I would never take my dog here, Stephanie, one of the groomers Is rude and ignorant. I used to come here but I stopped when Elaine, the manager, left, she groomed my dog and was kind and friendly. I scheduled my dog for a groom a year later, thinking someone could groom my poodle. My child was bringing her late and I told Stephanie, whom I never met before, she didn't introduce herself, was not friendly, was short and quite brash in her tone, told me we had 15 minutes and then we can't get done. I would like to have known that as we drove 30 minutes to get here and were quite inconvenienced. Being late was out of our control. She asked how much longer, I told her she was right down the road, she said, well she has 2 minutes. She could have given us a minute longer or been kind, that goes a long way. I got my dog out of the car and walked inside, Stephanie was standing around, she wasn't doing another dog. You mean to tell me a couple minutes made a difference?! read more

I've been taking my Husky/Malamute here for the past 6 or 7 years now to get her groomed. I've requested the same primary and secondary groomers to ensure the outcome is the same each time. If you have a long hair breed--as the Malamutes are--I highly recommend requesting Coleen and Elaine. They are my go-to groomers and always do a fabulous job. This store is always stocked well and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful if you are unable to find something. They have a huge private parking lot, which they share with Staples next door. I was told this store will be relocating to a new building in the Garden State Race Track Shopping Center, which is just on the other side of the train tracks. First time in this pet store. I looked it up before driving over - my daughter wanted a Syrian hamster. I was told that they had "plenty" of many varieties. They did :) Nice, clean and colorful store. I like how it was organized too. All the pets looked healthy BUT in looking at the hamsters, the initial one that my daughter liked ... I asked if he had "wet tail," a common issue in hamsters, bc I saw his WET BUTT! Yes, the employee thought he had it! Acted like it was no big whoop, and even would've let us buy him if I hadn't opened my mouth! My girl says "is that contagious?" "Yes" and then she just proceeded to put him back with his cage mate?!! Uhhhh ... what?!! We then asked to see another, in another tank - what a cutie pie, and no wet tail! Ding! Ding! Ding! WINNER!!! "Garfield" is sweet, friendly, and curious. We love him already!!! We bought all of his supplies at the store too. 30 day guarantee. They NEVER have my cat's wet food in stock. It's a relatively popular brand (Tiki Cat) and I always get emails for deals or coupons and it is impossible to use them most of the time because everything is out of stock. I noticed that it's only the Cherry Hill location, the other locations around me have what I need. I give up, I always end up going to Concord Pets on 70 after going to Petco because they always have what I want. It's worth the extra drive because they have what I need for my cats. read more

It's perfectly fine. I needed some basic dog supplies and I was able to run in here and grab what I needed. While many of the supplies like dog food can be cheaper at mass market box stores, like others have said, coming here makes sense if you are in need of specialty items. Look for sales. I have been getting my dog groomed at Petco for years now and sadly to say this will be the last time. Usually Elaine cuts our labradoodle and always does a great job. Today I dropped him off and was told they were going to have to shave him. I was not happy. As I said we have been bringing him in for years and never has he been shaved. When I brought him home not only was my fiancé furious but he noticed all these bald spots and then long spots... to say the least his hair cut was not even. He called and he could have been nicer but the women who answered the phone could have been more professional and not said " well U should probably brush ur dog then." Decent pet store with people who seem to genuinely like animals. Although pet stores have higher prices in general (as compared to same item in Target, for example), they have more variety, which is nice. I have found Petco to be about as expensive as PetSmart, but they tend to run better sales. The staff is helpful and open another checkout lane if needed. Their stock of on-sale items is good too. I haven't used their grooming or training services so I can't comment on them. read more

