Today was our first time visiting Pet Supplies Plus, and I am so glad we stopped in! We had just left another pet store after a very disappointing experience while trying to get some guidance on freshwater fish for our 10-gallon tank. As we were driving, we happened to see Pet Supplies Plus and decided to stop in to see what they had. From the moment we walked in, the experience was completely different. The store was very clean, the cashier immediately welcomed us, and we quickly found the fish section. While we were looking at the bettas, an associate named Ben came over and started telling us about a beautiful betta he really liked. It was such a genuine interaction and immediately made us feel comfortable asking him for some guidance. Ben was incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. He answered every question we had in great detail and gave us wonderful guidance on which fish would be the best fit for our 10-gallon tank and our current experience level. He never made us feel rushed or like we were asking too many questions. He took the time to explain our options and helped us make choices we felt confident about. What I especially appreciated was how willing he was to help us choose the colors of the fish we wanted so our children could name them and make the experience even more special. When we asked what food would be best, Ben personally walked us over to the aisle, showed us the different options, and gave us his recommendations. THIS is what spectacular customer service looks like. Ben truly exceeded our expectations. You can tell when someone genuinely cares about what they do, and that absolutely came through in the way he spoke about the fish and took the time to help us. His knowledge, patience, kindness, and passion completely turned our day around. Pet Supplies Plus gained a new customer today because of Ben. We will absolutely be returning. Please make sure he receives the recognition he deserves! And if Ben happens to see this: thank you for helping make our son's birthday so special. Our six new fish have happily acclimated to their new home and are already very loved. Our boys had the best time coming up with some amazing names for their new little fish friends, and seeing how excited they are has made the whole experience even more special. While I was shopping I was shocked to hear not only cries, but screaming from a little dog being "groomed" by an EXTREMELY HORRIBLE person working there! She manhandled this poor little dog. I was standing there watching her for almost 10 minutes!!! She was grabbing both his arms and his paws, pulling them outward in a direction that they don't go! She was squeezing this poor dog's hands so hard that the dog was literally screaming. THEN, she yelled at him, AND reprimanded the dog as if it was the dogs fault! PATHETIC! All of this was turning my stomach! You DON'T treat a pet or ANY animal this way! Then after the "groomer" or whatever this disgusting, obnoxious looking woman is, briefly stopped, she patted the dog on the head. What a pathetic actress! A moment later she was back in action causing extreme pain on the poor little dog once again. I understand that sometimes pets are scared, but this behemoth of a woman was actually causing pain on purpose because the little dog was crying and didn't want to stand still, so she would inflict pain on the dog because she obviously was angry that the dog was jumping around in pain. That crazy woman needs to be fired, and not allowed to wowith pets ever again! read more

I take my two huge Rottweilers to be groomed here pretty regularly for the past two years and have never had a problem. Scheduling is easy over the phone or online. The staff always does a great job. I've also used the self service dog wash. Usually there is a wait so be prepared especially on weekends; however, if you have a dog like me that you can't get into a bathtub it's really convenient and the price can't be beat at $5 a wash. read more

The staff and wash equipment. Always rude and disrespectful. Over the last decade plus I have been disappointed with the staff and dog wash. I use this store for a quick dog wash. It is close to home, but it is not my choice store as to the many reasons: The equipment is old and the majority of the time broken -especially the dryer. Always rude staff. I have two Great Pyrenese females and one of the two is very reactive and will bite me in the process of seeing another dog come close to us. I generally wash them both at the same time-but on occasion it is just one. On 3/18/25 aprx 7:05 in the evening I paid for only one dog wash. She defecated in a widespread area: it was all over her fur and hind legs. (She had eaten a whole bag of Italian coco cookies.) As I am in the process a man entered the wash bay with a grooming bag and soon after a Rottweiler- my dog became very reactive, and the man and his dog seen that. I politely asked the man to please give me just a little time as I am frightened that I and or they will get bit if they proceed to walk past me. The customer didn't oblige and nor did Patty the shift supervisor. It is unnecessary to burst in and frighten me- scream and make us a (paid customer )feel rejected. We're simply advising alerting and asking for few moments space for a legit reason. A staff supervisor is unprofessional-outta line when you're arguing- yelling- screaming at me an already paid customer and insist that that my situation is irrelevant for waiting a few small moments? We are not teenagers I am a mom with her dogs and her son. This isn't a need for VIP privileges -it's simple for safety. Its unprofessional to argue and be insistent he can't wait as I paid first and was there first -it is important to give respect to all parties. The last wash is generally 8:00 there was plenty of time. (Mind you each wash is only 20 minutes and I was there 7:05 ) I do handle my pets very well and always curb them etc. On other occasion many customers groom and take forever- we don't were always respectful. This review is for the SELF DOG WASH I've used self washes for my little dogs in the past - was happy to know there was one near to my home at pet supplies plus where I shop often. What a HUGE disappointment!! Water was cold and then got a slight bit warmer - more like cool. The room itself is also rather grubby - cold and not what I consider clean. So after his wash - we moved on to the blow dry -- COLD AIR!! I let an employee know who then let another employee know only to tell me this is the regular temp!! Soooooooooo upset and disappointed -- I don't need my dog catching pneumonia!! We left with him wrapped up in a towel (our towel) and dried my shivering little guy at home!! No one even offered us a store credit or refund -- so not happy with this entire experience Definitely would not recommend!!! read more

