There is one young man that works there and he was very conscientious of our needs as well as people checking out (they seem short staffed). I have taken my dog for grooming there twice. The staff are not highly professional, but they met the minimum standards of tolerable. This time, however, the woman who groomed my dog, was rude. There was an added charge for "supplies and equipment" on top of the normal charge for grooming. They did not tell me about the extra charge, and when I asked about it the "manager" who was a heavily tattooed, obnoxious woman with multiple piercings, told me that was the usual charge. when I went to pick up my dog, they told me to come back in an hour. (There was another couple with two dogs who were also turned away abruptly.' I know reading the Bloomberg news that Petcomis a badly managed company, and it seems that the lack of training and good management is trickling down to the customers. Have already found another place to groom my dog. It may be best to skip this place. read more

Not a bad store despite being part of a chain! It's a decent size store with basically everything you need to meet the general -and fun- needs of your pet! It was well stocked when we came in and there were a variety of options for the majority of things. The prices are relatively reasonable on most items and the easy members prices reflect even better deals. We brought our little boston terrier in for a nail trim, as she has black nails which makes it difficult to do yourself sometimes. The groomer was very professional, kind with our dog and was able to finish the job quickly for a decent price. There definitely is no shortage of grooming customers so they clearly do a great job! We visit my parents who live in the area a few times a month, and now we'll be bring our dog in for upkeep when we're in town. I didn't get a chance to really look through the fish and reptile area but it looked like there were a lot of options. Nice store! read more

Absolutely the worst customer service experience of my entire life. Walked in and Madeline said hi. I immediately got what I needed and went to the register - no one there. I waited patiently but nothing. At that point I was curious how long it would be before someone noticed me standing there with my credit card in hand. After 10 minutes I called the store and Nicole came over. "Are you calling Petco ?" she asked. "Yes, I've been waiting here 10 minutes" I said. Her response? "There's no way you were waiting here 10 minuites". So I called for the manager - the same Madeline who said hi to me when I walked in. "How long ago did I walk in when you said hi to me?" I asked her. Her response? "I am unable to confirm any time." That's it. No other comments, just a blank stare. So I tol;d Madeline I would be complaining to corporate and she just walked away. Took my golden doodle puppy in for his first grooming and repeatedly told them to not shave him. Stressed repeatedly that I wanted to retain all of his wonderful floofiness. Came back to a dog that had been shaved to 1/2 inch over his entire body. I burst into tears right there. The groomer kept saying that this was what I asked for and the manager offered a 20% discount (which is what they are offering for the weekend anyway so thanks for nothing). My wonderful fluffy pupper looks terrible and I can't even look at him without bursting into tears again. If I could give them negative stars I would. read more

