I am very upset with the result and will never go back there again. There was no regard for my preferences or wishes. I specifically asked the groomer, Chrystal, tto cut just half an inch on her back, tail and ears, and she agreed to my request. My dog is a havanese double coated dog. When I picked up my dog she was hidden from me and the receptionist insisted that I pay prior to seeing her. My dog was then presented to me totally shaved, almost to the bare skin, and with nicks on both her ears and on her back. I was shocked and appalled to see when my dog was shaved without my consent, awareness or prior discussion of even the possibility of the dog being shaved (to the skin) for any reason. If this was divulged or discussed with me prior to leaving the dog with this establishment (Bark Avenue Pet Spa) I would have just left with my dog. The groomer did a terrible job and I am extremely upset as this was the opposite of what I requested. The groomer shaved my dog to the skin without my knowledge or consent, and shaving a double-coated breed can really ruin the coat. I am extremely upset. Research other groomers, I regret using this place. If you decide to take a chance with them at least insist to get and obtain your dog in your possession before you pay.

They let me book an appointment for her and they let me go back and sit with her while it's getting done. They are all so kind and sweet to my Tobey. Lack of professionalism and racist behaviour?…read more I was looking to get my cat groomed, but the staff lady who is the groomer told me that she cannot accept my cat because the hair was too close to the skin, REALLY? As in hair suppose a separate layer, which makes no sense for number of reasons. One my cat was groomed there before, but the difference the appointments were made my phone not through walk in. Second my father who is NOT a professional cat groomer had bought pet clippers and shaved the cat before. Plus she could have offered "shaving waver" IF THAT WAS THEIR CONCERN. I am not questioning her skills, but i am questioning the assessment and her unprofessional behaviour and the dismissal answer i received? Her immediate denial, rude behaviour, and lack of professionalism makes one think if her denial of service was more racially/discriminatory rather than the answer I received "hair is too close to the skin". Pure discrimination and unprofessionalism in my view.
