I called halfway through her visit like a nervous parent to check on her, and they gave me an update and made me feel at ease. Ownership is new in last 1.5 years. Please take note when you read excellent reviews and select a service based on what those experiences reflect. Older reviews are about the previous owners/staff which is important when you trust a place with your cherished pet. My dog had a bad experience there recently and had to go to the vet --emergency visit that was suggested by reputable vet upon hearing of the problem. I contacted the groomer and she returned my call during my call with GSAH. I put vet on hold in case groomer could give me useful information. The owner's daughter could not have been more defensive. Upon returning to vet on hold, I reported groomer was defensive and had no information to share except for hypoallergenic products used. I told her the dog's eye was held closed for over 5 hrs after the groom when I called vet for help. Natalie was told what happened and she offered no help, interest, compassion or concern for my dog. She was completely uninterested and cold (Very warm prior to the bad experience). I texted groom number a week later (I have it as evidence) w/details of visit $182 vet visit including the for the eye emergency. Vet had advised I bring pup in asap (info shared w/groomer) as that was too long for dog's eye to remain closed and eye probs can get worse fast. So to clarify to the owner below, I gave Natalie/owners an entire week to see if they'd inquire about my dog's eye. No follow up. They knew she had to go to the vet as an emergency because my call was returned while talking to vet who had been placed on hold. Owner reaction to the review feels like too little too late for all the wrong reasons. It reveals a lot more about the absolute lack of concern for my dog's welfare. A simple human error/problem explained by groomer would have felt honest to me. I can work with honest. Denial and no concern at all was heard loud and clear until this yelp review. I have a copy of the text response by owner to my text to them. It merely confirmed cancellation of the next groom appts. Happy to include that text exchange as visual evidence to anyone seeking proof... I also have time stamped photos of my dog with her right eye closed and not moving all day after the appt. And i have the vet's bill of record for $182 that got no response from owners. I did not want to leave a review as I explained to Yelp. I'm leaving it for people like me who read reviews to make a decision. I wouldn't have left a review at all if they had shown any concern for my vulnerable, defenseless 4 lb dog. That cold disinterested response to my phone call and text (with details about the dog emergency) spoke volumes --it was all I needed to know after my dog was hurt. I have proof of all above. Needless to say, pet owners should know that reviews are not always what they seem and it's not helpful to me when they don't reflect the current ownership. It's too unreliable for important decisions like the safety of my pet. Take note because Yelp explained to me that if someone buys a business and keeps the name--they keep all the prior reviews that were left for the previous owners/management/staff. Not the way I will ever select anything for my dog again. Very disappointing to be treated so badly by a grooming business. I have tried 3 groomers now. This one was almost twice the cost and the first and only time my dog came home with any physical problem. Oh, and ps... I did not say what they claim I did. We adopted our Brittany Spaniel almost a year ago and never had him groomed. He's almost 2 and this was his first grooming experience so we were nervous how he'd handle it. I called and got a same-day appointment for a cut due to someone's cancellation. We arrived and received quick service. Helen stopped grooming another dog to meet our pup and discuss what we wanted done. We showed her a couple pictures and she downplayed their ability to give him that standard Brittany Spaniel look (trim body, shaggy ears/hocks). We got a call 2 hours later that he was ready for pickup. We feared he had a traumatizing 2 hours since he'd never been groomed. We showed up and everyone was smiling. Our pup got an "A+++++" on his report card for behavior. I think that says more about them as experienced groomers than it does about him. He looked perfect and smelled great. Bravo! I have been taking my dogs here for bathing and grooming for almost 2 years now. It's a bit of a drive for me and there are grooming salons closer to me, but it is worth the drive for me. I couldn't be happier with how my dogs look when I pick them up. My groomer takes her time to make sure to know what I want for each dog and they look perfect every time. I also like the fact that the dogs are crated right in the the front. When you come in you can see all of them. One of my dogs gets upset when she is left alone in a crate, but when she is there she is fine because she can see everyone and see what's going on. My dogs are never hesitant about going into the salon which tells me that it is not a stressful situation for them when they are there. The salon changed ownership since I've been going there. I thought it was a great place when we first started going, but I have to say that the new owners have added some nice touches. Everyone is so nice and friendly and the overall energy feels happier. I highly recommend Scissors n Suds. I have to add that our groomer, Jess is the best groomer we've ever had over 2 decades of having dogs. Can't imagine taking my dogs anywhere else. read more

They really do such a great job and our 2 boys ( a frenchie and a Maltese ) get excited as soon as we come in because they know there in good hands and know they are going to leave clean and smelling great! As a proud mama of a springer spaniel puppy.....it was finally time to get Chipper a haircut before he raced around on the beach for the summer. Chipper and I were greeted with his name on the wipe board as soon as we walked in the door. I felt like my little kid was going to kindergarten or something! Adorable. Helen, the owner, clearly loves all of the dogs that come in, and Chip took a liking to her immediately. Chip settled into a kennel, and when I came back three hours later, he was perfectly groomed to exactly the specs I had given them, clean, happy, and with a cute little bandana tied around his neck. He even got a report card, a "B"....not bad for a puppys first grooming. Very neat and clean, great staff, and a small retail area in front. Helen and her staff are extremely professional, friendly, and they really care about your critters. The location in Collingswood is easy to locate and has plenty of parking. Her salon is spacious, squeaky clean, and comfortable. It definitely reflects the fun and cool personality of the owner and staff. In terms of grooming services, Scissors & Suds is absolutely the best I've patronized in many years of dog ownership. I've lived in many places and tried all sorts of groomers including the "big box" chain stores (never again...). Helen's staff really know their stuff! My critters are all recycled pups (rescues), and they look like showdogs when they get groomed here! The service is very prompt, and the prices at Scissors and Suds is extremely reasonable. Helen and her staff are also very accomplished at handling dogs that may be difficult to groom. One of our rescues is "challenged", and can be a handful to groom. No problem at Scissors & Suds. These people were absolutely wonderful! I thought I had an appointment with them but somehow YELP gave me the number of another groomer that I have never heard of it and didn't look for. We showed up at Scissors and Suds and they took us anyway even though we didn't have an appointment. Our dog had to wait for a little bit, so he had an accident in the crate and rubbed his nose raw trying to bury it. They were so sweet they took him out of the crate and kept him close to them, and then took very good care of him during grooming which I'm sure helped him calm down. They were so kind and friendly to us, and the main groomer felt truly awful about it. They even called to check on him the next day! We tried to call them back but the line was busy. We would take him here again in a heartbeat! Oh and by the way our dog looked fantastic! read more

I absolutely loved my golden retrievers haircut and she smelled so good I couldn't stop snuggling her after her appointment. I really really want to give 5 stars but the price felt a little too high ($90 for a regular wash and cut - yikes) and when I picked my pup up, they had dogs sort of just roaming around. I guess they ran out of holding pens, but it still didn't sit well with me. All of the dogs seemed well tempered, but it only takes a second for an accident to happen. read more

My notoriously nervous, but lovable, Yorkie-poo, LuLu, went to Scissors and Suds today for the first time, on recommendation from a family member. My notoriously nervous, but lovable self is more than pleased with the experience. Dog groomers are a hard business to rate, simply because it is not a direct experience. But, none the less, LuLu came home with a fantastic cut (she was pretty mangy going in) and she was in a way less nervous manner than when I left her. The owner and staff were personable and have an obvious love for furry friends of all temperaments and breeds. I super-duper, highly recommend Scissors and Suds. read more
