This location is probably my favorite. I call around to different locations to make sure there are live mice available. Every time I call someone always answers, and so far this location always has the mice I need. Today they were busier than usual, 3 people in line and only one store clerk that I saw. Tom was extremely helpful. He quickly grabbed the mice I needed and assisted everyone else in line. I didn't even see him grab the mice so I was pleasantly surprised that he already had them waiting for me when I reached the counter. Nice guy, and efficient. I will definitely be back. I've always gone here with my kids, so we can get the things they need for their animals. Overall, we love this store. The 2 stars I deducted from this is based on an isolated situation. It's a big one, but for us, not big enough to say we wouldn't recommend the store altogether. We went in for my daughter's birthday gift. She's been asking for a guinea pig, and we thought her 7th birthday would be over the top if we finally allowed it. We walked by all the guinea pigs and saw two in the same enclosure together. A worker walked over and asked if we needed help, so I explained the situation. We are going to be first time guinea pig owners, that's what I thought was important for the worker to know. So, as we are standing in front the two guinea pigs.. she tells us that they're "bonded" guinea pigs and cannot be adopted separately. My daughter fell in love with only one of them, but I absolutely loved the other. So, she explained that they're brother guinea pigs and for no reason, can they be separated. I went for it! A couple months later, as I'm cleaning their cage, I notice two itty bitty babies in the cage. I leapt up and immediately call my husband over. Together, we lift their hut, and sure enough I've got two babies in there!! The next day, after work, I go to Petco and address this situation to the workers. There were two younger workers there, whom I do see often, but they weren't the ones who sold me the Guinea pigs so I didn't think it right to yell at them. I told them, a worker told me they were two bonded brothers. I've found out the hard way, they're definitely a boy and a girl. The male worker pulls his phone out and GOOGLES things about baby guinea pigs and their care. Does not involve or inquire with a manager at all. I listen to his advice and thank him for the info. I leave the store without any addressing of WTF to do with a mom and dad and two babies. Or what PETCO would do, considering this isn't what they advertised when I bought the "bonded brothers" who weren't that at all. No offer to take in the babies, no offer to fix the mother, no offer to HUGELY discount a cage to separate males and females. Nothing. They gave me some Google info and expected I'd just waltz out the store happy to have 4 guinea pigs instead of 2. Luckily for this store, my two babies fell in love with the little Guinea pigs. We kept them, and have had to make huge purchases on Amazon to accumulate all the requirements to house these guinea pigs. No one from Petco ever reached back out to me, which means those workers never told a manager anything about this mishap. I am disappointed til today that this happened and nobody from Petco ever reached out to donate, discount, or at least apologize! Like I said, at the time, we were first time Guinea Pig owners. The male and female had two sets of twins. The first set, we did the best we could and had to wait awhile to have the money to buy another huge cage. Which in the meantime, the mother got pregnant again. Sooooo, we bought 2 "bonded brothers" and now have 6 total guinea pigs. Stressful, at first, and I didn't know anything about telling a male and female apart. So, to keep it from being an even longer review, I'll just say.. I had to learn everything myself. I've successfully separated male from female and have bought enormous cages for my pigs. They're all heathy, happy, and well taken care of. I just wish it didn't end up like this to begin with. I wish we got what we paid for and not any hidden secrets. Thankfully, we are now basically pros at guinea pigs and the stress of baby making has passed. No more baby making here (no thanks to Petco). It's a huge mess up on their behalf, BUT other than selling me a husband and wife baby making pair of guinea pigs, the store has always been great! We buy almost all of our pet supplies here. & even though I'm still disappointed and annoyed with Petco, they are otherwise pretty good to us! Sorry for the long review. read more

