My furboy Frank has been a frequent visitor of Gibson's for the 6+ years he's been a pert of our family. He is so excited when we drive down the driveway he howls and cannot wait to get out of the car. Frank goes to doggy daycare once a week, boards there when we are away and is groomed there often. Always excited to go play and to see me when I pick him up, NO ISSUES EVER! I've brought my dog here before with no problems. This time my beautiful almost 2 year old Newfoundland came home ' ran right into his crate. For days he's been lethargic, has diarrhea, very timid- like someone hurt him. He was there for 4 days and I packed 2 large ziplock bags of food- they returned 1.5 bags. Basically they either did not feed by Bear or if he wasn't eating they never bothered to call me. The morning I went to pick him up I called - no answer and they returned 0 messages. Downhill.... used to love them and really trust their judgment and care but after past semi recent experiences with them I can't say the same now. Our dog was injured there twice due to negligence of employees and it never used to be that way. Now they just have a bunch of teens running the place with little adult supervision. This place is SPECTACULAR!!!! I'm embarrassed to say I live literally 3 minutes from this place and didn't know about this place for my baby Trinity. My baby was here for 10 days while in Italy and I know she had a blast. This place is super clean, smells good and the ownership is bar none. The owner is always there and he is super friendly. I have left my dog at a kennel before and she had a great time. So, I did not think anything leaving her at Gibson's for 2 days. I wish I looked into it better... She is currently as sad as I have ever seen her. I took her home and she doesn't want to eat and just mopes around. At Gibson's I was surprised to see that the young girls who worked there were not apparently dog people or the kind of compassionate folks you expect to see taking care of loved ones. As it turns out two dogs were killed in their care a few weeks ago. I deeply regret trusting this group of people with my best friend. I have been taking my dog to Gibson's for daycare once per week for about 6 months. She LOVES it. When we pull into the parking lot she starts making this excited sound and practically drags me through the door to get inside to "play with the puppies". The staff is very attentive and talks to each person if there is a question or concern. I really love the front desk staff. They quickly knew my dog by sight and greeted her by name when she came through the door. She comes home after daycare exhausted and happy. read more

I have been visiting Gibson's with my husband and his parents for several years now, and I am never disappointed with their service, products, or care of dogs. I trust the staff and have seen ever pet treated like, well, royalty! The facility is safe and clean. We bring in our seven-year-old Golden Retriever in twice per week and fully intend to introduce our two new puppies as soon as possible. Awesome! Bob is a great guy and runs his dog-town accordingly. We have our dog groomed here as well as for stays since she doesn't travel too well. I don't know why the one start reviews aren't shown/recommended...I feel like people should be able to see both the good and bad of a business. Not cool to only show the 5 star reviews. I'm clearly not the only one who had a dog contract kennel cough at Gibson, but conveniently enough, both of the one star reviews are hidden. Here's my previous review, just in case: If I could give 0 stars, I would. My dog just returned from a week stay at the kennel, and is now in isolation at Tufts emergency vet clinic with pneumonia. Every time I called to check on my pup, I was told he was great--how does a healthy 10 month old puppy go from being "great" to needing IV antibiotics in a couple of days? I can't imagine that there was no indication while he was there that something was going on, and we could have possibly avoided the $3,000 vet bill coming our way :\ Edit: I will add that my dog was vaccinated before bringing him as well. read more

