I prefer the Penthouse Pet Supermarket which is where you can hire famous glamour models. This is interesting because it's a lot different to some of the other pet stores we go to, with a few different product options and surprises, but it is similarly overpriced, much like Petco. I have a lot of cats to feed so I go to a lot of pet stores, overpriced or not. If it was cheaper, I'd come here regularly, just for a little variety. If you are into variety for your babies, and trying different products, would you like coming here. There are good and bad things about it, but because of price I couldn't give it more than three. read more

The store manager, Eddie Wesley was incredibly rude. I grabbed some treats for my pup from the sale rack. I specifically grabbed a braided, a stick and a rounded chewable. The braid and stick had 50% off tags on them individually. The rounded chewable was in a box of others like it and the box was labeled 50% off. When Eddie was ringing me up, I noticed he didn't take 50% off the rounded one and I told him I got it from a bin that was marked as 50%. He then told me that because it did not have a sticker on it. It wasn't 50% off. And so I told him OK sir well, I just want to let you know that you have it in a bin of others that are like it that is marked 50% off. Then he said you're not listening to me look down look at the sticker and see that it doesn't have 50% off on it. I said I understand that I just don't think that you're understanding me and I left the store. I was really surprised that a manager was talking to a customer that way, I've been in that store several times and I've never seen that gentleman before however, I will not be bringing my business back to this location ever again. read more

Honestly it's disappointing when you have staff working and they care more about their personal lives than their actual jobs when they're on the clock. Came by to purchase dog food yesterday, walked in and we were ignored by 3 employees standing but he front door. They didn't acknowledge us at all, say welcome or ask us if we can help them find anything. We go to the register, it was almost an inconvenience because they were comversating. She rings us up, doesn't say hi, or ask us if we found everything we needed. This business will not survive if they continue to have people with that style or lack thereof in terms of guest service. They need to do better. The worst part is, I believe their manager was there and they were just as bad. Just sad honestly. This establishment is doesn't acknowledge African Americans. Every time i come here NOBODY greets my family. This Sunday my daughter asked a lady that worked there if she could hold a rabbit. The lady told her they don't open the cage on weekends. I was already at the rabbits cage and noticed that it was already opened so I picked up the rabbit and held it. The same lady came to me and told me that I couldn't hold the rabbit because it was too small for human interaction, but if that was the issue why are you selling animals that's not ready to go to a forever home. I just tried the self-wash area yesterday for the first time and it makes bathing so much easier... especially for difficult coats like the Chow that I take care of. I even have a utility bathroom at home with a tub and shower. But, this allows you to tether the dog and not lean over. The spray heads are fully adjustable for pressure, temperature and volume. My husband just noticed the new Pet Supermarket in Meyerland Plaza so we wandered in for a look see. The space is large and well organized and all the animal's tanks and cages looked very clean. They have a nice aquarium with lots of fresh water fish in the back which are a little pricey. They also have birds and ferrets toward the middle. My favorite part is that the employees were helpful and knowledgeable. When I asked for a cleaning solution for my cat's ears, they were able to recommend a bottle to me. The manager even helped me by giving me a tip about my cat's chin problems and suggesting a solution that didn't involve buying something at their store. The employee was very nice and took out the ferret so my son could look at it and let it. I found out they even have a self dog wash for $10 where you can wash and blow dry your dog so hair doesn't get everywhere or if you have a small apartment. I would totally bring my cat here for a bath (if they allowed it lol) Extremely impressed with this store and it's customer service! I absolutely love this Pet Supermarket locale. The appearance and size of this location is so spread out. They have great selection for pet lovers. I went specifically looking for treats for my dogs. They did not have what I was looking for but I left with some goodies for my babies. I was looking for Rawhides. The locations in Dallas sell them by the bag but I was unable to find them. Large selection of dog, cat, small animal, birds and fish supplies. Good brands, decent prices when comparing to Petsmart and Petco. I joined their VIP loyalty program on the website. In June they'll open the clinic for discounted vaccines and microchips and heard a groomer is coming too. All in all, I believe it's a great addition to the neighborhood! They have a 2 week baby rabbit in a diet of grapes, blueberries, yellow carrots, and kale. I told a young clerk that those foods are too sweet. The rabbits should mostly be eating hay, some pellets, certain greens. She said they are being fed what their breeder recommends. If you want a healthy rabbit, I wouldn't get one from this place. The breeder they are using is wrong. Those rabbits will have health problems. read more

