Gretchen and her team were amazing! I actually contacted a handful of florists before I found Petals, Ink and Gretchen was the easiest person to work with hands down. We did everything over email, which was super nice and convenient for me. She provided me pictures and I gave her some of my ideas as well. She ended up putting together everything beautifully! I had my bouquet, 8 bridesmaids bouquets, 12 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, 15 center pieces and greenery for the ceremony. My succulent themed pieces she put together were a huge hit with everyone. She also did my guest favors which were little succulents in tea cups, which were adorable! Gretchen was worth every penny I spent on my flowers. They were exactly what I had envisioned. I can't believe I never reviewed Gretchen's work for our wedding back in 2012. She was really wonderful. Several other florists we looked into had minimums for our order that were, you know, half our wedding budget. I said to Gretchen, "I love flowers, but we're having a not-fancy wedding and here's what we can spend." And Gretchen said, "great!" without blinking an eye or making comments as others had about how little we could do with that and how did I feel about using chrysanthemums? Equally awesome was that I described the concept I was thinking of (not in a ton of detail-- just said succulents and yellow things) and said, "I trust you from here" and she made a gorgeous bouquet, unique, beautiful centerpieces, and lovely little buttonieres and corsages. To top it all off, she's just fun to hang around with, was easy to work with, was on time to drop them off at our wedding, sent me a picture of my bouquet the following Christmas, and posts lovely pictures on Facebook to boot. I attended the Painting & Poppies class at the farm and cannot say enough good things about it! The farm is amazing - Gretchen and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the farm, the flowers and the process of growing such lovely blooms. Starla was an amazing painting instructor and provided great inspiration. In addition to the serene setting, painting such lovely flowers only added to the relaxing atmosphere. Stop reading this review and call Petals, Ink. Now. No, seriously, you want Gretchen to be the woman in charge of the flowers for your wedding. She was absolutely amazing to work with - even when literally a week before my wedding my mom decided she wanted to add some rather major elements to our floral design. I first interviewed Gretchen over a year before our wedding. I thought I would get everything done early and then just enjoy the ride. I was so wrong! Picking a florist was really hard for me. I am a very visual person and something of a control freak, so the concept of just explaining my vision to someone, paying for it, and then just hoping they got it right was kinda terrifying! I interviewed four different florists about a year before the wedding, and from the first time I met Gretchen, I really felt like she "got" my vision and knew exactly what I wanted. I just "had a feeling" she was the right person for the job, but I was still afraid to commit. I ended up spending *months* stressing about the flowers, and finally decided to go with my gut and contact Gretchen again. I got super lucky, too, because she had a wedding the day before ours, the day after, and the day after that, but she was free on our date! So don't make the same (near) mistake I did - book her fast! I am so, so, SO glad that I did! The flowers at our wedding were AMAZING. We had guests tell us they were the prettiest flowers they had ever seen. We had planned an outdoor ceremony and got a torrential downpour instead, so there are a lot of "what ifs" I have about the wedding, but the flowers were perfect. Absolutely perfect. My bridesmaids all gasped when Gretchen arrived with the bouquets! When I left for my honeymoon, I was so sad to leave my flowers behind! They were better than every single inspiration picture I showed her. To say she totally got my vision would be an understatement! I seriously can't say enough good things about my experience. I hired Gretchen and her team to provide floral design for my wedding in May and I had to come to Yelp to gush again over the flowers. They were beyond perfect. I don't know how she managed to take my all-over-the-place direction and thoughts and pull together EXACTLY what I had in my head. Gretchen and Ben are just lovely. I'll start by saying we had no idea what we wanted for our wedding flowers other than the color palette. From the first email with Gretchen, I knew she "got" what we wanted. . She is incredibly quick and responsive with her communications, didn't hestitate about our limited budget, and was thoughtful and creative with her designs. Gretchen was flexible and helpful throughout the planning process. She incorporated fabric we were using into the boutineers and bouquets, and everything looked exactly as I had hoped, even without knowing what I was hoping for! Our wedding was a bit outside of Austin, and we wanted to pick up the flowers ourselves instead of having them delivered. Gretchen and Ben had everything ready to go in perfectly packed boxes, and helped us pack the car so nothing would fall over. Gretchen had me from our very first email communication. I was planning a January 2012 wedding at Mercury Hall four months out from Oakland, CA, and did not have time to come to Austin to meet with her. I emailed her pictures of things I liked, told her my colors, and she quickly sent back an email full of images, ideas, and prices. We chatted via Skype and she was so personable and professional that I decided to look no further. I had a flower budget on the somewhat low end, and I originally didn't think we'd be able to afford venue flowers (we were considering having Gretchen do the ceremony flowers and DIY-ing the rest). However, her prices were so reasonable and her services so fantastic that we decided to just have her do everything. Come the day of, the flowers were PERFECT. Seriously. The most beautiful wedding flowers and arrangements we could have imagined. From the huge bouquets to the amazing flowers on the arbor and the sweet little flower girl baskets and dog flower collars. They were the most thoughtfully put-together arrangements - so much better than we expected! Gretchen was more than willing to stay around after the ceremony to help set up and decorate for our reception. She went above and beyond, with the way they packaged all the flowers up at the end so we could take them home. Even pulling the contents of the terrariums carefully to the would be replanted. Gretchen captured the exact playful, relaxed, colorful and Southwestern vibe we were going for with our wedding. I had shown her some pictures I liked and she managed to design florals that captured the essence of what I had shown her. She used succulent, cactuses, dried flowers and fresh flowers in wonderful combinations. Everything from the flowers she prepared for my hair, to the corsages, boutonnieres, to the table arrangements were so perfect. I have gotten compliments upon compliments for the flowers in my hair, especially. I never thought I would be the kind of person who dried out their wedding bouquet, but my bouquet was so stunning that I couldn't imagine throwing it away - so it is hanging in our closet as I write this. We also rented the chuppah Gretchen has on hand. it is a beautiful wooden chuppah and she used greenery in a simple, asymmetrical arrangement. Note that the chuppah is not very large and it was a bit crowded for our parents and officiant to stand under - just something to keep in mind if you plan to incorporate that standing arrangement into your ceremony. read more

