We loved that we could find well priced gold fish to fill our backyard pond. However, The first batch of 15 fish did not fare well & several (about half) died in the first few days. We thought perhaps our pond treatment had not kicked in & perhaps had some impact on the fish. After insuring a few weeks more pond water treatment with barley straw and other fish friendly treatment, we returned to Pet Supplies to purchase more fish only to find that the entire stock had been quarantined & treated because of an illness (the "ick") which affects the fish and inflicts a white film on their bodies. We tried to share that our first litter of fish perhaps had suffered this illness & thus died but were told that the illness had only just been discovered. We were encouraged to come back a few days later when the fish should be recovered. I had some hesitation about returning but my youngest child continuously begged for more fish & we'd found the other store out of stock with this favorite fish. I did return to purchase double the amount - partly as insurance against unnatural attrition. So far 6 or so have died. Service is friendly & varies in knowledge. Not sure how other pet supplies fare.... read more

The rude teenagers that are working there on Sunday, May 28th decided to close down the self dog wash over an hour before close. I am sure they can't be bothered to stay a minute past closing time to clean. If that service is not going to be available during regular business hours it should be posted as such. *shakes head* I don't even know what to say. They are the sweetest, most helpful people I have ever encountered in a business. Anytime I walk in there, I get a smile, a "Hello!" and a "let me know if you need help finding anything." I never need help though, because the store is so WELL put together, that I easily find stuff that I am looking for without any assistance. They've got the best prices for my furries. I typically get the 12oz cans of Wellness in the plain colored cans, at about 2.98 a can. This is about 2.5 days worth of wet food per cat. Honestly, how can that be beat? Seriously. They've always got sales on the treats, just yesterday I bought the little dental treats, typically 10.98, got it for 7.98. I mean, it's almost rude, they're nice AND have ridiculous sales. Don't even get me started on the coupons, half the time I don't even know that I can get discounts, but because I have a member card, the price is always LOWER than what I estimate. I used to think I was bad at math, but what's REALLY happening is that I'm getting discounts for loyalty and/or buying the sale items. When I feel like I've behaved well enough for the week, I treat myself to have a look in the back left corner, there you'll find some bunnies, birdies, and baby lizards that I want, but won't get because I haven't the space for a zoo. Shortly after my visits, typically I get a thank you e-mail with a picture of the kind manager, and a survey to discuss my experience, which is always awesome. I get all of my fur babies stuff from here, I don't go broke and they stay healthy and happy. Where am I losing in all this? I'll tell you... Nowhere. read more

I come here a lot since our household has both a dog and cats. Plus it's up the road from me. The customer service is always friendly, efficient, and super knowledgeable. Most of the time I know what I want. But other times, when I have specific requests for my elderly cats, etc., they know exactly where things are and what kinds of products might match my needs. Plus they are kind people. Once when a price was mismarked, the manager gave me the lower price, which of course is the right thing to do. I often wind up chatting with the employees because they're so friendly. When employees seem to like their jobs (I know they may not), customers are often happier too. read more

My daughter and her boyfriend were visiting and we needed another dog bowl for his dog. The staff were very helpful because I was in a hurry and they told me where dog bowls were in the store. I was out of the store in 5 minutes with the perfect bowl (matched the ones we already had - we have 4 dogs). Also, we feed our dogs (2 Golden Retrievers and 2 Pugs) Hills Science Diet's Perfect Weight Adult dog food. Lately, it has been hard to get it in the large bag and with 4 dogs eating it twice a day, small bags don't cut it! The staff at this store have been very helpful in keeping it in stock. This place is just up to road for me and conveniently located near the Kroger I shop at on Sundays. In terms of selection, this place is bountiful. Dogs, cats, birds, lizards, whathaveyou, they got it. They also have the best litter for apartment dwellers (Tidy Cats Small Spaces) and seem to be the only ones in the area who stock it. You need it, they got it. The staff is friendly, young, and energetic. But here is where they fall one star short. It seems that the staff wants to socialize more than ask customers if they need help. A small problem, but it exists. You must check out the birds, reptiles, and rabbits they sell in the far back. But please, be mindful when you purchase these creatures. They live a long time and need to be catered to the same way your dog or cat does. Cuteness doesn't necessarily make it a good pet for you. Volunteering at your local shelter teaches you these things, ya know? Great place! read more

Poor customer service. There were two employees there tonight. One shared with me that she was new. Her lack of help told me that she was not interested in learning anything about the business. She directed me to ask the "guy" at the counter. When I went up there he acted as if I was bothering him. Neither knew anything about the cat food that I was inquiring about - even though it was an item advertised in their sale paper. The bottom line from both of them, "I guess we don't carry it", That will be my last visit to this store. read more

As a multi-store marketing director, I spend a good part of my day responding to customer reviews, and it takes a lot for me to actually sit and write a negative one. Today I felt completely disrespected, disregarded and flat-out unappreciated at a store I frequent at least weekly for all of my dog's needs. After this evening, I will shop elsewhere. I walked in at 8pm to give my dog a quick bath (self-serve) as I have done several times before. I asked the cashier if she preferred I pay before or after (the sign by the tubs says to pay before, but sometimes they don't care). She said "either way is fine" per usual and as I headed back toward the wash area, she stopped me abruptly and said "actually we already cleaned the tubs and they are closed for the night." Without anything close to an apology in her tone, I was completely caught off guard. I asked her if she could please make one exception as we are desperately in need of this bath before an event tomorrow morning, but she would not budge. I nearly begged and explained how loyal we are to their store and how much I'd appreciate if she could let me give my dog a quick wash (they don't close till 9, it would take 10 minutes) yet she refused to lend even a slight understanding. I told her she lost a loyal customer and would receive this review, and she could not have cared less. This is the worst, zero quality customer care experience I've yet to receive in Ann Arbor. I feel so completely disappointed and will be sure to make it clear to all who ask where I go for my dog's care. read more

Just had the pleasure of visiting this store. I have been to other pet supplies plus stores so I thought I knew what to expect. Boy was I surprised! I was greeted at the door by 2 staff members eagerly wanting to help me find what I needed.
