While the products sold at Pet Supplies Plus in Whitewater are diverse and reasonably priced, their pet grooming service is appalling
I took my three small dogs in for grooming. The overhead music speakers were loud and of a musical style that was hardly soothing to the dogs. Two young girls, perhaps university students at UW Whitewater, each took a dog to their grooming table. I explained that my small dogs are easily frightened and I asked if I might stand next to the table that Mollie was on, she being more nervous than Ellie, her sister that was also being groomed. The young girl replied, "No, it is against corporate policy.
I understand corporate policy and its necessity, but surely corporate policy could be slightly adjusted when a dog is visibly trembling and increasingly agitated. When I asked the young girl to please call the store manager over, she refused to do so. Her colleague also chimed in: "It's corporate policy, sir.". At that point I said, "Fine, unhook my dogs and bring them to me. I'll not have my dogs traumatized by your service. I'll take them somewhere else. I'm never coming here again."
Instead of merely complying with my request, the young girl I was initially speaking with retorted, "You're frightening us and I'm going to have the manager call the police!" "Freightening you?" I replied, "I'm giving you customer feedback, you dimwit!"
So, it appeared to me that a reasonable request to have the manager summoned so I could explain my request and perhaps have some kind of reasonable accommodation was being wildly escalated by a snippy little bitch. "Bring my dogs to me now," I ordered, "or I will be the one calling the police," as I pulled out my cellphone and readied to call. Both girls complied, I located my wife, we paid for a few supplies and left.
Pet Supplies Plus is no place to have your dogs groomed if they are of a nervous breed, and the grooming staff there is completely intransigent, has no compassion for a trembling dog, will not accommodate a request to summon the manager, and threatens to escalate a reasonable customer request into a police event.
The entire event was simply bizarre and unnecessary. If you have small breed dogs that have some separation anxiety during grooming, DON'T go to Pet Supplies Plus in Whitewater. Their grooming staff will show no compassion as they unnecessarily escalate an already stressful situation. read more