I've been coming here for about a year to buy cat stuff, crickets, and worms. I like that the employee ask how they can help you, but aren't pushy and don't follow you around. The employees seem happy and always busy. They seem to work together. I love the dog washing area. What real got extra points with me was that unlike other pet stores they aren't pushing fake medical advice or remedies. It's official! We have a Groomer! After a family referral confirmed their arrival Kona and I went on the adventure to try out yet another groomer. The results? Sherry/Sherri (I hope I spelled her name right) greeted us with enthusiasm and interest in my pups personality showed nothing but love for her. She spent ample amount of time making sure Kona felt comfortable before starting. She even let her roam around while we quickly chatted about her cut that she would be performing. You can tell right away that this woman is legit and the nicest! At least 3 employees in the store that just walked around you and never speak or ask can they help you. When you walk in the door they just look at you snd never speak. Very awkward. They treated every customer this way as I watched snd took notice. Seemed like they all hated to be there. When I checked out I wondered if they would speak then. They finally did . We're very excited about this Pet Supermarket! My boyfriend has an 80 lb. chocolate lab, and we're always on the lookout for new places to shop for her. This store has become our go-to pet store. This store was very clean! As mentioned in some other reviews, there is self serve dog washing area. Each station has tall walls, which is great to prevent dogs from jumping out of the area and getting everything wet. I will update this once we actually try it out! Our dog eats Purina Pro Plan, and this dog food is cheaper here than it is at Petco and Petsmart! I believe it was about the same as the Amazon subscription service, but I prefer to purchase it here now (we always either had the subscription bringing too much or not enough, never got it just right). read more

I have been going to the other location on Richmond for a couple years now to bathe my 3 dogs. This is my first and last time going to this Meyerland location. My German Shepard is long coated so it takes a long time to bathe and blow dry him. The thing I love about going to bathe him here is there was never a time limit until today. The lady at the front told me after about 30 minutes that people were waiting and they like us to wrap it up after around 20 minutes. My dog hates baths and likes to bark a lot of the time. So then the manager came up and said our dog was aggressive because he was barking so we needed to hurry because the people waiting were too scared to come in and use the other bath. If you have a dog you shouldn't care about listening to some barking. It's not our fault that you don't like the barking. Pretty much it was a rushed and terrible experience. I was going to buy treats when we left but I didn't want to give this place any more of my business. The other location is definitely the better location. read more

I am happy to have a spot to drop into that I can buy cat items for. I signed up for their rewards, which if you shop here, you should. With your phone number, they give you a great discount. (I.e. $10.99 for cat calming treats in store, but with number, $7.99. Yes, you will find many social media posts geared to you.) I have a few qualms: with "super" in their name, I had hoped for more inventory; AND there are kittens and other animals for sale(bunnies, guinea pigs, ferrets, birds, etc.), and I did not see an adoptive organization's name attached. This worries me. Apart from this, the staff are kind and helpful on the floor and at the register. I have found wait times long because it appears only one register is in use at a time. I went there to shop for a new fish tank and to pass time while I was in the area. Limited number of tanks but I'm impressed with the variety of fishes. The tanks are all well maintain and very clean. Luis saw me looking and immediately came over to help. He is very knowledgeable with the hobby and very patient in answering questions. The prices are much better than some of the shops I've been to in the area. I bought some ottos and plants and I will be going back for more. The self service dog wash sets this store apart from the other pet stores. It was very clean and even stocked with towels for you to dry your dog off. There was even a waterproof apron to help keep me from getting wet. Very nice set up - I was able to get my dog clean in 15 minutes and we were out. Only costs $10!!!! read more

Though perhaps the store is a little understaffed at times, the employees are always friendly and helpful. Even on the phone the staff are helpful! I've been going there since they first open we have six dogs. I buy a lot of food a lot of treats clothes etc. People there in the beginning were very nice and friendly and helpful. However, today I encountered the rudest most condescending "manager" I wash my dogs there, I have four Maltese. And two tiny Chihuahuas. When I was there before the manager allows me to watch the two tiny dogs together for the same price as one big dog. I do always bring my own shampoo and conditioner. today I went to buy a bag of very expensive treats and some crunchy food.I was told in no uncertain terms " you are no one special! you have to pay $10 per dog. I went in to see the beta fish and get one to rescue it from that horrible place. I walk up to them and the water is green and brown. 2 of them were dead, and my daughter and I were devistated.
