My Bronzee Bear has been seeing Ms. Lani faithfully for 16 years. We've moved to and from the continental US as well as internationally a handful of times, but whenever we're home in Hawaii, we always make a beeline back to Pat's Poodle Grooming. The staff is incredibly intimate and welcoming. Ms. Lani is the sweetest and treats Bronzee with the utmost warmth. The shop space is small and dated, but it isn't a bother, considering you're only dropping off your pet for service. Price has consistently remained reasonable as well, and has probably only increased once in the many years I've been here. Highly recommend if you're able to squeeze into her schedule! read more

After bringing my Shiloh beans to a couple establishments for grooming, I was so excited and relieved to be referred to Pat's Poodle Grooming a few years ago! Prices are very reasonable. For my medium sized, ~30lb, med-long haired pup, a full grooming costs me $50! Quality of grooming is superb every single time. The customer service we receive is always wonderful and we appreciate them very much. The place is on the older side and definitely needs some updating, but please do not be fooled! Overall quality trumps appearance in this case. I've never stayed for Shiloh's grooming sessions, but based on previous reviews, it seems you can hang around if you wish :) Although there is a stall reserved for customers of Pat's Poodle Grooming, arrive a little early as the surrounding establishments can get busy & parking can get rough! read more

I've been taking my dog to another groomer for a while now and recently he's been getting irritable and a bit aggressive. I found this strange since he's never act this way before. His hair did get really matted and I know this can be painful and uncomfortable for most dogs. My groomer recommended me going to vet to get him sedated. I wanted to seek all options before resorting to drugs haha. My dog is a super friendly dog, it just happens that he started hating getting his hair groomed. I finally stumbled upon pats Poodle Grooming here on yelp! I called and spoke to them explaining my dogs behavior and experience with the last groomer. Pats Poodle Grooming told me that they deal with my situation a lot and so I took their next availability. I have to say that they are a miracle worker!!! This dog groom room is no frills, but to me, it's not about how fancy the place looks. I just want to know our little fur-baby is taken care of. She always gets a great full service groom & the price is incredibly reasonable. We are so pleased with their service, that we gladly leave generous tips (or at least what I think is generous!) The only downside is that they are booked very quickly, so unless you are a usual client & book all of your appointments in advance, you may have to wait for a while. But it's worth it once you're able to schedule something! read more

Just took my dog here for his first grooming this afternoon! I've tried and tried to groom him myself, with very little success. He has curly hair that had tons of matts all over his body. I asked them to shave him, and they did that and more! Not only did Puka receive a haircut, but he was also bathed, had his nails cut, his ears cleaned, and anal glands expressed. I was definitely not expecting that! They told me he'd take about two hours, but they called about an hour and a half later to let me know he was done. Over the phone, they let me know that they would be charging me double the price because of how matted he was. However, even at double the price it was still very reasonable! For that same price, I probably could've only gotten a haircut at another groomers. When I picked him up they gave me tons of advice on how to keep Puka matt-free! It is very clear that they love animals and they take great care of every dog that comes in! I will definitely be back for any more grooming needs! read more

I heard great things about Pats Poodles and decided to come in and give it a try. It was our first experience coming here and I when called previously, I was told we could walk in if it was for a nail trim. So we did. We went in today and the guy working asked if we had an appointment which we did not. Then we were rudely informed that they were booked for the rest of the year and they do not take walk ins. We turned around and left. I did not even have a chance to say we were just there for a nail trim. The attitude was not appreciated. read more

I took a recommendation to try this salon for my mini-labradoodle's grooming. although parking is a little bit tricky I was very impressed with the staff. I really like their encouragement for patrons to wait until their pet is ready but it's okay to conduct errands and come back when ready. I don't normally write reviews but for this I just must. I took my 11 year old Pomeranian/ papillon there for the first time today after his previous owner that he's had since 8 weeks old retired. I fell in love with Lani immediately! I explained to her how my dog does not like his front paws being touched and so he tries to nip when he gets his front paws clipped and buffed. Lani held him, talked to him in the sweetest voice and suggested that I stay and watch as she would try to cut and buff his nails. I was cringing because I didn't want to witness him trying to bite her! I could not believe my eyes when my dog did not even flinch as she did his nails. She talked to him right thru and he was totally fine!! 2 1/2 hours later I picked him up and he looked great! He even seemed happy with his tail wagging! Thank you Lani!! Lani and Kurk are simply the best! I've been here a few times now to get my lab's nails done. Normally, I have to put him in this gymnast-meets-wrestler move to use the dremmel to buff his nails. Because it's this whole song and dance, I decided it'd be nice to take him somewhere to get it done. Kurk has been the one doing his nails and he makes it look like a breeze. He's always great with my dog and fun to talk with. Lani is such a sweetheart too! It costs $10 for the nails. I typically take care of the rest of my dogs grooming needs but if I decided to get the whole shebang done, Lani quoted me $65 - nails, ears, anal glands, trim the belly hair and paws, bath and blow dry. Not bad. Apparently, the former owner Pat retired a few months ago but Lani had been working there with pat for quite some time and ended up taking it over and saw no need to change the name. Pat's is located in the same complex as Tanioka's, in a upstairs unit. Parking can take a minute depending on when you go - expected being that majority of the cars there are traffic going to Tanioka's & 7-11. The shop itself is nothing pretentious or fancy. But it's clean and they just reorganized the setup so it feels a lot more open. My main concern is how well the pets are treated and cared for - here, it's nothing short of 5-stars. read more

