Employee helping with the VetCo check in was rude and unhelpful. Vet was seemingly overwhelmed and the vaccination area was a mess.

We were so thankful to find that TDS offered a puppy room, so that my fur baby was able to get socialization and care before she was ready to join the rest of the pack. Initially, we were working with potty training and socialization. The staff at TDS went above and beyond with helping carry-over potty training. Due to our circumstances, Moro was initially trained to potty indoors and had developed an aversion of going potty outside - she would even hold for 5-6 hours when we were outdoors at the age of 2 months! She also had a lot of excitement/nervous peeing issues initially. Eric was very supportive and encouraging, including making sure that she was brought out on potty breaks with another dog that would likely go potty so that she saw that it was ok to do. He has also been very accommodating to my routine for my puppy to minimize her excitement/nervous peeing at drop-off. Nicole has been great with keeping me updated on her progress when I go pick her up. She was just as proud of Moro as I was, when she would actually pee or poop during her walks and when she had fewer accidents throughout the day. Due to our schedule recently, we have been picking Moro up fairly late and we are grateful for Andrew continuing to watch and play with her. We bumped into him recently in the street on our walk and she was so happy to see him. We have only had positive experiences with TDS and their staff. It is so great to see how the staff enjoys and knows all the dogs so well, which makes it comforting to know that she is having a great time and that the staff cares for Moro as much as we do!

On Call Pet Services is run by Kelly Lapre, who works with a team of other people. We've only…read moreinteracted with Kelly, and have found her to be very responsive (as in, nearly always responds within in 15 minutes of an email) and 100% available (she has never once said no to a gig). For cat sitting (2 cats, uncomplicated needs), her rate has been $16, which I find very reasonable. That said, we have been working with Kelly for about a year and a half, and recently decided to switch to another cat sitter. This was not because of anything overwhelmingly egregious on Kelly's part, but rather that we've had better services from other sitters in the past and would like to return to that. For instance, other sitters have always texted us pictures and updates about our cats. With Kelly, I found that she'll give me a brief update if I email to check in, but that's it. I would've preferred if she texted pics daily with every visit as a standard. (Note: When I emailed Kelly to share some concerns/feedback and ask for our keys to be returned, she stated that she is happy to do this for her clients upon request.) Another example is that over a longer gig (4 days) this summer, we returned home to an empty water bowl and two very thirsty cats. When I asked about it over email, Kelly wrote, "I gave them water every time I saw them just like I always do. I have been watching cats daily in the heat for ten years and two cats will empty a bowl of water in one day when it's hot. The water bowl is not big and now that I think of it it was empty each time I came so maybe when your [sic] home you fill it more often or there is another issue." I concur with Kelly that it's possible that a combination of heat, cats, time, etc may have led to the water bowl winding up empty by the time we got home (a day after her last visit), but what concerns me is that she noticed the bowl being continuously empty, and did not reach out to us. I would've been 100% okay with her putting down another water bowl (even without asking us). Also, increased drinking in cats can be a sign of something pretty serious, and I would like to have a pet sitter that has the awareness and expertise to alert me to something like this. Again, not canceling our service because of major issues, but rather some minor ones that overall just put us off. ETA: Kelly said that she mailed my key back to me. It was never received.

Kelly's rates are very reasonable, and Kelly's very dependable. Kelly's also accommodating. Once when Theo was with Kelly, I ended up in the emergency room, and was unable to care for Theo for a couple of days. Kelly kept Theo until I could resume caring for him. Kelly loves animals, and animals love her. Kelly also took care of my first dog about 10 years ago, and he also loved Kelly. Kelly sends pictures to me frequently, to show how much fun Theo's having. When Kelly comes to pick him up in the morning to take him out for the day, Theo shoots down the stairs, to get into her car, because he knows he's going to have a blast. For cat owners, I have recommended Kelly to one of the most difficult people I know who needed someone to care for her cat who has cardiac issues. Kelly was responsible for feeding him, making sure his water bowl was filled, and checking on his well-being. When my neighbor came back she went out of her way to tell me how grateful she was that I recommended Kelly to her. I believe Kelly provides one of the most important qualities that all animal lovers want, peace of mind knowing your pet is going to feel loved and cared for while you're gone.