Wow! Gretchen at Petals Ink is absolutely amazing. Not only is she incredibly talented, kind, and artistic... she is reasonable! I planned a wedding in Austin from California - not an easy task yet Gretchen made me feel comfortable from the very first email. She was able to put into words exactly what we wanted based on the inspiration photos, she remained ever conscious of our budget, understood the venue, and offered alternatives when it seemed things that I suggested were going to be too expensive. She is a great communicator. I loved her idea of repurposing the bridesmaid bouquets as table centerpieces... that was amazing - they carried gorgeous bouquets and I didn't have buy additional flowers for the tables. Everything she did was creative, beautiful and completely in keeping with our look and feel. She offered wonderful suggestions and seemed to be psychic about what I liked and didn't. She incorporated our table labels into the centerpiece design perfectly. She is also amazing at understanding what flowers and textures we wanted even when I didn't know the actual names - and never laughed at us for calling curly kiwi vine "wavy sticks" or craspedia "little yellow ball flowers". It was amazing to be able to enjoy our rehearsal dinner and day of the wedding without a single thought to decor and have it be phenomenal. Gretchen was my florist for my July wedding at Mercury Hall, and her team is wonderful to work with! I was extremely happy with all our floral details. I received so many compliments on the wall of flowers behind our "cake" table - we had pie! It was so simple, yet elegant. In addition to the beauty of her work, I can attest to the toughness of the bouquets. I took mine to Barton Springs after our ceremony. It was in the afternoon and hot. The groom and I jumped in while I was holding my bouquet, and the pictures are my absolute fav! My bouquet held through several jumps, in fact, and then I did my bouquet toss from the side of the pool with some friends and random swimmers. So fun! read more

I went to the Petals, Ink. flower truck this weekend by the Tasty Spoon. I got a free stem through their hashtag day promotion, and that locally grown stem was beautiful. The ladies at the truck were super sweet, and it had a bunch of instagrammable spots around the truck perfect for my feed. I was on their website and saw that they have floral workshops where you can make your own bouquets. My girlfriends and I are making plans to go out soon! read more

Initially, I was concerned that the rustic, succulent style we chose would not mesh well with the contemporary decor and lighting at the W, but it all blended perfectly! Gretchen initially had me fill out a quick questioner and then met with me to discuss ideas she had and the cost of the work. She was really good about working within our budget and her creativity was impressive. She really got us and what we were looking for. Our flower girl was only 15 months at the time of the wedding and she came up with an excellent floral piece for her. It was actually my favorite piece..it was a ball of ribbon with some small durable carnations. The ball had a long ribbon "handle" for my daughter to hold easily, it was great!