Just left store Apparently moving. I was just in there 2 weeks ago for bully stick. They hiked up the cost of all bully sticks (all in packs) and then do not offer option to buy an individual stick. Maybe because they're about 8 bucks . Instead of 22.99 from 2 weeks ago they're asking 29.00 for same thing. Rip off. Did they really hike prices prior to move.???? Looks that way. We tend to prefer Petsmart, but have gone here as a fallback a few times recently. They also carry some items that Petco doesn't always carry (like the collar ID tack silencers). Service is always friendly, they revamped the store in the past year or so, it seems like they carry less brands, but for the brands they carry they have more variety. I really wanted to love it here. My first visit was fine, nothing amazing but not awful. Visit number 2 was going ok. They took my 2 kittens to the back for their shots. They are both about 3 months, so we're still doing new vaccines. When they came out I thought everything was fine, got some not so funny comments about them not wanting a shot. Then at check out with the "Vet Nurse" I was told "So I wouldn't recommend this, but I gave her cheese." I looked at her blankly and asked "which one?" She pointed out one of them and I said "so the one that has had inconsistent poop and diarrhea?" She continued to defend herself and say it was only a little bit...it's fine...etc. As someone who has had exclusively cats for over 30 years, I know that cheese is not necessarily the end of the world, but for a kitten who already has GI issues, I was appalled. So I took my dog here one week shy of her birthday (wanted her to look great for all her close ups lol). When I spoke to them on the phone they asked me what I wanted done, how much did she weigh and to bring her vaccine records. Sounded fine I told them she was 65pds and I wanted her bathed, nails, and scissored down her legs, just kinda outline her frame was the way they worded it and I said exactly! So she then told me that they might not be able to do anything more than a bath, uh what? "Well her first time some of them get really nervous on a table and it's to much and we don't want to make this a bad experience" she says. I said that she's on the table every month at the vet to get her nails grinded and never had a problem, plus check ups. So then I say I want her fur cut more than a bath, she gets bathed at home plenty we own a boat she swims then into the tub. They say they can't do that. Anyway I know that she'll be fine so I say whatever. So I start shopping around the store for her Halloween costume plus she was out growing her harness so I wanted to pick up one of those also, 15 minutes didn't even go by (I'm still shopping) they said she had a horrible reaction to the whole experience!! Mind you I saw them put her on the table and the only thing she was was confused, waiting for a command, sit, stay, good girl. So I went in there immediately the woman said she was unbathable! She started to wet my Golden Retriever and she freaked out so bad that the woman ended up drenching herself just to save her from her breaking her back. Unless this woman changed in the last 5 minutes bs! I asked why she was taking off of the table and she said she was quivering with fear and I said she looked like she was doing great to me just confused. They looked at each other and then she said you were watching and I said yes then they said she was growling but if I wanted to bring my (growling) dog back another day they'd set something up. I said give me my dog. She was absolutely soaked they didn't even offer to towel dry her!!! So now I'm in my car with a soaked non bathed dog thinking wtf do I do? So I headed to Petsmart in Cherry Hill across from the mall, I go in tell them what happened and they actually stayed past closing just to do her! They said she loved the bath, got on the table fine, she was a bit nervous about the hair dryer but once they turned it down she was fine. She got a gorgeous haircut and they said bring her back anytime she was a doll . I will never see the inside of Petco again!! Also I did stay inside Petsmart the whole time because I was afraid they would call but nope. After sharing this on township pages other people have seemed to have the exact same thing happen. Petco grooming is the worst! If a zero star was possible that's what it would have! I would love to put pictures of her up but I'd be afraid that people would think Petco did it. read more

We have been taking our pups to get groomed at Petco for about 4 years now and they have always been so great. We tried at first to find a good groomer in our area but did not have luck and tried Petco. The groomers have been consistent with the grooming and are always very friendly and caring. They do not seem to have a lot of turn over which is really nice. They always remember Luna and Molly and seem genuinely happy to see them. If you are looking for a groomer don't be turned off by it being a chain they treat you like a boutique doggy salon. read more

I can't speak for their grooming services, but their products are good. My most recent visit was because I needed some sort of anti itch relief for my Am Staffy. His skin gets dry in the winter so he gets itchy spots. One of the girls in the salon took me over to the grooming product section and said tea tree was really good to help them stop itching. She also suggested home remedies - which I thought was very helpful. I bought a bottle of tea tree spray, and of course I had to stop and get treats at their treat bar! The treat bar is so fun! You can mix and match treats, and you pay by the pound. It's a nice way to get a variety rather than buying a bag of one type of treat. So far the tea tree spray has worked - my pup is itching less which is great to see. I was very appreciative of the help I received. The store associate even mentioned about their vet service on Sundays (I had a not so nice experience at my vet the past visit so it was nice to hear about other options). read more