There is no better way to describe Lance and his two other trainers as miracle workers. I have a…read more1.5-year-old cattle dog/husky mix who is extremely fear reactive. It was impossible to walk by other dogs without a huge scene or even people without him growling. Baths and nail cutting were out of the question as the local groomer told me to never bring him back, and when I attempted, he would become aggressive towards me. I have always believed in Kevin and thus have been to A LOT of trainers in search of helping him reach his full potential of being a great dog. Away from his fears, Kevin is the sweetest dog. The number of people who told me he was "incurable" and that I would have to simply manage with what I have the rest of my life left me deflated and hopeless. Then I stopped to chat with a woman who was walking her German Shepherd one day and she told me I had to go see Lance. A week later I was sold. Lance has been a blessing. He has achieved more with Kevin in a matter of months than others said Kevin could accomplish in his entire life. While Kevin still has some work to be done, he now can walk by dogs without a scene, LOVES pets from people and even just this week had his first bath and nail cutting without any issues. Kevin's sister is another shining example of Lance's work. She was returned to the rescue by a family who said she was heavily resource-guarding and acting aggressively. My mom adopted her but was worried she was too much to handle. Since working with Lance, Luna is a new dog and easily the best dog my mom has ever owned. It is not just Lance's abilities to train dogs that are so incredible, he is also there for the owners. He understands and allows us to speak our minds and even vent with frustration about the different obstacles we have faced during the training process. He is ALWAYS available to the owners and truly loves what he does and the dogs he works with. I really cannot say enough great things about Lance and his team. If you are struggling with your dog, Lance is the answer. I rarely write reviews but this one was necessary because I empathize with the difficulty of finding great trainers--Lance is beyond great.

UPDATE following groomer response…read more I kept my initial review brief, but following your response I need to reply and add more. You said your groomer gave our dog a standard puppy cut for a Maltese. There is no standard puppy cut for a maltese. Even if there was a standard puppy cut, your groomer and I had a 15 minute conversation where we discussed the style of cut I wanted, which included a round face with some length to it. I even showed the photo (which she asked me to text to her for reference during the grooming) to help her. Not once during the conversation did she mention she would just do a standard Maltese cut. You seem to be suggesting that your groomer ignored the wishes/instructions of her client. When I collected Alfie, the groomer apologized for cutting him shorter than I asked. She said she had made a mistake on his face on the first attempt, stating that it looked like her husband, so needed to go short to correct it. Again, no mention of ignoring our wishes and doing a standard Maltese puppy cut. Furthermore, the hair on the left side of his rib cage is shorter than the right side (Surely not part of a standard puppy cut?) The groomer also did not pluck the hair in his ears, which is a basic service. Finally, your Go Sox comment is completely inappropriate. It makes the business look unprofessional and like you don't take your client's comments seriously.

I first started at VCA Whitman (where despite the high prices we had such a lovely vet (Dr. Cosman)…read moreit was worth it) and transferred to the Brookline VCA when I moved to Boston. I have had my dog for 6 years and have watched the VCA prices rise far above the rate of inflation. In case anyone else is curious, YES they were acquired and taken private by no other than the Mars CANDY company in 2017. It has been about exploitation and profit margins since. Look into Mars' role in vet medicine and dog food. My dog was seen in Brookline for an illness in March 2025 and then again in September 2025 and in that 6 month time frame the sick exam fee alone increased from $134 to $139. That is just to walk through the door. And I am sure if I look at vaccine and medication prices the case is the same. They have steadily increased prices every few months since I started going in 2020. It is not about keeping up with inflation at this point. An annual physical fee now costs $112. Just last year it was $102. a $10 increase! Mind you, when I started bringing my dog in 2020 the routine physical exam fee was $76. a $36 increase in 5 years, that is 47% and FAR beyond inflation rates. Private Equity investors know vet clinics are of value due to their recurring revenue (aka loving pet owners trying to care for their animals) and they are ruining vet medicine. The insurance companies are no better. The staff are nice enough, and when I have felt uneasy about something the vets have reassured me with care and tact. This is not about the people who work here, but the state of veterinary medicine in general and how people are being priced out of owning pets so a shareholder can buy another yacht.
