One of our curious ferrets got stuck behind the mini fridge we keep their raw diet in and wasn't feeling too well afterwards, on the back of our petco guarantee, it states if our ferret needs veterinary care within 30 days of purchase (we got her 18 days ago as a birthday gift as well as a cage mate) so we called this store and they said they won't help her because the injury didn't happen before we brought her. I stated the guarantee doesn't specify that all it says and all I was told on the date of purchase was if she needed help within 30 days of purchase they would help AND reimburse ANY approved vet expenses. So after going back and forth with a employee named Amber, she left me a voicemail telling me to come in and they will help us out. A tall white woman with purple hair and glasses with her purse on her shoulder, car keys in one hand and a cat carrier in the other. I walk up to amber and she says "sIgn these papers to give us permission to take her to the vet". She pointed right to the signature and showed me where to sign not 2 seconds after setting the paper down so in the rush I signed and the lady with the glasses was off with our baby. The next morning they said she was doing well and they are slowly decreasing treatment to see how she does but they would like to keep her overnight again. At this point our other 2 ferrets are showing signs of depression and looking for the missing ferret. They started eating less and trying to escape their cages at night. So we called petco and asked what vet baby was and when they informed me vida veterinary hospital I called up asking if we were able to bring by the family and they said no as we were not on the list of owners. So I asked how she was and they said they couldn't disclose that information since I'm not the owner. At this point I am worried so I called petco back and I informed them that they would not tell me the status of her because I am not a owner to which they replied they will call them and give me a call back. I never received a call back so the next morning I called ready to pick her up only to be told by the manager Roberto (whom of which had never spoken to me until this phone call) that Petco now owns the ferret. He also said " if you want to talk you can come down later when I'm free". Obviously not understanding this is like my child we are talking about, I throw on a hoodie and drive down with all of our documents down to the very last hospital bill. As soon as we walk in the manager crosses his arms and refuses to speak with us and says if we do not get off of the property he will call the cops for trespassing and harassment. I start video recording because he 1 just kidnapped or furry with absolutely 0 explanation. And # 2 informed his staff to call the police on me and my girlfriend for standing and videotaping. Now 2 customers start cursing at me and my girlfriend and the male even tries to hit me to the point where two of the employees had to back him up from me as I was just standing and recording ( this is all on video) And after this altercation the receptionist says that we started the entire altercation and we were now harassing customers. After the police come we happily leave the building and explain our side of the story to which the police seem to have sympathy. They go into the store and they talk with the owner for about 20 minutes afterwards they come out ask for our IDs and give us a trespassing charge. So not only was our fuzzy kidnapped, we had no answers as to how she was or why she was taken, as well as a trespassing charge. So I come home and I call every person I could think of. Obviously no one gave me any results. And this entire ordeal happened around 12:30 PM. Not 2 hrs later I get a phone call from Mr. Roberto who has an oddly cherry tone for the man that just threw us out with no explanation, kidnapped our child, and charged us with trespassing. He explains that they cannot give me my baby back but they are willing to give me a refund of $199. And to add insult to injury he calls back one more time to really hammer the nail in the coffin and explain that we will never get her back but he hopes the money makes up for the situation. After hearing that voicemail I didnt reply right away bc I was angry so the next morning I called the store and off bat they asked for my name. After telling them they immediately hung up on me. This happened 4x times until we called for my girlfriends phone and the exact same thing happened to her (we have SS of the call logs) until they ended up blocking us. why did these evil people go out of their way to kidnap with no explanation, call the police on us, charge us for trespassing, call us offering money in exchange for our baby, calling back again to twist the knife but hopes the money will rectify the situation, just to have us hung up on time after time. DONT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! These people are monsters and DONT CARE about your pets!!! My baby ferret got hurt and was wheezing and not moving. This happened Feb 