LOVE the grooming service!!! My older Westie can be extremely difficult when it comes to being groomed. The groomers have gently worked with him to get him used to the process and now grooming is less stressful for all. The groomers are so loving and kind. We love Ellie's Pet Barn! The walk in nail service is so convenient and the groomers are super friendly and seem knowledgeable. The store has everything we've needed (and more!). The only negative comment I have is that I drove over there for grooming services on a snowy day (after checking Facebook to make sure they hadn't posted they were closed) and they were closed. A bummer but not a huge deal! read more

So we had an appointment booked for grooming. The business CANCELLED us last minute due to employees out sick. They put us in "for next available ", which after looking at the date that day that we were cancelled, my wife called back and left message we were away and booked appointment for today at 2pm. Never received a confirmation call as we have in the past, so we call today to inquire if we are still on for our appointment, and they state we are no longer allowed to be customers DUE TO CONSTANT CANCELLATION! We have never cancelled, they cancelled us, when asked for clarification on the dates we supposedly cancelled, "Lilly" basically told my wife to shove it there's nothing they can do, they claim they didn't receive a message yet somehow we booked for today, then she abruptly hung up the phone on us. Honestly one of the worst customer service's from a business I've ever seen. I wouldn't bring my pet there now if they offered free grooming for life, and I'll be sure to mention this occurrence to any and everyone looking for a recommendation for a groomer in the future. read more

Well I gotta say, I'm stoked there's a good pet food store without having to drugde through to Worcester or fate jumping on the highway just for puppy foods.The selection of foods, both dry, fresh, frozen and raw is actually kinda astounding for the size of this place (which is also surprising when you walk in and see there's a hidden cat section) Meow! I have 4 dogs with all different kinds of issues and allergies to food. Its been extremely challenging finding the food that doesn't bother them all and I can free feed them from the same dishes without worry. Fortunately I found the right brand (Origen if you haven't gotten them on this brand, then do it soon - its worth the high price tag for dry food-seriously no joke) They sell it at basic retail price - probably lower than you will find without going on the interwebs..so that comfort to your wallet. They have all of the Lupine collars, harnesses and leashes - another brand if you haven't caught on to ... you are what they call "behind the times" in the doggie world. Great selection of (expensive) toys from all the top brands and lots of selections on treats ( especially those that don't bother their bellies - and are low in calories) As far as the service goes - I noticed the sort of standoff-ish mean high school girl stares, ,,,from high school girls ..but was met with with much more pleasant service from another staff member that checked me out and made sure I knew about the frequent buyers program that oriijen does ( Fromm and some other good pet food companies do it) I was impressed as I was going to ask her about it first, and they will actually keep your receipts there as proof of purchase so you dont have to snip and save the barcode UPCs on the bags.. After 12 bags you get a free one. I know I've totally thrown out tons of these! So that was a nice touch that will have me coming back. read more

I don't typically write reviews, especially ones that aren't rave reviews, but my experience there yesterday really irked me. While the owner's away, like she was on Friday afternoon when I went in to buy a $60+ bag of dog food, the staff sit around talking to each other and don't offer any customer service whatsoever - none of them acknowledged me at all when I walked in, nor came to ask me if I needed help with anything while I was shopping. I came in to buy a brand that I have gotten there before - it was on the shelf but too heavy for me to lift, so I went to the register area where ALL of them were sitting around, to ask for some help. Without even getting up, one of the girls there told me I couldn't buy that brand because it is only stocked for the Highway Patrol dogs. Really? I bought it before from the owner, and it was there in the store, where it was the last time I purchased it. I told them that, but they just said the owner's not here and we aren't going to sell it to you. They didn't even offer to call and ask her. I used to shop here all the time, even though the prices are generally higher than everywhere else because it's convenient to my vet and I like shopping at small local businesses. It was a very uncomfortable exchange all the way around. read more

You may be overwhelmed when first entering the Pet Barn by the sheer volume of inventory here; they have an astonishing amount of high end products for cat and dogs. I was able to find my dog's favorite nutritional supplement here, NUPRO. I am not able to get it from amazon or the big box pet stores nearby. Pet barn also had NUPRO for cats, which Callahan loves. They carry CBD oil and have a dog groomer on site. read more

