As many times as I've been here I'm surprised I haven't reviewed yet. My beautiful puppy was the featured picture from Dec 2021-May 3022 so shame on me! This shop is right next to Publix, very convenient. My chihuahua puppies are very picky eaters and I'm constantly looking for something they'll eat more than once. There's a great variety of foods so eventually I'll find the perfect dry small dog food! Thank you to my cashier Amy for hooking me up with lots of samples and telling me about the unexpected discount today. She's always happy and helpful (must be something in the name). Always great service here in the store and grooming. We get our 16 year old and 2 year old groomed here. They are Bichon mixes so they have to know how to cut. They always do a great job, even with my senior that gets anxiety, they even give her breaks in between grooming so she doesn't stress out. I never asked for that, but they are real loving and that's why I continue to come here! I never have to worry about my furry children with Marlene taking care of them. read more

Make sure to check the prices at check out. More than once.. I have been charged more than what is listed on the shelf. I make management aware and they reduce the price. They did not remove the sales tax for the 2022 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. Called the store after I realized that I was charged sales tax and was told to call corporate as they (the store) do not make decisions. Called corporate (during business hours) and was the only one in the queue but my call was not answered. read more

This concerns the the self serve grooming. I was in this morning and waited for 30 min with my dog next in line, watched a lady that was clearly done washing and drying her dog pick , primp and curl her dog for the next 30 min the other gentleman washed and shampooed his dalmation no less than 3 times. When I saw there was there was no sign of concern that I was waiting, I went to the counter to get my refund. They appoliged for the wait but was informed that they corporate would not let them put a time limit on the wash stations. The lady had been in there for 1 1/2 hours when I left. After Royal Pets in Apopka closed we followed our groomer (Marlene) from Royal Pets to Pet Supermarket in Apopka. I had very high standards and was concerned about finding the perfect business after the amazing service Royal Pets offered. Pet Supermarket is living up to those standards! I like that they have grooming, a pet store, and self-service pet washing station all in one location. The grooming area is VERY clean, no smells, and you can tell that the groomers do a great job at cleaning between each cut. The pet store has a membership that is free to sign up. Take advantage of it, I got a 10% off coupon for the store at sign up and you get money off supplies after you spend a certain amount. The downfall, our greatest expense is grooming, and the coupons and discounts do not apply to grooming services. The store prices are comparable to the same products we usually purchase on Amazon. They have a LARGE selection of pet supplies which is great. Grooming prices I think are on the higher side. At Royal Pets we paid $40 for a basic groom for a small dog. At Pet Supermarket it was $65 and there was no difference in the service provided. But we love Marlene, and she knows my dogs so we will continue to see her. read more

I almost hate to write something negative because I always have such great experiences with this store but that is why I know this was not the normal expectation when I shop here. About a week ago I walked in and it appeared there was no one working in the store. Luckily I just needed treats for my dog and already knew where they were so I ran to grab them quickly. By then there was only one girl up at the counter looking at her phone and a line had been forming. I overheard a customer in front of me ask to speak to a manager, to which the girl replied she was a manager. I know some of the managers as I shop here a lot and would have recognized Pam or Robbie or Jonathan. She then proceeded to speak to only this customer and not call for backup or acknowledge any of the rest of us who were still waiting in line. I can only stay for so long before I have to get home so I had to eventually put my item down and leave without purchasing it since I couldn't wait any longer. I didn't see her name tag, but I am guessing she is a new manager and maybe not fully ready yet. Unfortunately Publix doesn't sell these treats or else I would have just gone next door, but I ended up ordering it off Amazon. Sad to say and I hope the next time I have to go in there I get the customer service that I am used to. read more

I went to the Pet Supermarket location in Apopka, FL in order to use their self-service dog wash station and get another betta fish. First of all, batheing my dog there $10 was worth every penny. ***However, the reason for this review is to commend an awesome employee that I had the pleasure of taking care of me when I went to the Fish department... Her name is JULIE! Not only is she sweet, patient and pleasant, she is very well educated of all the in's and out's of the pet business. Julie went above and beyond to make sure I got everything I needed and answered all of my questions. I witnessed the same when she took care of the next customer. I sure hope management sees this and gives her a raise and/or a promotion as I believe she's earned it! read more

