If I could give no stars, I would. I will NEVER go back to Heart + Paw Cherry Hill. I recently took my dog here. I explained the situation/problem and they took my dog out of the room (out of my sight) to express his glands. I heard him yelp so loudly I almost went back there. Over $300 later, they shaved his rear end, told me his glands were empty, sent me home with scented wipes, and told me it was just a hygiene issue. They shaved his rear end so close to the skin that the area was extremely irritated and raw. I couldn't use the fragrance wipes if I even wanted to. I've had my dog for almost 3 years now and this hasn't been a problem until a few weeks ago. I took him to another vet about a week later, who within five minutes of examining him (IN FRONT OF ME) found a large mass in the exact area where the other vet had shaved. This vet not only checked his glands and found the mass, but also tried to drain the mass (which was unsuccessful), took samples to send to the lab to get tested for cancer, and provided two different medications. Did I mention it cost less than Heart + Paw? I asked for a refund and they only offered a credit. I demanded a refund and told them I would not be returning. The Dr. who called only seemed interested in covering themselves, explaining that they have seen several pets who come and within a few days, the problem drastically worsens and they weren't able to examine it at the time of the appointment. It felt very much like the Dr. was trying to say this mass grew within the week between seeing a vet at Heart + Paw and going to the other vet. Now, I'm not trained in veterinary medicine, but with the size of this mass, it seems nearly impossible. You're a vet office. Patient first; not covering your ass first. WARNING: Do not take your pets here. Save yourself the hassle, money, and disappointment. read more

I've been taking my dog to Heart + Paw in Cherry Hill for a full year now, and they are honestly the best. The staff is full of friendly individuals that do what they can to make your pet feel safe and comfortable and they have always been very accommodating. It's convenient they also have grooming there, so I can get my dog's nails trimmed at the same place. My dog is an anxious 9 pound chihuahua that hates the vet but they always handle him properly. If you want to see real reviews about this place, go to Google and you will see they have a 4.8/5 with over 1000 reviews. Yelp has about 13 reviews, most of which are people complaining about being late and not getting seen or refunded. read more

I can't speak for the grooming or boarding aspect of this business, but I can say I brought my dog here and she was treated with love and compassion by all the staff. They helped me reschedule when I had an issue that came up, and filled my time slot quickly so I wouldn't have to be charged a same day cancellation fee. Yes there's a cancellation fee, which sucks, but it is a business and that's how they make their money. It's $85 for an appointment. On the day of my appointment, my pup woke up sicker and I called them and explained that I was very nervous about how my pup was doing and they moved up my appointment to an earlier time to make sure they got her in ASAP. When I ran in they all were ready for my pup because they knew I was on my way and very afraid for her well being. They ultimately ended up telling me to go to the emergency room due to her condition, but didn't try to squeeze any extra money out of me like some places might by wasting my time running tests. They advised me where to find the best and closest animal hospital and got me out the door quickly so I could rush her there. They even asked me to provide an update later on her status because they were all so concerned. We went to a young female doctor with dark hair, (whose name escapes me) and she was super nice. I visited heart and paw with my 10 week old puppy, Penny, on 2/12 after she showed signs of significant GI distress (vomiting, loss of appetite and diarrhea). She had not had her vaccines yet. She went two visits back to back days without a Parvo test. At 2AM the following morning, she was diagnosed with Parvo virus at the emergency veterinary hospital within 3 minutes of arrival. She did not look much different from when she arrived at heart and paw. Instead from heart and paw, she had her cholesterol checked for some reason. She is now sitting in the intensive care unit at the hospital with a poor prognosis and almost no immune system. I was told by her treating vet, Dr. Schumacher that they do not carry Parvo tests, despite it being one of the most dangerous ailments in puppies. There was not even a mention of Parvo as a potential cause. When I asked about this, I was told "this is the gold standard of care" by a woman named Cara at the practice who is not a vet. This is gross negligence at the least and now I am going to be saddled with a tremendous hospital bill and more importantly, my puppy may not make it. If you care about getting the best quality care for your pet, you should look elsewhere. As a healthcare provider, I understand that patients can be quite demanding. But with the amount that people pay for this care, they can at least demand competence and accountability. Unfortunately, both of these are absent with Dr. Schumacher and Heart and Paw Cherry Hill. read more

