly for the grooming Grooming - I've been going here for over two years taking my pit bull for grooming. The thing is sometimes they are GREAT, and other times they are FAIR. When we get there my dog is always yelping and trying to run back to the car. Not sure why. The reason I stopped going is because recently at least twice and within 24 hours his anal gland was leaking and it was disgusting. His toenails were not done good or buffed out. But, the STAFF is ALWAYS courteous. Thank you staff! I've recently found a new place in Kapolei called Pet Haven. My dog loves it and I love the grooming they do. Great job and better price. I sent my sister with her dog and they love it. Sorry Petco! read more

Groomers are terrible here. Twice on two separate occasions a groomer has injured my dog. Once they snipped the padding under her foot and once cut the nails too short and bled. If you don't know what you are doing, then find a new profession. Will look for a different place to take our dog from now on read more

Absolutely loved the grooming staff here! My Chewy boy got his first haircut, ever! & I was definitely a scared mama because I would have to leave him for four hours! But to my surprise he was such a good boy and be staff was great! Especially their manager Amy who reassured me, when dropping Chewy, that he was going to be alright, water is provided inside, and that we could call anytime to check up on him, that's quality service to me. Although, I was a little bit sad to find out we had to leave him there for four hours. But cutting dog hair ain't easy so I give them much credit for doing it daily. Love bringing my fur-babies here for their spa day! The staff is super nice, specifically the grooming staff, but everyone is always courteous and friendly here. They have a very wide selection of food and toys, and everything in between. The only reason it isnt 5 stars is the prices...they carry the brand of food we like, so we get it there, but unless they are on sale, we do not buy treats or toys. Though I do recommend going in after holidays and buying the left-over toys since they get marked down usually 50% or more...and trust me, you baby wont know its a Halloween toy he/she's getting for Christmas! My fav thing is the "spa" though! We have two rescue pups, both older (not puppies), mixed breed dogs. We love to bring them in for the basic bath package which includes bath, brush, toenail clipping, ear cleaning and anal glands. It costs us about $30 per dog and is totally worth it ! My dogs do not let me cut their nails, and that fee by itself is $15, so for another $15 we can have all of that done too! We have always been able to just walk in and drop them off. It usually is a two hour wait (I'm guessing a standard estimate of 1 hour per dog) and its perfect because they are located in the Target shopping center so we can get out shopping done and grab dinner (usually Genki!) while we wait. If yours are anything like mine though, go on a week night. On Saturday and Sundays PETCO coordinates a pet adoption event with the Oahu SPCA (another reason i LOVE Petco!!! "Make adoption your first option!") and my dogs are not the best behaved around other animals. There are usually a LOT less dogs their on weeknights. read more

All we got was a nail trim and buff. But the groomer did an excellent job with handling my dog who was nervous hearing another pup cry it's lungs out in the holding pen. My dog peed on the groomer who took it in stride and calmed my her down before taking her in the back and checking her over before making any move to clip. My dog was less than happy with the trim but behaved wonderfully. And the groomer handled her even better! I'm so grateful since it's hard clipping her nails on my own. For the price it's well worth it to get a trim and buff! read more

I came here because they have Nature's Miracle, but damn it is expensive! The store was pretty empty and the cashier was nice, but I just don't feel at home at Petco. Petco is located in Kapolei next to Ross and near Target, Sports Authority, and a bunch of other establishments. Parking is ample. The store is pretty huge. It's nicely sectioned and the layout is simple. I LOOOOOVE that you can bring your furry family members with you inside! (although on this day I left the kids at home!) We were looking for a new collar and leash for our big Pitbull Buddy. He's a stroooong boy and the BF is picky on what type of collar/leash he uses. We ended up buying a leash from Caesar Millan's line ($22.99) which was stylish and sturdy. The BF didn't find a collar that he felt was strong enough for Buddy. (booooo!) We also picked up "bath wipes" for Buddy ($14.99) since he just had surgery to drain a hematoma and his stitches won't be removed for another 2 weeks (3 weeks total)... and I want him smellin' so fresh and so clean since he can't bathe... :) We checked out pet beds (ridiculously overpriced!) but good thing we had just bought a bed for out lil one next door at Ross (MUCH cheaper! and NICE quality)... and Buddy, well he has an orthopedic bed from Kuranda ($200!) so he's all set. We browsed the other dog items, checked out the kittens/cats, perused through the fish and turtles, and even checked out the chinchillas (25% off!) (eeeek!)... and then we were on our way. Staff was pleasant and friendly. We had an associate ask us if we need assistance while we were browsing, and the female associate at the checkout register was friendly as well. I love seeing people and their pets shopping. So cute! Too bad Petco is overpriced!... and as Artemis A. mentioned... pretty appalled and saddened about the dog that got his ear snipped... :( If all else fails (Walmart/Target/NEX), we'll check out Petco. read more
