on 2/13/26 I dropped off an extremely nervous terrier @ Pet Supplies Plus in Durham - she's been to groomers before but she's so anxious as she grow older I fear a heart attack - truly. But she was covered in mats (I was trying to groom her at home but she's too hard too control - it wasn't working) AND long toe nails. Kaitlyn groomed her -OMG! it was amazing - yes she now looks like a fat guinea pig (which is why I'm not including a photo) but I don't care about the look, told Kaitlyn that I just needed to get rid of the mats, we talked and made a plan to 'take it all off and we will start all over for a new coat' - will go back in 6 weeks, and ask for Kaitlyn! BTW the free toy they give the dog - might be a 'gimmick' but it's weird - my dog has been carrying it around all day - go figure - hates the store, but loves the toy. Definitely recommend. read more

My appointment was scheduled for 1:30 and I received a text that I could bring my dog in at 11:30 for his grooming appointment. Me and my husband received a call at 12:28 pm stating our dog was experiencing high anxiety and rubbing his paws raw to get out of the caged kennel .As I have stated we arrived at 11:30 and Pet Supplies called us a hour and a half later stating this issue. Why was our dog left in the kennel for so long? This is not our first incident with this place. The first incident occurred when we received a call from that our dog pooped in the cage. Most folks like us know our animals and our dog would never poop in a kennel. Once my husband arrived our dogs paws were raw and bleeding. They stated he was given a bath and blow dryed but was unable to trim his nails or clip his hair down. My husband stated the lady he spoke with had a nonchalant attitude and the groomer in the back would not even look at him directly. They wanted to give us 20% off their services. My husband stated his paws were raw and bleeding why are we being charged. So the manager stepped in and stated no charges would be encountered. Our dog has never encountered issues with other groomers just this one. We thought we would give them another chance. But we will never step foot into that place. And one last thing we have a Shitzu and most folks know their demeanor is very calm and easy going. Pet supplies may delete this post and that's fine. Just making others aware. Please pay attention to your dog's demeanor after their grooming from this place. read more

This was the worst grooming experience I've had in my 11 years as a dog owner. My appointment was originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 at 9am with Tiro. I received a text message 30 minutes before my appointment stating I needed to cancel because the groomer was no longer available. I rescheduled for Thursday, March 6 at 1pm with MJ. I dropped my dog off and was told it would be a "while" due to the number of appointments scheduled for the day. Four hours passed and I hadn't heard from the groomer. I began calling the store at 5pm because I needed to know the status of my dog. In my experience, it is very unusual that a groomer doesn't provide updates, especially after having my dog for this long. It took numerous phone calls to the front of the store and the grooming area before anyone answered. Unfortunately, as soon as someone answered, I was placed on a long hold and no one returned to the phone. I also texted the groomer, but received no response. As a result, I decided to drive to the store in hopes that my dog was safe. I've never been in a situation where staff could not confirm the status of my pet. On my way to the store, I decided to call one more time. Someone answered, but could not confirm the status of my dog. Once I arrived at the store at 5:30pm, the groomer said "I was just texting you!", which seemed to be a convenient excuse after my multiple attempts of trying to reach someone via phone and text. At that moment, I was told that it would be another 45 minutes before my dog's cut was complete due to the amount of walk-ins. Why accept walk-ins if you were already busy with the scheduled appointments? According to MJ, the only service left was to clean and shape my dog's face, and that she would be ready at 6:15pm, which I confirmed multiple times. As I'm traveling back home frustrated without my dog (I'm sure she's distressed at this point), I received a text from MJ at 5:44 pm (only 15 minutes later) that my dog's service was done (as I'm stuck in 5pm traffic on the highway). I was puzzled by this text because MJ confirmed she'd be ready at 6:15pm. I called the store to confirm if this text was accurate. According to MJ, a slot "opened up" right after I left, and was able to finish my dog's cut quicker. My mother picked up my dog since I was stuck in traffic. My mother spoke with the "store manager" who offered no resolution. Ultimately, I was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the service provided, specifically with the unprofessional behavior and poor grooming results, such as an uneven cut, skin irritation, uncut nails, untrimmed paw pads, and a dirty face that was never cleaned (my dog still had eye gunk and beard stains after a "full" grooming service). It makes me wonder how my dog was treated while in their possession. These issues have caused significant concern for my pet's well-being. This was a major inconvenience and I would never recommend this grooming service to anyone. Both of these pictures were taken after the service. read more

Ann Marie saw me confused and asked how she could help...We went around the store and I left w a limited ingredient diet. Mydog is doing a lot better. Traveling through NC it was difficult to find certain dog food. Pet Supplies Plus had what we were looking for AND even more that we have only found online & it was cheaper too! The durham stores floor looks worn out. That tells me it is a popular place for so many people to wear out their floor! I appreciate the girl Annie with her colorful hair accessories or earings. She was very knowledgeable about the different dog foods. I did not know that this place makes and sells their own brand of dog food. She showed me the different fish they have and who can or cannot be in the same tank. The store could use a facelift but it's worth while to visit. read more