It has been a few weeks since my last service with heart and paw. I really was not sure if I wanted to write this review in the first place but I feel if I can save another pup- I must write it. I took my pups for a grooming at H&P every 4 -5 months. The groomer changed the last few times and that's when things started going downhill. Not as skilled of a groomer but we didn't go for the cut- we went for their special considerations for dogs with anxiety and their company values/mission. But, last few visits I noticed how anxious my dogs got when we pulled up. Not like them. Usually happily walk into H&P. Our last visit we were met with a very rude woman who yelled at us to leave our dogs after they refused to come in. Blaming US for their issues - we are coming out of a pandemic and most dogs I assume have separation anxiety. So why be so harsh? Isn't the company supposed to be caring and accommodating? Around 6 hours later we got a call that we had to pick the dogs up- they couldn't even get a haircut- just a wash. The groomer stated our girl had such anxiety that she kept pooping and they refused to continue. We were told our little boy was aggressive- not like him AT ALL. (Which I am guessing if provoked- he might become aggressive). We were told she ran out of time- which you had the dogs 6 hours. We still paid full price for a service that wasn't rendered because we were strong armed into it. Called the manager several times- were not compensated. Our dogs didn't eat that night from stress they endured and were very needy. Today- they went to a different groomer. One who experience with dogs who have anxiety and aggression- since I was now nervous of this new behavior. There were no issues with behavior and confusion to why I was so worried. I was even told HOW NICE they are to groom. To top it off, our dogs did not come home stressed. So, I know they were not tortured. I am not sure what happened that day at H&P, But, I'm scared to think if we continued to go back- could things have ended badly??? Please do not go here. read more

I should have read the other reviews of the Cherry Hill location before even making an appointment here. I had an appointment for my dog, and was running a few minutes late as there was a car accident blocking the bridge from PA to NJ. We thought we were doing the right thing by giving them a courtesy call - 30 minutes ahead - that we were running a few minutes late and we were extremely sorry. They refused to see us, as we weren't going to be within the TEN MINUTES "grace period," for the appointment. Sure, I understand there are policies in place, and we would have been more than happy to comply but they also said the doctor was already running late... which means wouldn't she be late for our appointment anyway? We would have been happy to wait even longer, to be seen after patients who showed up on time, and we made that clear. So they canceled the appointment without any discussion. We had left our house at 1:30pm for a 2:30 appointment (a 25 minute drive)... obviously planning on being early. Since we were driving from the city, we decided to just turn around instead of sitting in traffic any longer. We get a call at 2:57pm, asking us to make a 3pm appointment to give us "a second chance," is what Sidney said. How did they expect us to make an appointment within 3 minutes? The staff was incredibly rude, constantly cutting me off when I was trying to voice my concerns and ask any questions. Avoid this location at all cost. read more

I brought My dog up there for one scheduled interview to see how she would do. They let one dog in she was already nervous. Did not give her time to get used to other dogs then they dumped another dog in there. The other dog started aggressively towards my dog, my dog stood its ground. The person in the ring, grabbed my dog by the head, and proceeded to drag it out Into the waiting area where I was at My Dog was definitely scared because she did not understand what was going on. There would have been a better way to handle this if not sitting there and just throwing things at her like she is supposed to understand. Hey, this is a place I can play, she was intimidated. She stood her ground as she is supposed to, but they failed to keep her on the leash in case things got out of hand. read more

Nothing but great experiences here! My dog hates going to the vet and will always hate it, but the staff here does an incredible job of making my dog feel as comfortable as possible. I can't praise Chelsea from Heart and Paw enough.She has been one of my dog Wicket's groomers for years. She is professional, caring and amazing.She will always choose the safety of your pet and be honest with you . I love that Chelsea always puts Wicket's care and safety first. As I have heard from many others that have brought their dogs here, they don't finish the job. They returned our dog to us with zero haircut and charged the full amount because they ran out of time. How can you run out of time if you schedule the appointments?? Went to give them a second chance and they refused to see my dog because of our disagreement in the past. This place will be closed soon because of the terrible customer service and literally stealing from customers. FYI stay away from Chelsea the groomer, acted like a dog pooping while grooming was the end of the world. It's just part of the job. If you don't like it, you can drive for Uber. Or learn how to work with animals. At least the facility looks clean? Only pro I can give to this location. read more