I have been coming here for years because it's very convenient for me, and they always have what I need, though I wish they carried more Zignature Lamb Formula bags because they are always either running out or they already have run out by the time I go and pick it up for my dog Wrigley. Most of the workers are very nice here and very helpful. One younger guy once helped my mom understand how we would use one of the dog harnesses for the car. He took it out of the box and showed us how it works. Great customer service on his part! As for the cashiers, they are hit or a miss. The nice thing is that when there is only one line open and it gets very busy, they always call for backup. However, some cashiers have attitude, but most are friendly and personable. This store has really transformed in the past few years. Customer service could have been a bit better at the register but overall the location looked like it had many supplies including grooming. It was also clean which is always nice. Due to Covid, I've become a curbside pickup shopper.  PSP carries many of the products and foods I use for my dog, and they even beat Chewy's prices on his food!  The website is easy to shop, and each time I order, I am beyond pleased at the quick and friendly service from this location.   And, I can't complain about the coupons I get via email--they make my mutt's expensive food much easier to buy. read more

Frequented this store for two years. However, lately they seem to have huge issues getting food out on the store floor. Despite calling ahead three times in as many months and being assured that the food is available it isn't. Each time I arrived to pick up they noted that 'it was likely in the store room and to come back later.' This final time, and it is the final time I enter this store, I was told to give them 3-4 days to make sure it had been moved out to the floor. Hope the dogs understand their forced hunger strike. Management blamed staff and hours, staff blamed management, but no one takes responsibility or fixes the issues. Morton Grove is much better staffed and run by a professional. Probably the worst grooming experience I could have imagined. I was hesitant to sign up my toy poodle for a haircut here but figured I would give it a shot. The picture on the right is his first haircut from a mobile grooming service and the one on the left is from pet supplies on foster. My poor puppy literally looks like a rat now. They shaved him so much, I'm scared his fur wont grow back again. I literally could have done a better job myself. Not only is it uneven but when we brought him back home, they didnt even comb out the hair they cut. I paid for the nail clipping and that wasn't even done correctly. Very unprofessional place run by people who have no clue what they are doing. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

As an update I will respond to the business' reply to my review. First, I did not refuse a titer test, I agreed that would be fine although it would clearly show no evidence of a rabies shot since she hadn't been vaccinated in 4 years so, the extra time added to her unclipped nails to wait for results of a titer that would show what we already know -she has no evidence of rabies antibodies-would not afford me the business I had been receiving from you already. Also, I'm not sure what alternatives to rabies shots you refer to but no one has mentioned that to me, not your company and not my vet. I found a place to get my dogs nails cut and my opinion hasn't changed, it is just unfortunate that you lost a loyal customer for a small 5 minute service that you had been performing for many years with knowledge of our situation. I misplaced the card and called and asked the lady if they could look up that I purchased the self service dog washes. Couldn't find one that fit her on the shelves, so asked an associate, and she was super helpful and showed me to the back where the rest were. This review kinda hurts me to write cuz I'd love to give it a better rating. 2.5. It has nice enough staff. But doesn't feel the cleanest. Prices are reasonable. Mostly. You'll find some great deals and some stuff marked high. I've had a cat, rabbits, and a dog I've shopped for here. On a most recent trip, I took my Vincent here for a dog bath and nail trim. It was a 4-day wait for an available appt. marks off for availability. Vanessa was the groomer. Initially I was told baths take 2-3 hours. She upcharged me for a deluxe bath.. I said yes. Instead of the typical deluxe stuff, she offered to add in some extra de-shedding. My dog, a shiba inu, is a bit of a wimp with baths and trims, but never aggressive. When I picked him up, he perked up again, but she said she didn't brush him throughout process (for the extra deshedding) because of his nature. I still got charged fully. And he still had clumps of hair visibly coming off him. On inspection in the car, I noticed his nails were not cut well either. Not just one, but several of them were splitting. I think this could happen because their nail cutters weren't sharp enough, but I'm not sure. I feel like they could have gone shorter with the trim as well. I used to take him to an independent small shop, when I lived in Hoffman Estates, and now I realize I've taken them so much for granted! I'm stickin with ordering foods online, petsmart/Petco, and continue to hunt for a groomer. read more

**UPDATE** Update to my review yesterday, as I researched more I have found that this is a known issue with Purina One dog food and not this stores fault. I shopped at pet smart yesterday to replace the 30lb bag I had to toss because of these bugs. I checked out their supply of Purina One and it looks like the bottom is taped the same way. So this is definitely a problem with the brand and not the store. I would like to apologize if this caused any issues and Loss of any customers . But please be aware that Purina One has had these issues before with these same bugs. I would choose another brand for your beloved animals . As I stated in my previous review the store has great customer service and items here are at a great discounted price. This was written by me and was not requested by management. I do hope Purina One is taken off the floor though as a precaution. _____________________________________________________________________ I have shopped at this store about 4 times but after today it will be the last time I shop for anything edible for my dog. As I was feeding my dog today I noticed some white growth on her food. I flipped the bag around and realized the bag had been opened and then TAPED closed. What kind of store reseals food and then resells it ! I'm Absolutely disgusted !! I will give credit that customer service is great here and employees are always very sweet but that does not mean I will ever come back. I have only brought my two pups to the groomers here twice, but the two times i have brought them they did an amazing job. I stayed the first time just for their nails to get clipped and the groomers were so nice and gentle, the second time i brought my yorkipoo to Amanda and she did and awesome job. My pup looks like a little fluffy cloud and i just wanted a cut around his face and she did an awesome job. Also the prices are very reasonable and affordable. Will be coming back.