I have shopped at Petco in Delafield for over a decade- already, I know they aren't par to the local natural pet food stores- but I've shopped there for various supplies, and a couple cute lil beta fish we've had over the years. Today was an experience out of the Twilight Zone. We have beta fish- one we've had for years, and the other that we had for 3 1/2-4 years recently died. We finally decided it was time to replace our little Zoso. So I re-set-up the tank early this am, and we took our 2 year old to pick out a new one. Initially, we were asked if we needed help, and we said no, bc we've done this before, and have all the supplies. Once the first girl walked away, we were quickly approached by another (Liz), asking how big the tank was- it's 2.5 gal (which, for those of you that have betas, is actually a quite solid size (the store sells 1 gal 'beta' tanks)- then she asked when the tank was set up- I answered 'this morning,' to which she said "it needs to run at least 2 days (well, since the beta's tiny Tupperware they sell it in would need to sit on the counter next to it overnight to acclimate temps, that would be plenty of time by tomorrow)- then, she asked if it has a heater (the tanks they sell do not have heaters)- I told her no, but we keep our home over 70 degrees, and we've never been told by staff here that a beta needs a heater. After her giving us her opinion on the matter, she walked away and I said to my husband, 'wow, back off. What the heck, none of these Tupperware are heated.' She likely heard me, and wasn't pleased, and what happened next was mind blowing- We picked a fish and headed to the register, where then the cashier (Beverly) asks: "Juliette, are these the people?" Immediately I'm confused as to what's happening. Then, Juliette starts radio-ing whoever else like she's the FBI, and it's time to call in SWAT. It was insane. I told them we've had beta fish for over a decade and they live happily for years in our home. She asks "how many years?" (Are we for real right now!?) I said, "each have lived about 4 years. We don't have heaters, but our home is above 70 degrees." Then I asked: "Do you put these guys in heated tanks at store close?" Here's her awesome answer: "No, but that's why we keep it so warm in here." !!! The other girl says: "we do water changes." I said- "water changes and a heater aren't the same thing." Then Juliette says "we're not saying you can't buy the fish." I'm like, are we joking right now?! I told her "I don't want to buy the fish anymore, or anything else from your store- ever- but I would like to speak with a manager." (as my 2 year old is starting to get upset) They tell me that the woman in the back (Liz), IS the manager. So I asked for the number to someone else, like director, or regional manager. They had none ("we don't have numbers, do we?" The cashier said) They eventually gave us a number to customer service, and we left fishless and dumbfounded at what the heck just happened. Clearly, we called and reported the experience. We were treated like vandals or criminals all for not heating a beta tank- which they also DON'T DO!!! We will love the heck out of a new beta from somewhere else. This place has lost us as customers, and should really reign in their staff to know where their lane ends. I was denied a sale of pet shrimp.2 employees were questioning me about what I had for tank size, heater,etc. The employees were questioning me like I didn't know what I was doing and the employees were not very nice and they denied me the sale because of me not having the amount of gallons that they wanted me to have for my tank or the heater or a lid for my tank . I wouldn't recommend this location due to my experience. Not to mention that there were a few dead fish in some of the tanks which I didn't like to see. The customer service was terrible and the employees need to treat the customers better . I have been at this location before and had a better experience than this one. I've been buying fish from the Delafield, Wi store for some time now and never had any issues until yesterday. On August 24th I purchased an albino cory cat and 6 other fish. The cory was acclimated to a tank with my betta. (The tank is properly set up and cycled. I have 4 tanks) By August 28th the albino cory cat was dead. Went to the store with the dead fish in an old betta cup and receipt for a refund. The cashier asked if I had a separate water sample. I said I was not aware I needed to bring in a water sample. She said the staff always tells customers they need to bring one in if a fish dies. I told her I have never been told this when I purchased fish there in the past. She argued and said they always tell customers this. I told her there must have been something wrong with this fish. I told her i put this fish in the tank my betta and now he is sick. She said well Im not sure what to do without a water sample. Another staff member walked up to the register who was informed on the situation and she said they require a water sample. I told her I've never been told that before. She said it's on the back of the receipt. I told her it is not on the back of the receipt ( see attached photo of the back of the receipt). She said well its on the front of the receipt. It is not on the front of the receipt either. She said well it's on the bag. I didn't have the bag since it was disposed of once the fish was acclimated. I didn't know I needed to keep every bag once a fish was put into a tank. She then told me that I could not buy another fish without a water sample. I said I just wanted a refund not another fish and had no intentionon buying another fish. They didn't even know what they were doing during the refund. I brought the fish back in an old betta cup because I didn't have the bag it was brought home in. They scanned the cup and I was told again I needed a water sample and I can't get another fish. I held up the cup and said its a cory cat not a betta I wanted a refund for. If they actually looked at the receipt they would have seen this. After all the bs I was refunded for the fish. From the second I walked up to the register for a refund on the dead fish, the staff was nothing but rude and confrontational. They must think they are the only people that know anything about fish and that customers don't know a damn thing. After I left the store I decided to look up their return policy online. It states on their website that a water sample is RECOMMENDED not required like the staff stated multiple times. Not like this company cares but I will never purchase anything from this store again! Your staff needs an attitude adjustment, more training on how to treat their customers, read the back & front of their receipts on what the policy actually says on it and not assumed customers know nothing about fish! As I'm writing this my poor betta that I've had for over 6 months who was with this fish has died!! read more

While in the area for a car show I noticed the Petco store and since I was already going to Petco I stopped at this one, what a great day to do everything in one area including lunch for a change. The store was well stocked and at least three people asked to help me while in the store so service was great but I already new what I was getting. After countless hours of confusing research I felt that the Blue Buffalo company cat food would be a high quality option vs what I was feeding my cat and at $8 off on my bag was nice. She has been on BB for a couple years now and her coat is noticeably nicer with the change so maybe it works. The Feline pine litter is so nice because of the nice pine smell, no more urine smell from litter box and no messy tracking the clay litter all over by kitty. I just seem to gravitate to Petco for my pet needs which always delivers. read more

If you stop in to get items for your pet you will probably not have a problem. However, if you are going for Saltwater fish, I feel like this is a bad idea. I enjoy going to just look at the fish. I noticed multiple problems. I noticed small white dots on fish which maybe ich, saw some bigger white dots on other fish on the gills, which maybe flukes and some with dull colors and tattered fins. I talked to a pet manager thinking I might try and "save" one and he said "I only sell healthy fish" implying there was no sick fish. I just had to walk away because I'm not sure how he can say that when all he had to do is look in the tanks. I can take pictures if needed. read more

