Extremely rude female reptile employee. Told us "Brendon is just a manager, he doesn't know…read moreanything" after we were given false info, refused to sell us something KNOWING it was a temp situation while waiting for the correct tank to come in, on top of NOT being called when the animal we wanted was in stock, per Brendon. Then began pressuring us to buy a product 3x the price of what we actually needed. Luckily we visited another location and were helped. Will never be bringing business to this location again. it's worth driving the extra 30 minutes to my next nearest location where the friendly & knowledgeable staff met our needs.

I agree with Mika, the hair cuts the groomer would give our senior dog was never even (always…read morechoppy like Mike said), & when we talked to the groomer to explain things we wanted - like cleaning up the area under the tail and keep it short for cleanliness reasons; the hair in that area was also chopping like they used a scissors & not clippers so it would be smooth & comfortable for my pet. Our dog is in the Scottish breed and the breed is always groomed with long eyebrows standing straight out over the eyes. And a beard down the chin. When we took our pet in the next time we pointed these things out requesting no scissors cut but the more standard cut for the breed. When we came to pick up our pet she was completely shaven, body, legs, face, everything. We were appalled by the results and when we questioned the groomer about the cut she said (while she stood there with her arms folded and her hip sticking out in one direction and a condescending look on her face and said "I've been a groomer for ____ yrs and I know how to groom a dog". Well, missy, I beg to differ if this is the result. And she said we asked for something different each time and maybe we shouldn't come back. We had recently moved to this area & had our last groomer for 9 yrs. We wanted this place to be our new groomer and we took our pet in 6 times and our wishes were never followed so this was the last straw. We got our money back for that visit and never went back. Our last visit was a little more than a year ago but I'm writing this now because I saw PetSmarts new push for new clients. They probably need more clients because they drove the other ones away. Really poor attitude from the groomers - particularly the ones who have been there the longest. Final word - BEWARE

I filled out an application to adopt a cat from this place and waited well over a week and a half…read morefor the owner, Donna to call and tell me that you have to be 24 years old to adopt. I am 21 years old and she bluntly told me that I am "too young and immature to adopt". She than proceeded to hang up on me than call me back from a different phone number to tell me that my application had been denied. This shelter also has a website that is apparently not up to date. The visiting hours are listed as 10am-3pm Wed-Fri and 12-4 Saturday. Upon arriving to the shelter I was told that I am only allowed to see the cats 12-4 Saturday and that is it. What if people have to work weekends? Donna's tone was very unprofessional as was her attitude towards me. When I called the shelter initially to ask if a cat was available the staff responded unprofessionally as well. Needless to say, I will rescue a cat from a more professional shelter and strongly advise all not to from this one.

The smell of feces and urine is almost unbearable in this shop. That tells you everything that you…read moreneed to know. That they do not care for the animals whatsoever. I saw Guinea pigs in a layer of feces, feces flung all over the walls, and filthy fish tanks. I saw more dead animals than I ever thought I'd see in a store called 'Pet Pals', including a lizard so dead he was starting to dehydrate. There was a fish that was alive but stuck in the filter (along with several other dead and decaying fish) so I told the man working there and he just said 'Yeah, that happens all the time.' Didn't go back to resolve the issue, didn't even say 'let me take care of that' to make me feel like he was going to. Just no effs given. I was particularly scarred by the look of a dogs face who was lying on the ground in the back room with sad eyes. I don't feel that dog is taken care of either, and why should I after everything else that I saw? This place should be shut down or sold to someone who has even a single caring bone in their body.

And me and my whole family are great with taking care of fish, and yes the service was good in store so I'm happy about that, I just am wondering how/ why the fish died within probably 5 days! I've always been able to keep every kinda fish I've had alive and Im good with fish, and I did everything right so it has to be something in the store! And I did ask how long to leave the fish in the bag/ let float on top of the water before putting them into the water because I know some fish are different depending on the store temperature and all that!, and the girl just said "uhm I'm guessing 24 hours or something I have no clue for most the fish" even though that's her job but it's okay she tried her best!! But it's whatever I'm just not gonna buy fish from there anymore I guess!

1 Star -- Disgusting, Deceptive, and You Picked the WRONG Person to Scam…read more I am beyond disgusted with Petland Janesville. They knowingly sold me a puppy infected with Giardia, a serious intestinal parasite, and then had the audacity to act like I wouldn't figure it out. Newsflash -- you tried to fool the wrong person. The staff clearly think customers are naïve, but I did my homework. My vet confirmed the diagnosis and was appalled that a store would sell a sick puppy while lying about it. When I confronted them, they danced around it, blamed it on "adjustment diarrhea," and pointed to their little fake manual like that excused their dishonesty. Let's be clear -- lying about the cause of a puppy's diarrhea and covering up a Giardia infection isn't customer service, it's fraud. And you won't get away with it this time. Not only am I taking legal action, but I'm making sure every single person in this area knows exactly what you're doing. And next time, don't try to scam one of the area's most successful restaurateurs and entrepreneurs. You might be able to lie to someone else, but you're not going to lie to me. Before you even think about replying to this, Mr. Owner, know this -- I've already caught onto your games, your lies, and your unacceptable business practices. We're going to court, and I fully intend to hold you accountable. You will not silence me, and you won't keep deceiving people in this community. I'm making it my personal mission to ensure every local, every family, and every animal lover knows the truth about Petland Janesville -- a store that willingly sells sick, parasite-infected puppies and tries to cover it up. Consider this your wake-up call: your days of deceiving innocent people are coming to an end. To anyone reading this -- stay far away from Petland Janesville. They don't care about the animals or their customers. All they care about is the money. If you love animals, don't support this place.