We started taking our pets here last year. We weren't allowed in the exam room bc of COVID. Not ideal but we understood. Now that things are starting to get back to normal, we STILL can't go back. The vet has treated our pets a half dozen times and we've never met them. We relay information through someone and get information relayed back to us. Our cat never likes to go to the vet but without us in the room, she absolutely freaks. And to get her examined she now has to get sedated, at our cost. She's never had to be sedated before. The only difference is that we aren't allowed in the room with her. I'm sure they do a good job but this is not a sustainable way to treat patients. read more

*Full story: This was my third visit to this place with a 16 weeks-old puppy (cavachon), 2022-Jan-24. I made an appointment for a distemper booster. We came to the facility, and the lady in the lobby took my puppy to the technicians. I was told that I cannot be with my puppy while she gets the shot. So, I stayed in the lobby without knowing what was going on inside. After about 10 min later, my puppy came back with one of the technicians and she told me that Emma got TWO shots, rabies and distemper-lepto combo (a discharge instruction written by Katie, CVT, FFCP) Obviously, I did not ask for those two shots. Nobody told me that she would get those shots. I still do not understand this because Dr. Koch recommended not to get rabies until my puppy finishes other vaccines. I never wanted lepto for my puppy either. I talked to Dr. Koch today (Jan-25) about this and he apologized and offered a refund. He told me he would get back to me later after talking with his staff. I am writing my story here so that this does not happen to others. *Photos were taken right after we came back home. On the way back home I noticed some blood on her arm. I came back to the lobby and asked the person in the lobby if this is ok. The person told me that it is common (or, normal; forgot the exact word) and I can just go home. I will let you decide. Have been bringing my puppy here for a year now, and had no previous issues, and it's a shame I have to write this but I feel I need to warn other potential owners of the lack of respect and professionalism that I experienced. They established a new no show policy that they claim was communicated in a marketing email. I had a scheduled surgery for my dog and the day before I texted them to reschedule because something came up for work. They messaged me back and asked if I could come in October and I said no prob. A few days later I noticed a charge for $200 on my credit card... so I called them. They said they just established this policy and there was nothing they could do about it. I let them know that was a shame considering I did not see any policy change and if I would have known I would have been charged $200, I would have done something to make it work. Over the course of my dogs life I'm sure I would have spent thousands at heart and paw, and now that I have been notified of the policy verbally I would not have let it happen again. However, they sent my dogs medical records obviously not caring that I would remove him from their services and find someone else, and the records had comments attached that said I was rude and wouldn't let the person speak (not true, I was extremely polite). It's sad that I now I have to find another vet and groomer and day care program for my pup but that is what it has come down to. Please be aware of this policy and I hope you're treated with more respect than I was! read more

Don't think the grooming is worth the money. My dog cost $138 and when i came to pick her up the only thing that looked like they had done to her with clip her nails and trim the hair around her paws and tail. Didn't cut around her ears. ( which i asked them too) The nice scent on her only last a day and was gone by the next day. Defiantly not going back to this place for my dog to be groomed. Was not satisfied at all. read more

I took my 1 year old Great Dane for an appointment on Saturday. Full disclosure. This was not the normal vet we see, both regular vets were off. The vet came into the room and my dog barked at her twice (Great Danes are notorious for being very talkative). The vet got spooked, slinked out of the room without saying anything. The vet tech returns to say they will only work on my Dane if they sedate with drugs. I refused and left. I spent over 3,000 dollars at this vet with their plan for my 2 dogs over the last year. I was absolutely appalled at the unprofessional behavior of the vet. Don't be in a line of business to deal with large dogs if you're afraid of being barked at! Will never return again!! read more

Never had a better experience with a groomer than here at Heart+Paw with Chelsea! My boys are very anxious - both are rescues with major anxiety issues but Chelsea makes sure that they are well taken care of and not stressed out! She always does a fantastic job and treats them with care! I was always nervous leaving them with someone but now I know that with H+P they are in great care! Staff is kind and caring, and always friendly. It seems like the other reviews are customers that do not understand what it takes to groom anxious dogs, and how sometimes stopping can be the best thing to not stress them out. Especially when your pets also come here to see the vet like mine do, sometimes coming in can be scary and Chelsea made sure they had the best experience! Do NOT listen to the other reviews, she is wonderful with the pets she works with and always does the BEST job!! Would not recommend anyone else but her!!! read more