I've been to countless petco stores and this is one of the worst locations for fish. Their tanks are so full of disease and countless dead fish. I've found so many dead bettas in uncleaned water. Bettas that don't get sold fast or I'm guessing are sick get thrown in the disease filled tanks which every time I see them are all dead instantly. I'm so sick of this location and it's managers who don't give a crap about these poor fish. Better to go to PetSmart in Brookfield or Waukesha as I've seen better care of their fish. read more

Scheduled a groom several weeks in advance....received 2 emails reminding me of the appointment and after driving a half hour to get there, and then being ignored for 10 minutes (she couldn't even look over and acknowledge that I was there or tell me she'd be right with me), then she has the nerve to tell me that my dog's groomer didn't show up and they texted me to reschedule the appointment - which they definitely did not (and I know they had the correct phone number since they called me during the previous groom). Wasted more than an hour and alot of gas for nothing but very bad service. read more

And as he was coming back to the groomers the lady that was trimming Apollos nails was hitting him in the side. I will NEVER be going back there again. Petco is a really great pet store. It has a lot of different options for every type of pet. They even keep small rodents on display which my siblings enjoy. Today, my puppy had an appointment for 11:30. They ended up getting him early. Anyway, they have this awesome deal for $15 for puppies. Bath, ear treatment, nail grinding, etc. Really worth the money, until they are more than six months of age. Then the deal ends. Anyway, all of the toys we bought our puppy have been long lasting and high quality. His treats we got from Petco are one of his favorites. And the prices aren't too crazy for a pet store that had competition. They even allow dogs inside the store as long as they are on leashes, which I think is amazing. Overall great place. read more

Do NOT take your dog to the Vetco clinic. They do not listen to what your wishes are and will administer whatever vaccinations they want, without communicating this to you before or after. My dog was due for annual vaccinations (rabies, distemper, and bordetella. When scheduling the appointment I indicated which vaccines I wanted. About one hour prior to the appointment, I received a call confirming which vaccines I wanted, including the 3 year rabies vaccine and excluding leptospirosis. Upon arrival, my vaccine preferences were repeated back to me and confirmed. After leaving, I realized in the paperwork that my dog was given the leptospirosis vaccine, without my consent, and was only given a 1 year rabies vaccine, not a 3 year. My dog was current on rabies and fully eligible for the 3 year rabies vaccine. I am a pet owner that provides all necessary care for my dog, but I prefer not to administer extra or optional vaccinations because my previous dog died of immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, which may be caused by over-vaccination and/or flea/tick medications. My dog is a very small, indoor pet and leptospirosis was not necessary. When I called Vetco to complain, they simply said, it was administered at the vet's discretion. Absolutely not acceptable, especially since the vet didn't bother communicating this before or after. If a medical doctor administered optional vaccines without patient consent, they would lose their license to practice! Next time, I'll just spend the money to see a quality vet that communicates with me about what care they are giving to my pet. Saving a few dollars is absolutely not worth having a vet do whatever they wanted to my pet. read more

If you think chain pet stores don't care about the animals they sell, then you have never been here. Not only will they not sell an animal if they realize it is sick, but they will also do their best to treat it. I haven't looked into it recently, but I know that in the past they would even treat beta fish. My current experience is with a hamster. When I went to purchase her, the employee noticed that she had something called "wet tail" which can actually be very deadly. He took her to the back right away and began treatment. This was 2-3 days ago and I called today and they were happy to give me an update that she is doing great! Hopefully she is back to full health soon so I can bring her to her new home :) Huge kudos to all the employees here for the care they give the animals!! read more

Dad moved here from Minnesota been here for three weeks he's lived in Wi most of his life. I called made an appt for his dog went in there to pick up dog three hours later dog was not ready the only thing done was a half ass hair cut. You can see long and short hair on the back side ears are really bad. Seems like the girl was more interested in smiling king than taking care of there client. This is the second time I've gone to Petco after calling him take my dogs in to get their nails cut. When I got to the store 45 minutes later they posted a sign in the grooming area they were closed at 11 AM due to stop staff shortages. I have a Coegi and she gets along fine with them and they do a great job on her. They always great her and she seams to like it here not try to pull back or not go. Being a Corgi just give her a reason not to do something or go somewhere she not like. We buy all her needs here as food, treats, toys, and ete. Iam happy with them. They have been very good to us and Callie loves the gal that does her nails. read more

PETCO VETCO SHOT CLINIC We are so disappointed that Petco Delafield no longer utilizes Heath4Paws shot clinic. Petco has started their own clinic, Vetco, and the process is horrible! It used to take us about 10 mins. to get all shots for 3 dogs. Today (2nd visit to this clinic in 6 months), it was another 1.5 hr process. Disorganized, move from one line to another, wait for text messages to go from one line to another. The whole thing is ridiculous.
