So we brought in our GS dog for his 3rd Birthday . We and he (dog) were so excited . As we came in the store was not crowded at all.. 3 employees passed us and not one greet . I was looking purchase the flea tick pills which I understand needs to be approved by a vet (which is nothing more than approval sign off) Any how I believe the person at the counter was "Lam" (probably manager) Had an attitude not friendly at all.. Stated it will be about 30 min wait.. When clearly I saw a Vet who was not busy . All he had to do is walk back there and get a quick approval . SMH.... I brought it to his attention . He stated that he will wait until a vet calls on him .. WTH .. I was so upset . I walked out. I can tell he can careless whether I stayed or not.. My thing is this... Be a good customer service rep. This Petco is one of the best Petco's I have been to. It is always very clean & organized every time I go. The employees are always very nice. Many of them have helped me carry out my fish tanks & other items, and always been very nice about it. They have a big selection of animals to choose from. Their animals always seem very healthy, and are always active! That's a great thing to see. They seem to be well cared for. I came to this Petco to purchase a Leopard Gecko, and was very happy with my experience here. All their Leopard Geckos were chunky and active! The employees asked me if I had everything setup before purchasing my gecko, and I think it's a great thing that they ask this. Nancy helped me upfront and told me a few facts & care info that was correct! Nancy then gave me coupons, food for my gecko, and an adoption bag after my purchase. I really do love this location. It's always clean and the staff is almost always very friendly and attentive which is why I even gave stars. Went a couple days ago and don't know how to feel when I saw an employee named Zach yelling at someones child. Nothing wrong with telling a kid to cut it out but the poor kid look mortified. Who crapped in his cereal? Hopefully this isnt a common thing and he was just having a bad day but it was really concerning. read more

Worst customer service ever. The employees are rude, the person who claimed to be the manager, Joyce,is the worst. She doesn't even greet when greeted, she has an attitude. I don't understand if she hates her job or it's always in a bad mood when I visit but she is always rude. I can't explain how she can be the manager. I've been shopping at Petco for years now I buy everything for my guinea pig, cat and dog here because it's close to home but I'm getting fed up. I went to petco even though I have a vet I usually see but the wait at the vet was always so long it would be between 2-4 hours sometimes!! It's crazy how long the wait would be, it was so long because they do a discount day for vaccines and it's only 35$ on Wednesday's. I went to petco because I hoped the wait would be a lot less and it was thankfully much shorter. I was helped within 30 min. But I give it a 3 star rating because they don't look to give you the best price for only what you need, they will try and talk very quickly and try to sell you on a package you don't need! I paid 70$ to get my puppies vaccines and all he needed was his second set of parvo shots, she talked so fast and mentioned rabies shots I thought it was all included for his next set... I go back when the vet tells me to and then come to find out they say my puppy is too young I need to come back in 2 weeks, and then I ask his shots are already paid for I got the package, she tells me, "sorry no they aren't we don't have any packages like that" so I paid 70$ for one set of shots!!! I felt bamboozeled for sure. So I took my business back to the original vet and paid 40$ for his last set of shots and his rabies. Sometimes you just got to wait a little longer for a better deal. I only waited 1 1/2 this time I went in the evening much less people. Just don't let them fast talk you into a bad deal that you don't need read more

