I just started coming to this location last month. We added a new puppy to our family and wanted to start training early. I checked out several places including other Petco stores and fully dedicated dog training facilities. Except for 1, I didnt like the people running the training centers. They were not very welcoming. The 1 I liked had terrific people working there, but it was a little too far to drive for regular training sessions. The other Petco stores did not have training class schedules that fit into my schedule. Now I am going to explain why I decided to sign up at this Petco. My wife and I walked into the store and Gene greated us with energy. He also answered all our questions. Lastly, he said tell me when you need a class and we will get it on the schedule. He went above and beyond!!! The people he has working in the store have the same mentality as him. You can tell that he set the tone. Next, I am going to tell you why I recommend them for training. Our trainer is Erin and she is Great. I did not expect much because this is a Petco, but she is freakin good at working with the dogs & owners in class. We took our older dogs many years ago to a fully dedicated training facility, but they seemed more interested in the dog/owner combinations that were going onto the next level of AKC competitions. Erin at Petco is not worried about that. She is more focussed on helping you and your dog understand each other so you can live a long happy life together. I truly believe these classes at Petco are a great first step if you want to go onto the next level of AKC events or if you just want to be able to take your dog in public and not be embarrassed. read more

Learned today that in Petco the online price sale is only honored if you buy online & pick up/delivery(obviously). But if you go to the store and buy it in person you have to show them the item is on sale with the online price for them to give you the sale price. Otherwise it WILL ring up the regular price. So bring your phone with you unless you buy it online and pick up/delivery. I wanted to bring my dog to do some other shopping here reason I didn't order online. There's a reason why this particular grooming store has terrible reviews and shame on me for not checking that out before I made an appointment for our Lhasa Apso , who has a lot of fur . Unfortunately, the last groomer we had when we got him groomed for the summer did not take off the amount we wanted so Colby has been extremely uncomfortable , so we looked for a new groomer. I happened to be in the area so made an appointment at this Petco. Here we are three weeks later and our poor Colby still has no relief from the oppressive heat we've had. They had the audacity to call us the morning of his grooming, the last TWO weekends in which( we made no plans to make this a priority ), and the store called us that morning to say that they had problems with their water. When my fiancé called after the second time this happened , to see if we could get him a haircut without getting him washed they told us it was because the girl called out sick just like she probably did the week before on a beautiful Sunday. Shame on the establishment. You need to get more committed, compassionate workers who aren't going to blow off our fur babies, leaving them uncomfortable, out of their selfish desire to enjoy the summer! We have been bringing our dog to this store for grooming since he was a puppy. He is now a senior citizen and has some mobility issues. When we bought him for his usual grooming. The girl at the store today (august 29th 2023 the hudson mass store) was very rude. In a very rude and mean voice said..."im sorry but your dog is just too old to come to this store". While i can understand the stores concerns about an older dog and possible injury, the tone of voice and attitude of this "employee" was absolutely unacceptable. Needless to say we will not be bringing our business for all our pets needs anymore. I hope petco management sees these comments and addresses this with their employees and educated their employees on taking a more polite and compassionate attitude towards elderly animals and their families. read more

I would usually never shop here but the shop I get my salt water aquatics from is closed on Sunday's and I promised my two boys they could get gold fish before learning to start salt water... Absolute worst. First I walk in with two kids and the guy at the door was not wearing a mask and two guys stocking shelves in the back, we're not. Then we try to buy two $2 gold fish and they tried to tell my kids they couldn't buy them without having a tank set up first. Maybe they should take the health of customers more seriously instead of fish and actually consult with a customer about what they are doing so they know the fish will be cared for. As a father of 4 and two dogs-- I think we know what we're are doing and I don't need high school kids telling me otherwise. Train your people! read more

Definitely won't recommend Melissa. Terrible grooming job on our dog. Took our dog here couple of times specifically told her not to shave the dog. Regardless of our choice she shaved the whole dog. Poor baby, he absolutely despise his hair now. Never mind the shaving, at least the job has to be reasonable. The shaving is very shabby and lots of cowlicks and uneven hair. Poor Will never return. The other lady Yvette seems to be the better one. She did a great job last time. read more