I continue to drive approximately 7 mi to pet Barn to have my cat nails cut regularly. She's a double pawed cat and the groomer just has a great way with cutting the cat's nails in a minute or two. read more

I will say for being a small store they did have a good amount of variety. The price gouging was a little overwhelming. My bag of dog food was at least $10 more than I would have paid at Petco or Petsmart. And the customer service was sub par. The owner was sucking up to another new customer and didn't even acknowledge me or ask if I needed help and even stood in my way while I was trying to get by her carrying a 24 pound bag of dog food. Also none of the dog food had prices on it so I have no idea how to compare the to brand my dogs like or what I was buying. I will be driving to either Leominster or Auburn to go to Petco in the future. I will still save money because extra gas is cheaper than the price gouging. read more

I was told it should take about 2 hours, so about 2 hours after I dropped my dog off, I called and I was told on the phone it would be "About two o'clock, but we'll call you when he's ready." which was about an hour long than I was told. OK, no problem. At 3:30 I drove to pick up my dog - no phone call. Nothing. I walked in to find the groomer leaning over her counter chatting with a friend and my dog in a cage for who know's how long. "You can pay at the register" at the register I asked"Any reason I didn't get a call?"( thinking because I've been waiting 4 and a half hours for my dog!!!) and nothing - "I don't know - I'll tell her..." Great service, very knowledgeable about products. We needed to change our senior age dog to a new food and our vet recommended coming to Ellie's to discuss options. I called ahead and they had options already pulled out for me. Their products a quality brands, I did not ask but saw most as American made. Took my bichon there a while ago and just had to send in a review. Very disappointed in service. My dog was crated for over 4 hours waiting to be groomed. Mind you I made an appointment and was told to drop off at a specific time which I did. When I called to check on pick up I was told she was still waiting in the crate. I was upset and the woman said to me, "well we had a busy day." I immediately went to pick her up and there was no apology just asked if I wanted to reschedule. I said no. Bad first impression. I actually stopped by to pick up treats the other day. Spent a good 10 min looking for something and both women at the register continued their conversation and never asked if I needed anything. As a new resident of the area, I have found this little place to be a god send! From the outside, it doesn't look like much - but once inside I was amazed at the way the staff has maximized their space to hold a HUGE selection of foods, toys, and other pet supplies. Not only that, but everyone there is very knowledgeable about the products in their store AND the products they don't have but can order. They offer good discounts on things I buy regularly and even signed me up for one of their special programs - where I have a standing order on a certain food and they will call every "x" number of weeks to tell me they have the food in stock. This place makes it so easy! And, of course, supporting local business and steering clear of big box stores is very important! I highly recommend this place to anyone who keeps dogs and is looking for a huge selection of goods and a very friendly and informed staff! Five stars! read more

I went to the pet barn looking for cat food for a cat with a sensitive stomach. They let me try samples. I came back to get the food my cat liked the best. They grabbed the $19 6 lb. bag for me. I checked the expiration date later at home. The date was very light in color and took me a few times looking at the bag to find it. Then I checked the receipt. i have been a customers of the pet barn for a few years now,the store is located off of main street in the honey farms strip mall,if you havn't been there befor it is not easily noticable from the street,access is o.k ,parking is not the best,however the store itself is well worth the trip if you love your pets,you will love this store,it's PACKED with pet supplies,it's not on the cheap side,but again it is well worth the visit,the staff are very friendly and helpful,i go mainly for the grooming department,you generally need to make an appointment,i would say to be realistic one should expect to leave there dog for 4 hours,the groomers there are very nice to both the customers and the animals ,they do a wonderful job,i won't discuss prices as i don't honestly know if they vary depending on the dogs size or breed,and i don't know how other groomers price there services,but i feel the cost is fair for all the excellent and hard work they do,i would fully recommend giving the pet barn and it's grooming department a try.!! read more
