Boarded and paid extra for all day play for EVERY day, the only days he was let out for a couple hrs was when i called to find out why he wasn't out. They sent report card of a very sad dog, 1 picture. On pickup day i called at 11am and they lied to me and said he was brought in to go home at 3, pickup scheduled at 5. I complained and they let him outside for about an hr. He was wet and smelled of urine at pickup. And made sure to make his displeasure known. Brought my dog home today from a week here and saw that in her ziplock bag with her Zyrtec was also a bottle of Prozac prescribed to another dog or cat. When I called, I did receive a call back telling me that she wasn't given this med. However, can you be sure? No. I also think about the dog/ cat that needed that med but didn't get it (Harper Sipe). Poor thing. And was never told to bring the med back for the animal that needed it.I have taken my dog here faithfully for years putting her in the VIP suite. For this mix up to happen is completely unacceptable. This was the one place I felt comfortable taking her but that trust is gone. If you are in doubt of boarding your dog, don't. DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE! One of our Saint Bernards came home injured around her neck and very ill (see photos), requiring a $300+ emergency vet bill after pick up as well as multiple meds and follow ups to get her well. The other, a very social and playful boy who loves people and other dogs was never on the cameras that we checked regularly while away and learned later that he was marked as ALONE as he was "very active". Poor guy spent 5 days in a kennel and only outside for potty alone with an employee. More in a moment, but yes, we complained to the front desk about our experience at this location, then to management, no one called back, the GM was either at lunch, on vacation, or somewhere else. We called repeatedly, sent an e-mail, and tried for weeks to come to a resolution after finally getting a woman named Alexis on the phone who is apparently the GM here. After numerous "we are working with management and corporate" statements and several weeks of that response, we let them know that we needed a resolution (we asked for a refund) yet they have ignored this request. To add insult to injury, literally, the day of pickup (scheduled for 4:30pm), at 1:30pm the bather called to ask us to bring them back during the week for their baths we had scheduled with our reservation as she simply did not have time for our giant breeds that day. We said no, as they'd been boarded and surely smelled like a boarding facility, and it was impossible due to work schedules to get them back there during the week but agreed to a quick bath as a compromise (yet we were still charged $100). How that bather did not see our female Saint's injury and ear infection is beyond us, we can only assume she only sprayed them down and didn't touch them. How any of the staff didn't see her injury or the way she was acting is also beyond us. She cried the entire way home, her infected wound smelled horrible (due to the infection of course) and she wouldn't let us touch her she felt so horrible. Please know, we have used another Pet Paradise facility in Georgia, and they have been wonderful with our Saints, the male often attending the play days (WITH other dogs) they offer, so marking him as ALONE is that much more horrible about this experience at this franchisee of Pet Paradise in Matthews, NC. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! I took my one year old pup in today for a meet and greet. Upon entering there was a foul stench that filled the place. Moving beyond that, there were 3 ladies at the front desk. I explained we were there for the complimentary meet and greet for first time visitors. The young lady that took lead on our check-in process was COLD and RUDE. No social skills to welcome us or even explain what the process would be. When you enter this establishment there's a large window behind the check-in counter where you can see the indoor pups playing. The room had a LARGE amount of feces on the strip turf and urine on the other parts of the floor. I saw a bucket and mop not too far away. There were no dogs playing, why hadn't this been cleaned? At this point, I'm beginning to think this may not be the place to leave my pup. The lead associate came and grabbed his leash from me, put a tag around his neck and walked off with him. No greeting, no acknowledgement of him, just a transactional approach. As she was walking away, I asked, "do I get a tour, a run down of what to expect, anything?! " she said, yea, I'll be back. She came back and all I hear are dogs barking in the background and in my opinion, not playful happy greeting barks. After 15 seconds of her discussing the cat area, in which I disclosed, we do not have cats, she took me to the back. It only took one step in for me to ask for my dog back. No questions were ask, no reservations or reassurance was given by the associate. Just my dog. Not a good first experience and we won't be back. read more

Dogs never go out anymore they sit in their kennel more than going outside. Management needs to figure it out!!!!! Or maybe a new manager? DO NOT RECOMMEND... the staff that I met inside Matthews pet paradise were nice but I have major questions about their dog care. This is one of the most expensive boarding places in the Charlotte area. I've also boarded my dog elsewhere with zero problems. I had higher expectations for pet paradise. I understand it was a major holiday and they were swamped but I picked up my dog after 3 nights and she was absolutely covered in pee. The two toys and t shirt I brought with her were soaking wet. This is a dog that is crate trained and can hold it for 6+ hours when needed. This tells me she wasn't let out side at all!!! And who knows what her "indoor junior suite" looked like. If you are understaffed and over booked STOP taking more animals in. This is unacceptable, my dog should not be SOAKING wet in her own dog pee. The animal shelter takes better care of their animals then this place! On the play area cameras, that I checked periodically, I saw her out only twice. I was told she would be outside for around 3 hours 20-30 minute increments, it doesn't seem like it at all. I dropped of a happy perfectly healthy dog and got the smelliest dog who is also sick with a cold, and needs a vet visit now. - I tried leaving a review on google and realized that for some reason it looks like it's posted on my end but it's not on their official google. read more