I place an order online today to pick up in Hudson. When I din't get confirmation by mid-afternoon, I called the store and spoke to the manager (I think his name was Gene). He was completely unhelpful, said that I had to contact the people I had placed the order with (same company!!!), was very abusive and overbearing on the phone, and eventually just hung up on me -- a real jerk masquerading as a manager. All of the staff at Hudson Petco are extremely friendly and helpful. Melissa in the grooming salon is the absolute best! She is patient and kind, you can tell that she really loves the animals, and enjoys her work. I am so grateful for her expertise and ability to groom my very difficult 8 lb little silky poo. On the plus side, they always have everything I need when I shop there. On the negative side, I find their prices a little on the high side. A few times, the price on something has actually been higher than at my vet's office--it's usually the other way around. Their selection is very good and it's a fairly large store. Things are organized well and easy to find. On the few occasions I've needed help finding something, I was easily able to find somebody to help me. Grooming service is less then okay. For $70 my little dog was not trimmed evenly or brushed entirely out. Only could trimmed back nails. I have never had any problems with grooming her before. Won't take her there again. read more

So PetCo is PetCo, but i really like this location because of the people that work here. Dog lovers and all around nice people. I came in on a Sunday when Gene and Stephen were working and both were amazingly helpful and nice. I literally live here. I'm in all the time because I have 2 rabbits and some fish. I get a lot of rabbit supplies here and there's always a lot of stuff on clearance, which is helpful for a high school student like me. We got three bags of rabbit food on clearance, normally 12 dollars. We got it for 3 dollars. What a steal! read more

Took our westie for a clip. They assured us they were very well practiced at westie clips . It was the worst cut my dog has ever had. His nails were uneven clipped at random . I am taking him to the vet to have his nails corrected . My beautiful boy who had full grown mutton chops and skirt is now gone . He was clipped so close he looks like deranged poodle . Gone was his bread and skirt and mutton chops a signature feature of the westie . A pompom was left on his head! His face chopped and uneven his beard shaven close up to his jaw line ! a westie!! . His chest uneven .. he looks like a long hair chihuahua that has been clipped by a two year old. The groomer " justified" clipping him that short saying he had matts that needed cutting out which was completely untrue. I have before and after photos . He is brushed every day and we use spray detangler.. he is easy like silk to comb through especially with a few spritz of detangler. The groomer obviously didn't want to take the time to comb him out before clipping him . Which takes 10 minutes tops with the proper combs and perhaps a spritz of spray that all groomers use before clipping a dog , and required preparation for a westie clip. I feel it is obvious the groomer lacked the sophistication , expertise or perhaps the patients that day to mange clippers to provide the grooming skill required for a westie clip. The groomer appeared lacking in the fundamental understanding of a westie clip ; evident by the all over uneven and bizarre chunks taken out of his coat. I am in tears . I have no idea how we can fix this he looks pathetic, all chopped up and uneven . He certainly does not look like a westie in any shape or form ! Regardless of the style it is uneven choppy and bizarre . It will take at least 5 months!! For him to grow out enough hair to cover the damage so we can attempt to get him back in shape for a westie cut. read more

I have been a monthly customer at the Hudson location ever since my relocation there after my divorce and have never felt more at ease walking in with my Pomeranian Cosmo ... We go in and get what we need and return to our daily duties. The staff is always helpful and never pushy ... My last visit there I honestly asked the sales associate a question and she gave me an honest answer which is rare in retail, very rare ... This is a review for the grooming salon which is the best around! In particular, Melissa is awesome with my pup. She's been his groomer for a few years now and he LOVES her. He get so excited when he sees her like mining else! And she always does a great job with his hair cut. He smells and looks fabulous. Melissa is just the best and I can't say enough good things about her. She treats every dog as if they were her own--so loving and sweet. I've been brining my Westie to Petco for the past 4 years and although they have had staffing problems (late staff or no shows) the groomers have ALWAYS done their job and I have ALWAYS left a satisfied customer. Grant it some may clip a tad bit more or there may be some uneven areas but they're working on animals and some that arn't so cooperative or wigglie. As far as I am concerned they do a good job and today 3/12/12 they were super with my Buster. People need to realize that pet grooming is not rocket science but takes a certain kind of individual to put up with the moods of an animal - I couldn't do it that's for sure! Today was a great day - the next time may not be so BUT as history has shown (me) I can trust them to do right by my pet. read more

After a fantastic experience at the Quincy petco, I was near this Hudson petco and decided to give it go. I assumed since its a chain, they were all the same. Not so. I paid 100 dollars and my dog did not get the sanitary I requested (the most important part of the groom in my opinion). When I took her home I saw blood everywhere, dripping all over the sidewalk in front of my house,drops of blood on the floor and all over my dogs teeth and mouth.i looked frantically to find out where it was coming from, it turned out three of her nails where bleeding profusely from having been cut too short.not one, three. I called, explained, they told me the manager couldn't come. To phone but to come by three days later for a discount.i came by three days later and no one knew what the heck I was talking about. Whoever was on the phone I guess just pretended to tell the manager. And no I didn't get a discount. I won't name names,I will just never go back for the safety and happiness of my dog and highly discourage others from going there. read more