1 while I was at work. My boyfriend was driving around, calling trying to find help for my injured baby ferret and we called Petco over and over again to try to get information. She is 3 months old and was bleeding out the mouth! Other places quoted over $500 just to see her! Over $200 on top of that just for some x rays! We were trying to get the help we could! Some lady named AMBER said to come back to Petco and they could get her help and take her to the vet. My boyfriend rushed our baby ferret to them and Amber said to sign these papers so she could just go to the vet. He quickly signed them to get her help and someone just grabs her, rushes her in a car and leaves. My boyfriend is asking Amber all the questions like where is she going when are we going to get her back. She says she will call us and update us at all times and she will call when we can come get her. She needed to stay overnight. She even tells us a story on how they fixed a mouse's broken leg for thousands of dollars and resold it for $1 (thinking she cared!)! The next day my boyfriend called asking for updates and they said they will slowly decrease the oxygen and barely gave us more information. After asking so many times we finally found out the hospital she was at VITA VETERINARY HOSPITAL and we called right away but they said there was no ferret under our name. We called Petco and they said they would call in the morning to straighten that out and she needed to stay another night. We are getting no information at all about our baby ferret and our other ferrets at home are showing signs of depression and won't eat and play!! They are always looking for her because they are all bonded!! We call the next morning again because we had ENOUGH!!! We wanted our baby back!! Petco says we don't own her anymore and we relinquished her!! This is so ridiculous to me because they have been giving us these BS updates and then they tell us this!! The store manager ROBERTO says you can come in at 1:30 if you want to talk about it, no we are coming in now!! This is at around 12 pm. We drive up there and we ask to talk to the manager, he takes forever so we are looking for him and he then refuses to give us any information about our baby! We go in there asking him where is she what's going on. He tells his coworker to start recording so we started recording too!! He says no recording in my store! He calls 911 and tells his staff to call 911 and is looking out the window refusing to talk to us! He lied and said we started a fight when we have whole video proof of everything! He kicks us out the store! 3 COP CARS PULL UP! 3!! We are telling them the whole story and we are waiting for the longest time to hopefully get this resolved! They say they can't help us because it's a civil issue between us and gives us TRESPASS NOTICES! We had to leave and we both at work that day but we still called the Petco company! We talked to the district manager and then Roberto calls around 3 something and is talking all happy and jolly on the phone. He leaves a voicemail and says "Hey!! Did we give you a refund we should've given you one! Call me back blah blah blah". We are both at work so he calls again around 6 saying "Hey I guess we're playing phone tag!! I get in Wednesday morning I talked to everyone and everyone agrees to the refund and I hope it will make everything better and you still can't get her back". Why would he say something like that like we were EVER thinking about a refund??? She is part of our family and I got her as a birthday gift! Our other ferrets Blanco & Rocky are bonded and like I said are depressed she is gone!! We call Petco Tuesday morning which was the 4th to get the refund and they ask who is speaking and when we tell them, they hang up!! It happened 4 times and we have the video logs to prove it! This is when we called and talked to the district manager again and the administration!!! We just want our baby back and the situation is dragging. We feed them a raw diet and they are all litter trained. The Petco "EXPERTS" suck because they know nothing about their job. We bought our first ferret here and they said they could be fed veggies which can kill them. They filled us with the complete opposite information so we had to do our own research and create a new lifestyle for them. They are our family and it feels incomplete without her. read more

Bought fish here last week. Now my tank has a fantastic case of ICK. I should have known better. I have a 75 with goldfish that are 8 and 9 years old. My 45 of fancies just went bottom up. I contacted the manger on duty today at 1/28/2016, 3:02 pm and her response? Oh dear that is just terrible and then hung up. I just wanted to give them a heads up but apparently according to her they already knew. Thanks PETCO you SUCK! I am taking my personal and shelter business elsewhere. This place needs to learn how to take care of the animals that are living in their stores. They were dirty with piss and shit. It wasn't even busy. You don't have time to fucken clean it's cage ?????