What happened to this place? I've been coming here regularly since it opened, both for pet supplies and to use their self-service dog wash station. Up until today, I would have given the place five stars. In the past, the employees have been friendly and helpful. In the past, the nice things all of these other people said were true. Tonight, I went in to give my dog a bath. I usually get the punch card because I know I will be back. This time, I opted to pay more for a single bath because I truly don't know if I will bother with this place again. I walked in the door at 8:20 and asked for a bath. I was promptly and rudely told that they close the bath area at 8:30. This is not posted anywhere - not online, not in the store. I promised to be quick and was able to use the bath. About five minutes into the process, the rude employee started pacing around, leaving cleaners in the bath area and then going so far as to turn off most of the lights in the bath area as a clear "get out" signal. I would get all of this...if it were an actual store policy and not an employee simply being rude and lazy. To the manager, if this is an actual policy, train your employees to clearly communicate this, and clearly communicate it on all platforms to customers. If this is not your policy, you just had a rude employee try to turn a paying, regular customer away from a business that relies on paying, regular customers 40 minutes from closing time. This is to especially recognize Corinthia (not sure of spelling). My mini poodle has extra high anxiety, and does not do well at grooming appointments, to say the least. Corinthia's patience and kindness was SO appreciated today! My dog was way overdue for a grooming and "not having it" , but somehow Corinthia made it happen. This was my first grooming appointment for my dog at Pet Supplies Plus, and I will be back. Prior to this, I've shopped at this store several times and always found the staff to be very nice and helpful. read more

Stopped by here out of curiosity. I was definitely impressed. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. The sweet young lady at the register informed me that they have only been open for about a week. The store looked very clean and everything was stocked. They had a variety of different dog food brands. Not only did they have pet supplies, they also had actual live animals inside. They had fish, chameleons, leopard geckos, frogs, hamsters, and even birds. They also have a section inside where you can wash your dog. The grooming department wasn't quite open but in a week or so it will be up and running. If you are a cat lover they have a section where you can adopt kittens and cats! I will definitely be coming back for all my animal supply needs. read more

So both of my dogs needed to be washed so I took them to this pet store down the street from me. And the pet washing stations are in the back so me and my boyfriend walked to the back with our dogs and right before we hit the wash station I stopped and said wait we need shampoo. So I kept asking him (my boyfriend) where the shampoo aisle was. And Guy (the new manager) that worked there just randomly came up cause I saw him starting at us and was like did y'all need help before I can even answer he asked do we need to wash our dogs . And I just looked and said uhh yeah and he said ok you have to go to the front and pay first and we have shampoo in the back that's free. Which I already I knew cause we wash the dogs there a couple of times before he even started working there. And we answered by saying ok thanks . Then I finally found the shampoo aisles which he followed me down. And my boyfriend watched him from the back. I ask my boyfriend is this a good shampoo to buy because one of my dogs has a lot of fur and he said yes . Went to check out apparently Guy the manager was in the back watching me cause my boyfriend was watching him followed me to the cash register just to watch the transaction so I paid my 35 dollars and just went to back . Then he follows me to the back and ask me right in front of my boyfriend did I pay for it. And I said yes you watch me pay for it then he tried to laugh it off then walked away then he went into the room across from us and started staring weirdly then came back out to say something to us again and we ignored him . Having a manager followed me around the store being 5 months pregnant and racial profiling is very unsettling. With working in retail we understand if you have a high shrink. However once you saw me pay for it you should've left me alone instead of trying to follow me around the store. This not only gave me anxiety but it gave one of my dogs anxiety to have to go through this. It is very unacceptable and I hope it gets fix ASAP. Also, After speaking to the lovely Kassi which we have known since we moved to Durham by coming into to pet supply. We were told this is not his first time following people around the store. And other customers have filed a complaint. read more

The employees were super friendly and very helpful. The store was clean and very organized. We bathed our dog in the self grooming area and found that to be beneficial. I do think they should put combs and brushes in that area. The prices are very competitive. We are looking forward to having another pet store option that is conveniently located to our home. read more

This location is basically a block from my house. My daughter has taken her French Bulldog there for both self-service dog wash and grooming in the past. I just purchased a Yorkie, and called to arrange a grooming appointment. Unfortunately, the store does not currently have a groomer. So even though it is convenient enough to walk to, I may have to patronize a competitor if services are not available. read more

I love this store! The customer service is amazing and I always feel welcome, even when arriving to bathe several dogs. Their wash stations are well stocked with shampoo, ample hot water and towels, and more importantly, waterproof aprons to keep me from getting a bath myself. I live on the other side of town near some other pet stores, but I drive to this place for the atmosphere and for the great deal I get on the baths. If you buy a frequent bath card it is an incredible bargain at $5 per dog, compared to the $25 per dog to wash them YOURSELF at the closest place to me. It's well worth your time to go there. read more

Absolutely horrible. I went in to get some advice on a new food for my picky dog. One gal approached me to ask if I was finding everything alright. I told her my story and asked for advice on food. She recommended their brand (which my dog has tried and doesn't like) so I asked for other recommendations and I kid you not.. her response was "I don't know much about dog food so I couldn't tell you." It was also a crapshoot with the other girl, zero help and again just recommend their brand. Now for my biggest problem. I got two small bags of food, both which my dog refused to eat. I went to return the bags (because I've done this at other Pet Supplies Plus locations and all other pet stores in general) and they said because the bags were open I couldn't return but they could give me a discount (10%) if I bought something else. They are apparently franchised and every store is different.. but let me tell you this one absolutely sucks. I'm headed to PSP in Raleigh instead. read more