Attentive and caring, that is the first thing that comes to mind. I've lived next door to them for a year and a half at this point, and this has been the best pet store I've been to. With my pets, I've always been able to come here and get the things that I need without fail; but let us speak a moment for their customer service... Miss Callie is the lady that I have always come to regarding my pets, I have two cats-though I'm a dog person. Long story! But every time I have a question, she has always been incredibly knowledgeable based off her own experiences with her pets and has been able to recommend to me good products that she uses herself. I've been comfortable telling her what goes on with my cats and wondering what is normal versus what isn't. Now, something to note: About a month back, I lost my favorite coffee mug, which I had since 2011, and it had sentimental value. I was certain that it was Petco that I lost it, but I didn't know for sure. Usually, if you lose something at a store, you're pretty much guaranteed never to see it again. I resigned myself to the loss of something so sentimental and loved; but one day while buying food for the cats, they brought out my coffee mug! I was so surprised to see it, but they recognized it as the one I had always brought in with me as well as how I described to them. I almost guarantee you, anywhere else, this would not have occurred. Something else to notice about Petco; not just this store but Petco as a whole. When I worked at Pet Supermarket, it was my first taste of a pet store, and we were told to push certain products down customer's throats, not in those exact words, but we wanted sales on specific things. When I went to Petco, three different employees recommended three different things. I was shocked! I was told by the manager, Callie again, that what matters is what the customer feels works best for their pets, and what the employee might recommend is what they use. When I tried Solid Gold, my cat didn't react well to it, and Callie was able to look at the ingredients there, as well as what I had been feeding him before (A food brand from pet supermarket) and deduced that the high oils didn't sit well with the stomach of a kitten (as he was a kitten at the time) and she was able to recommend something else. I have to admit and acknowledge that the manager, Miss Callie, has been there from my first cat's kittenhood over a year ago to today, where I now have two adult cats. I don't know any other store employee that would care as much. I give this Petco location the rating of, in my eyes, best of the best. read more

This Petco has been there for me so many times over the past 20 years. It is very small in comparison to the mega Petcos but still has everything you need for your pet. The first time I shopped here was about 18 years ago - I was cat sitting for my then boyfriend's cat and decided to spoil her with a fancy cat thing for her to scratch on and lots of toys. Last summer I was on my way to visit my parents who live right down the street and noticed my dog had some fleas on her pink belly. So, I pulled in and explained that I do not put poison on my dog but needed a quick fix for her fleas. The woman I spoke with said she also only used holistic non-poison flea control and gave me a recipe for a repellent (boil lemon slices with some rosemary and spray her down - also smells great:) and suggested a flea comb which I had with me. This past Saturday I stopped in for some treats for my new Foster Pit Bull who I would be picking up on the way home. I am a Pit Bull Lovin Nut but when I looked at my new Foster Pups pic I was like "Holly Crap he is one tough lookin Dude" and wanted to make sure I made a good impression with some yummy treats. I honestly did not expect this small Petco to have a good selection of Holistic Treats - no dog that resides in my house gets anything that has sugar, molasses or salt as an ingredient. So, I was super happy to find PureBites with only one ingredient - freeze dried Beef Liver! My new Pittie Foster Pup growled at me once cause he is a big ol scaredy cat but as soon as I offered him some yummy Beef Liver we were best friends! Thanks to this Petco! The employees, Derek and another woman I forgot to catch the name of, at the Bedford Petco were amazing!! They were very friendly and helped me find items I was searching for. Considering my experience with the employees and the great selection of items, I will definitely be shopping here instead of Petsmart from now on The customer service offered here along with the variety of items cannot be compared to anywhere else I have shopped for my pets. Like Tara M. stated, this isn't one of those huge PETCOs (like the one on Pipeline) that tries to compete with PetSmart. This is a small, neighborhood store for getting supplies and small pets (fish, rodents and some birds). You won't find any cats for adoption during the week (only weekend adoptions as far as I know), and there isn't a pet groomer at this location. Overall, it's a nice store.... but it kind of reminds me of the rundown pet stores of my past. You know, the ones where there are moths flying around (which I saw) and a layer of dust on the merchandise. But thankfully this PETCO didn't have a strong pet smell. I don't know if I'd drive out to see this store (except maybe on pet adoption days), but I'm sure this works in a pinch for people in the area. read more