What a wonderful place! After looking into a place to leave my crazy little Auzzie over Halloween night I was so pleased to have found this kennel! I was a little hesitant as this was my first time boarding my pooch but the entire experience was 5 star. I called a few days before the Halloween weekend, nervous that I wouldn't be able to find a kennel for my furry kid so quickly before a holiday. The girl who answered the phone was pleasant and informative, even relating about her two furry kids and how nervous she was leaving her babies at a kennel for the first time. This was genuine and not a script to just get my reservation booked and me off the phone. It almost felt like talking to an old friend! Upon dropping off my little one I was greeted by two wonderfully pleasant girls! Walking up to the desk a girl smiled warmly and even got up to walk from behind the desk to personally greet my nutty little girl. Another girl joined her and the two of them coo-ed over my now attention spoiled little one. The check-in process was quick but thorough (the amount of information they covered and really let me explain and talk about some of her "needs" as a very active dog was very reassuring). A piece of paper was printed up, to which I got to read and review all the information that would be placed on her "run". Now of course I had read about an incident that had occurred at the facility and asked the girls if would be able to take a tour, to which they enthusiastically answered "of course!". The girl did explain that the group playtime had just started and that dogs were being taken out and if I would be willing to wait a minute to make sure everyone was safely outside. Of course I didn't mind! Can I just say how blown away I was by the cleanliness of the place! You would have never known that there were even dogs in the place if they didn't all start excitedly barking as soon as we walked back! Again of course with the incident that had occurred in mind, I asked if I could see the outside kennels. She pointed out what had been done to reinforce them and even made a point at an empty one to show how the safety bar prevented the doors from opening outwards, or any size dog to potentially squeeze under them. Coming back up to the desk I thanked her for spending the time to reassure such a nervous mom and embarrassingly enough started to tear up like a mom leaving her child at summer camp. The other girl smiled and said, "Don't worry, we've all been there too!" and handed me a tissue. It was so wonderful to see such passionate and caring people! Upon picking up my nutty girl on Sunday evening, I was greeted by a clearly worn out little girl. She greeted me tail wagging, and a big Auzzie smile on her face.She also gave me a little card on "What to expect when bringing your dog home" and noted to avoid food and water for the first little bit to avoid an upset tummy and to not be too worried if she slept the next day or so because she had done so much playing! And boy was my little girl zonked out for the next day and a half! All in all, this facility is definitely my kennel of choice. An absolutely wonderful experience all around. And the best of all was I had a happy tuckered out pooch the whole next day! Cat Boarding Review Based on the website, we thought this would be a low-frill, reasonably-priced option for boarding our cats. However, I would NOT recommend it if your cats are easily stressed (there is a lot of commotion at times) or if they are on medications. Upon picking my cats up, I discovered that one of them had missed an evening dose of medicine (he has a heart condition). Another one of the cats had either been double-dosed or the rest of her medicine had been misplaced. The employee checking us out did apologize but could not find a record of who had cared for the cats on the day of the missed dose. We are truly grateful that we found a place that our dog Tripper absolutely loves!! He always knows where is he is going the minute we take the turn around the bend on 140. His tail starts wagging, he starts "talking" and cannot wait to get out of the car. Every person that works there Tripper greets with incredible glee and enthusiasm. Our pets are as important to us...and we want the best care possible. Tripper definitely thinks that daycare is his second home....we know that it's definitely his 2nd family!! He has been going there for the last 10 years, and I can't imagine him going anywhere else!! The staff is awesome! So friendly and caring. If Tripper gets tired from playing outside (he is an old man now!) and needs to have down time, he lets them know by going to the door and the staff lets him inside. The owners & staff have accommodated us every single time we have called-whether it be for last minute care or an end of day call asking "can he spend the night". Just started bringing my new 3-yr old hound here for daycare once a week. The grounds are great for active, outdoor dogs. Lots of space for them to run and play. The staff is friendly and helpful and works with you to make sure your dog feels comfortable and gets established with the right group of other dogs. We can't say enough about Gibson's. We have used them for our Golden Retrievers for at least ten years for day care and boarding. Our dog cannot wait to get back with the other dogs and is more interested in saying goodbye to the staff than seeing me at pickup time. First of all, don't bother paying for playtime.. it doesn't exist. Also, Bob constantly overbooks... so if you are paying for a kennel and outdoor time, your dog might actually be staying in a crate. Further, if you are not a regular, they will not treat your dog the same as the dogs they "love". Most of the staff is friendly and takes good care of the dogs but there are a few who take shortcuts and won't always take your dogs out before bed or give them a bed/blanket to sleep on. They also have no trained medical staff on hand, so don't count on your pet's medications always being administered, or being administered properly. This place is not the worst in the world, but it is certainly NOT the best. read more

My dog went to day care 1-2 times a week from October - December. I dropped my dog off at day care on Monday morning (12/9), as usual, and my fiance picked her up around 4pm on Monday, also as usual. When he got her home, he saw a large cut on her side. She has black fur, so taking her out into the car in the dark, he didn't see it until he got her inside to the light. The gash was still bleeding slightly, but appeared to have clotted some, as it had apparently occurred hours before. Long story short, she got cut at daycare. No one called us or reported the accident. Either no one saw it happen, or someone saw it happened and did nothing about it. Whichever the case, it was incredibly upsetting. Our dog had to have immediate surgery, went under anesthesia, had numerous sutures and had to have them removed two weeks later. She was on antibiotics and pain medication for weeks. She wasn't allowed to play and had to remain on-leash when outside at all times. Our vet did an incredible job and we are so grateful. I'm not mad she got hurt, upset of course, but not mad - she is a puppy and she plays rough. She likes to tumble about with the big dogs - accidents happen. What we are so upset about is that no one told us or saw it happen. The vet said she must have been bleeding significantly for sometime. It was a severe injury, so she probably cried/whined. Why didn't anyone see this happen? Or hear her? I called Gibson Kennels on Friday (I waited until then as I wanted to have a professional conversation and I needed to calm down before speaking to them) and spoke to the manager and then an owner. He reassured me things like that "didn't happen there" and was very apologetic. He asked if he could follow up with us, but never did. It's not about the money - although the surgery was very expensive - it's about the fact that no one saw or cared to report such an injury. We trusted Gibson with our baby and were so disappointed this all turned out the way it did. We have not, nor will we ever, bring our dog back there. read more

Very Disappointed! I've used Gibsons several times for my two dogs. However, after this past weekend - never again! Both dogs came home very smelly and now with Kennel Cough! I spoke to the manager to tell him about my dogs, and he informed me that he's had 15 cases of kennel cough in the past 2 months. Never was I told that this highly contagious condition was in the kennel at all and my dogs were at risk for catching it even after being vaccinated. As I told him, that had I known, I never would have left them! He was unconcerned about it. It's clearly just a business for them, without regard for the animals in their care! read more

My husband likes boarding our dog here. We've never had a problem. We do pay for the extra play time but have no idea if that happens or not. We picked our dog up on Sat and noticed right away she was thinner,coughing, and warm to the touch. I'm surprised no one called to tell us she has kennel cough (and she was vaccinated). Just read on here another dog a few days before we boarded our dog became sick as well. A phone call would have been nice. read more

I think that most of the people who work here do a great job. I had an issue with the trainers there, in particular Mary. My GSD puppy attended daycare here and I was constantly being pulled aside by Mary when he was "acting like a GSD", starting when he was 4 months old. I use a different trainer and she was always asking me to ask my trainer questions, which wasn't very reassuring. If you have a high energy, high drive dog, this may not be the best place. If you have a herding breed this may also not be the best place for your dog. I was very unhappy with how things ended and would not send my dog back there or recommend this to anyone. Outstanding service and care. The business owner lives on-site and is very attentive of the kennels. All the staff are animal-lovers and very helpful; the facility is pristine and accommodating. Very positive experience with boarding and grooming. Our dog stayed for a full week and came home happy and stress free. The play time left him in great shape and the grooming was spotless.