Filling out the survey for the care of our dogs they will not let you submit the survey without identifying the "group" you belong to. Absolutely bizarre, and should not be required. There was no communication and serious confusion on what actually happened on our dog's temperament test day. We had to ask them after the dogs were returned and were met with two completely different stories after having to say that the first made no sense considering we called and were told something different. Ultimately we were told two of our dogs didn't pass and the one we were concerned about did. Considering our dogs have never had an issue with temp tests before and have been to many places as we frequently move. I'm concerned with the process they went through. Their groomer did a great job but the lack of communication and the fact they did not contact us with any of the concerns prior to us asking what happened, the complete confusion and then the survey required an age group? Yeah no. Won't be doing that again. Their morning manager seemed nice the couple times we spoke. So possibly we were there with people who didn't know what the heck was happening but we just didn't feel comfortable bringing them back. We didn't plan to post here but that survey really bugged us. Left without boarding 5 hours before my flight. My dogs have been going to pet paradise as long as they've been with me. Since I adopted my senior gal, she's been on chemo pills , and has gone to daycare where they've been administered (I provide gloves and told them the vet said the only thing would be to scoop up poop-which generally happens anyway at boarding facilities). I made a reservation over a month ago for my dogs. Paid a $100 deposit for their reservation. 5 hours before my flight, I arrive at the facility and am told they won't take my senior girl because of the chemo. Which she's been on two years and wasn't a surprise as she's been there before. I understand that policies change. But her medication history is on file, and no one notified me of the change when I made the reservation or when I paid for her deposit. So I was left scrambling 5 hours before I was supposed to leave the country. Thankfully a friend of a friend could watch her because we called dozens of places and everyone was full (of course because Monday was July 4th and everyone was on vacation). I'd always felt they took great care of the dogs. But now I just feel like the lack of communication has really affected my ability to trust the care my pets receive. While I'm glad my other dog could stay I feel like I'm going to have to look for a different arrangement that can accommodate my family. read more

The communication between staff is terrible. We told the front desk over four times that we did not want our dogs paws to be cut on the top of the paws, only underneath. We only wanted a nail trim and trim the hair under the paws. We waited 2 1/2 hours for a nail trim and we had to call because we waited so long. When we called they said he is finishing drying so it'll be 30 minutes, and we said well that's ironic because we didn't pay for a bath. And she said oh you're picking up our dog, and she was like oh hell he's done. Well that would've been nice to know. As we go inside and pick up our dog, his top of his paws were completely shaved off (WHEN THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE SAID NOT TO DO). She offered to give us a refund but ironically we paid in cash and they gave us a credit. We will never be returning here ever again. read more

We picked up two clean, happy, and exhausted pups yesterday afternoon who looked like they had the best time! We put them in a "suite" to stay together; I was very pleased this was an option. I also loved the live webcams in the play areas to check on our babies while we were on our trip! We've always had someone keep our dogs at their home or stay at ours while we were away, and didn't have that option for this trip. I was nervous about leaving them, but without hesitation, will be using Pet Paradise Matthews again in the future...both for day care and an occasional overnight boarding! read more

Under the care of Pet Paradise my dog was neglected and DIED as a result. His medicine was not given to him AT ALL. I have the proof of the written pill dosage that he was meant to receive which was SIGNED by an EMPLOYEE there. This very same employee also lied about giving him his vital medicine on MULTIPLE occasions after being confronted. After receiving all of his belongings back it was found that the exact dosage (in the form of pill capsules) was the same amount we received back meaning NONE of his medication was given to him. read more

It is now apparent as to why. staff was nice, but my dog came home with a bleeding, swollen and injured paw, none of her extra food I packed, and extremely lethargic with no updated or filled out services card when i went to check and see what could have happened... since they did not care to let me know.... no pictures, no video access for her stay (VIP suite)... the whole experience is traumatizing to me and I can only imagine what it is for her... I feel terrible and guilty for leaving her there. we will be going to the vet tomorrow and sending a bill. read more