Awesome place, plenty of staff on hand to help if you need anything. Picked up a new beta fish an some things to get started. They have your usual pet food for dogs, cats, fish, an so on. I only stop by to get stuff for the fish but havent been able to explore much but always greeted and friendly overall experience each time. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE AND DO NOT BUY BUNNIES OR OTHER ANIMALS HERE. We purchased a bunny on Sunday (two days ago) along with an extra large cage, "bedding", hay, pellets, a toy and a bowl. Today, two days later, we just paid a $200 vet bill to save our bunny's life. At the store there were three bunnies, two with fuzzy longer hair and one with shorter hair and spots which would become our bunny. The cage is relatively spacious and definitely on full display for shoppers but lined with what we have learned is TOXIC pine shavings. Bunnies are NOT rodents, the are Leporidae and should never be treated as rodents but this is something pet stores (we have learned) notoriously do. On top of toxic bedding, the baby bunnies which are estimated at 3 months old are fed Timothy Hay and Pellets containing a mix of hays and soy. First off, Timothy Hay should never be fed to bunnies under 6 months of age as they are still growing and developing and need alfalfa hay. Secondly, the poor/cheap blend in the pellets and specifically the soy, especially mixed with the wood shaving bedding sets the bunnies up for a fatal condition called gastric stasis. This is a condition which causes their digestive system to basically fail and kills them rapidly. They also only have bottle feeders which are terrible for bunnies and prone to bacteria which we will get to later... When we noticed that our new bunny was not eating or pooping we reached out to the store for help. They had us exchange the good food we had purchased for the Timothy hay and the bad pellets they had been feeding as a fix which we naively went along with. I cannot explain the amount of knowledge we have gained in under 48 hours! This food would make out bunny worse IF she was even interested in eating it. We had to do emergency critical care feeding to try and get food into our bunny which involves feeding pureed food in essence with a syringe. NOT an easy task with a baby bunny. After the critical care still produced no poop it was time to go to the vet. A $200 bill later we have come to find that aside from the gastric stasis our bunny was severely dehydrated and positive for intestinal parasites. Had we not acted fast and had the help of some AMAZING people with ORCA (Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions) our bunny would have died. Someone generously came to our home last night to assess our bunny and help us with a home treatment plan and they got us to a vet who could help. They also informed us that bunnies from Pet Supermarket and similar stores typically die within a week which is why they send you home with a refund coupon when you buy them. They come from a warehouse in Georgia that has been red flagged by PETA for their cruelty to animals. I will spare the details of what I have learned about them but will share the other response from this store. When I informed Pet Supermarket that our bunny would likely die as that is the information I had at the time and frankly we are still not in the clear as of this writing, I was told they were so sorry and would offer me a full refund but I would be required to BRING THE BODY to them! Can you imagine! This is a horrifying and gut-wrenching ordeal and they expect you to bring them the body for a $70 refund! I will NEVER shop at a Pet Supermarket again and will do all I can to help get the word out about pet store bunnies. ***UPDATE POST RETURN*** We just returned all of the products we purchased at Pet Supermarket to them and even got a refund on Bun once we showed the vet bill. We got lucky because the checker raised bunnies with her dad and still has them along with several other animals. The store manager was very kind and expressed her distain for corporate and the other assistant manager who has been written up for his adoption/pet purchase processes before (whatever that means). Regardless, they were so kind individually and said that they have been trying to source from rescues but corporate will not allow it. Who knows but we got a win with the ladies we met today at least being true lovers of animals. The one in particular said she would have the other babies tested for the parasites that Bun has and see if they can treat. I told her I would be checking back on that and if they do treat and clear them we will take at least one home. We will follow up with them for sure. This is the Walmart of all per stores.. lol this place is HUGE and they seem to have everything ! I went in for 1 thing and I ended up buying a few things for my fur baby. The customer service was great and there were a nice amount of people around bringing in their own dogs. My favorite thing is the prices. Visited this pet supermarket as soon as they opened. They have a good selection of all your pet needs but it always feels like I can never get anyone to help or assist me if I have any questions. They are in the process of adding a grooming area as well. My dog really loves the treats. read more

I will never go back and support this store. The culture between employees was very awkward and unprofessional. I fell in love with a dragon at their store and when I went back to adopt him, he was sick. He was not being taken care of properly (per an employee!) and after they told me they'd take him to the vet (after I'd demanded it be done), they never did and ended up sending him back to breeder without letting me know. Wholesaler, I should say, which is Sun Pet LTD. Now, Sun Pet has no way of locating the dragon!? He's lost in the sauce and I'll never know what happened to him. I'm disgusted at the way the pet industry works and even more disgusted at how this company handled things. The manager, Kyoko, didn't even apologize for the trouble and obviously doesn't seem to care about the climate at her establishment because all of the employees were talking behind each other's backs to me and when I let her know, she didn't seem to bat an eye. read more