This place is an absolute last result for me. They have SIGNIFICANTLY higher prices than Petsmart. Every time i am forced to stumble in this store it's always a quick trip. Reviewing chain places can be difficult, and sometimes pointless, but my OCD won't let me skip it. Also, there can be some variation. Sometimes it's worth a little extra drive to get to that nice, we'll kept location. This Petco is that location. I pass two other Petcos to go shopping here and it's worth every penny in gas. It's clean, we'll stocked and with a staff that seems to have all finished high school and can speak clearly. That's a big plus and difficult to find at big box stores in Philly. Also, get a Petco card. The 5% back is awesome. read more

I've taken my dog to Petco for grooming for the last four years. Unfortunately after the last two times, I'm currently looking for a new groomer. Incident #1: A couple months ago after I paid and went to pick up my dog I was told by the groomer that she was not able to trim my dog's nails because she was alone. There were three people working when I dropped him off -- I don't know exactly when the others left but since my dog was there for 6 hours, I would think that at some point my dog's nails could have been trimmed. When I complained that I had just paid for his nails to be trimmed (she should have taken it off the bill before I paid), she said that she would "put a note in my file to trim his nails for free" when I was able to bring him back. But when I took him back, there was no note and I had to push to get his nails done for free. Incident #2: Today when I picked my dog up, the groomer said she had a little trouble with the clippers and the guard came off. I attached a picture. If you can't see it, basically she shaved his chest bald. Luckily he wasn't cut. She said that I could bring him back when his hair grew out a little and they would fix it up. WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP COMING BACK SO THEY CAN FIX THEIR MISTAKES? It's inconvenient. It's a waste of my time. I want a groomer that does a decent job the FIRST time. read more

Took the pup in for her first haircut yesterday and had mixed feelings about my experience. First of all, the prices are outrageous. $91 to have my dog's hair cut off? I'll be heading to Walmart later today to get a set of dog clippers. Upon arrival, I was thankful for the ladies in the grooming shop to be excited about seeing our dog. BUT...that high-pitched sound that could break glass that they squeal is more than I can take! If they know that this type of excitement is going to make a dog pee, why do they do it? I spent an hour at the park just before I brought her in for grooming so that she wouldn't act a fool once we got there. It's no fun for the owner who is trying to control their dog with one arm and trying to hold onto car keys, wallet, glasses, pet records, etc. in the other while someone is over-stimulating their dog. In the meantime, my dog is sitting in her own urine, wagging her tail and splashing her urine all over the lower half of my body. It is ANNOYING! How about acting like professionals, checking in my dog, and once she's acclimated to the surroundings, you can pet her. I just don't understand why any groomer would want to get a dog all hyped up before attempting to groom. This is the equivalent of giving your kid a can of soda and a candy bar just before getting his/her hair cut. And if that wasn't bad enough, the other assistant who brought our dog out, after being at PETCO for more than six hours, starting talking to her in that crazy, unnatural voice again, causing the dog to urinate yet again. They then had to take her back to the dog bathing area and clean her paws and legs all over again. Then I was given a dog with wet paws to put inside my brand new car. I guess what really bothered me the most was when I was checking out, I heard the groomer complain about my dog peeing when she thought I was nowhere around. That upset me. We've lived a mile down the road from PETCO for over five years and we've been loyal to the store since we've lived here. Unfortunately, this experience is enough to make me choose PetSmart from this point forward. read more

Just left the groomers .. waste of my damn time. Felt like the groomer didn't want to cut our dogs hair (cockerspaniel). Complained the hair on the ears were too thick to cut with her precious scissors.. which I'm assuming are plastic scissors?? There policy is to not muzzle the dog's. Don't take your dog here unless you already washed them first.. because they act like it's too hard.. They should of told me this BS before we set the appointment. Will never take my dog to be groomed here again. I spoke to the groomer beforehand about my dog being anxious and snippy the previous time and asked her what I could do to help. She told me it's very common in young dogs and she sees it all the time so I shouldn't worry. After three hours I was able to pick up my 8 pound dog and was spoken to so rudely by the groomer. On top of being extremely offensive, they charged me $20 for special handling. My dog wasn't even fully groomed and I had to pay $92! Extremely disappointed. read more