We first took my dog Curly here YEARS ago. When we first got Curly (poodle maltese mix) i was about 7 years old. As far as I could tell she was orange in color and had 8 legs. No joke. Her hair was so matted and disgusting from being kept outside she literally had 8 legs and was pure orange from the Waipahu red dirt. When we went to pick up Curly Pat asked me to look for my dog. I looked at all the kennels and none of them was my dog. I turned to her and said "my dog is orange." Everyone laughed. When we got curly back to us she had the cutest little bows in her hair and she was WHITE!!!! They did an amazing job with Curly Girl. We didn't know it for a few months but Curly was a biter. They took such good care of her even in her old age. They put a muzzle on her so she wouldn't bite anyone but even though Curly was a handful they did a great job. We took Curly here for probably 10-13 years. And we have never ever been disappointed. I'm planning to bring my Husky small husky here soon. read more

Took my shitzu mix Chewy here today for his very first grooming. I wasnt sure what to expect or do as this was also my first time. When we came in we were greeted and taken right away. Chewy was not an easy one, so he kept moving and dodging. But the ladies here are so nice and very experienced that they got the job done. They let me stay the entire time and I got to watch everything so it made me feel really comfortable. The whole time they were so nice to Chewy and tried to make him feel comfortable. I feel that Chewy really liked it here. I saw him later lick Lani's ear which he normally does not do to strangers so I knew he liked her. She was really nice and kept talking to him to calm him down. He was also jumping on Amy and so well behaved with her while she was brushing him. Also while we were there I didnt realize how popular they were until so many people came to drop off their dogs. And the nice thing is the staff knows their customers and pets name. By the end of Chewy's visit he was very happy, looked soo handsome and... made new human and doggie friends. The reason I took Chewy here in the first place is that the price was the cheapest I found. For Chewy's hair length and size it was $32. All other places were $50 and up (and some of the other places didnt even offer the full service that Pat's Grooming offers) Oh and before I forget, the place doesn't look the best. But it doesn't bother me too much. And by the looks of the volume of customers they have, I think they don't mind either. My dog has been going to Pat's from when he was a puppy. They usually have an appointment available for a few days out when you call. No appointment needed for nail trimming ($8). My miniature poodle is usually $23 but they charge an extra $5 if he has tangles. Don't be late to pick up your pooch because they just started charging $15 for late pick ups. read more

The place needs some updating as everything looks old and rusty but the grooming techniques are awesome and my son Brody the poodle came out looking handsome. If you are looking for a very reasonably price doggy groomer then this maybe the place for you BUT you will need to make some compromises. Keep an open mind when you first get there. It is located in Waipahu near Tanioka's, but they don't have a glamorous, new fancy establishment. To be honest I was extremely skeptical when I first went there but my Aunty goes there and I figured if she trusts them then I should too, right? Anyways the place looks run down and probably hasn't been remodeled since most likely when they first opened. It's small and quaint. They have cages for the furry babies. It's not a 5 start resort but, the staff are friendly and nice and they do a superb job. My furry child looks awesome when they are done. I've been to other nicer looking establishments when my furry child comes back smelling like candy but with a price tag nearly double of what you pay for here, Pat's Poodles is more economical. I would give this place 5 stars if they could just make their establishment more "pretty" and clean looking. However their grooming skills definately gets a 5! read more

Yesterday I took my wonderful Labradoodle to Pat's grooming. I was using another groomer and was not happy that my dog never turned out the way I wanted and it cost me a small fortune. I was fearful that she would come out looking like a poodle. Nothing against poodles:) From the moment I walked into this tiny little shop, in Waipahu,I had a good feeling. Pat, Lani and Amy were all so nice. Pat took the time to listen to my concerns and what I wanted. I never felt rushed out the door. When I came back to pick up my baby, I was thrilled! She looked like her self only better! It's not cheap to have a doodle groomed but it was better than where I use to go. She does have long thick fur. I was not unhappy with the price since she looked so beautiful. I am so happy that I finally found a groomer that I really like. Mahalo to Pat, Amy and Lani. read more

These groomers really LOVE their dogs! If you can get over the little run downed place, they are truely there for the well-being of your pet dog! They shave and cut hair, detangle, trim nails, drain anal gland, flea dip, shampoo wash and dry your dog all for a very low cost! Lets just say i've paid $78 at Petco and Classy Clippin for the same grooming and at Pat's Poodles it was $28! Don't forget to tip them too! They have great customer service and are very friendly! Always call you to confirm and remind you of your appointment. Free parking, just a little congested in the parking lot sometimes because of Tanioka's next door. If you are looking at Tanioka's in waipahu, they are located on the right hand side building, 2nd floor, above Awardline Tropies. I would book your appointment ahead of time because they do have a handful of regulars and they are booked a few days in advanced especially because they work shorter hours usually until 1:30-2:00pm. read more

We're really concerned, picky, if you will, that people treat our doggies right when we're gone. Pat's Poodle Grooming did that, and much more. Our two Maltese doggies looked fabulous when they were done, the price was right, the atmosphere was wonderful, and I would recommend them to everyone who want their doggies to be treated right, and to look fabulous every time! In fact, I've been recommending Pat's Poodle Grooming every chance I get, cause we really love doggies, and want all of them to get good treatment, good grooming and a good price!