Not a huge Petco but is a bigger store front than Petco unleashed where we normally go with longer hours! Also with more, slightly more options for pelt food & some more economically priced pet food options than unleashed. So when we need more litter for the cat & we couldn't make it to Petco unleashed to refill our Petco brand tub here is where we go. While we get very outstanding service at Petco unleashed that makes the staff here look slightly slacker in comparison, This locations staff has always been much more helpful than the now closed pipeline location. Though do to age of location the inside still feels a little shady like pipeline did compared to the newer Petco unleaded locations. Overall not bad if you generally know what your looking for; also they support my friends daughters Girl Scout troop by letting them have booths there so go them! read more

It's a very small Petco. When I visited, there weren't any animals stocked except for one cat in the adoption section. Employees were very nice. Star-rating is really due to how tiny the store is. I would recommend traveling further to a bigger Petco if you're looking for variety. However, if you know exactly what you want, and you want to pick it up quickly (it's literally right next to a Kroger - so you can get it done while you're shopping there too), then this is a good enough Petco. read more

We where discussing non expensive fish that would fit well with my musk turtle. Also last time I was there they didn't have night crawlers, earth worms, and she said even though they where having issues getting them she would try to find some for us. I've had a terrible experience at the Colleyville Petco just now, which is bothersome because I shop and groom my dogs at this store all the time and had been a fan of this location since they opened a year ago. Prior to leaving town for Thanksgiving eight days ago, I realized that my dogs had fleas so I ran over to Petco to pick up some Frontline flea treatment. When we arrived back home yesterday, I brought one of my dogs to the Petco for grooming and was told that the poor dog was still covered with fleas and flea eggs. The grooming technician told me to bring back the Frontline, as it was either defective or had gone bad. I told her I no longer had the receipt, and she told me the store would just exchange the package for another flea treatment. When I returned with the Frontline, Petco employee Russell told me that under no circumstances would he make an exchange without the receipt. He said there was no way to prove that I had purchased the product from Petco. I asked if they could look up my transaction with my Petco Pals number, and he said it was impossible. I asked what their policy was about defective product, and he insisted that without the receipt, there was nothing he could do for me. All of this, he kept repeating, was per company policy. I bought a different package of flea treatment and left the store. The interaction with Russell bothered me so much that I sat in the parking lot and called Petco customer service. I explained my situation to the customer service rep, Camile, and she immediately looked up my transaction using my Petco Pals number. She said that of course it was Petco's policy to take back defective product, and stayed on the phone with me to make sure that the Colleyville store would help me. When I re-entered the store with phone in hand, Russell walked into the back office and said his manager would come out to speak with Camile. Within a minute, Russell had returned and said he would exchange the defective product and give me a merchandise credit. I handed Russell the defective flea treatment, as well as the receipt and package from the treatment I had purchased moments before. He took both, and completed the transaction while I was thanking Camille and ending that call. You would think I would have checked the receipt while I was still standing there, but I trusted that Russell would have done what he said he would. Instead, I have a $67 merchandise credit, have paid $35 for replacement product, in addition to the extra $13 I paid at the Petco groomer for the flea treatment there. So, I am out of pocket $115 for a flea treatment that would have cost me $25 at the vet's office or $15 at Costco. Bad customer service, Russell. You reflect poorly on your store. read more

My wife went to purchase food and was told that this location no longer gives Teacher discounts because of a new manager. Not good. Very disappointed in the new manager. If I could give zero stars I would. The manager named Michelle that runs this store is an embarrassment to the company. She can often be seen yelling and talking down to other employees right in front of other customers. This has happened on more than one occasion and makes a pleasant shopping experience instead uncomfortable. Acting like a hot headed fool in front of customers is not the way to represent your store, and she should be ashamed of herself. read more