On Nov. 5th, 2015 I visited the store. I pulled 3 bags of Blue Buffalo Dog Food, at approximately 30.00 each. I presented the cashier 3, $3.00 coupons, for a total discount of 9.00. His name Is Armando. He tried entering coupons in the register, and their system would not accept them. It didn't help that he had a cold or runny nose and was wiping his snotty nose on his fingers, and handling my coupons at the same time. He called Jessica the manager, and she came out and took the coupons back. I waited for close to 10 min. She came back out and told me that they would not be able to accept these coupons, and did not offer a reason. I asked for my mucus infected coupons back, and advised her that Petsmart would be glad to have my business, that the only reason I came there was because of proximity to my home. I then went to Petsmart at Downey Landing and grabbed the 3 bags of food, and proceeded to check out. Sure enough the system would not accept the coupons, and Eddie the manager was called to the register. He looked at the coupons closely and did an override and then pulled me aside. He discretely told me that Jessica the manager at Petco, had called him telling him that I was shopping with fraud coupons...??? Really Jessica??? Do the Math. 3 bags of dog food worth 90.00 I would present 9.00 worth of fraud coupons. As far as I am concerned Petco hires minimum wage morons to manage and run a register and the gull to accuse an innocent customer of fraud. I have reported them to all agencies including Health Department, Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs office, and left a message with their corporate office. What would my dog Sammy do without Petco? He'd be cold during the harsh LA winters if he couldn't wear his plaid coat with the corduroy collar. His teeth would fall out if we didn't buy him his uber expensive yet apparently tasty greenies. Petco is or can be your pets Heaven. Petco is awesome for your Dog more than anything.. they can go in with you..isle after isle and even sample some snacks.. ooops..little accident happens..not a problem ..they'll clean it right up. In 2nd place maybe cats..3rd and on I'm not sure ..everything else they're limited ..even if you choose fish as 3rd..they dont really have those rare awesome looking fishes ..not enough if any bottom feeders and the tanks aren't crisp clear..birds? Not really..not a big variety ..reptiles? Not really..other pets who knows ..see, not only is it pricy but if you have a bird..a small bird shop is cheaper and better..if you want rare beautiful fishes and everything you need..those small fish shops have way more and more affordable..reptiles same..Petco is cats and dogs..if anyone gets anything else it's because they had no choice.. I'm not capping on Petco..I like Petco..I would take my Rottweilers with me and always saw how happy they were ..its just not a Petco but a Dog and Cat Co..let's be real.. it's a 3 1/2 star place..customer service is overall good but can't say 4 or 5 stars read more

Alexis has always taken amazing care of my pups. I went in for the make rover special which includes: nail trim, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing. I've tried time and time again to do this myself but it is tough. I'm glad I came in, my dogs were scared but Alexis, as always took amazing care of them! This will now be added to a monthly routine. Wow! One word-RUDE!!! I never had a problem with petco before, maybe because i never needed an actual person to help me. I went for a dog kennel & asked the woman at the register. She said she would send someone (she was nice). "Someone" didnt come, so i went back up front. This time she forced-yes, forced-another woman to help me. I showed her on my phone what i wanted. Maybe this is my stupidity, but i do a lot of online shopping so i dont know, but the prices online at the petco website were about half of the store. So i said, thats not the price. The woman reluctantly and with great exasperation told me prices were cheaper online. The site did not say that anywhere, no "online exclusive" or "20% off stores!". I said "okay thanks" and left. I figure that customer service = purchases = paychecks. I'd rather take my business elsewhere until all the current employees there have been fired or have moved on to another place that will go down because of their attitude. read more

I went in with my boyfriend to get some toys for my silky terrier. Everything was fine till we checked out with Joyce before she helped us she was telling the person before us that she couldn't wait to leave California to go back to Arkansas with her dad. When we checked out the total was $13.06 and my bf asked if I had .06 so I gave it go her and she made a dirty look and said well I guess I didn't have to open this change right? The store is clean, yada yada!! The staff there are so unprofessional. I asked one girl there for some crickets and she gave me an attitude like i interrupted her shelf stocking time or something. I walked in there two weeks ago and I stood around and walked around waiting for someone to help me. It was like a desert in that joint. No employees around except the cashier. No one pays attention. I typically take my dog here for grooming services! They always do an Amazing job and take great care of animals. However this review is for the petco clinic they have on Sunday's. The vet they have attending is very rude with little to no "bedside manner". Being straight forward I appreciate but rude and Condescending are unacceptable! She also came out complaining about the long line and the fact that she "wasn't going to get a lunch break" and spoke rudely to the vet tech helping check in pet owners. Not only myself but the two couples behind me also commented to the tech about the way the vet spoke to her. Find a new vet Petco and you'll have more pet owners that are willing to utilize your service! I asked to be transferred to reptiles and they put me on hold AGAIN after another TEN minutes, i just hung up. I have been going to this Petco for several years for dog food and toys & pet grooming. I have never been disappointed. The main reason why I decided to finally write a review is because this Petco has a stellar employee. The young female cashier working around 4pm on 4/28/14 saved my debit card after I accidentally left it in the store. I searched my purse like a mad woman & still decided to take a chance & check the store. She saved it for me in the register. Wow! I had just spent 30 minutes going through every possible negative scenario & Petco's kind & honest employee saved me from an anxiety attack. I just visited this location 18NOV2014 and the poor conures are in horrible condition tucked away from people and in separatr cages, they are said to be good with people,yet they try to get away when you enter the secluded room. Also, way too expensive for the condition. Jenday conure is named "Sunday". They seem to not give any attention to these animals and should be shut down for neglect.