This review is specifically for their grooming service. I had made a grooming appointment a few days in advance for my Goldendoodle for a basic ear and teeth cleaning with a nail trim, a job that typically takes no more than 20 minutes. Upon dropping my dog off I mentioned that I would be in the area for the next 1-2 hours running errands so it wasn't a huge rush. The groomer Dawn made it a point to elaborate on how busy she was and that she would try and 'fit' Bruce in during one of her more involved grooming appointments. After three hours passed and I still had not heard back from them I called and was told she might be able to sneak Bruce in between the job she was wrapping up and her next appointment. I arrive shortly after the phone call to find that not only has Bruce been locked in a crate for the last three hours Dawn also took the liberty of shaving his face and underside. After confronting her about the fact that we specifically asked not to have his hair trimmed she dismissed us and went about her work. Extremely disappointed with the overall customer service. Having made an appointment in advance apparently doesn't guarantee that you pet will be seen in a reasonable amount of time. I won't be going back here again! read more

I called on Thursday night to see if they had a self service doggie wash and was told that I needed my dog's rabies shots to use it. I have used many self service doggie washes and never needed any shot records to use it...maybe to get groomed but not a self service machine. read more

The only place we'll be going to get our cat's nails cut from here on out! We used to do it at home, but the care that Buster receives is SO worth the extra cost every 2 months. The cat was so calm and relaxed after getting his nails cut that when I went to pick him up the groomer was holding him and petting him, and he actually fell asleep on the car ride home. If I could give you a ZERO I would. Your pharmacy and customer service has a total disconnect. I HAD a repeat delivery for Sentinel for my dog (a Great Dane who weighs 150 pounds). Because of her weight, she requires to different doses of the Sentinel. I do not understand how and why you would sent only 1/2 of the dose and cancelled the other. In essence, what you sent me was useless. I contacted customer service, to no avail. I contacted them again and this time requested a supervisor (10/16/2020). The supervisor saw the problem, advised that she put it in for a overnight delivery and that I would receive it the next day. I contacted customer service the next day and was advised that it was a 2 day delivery and that I would have it on Monday (10/19/2020). Monday came and I called again, this time I was told that it was in the pharmacy pending a written script. I once again asked for a supervisor and advised that I wanted to cancel this order and to refund me. I am still awaiting the refund. You pride yourselves on animal health. This situation makes me wonder if your pharmacy is capable of handling any type of medications. I contacted the corporate office immediately after my final talk with customer service. I spoke on deaf ears. Thankfully, I was able to obtain the medicine from another provider. I no longer trust your company and will not be doing further business with you. I hope that anyone who uses your pharmacy stays on top of them because the mistakes they make can cause extreme harm. read more

Took my dog Kole (American Staffordshire Terrier) to get groomed today Feb. 15th 2014 @ 12pm. We were in the grooming section waiting to be checked in when my dog Kole went go sniff another dog and got bit in the face and drew blood! They refused to groom Kole after that, yet they still took the Boston Terrier that bit my dog. All they did was give us 3 different excuses as to why they wouldn't groom him and gave us $5.00 coupon and told us to come back another day because it was adoption day! Will never go back to Petco of Cherry Hill! I put call into their cooperate office and the better bureau. We have been coming here for years for small pets, food, crickets for geckos, several fish. So I won't 1-star over all, but today's experience was definitely a 1 star experience. We waited for a half hour for crickets. Yes. 30 minutes. My daughter paid for 3 half dozen crickets (we have 3 geckos) at 3:45. At 4 she texted me (I was in the car) that they were really busy and she wasn't sure when they were going to get the crickets. At 4:05 I went inside to see what was going on. At 4:10 the girl says she'll get the crickets. She gets a bag of 18 crickets. I tell her no, I need 3 half dozen crickets which I had told her when she got them. She says yeah, 3x6 is 18. Finally she gets the correct crickets. At 4:15. Then another cashier proceeds to tell me if I'll just wait the manager will compensate me. Ha! If I wait longer? No thanks. I want a half hour of my life back + the 5 minutes it took me to type this. Disappointed at the level of incompetence. read more

I got my first two pet rats here and they are awesome,smart,never been sick,never bite. I can not say the same for the other big chain which costs 5x as much or the private breeder I used.