No paradise to be seen here, the appropriate name would be pet purgatory. I dropped off my dog early in the day for daycare. Upon asking if there was a possibility for a bath I was told that he would be able to have a bath towards the end of the day. I EXPLICITLY and repeatedly said to the front desk staff member "do not cut or groom my dog, please" I asked that no one touch him with scissors or a razor. When I picked my dog up, I was informed that I would need to pay an additional $30 for a grooming/de-shedding and de-matting. No one ever called to ask if that would be authorized, and I had never met this groomer otherwise I would have forgone the service altogether. Jessica (who is apparently the ONLY groomer at this location) informed me that my dog's neck was "covered in matts" which was a complete fabrication. When I informed Jessica that my dog was not "covered in matts" she shrugged her shoulders at winced at me as to say "well you're wrong". Your opinion is yours and mine is mine. But how dare you make a face/roll an eye at a paying customer...I mean, you are after all in the business of caring for the well-being of animals. If you can't treat your customers with respect I can't imagine how you must treat the animals. My dog is a pedigree breed and is groomed monthly by Autumn at Pet in the City who I HIGHLY recommend. Don't waste your time with pet paradise. I didn't need my dog groomed. I only needed him bathed. So why did I pick up my dog to see that half of his collar hair is now gone? Oh, and not to mention she decided he needed an undercarriage shave as well. Hopefully, his bits don't get infected because now all he can do is lick his groin which I'm assuming is very itchy due to the poor quality of what must have been a very rushed grooming. To top it all off the Manager on duty told me there would be no recourse for their mishap. He did inform me that a member of "higher up" would be reaching out but to no avail that has not happened. Am I surprised? No. This place is a total s*** show. My advice to Pet Paradise, perhaps hire another groomer as your current is clearly exceedingly overwhelmed. It would also be in your best interest to keep angry employees in the back of the house. I've sincerely experienced better customer service at a DMV. read more

We have used this camp daily for over 2 years and I have referred over 10 people to this establishment! Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had ! I was on hold to make a reservation for 20 minutes and when they finally took my call a representative named Carmen took my call. I first asked if they had an available room for my dog and she told me YES. She took all my information and that took over 20 minutes. We went over pricing and everything was good , $38 dollars for the room from Saturday till Sunday evening , $10 dollar early drop off fee , and $20 dollars for pick up after noon on Sunday. I confirmed the total which was $68 dollars ! She said yes and I received an email confirming the reservation. Then she hesitated and I ask what's the matter and she told me there wasn't anything available. I asked to speak to her supervisor and I talked to her for another 20 minutes. She called the Pet Paradise that's half a mile from my home. Next thing I know I was actually speaking to the Matthews NC. Store and a woman named Ales talked to me , she said they did have availability and told me because of Memorial Day Holiday there was a 3 Night minimum with a 100 dollar deposit , non refundable ! A 5 dollar up charge. I was a bit upset I told her that the reservation center which is in Florida had made a mistake with there information ! I told her they gave me a firm price and a reservation email. She kinda laughed and talked to me like I was a child. She said take it up with the reservation center and I told her they represented Pet Paradise and she said you will need to call the reservation center. She kept talking over me and wouldn't let me talk. I told her I recorded the whole thing and she laughed ! While I was trying to talk she put me on speaker phone and I heard other employees giggling in the background. Very disappointing ! I would never recommend Pet Paradise to anyone. read more

I am devastated after initially being hopeful at finding a facility to fit our dogs care needs that we were not able to establish connection. The email goes to corporate, which led to some confusing communications in establishing ourselves with the Matthews NC office. We completed the online profile and our vet provided records finding that additional vaccines were required before an appt could be set (and notified that it was a two month wait) for an appt. It took a total of 6 weeks to get booked in for the added vaccines (which had to be done in two parts). Then I call to find that the site does not take calls, only the corporate reservation-- so there is no way to establish a relationship or front-load care needs for our rescue pup. We lost all the weeks and the extra funds for vaccines and the company cannot even let you talk to someone who is on site or that will work with your dog. This was and is a HUGE issue for me! This explains why there are so many other poor reservation experiences. Left hand gets all the info and Right hand is doing the work-- and no one is accountable or connected when all is said and done. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE PRECEDENCE! read more

I've been using Pet Paradise in Matthews for about a year now. They have been wonderful with my two babies. I'm one of those anxious owners who was very nervous leaving my dogs under someone's care. Everyone at Pet Paradise has been so super sweet and accommodating. I love watching them interact on the camera as well. I like knowing that they are safe. The office manager is racist. She thinks she can be an entitled cunt that speaks to people anyway but when I checked her about her nice nasty tone and the b___ played in my face. Made me pay the subscription up, I went to pick up my dog meds and she got me discharged from the practice. So she basically just wanted my money. They don't care about your pets. In the paperwork she detailed our conversation but left out how she provoked me and started talking down to me which cause me to go off on her. She's RUDE. Even when I pulled up to the vet she was outside with someone still running her mouth to me. My dog has been using this location for boarding for the last few years and it is hands down our favorite place. It is one of the few places where I can drop my dog off and he doesn't give me a look of abandonment lol. Jax is a senior dachshund with spine issues and they have made sure to keep him with the older/more calm dogs. I always see him on the camera, happy and hanging out with his little buddies, which leaves me feeling great about taking him there. I also know he has been active because he is always exhausted for several days after I bring him home (you know a dog is tired when someone knocks on the door and he sleeps right through it!). After my initial tour of the facility I was feeling pretty comfortable about leaving my little guy there for the weekend. I had even convinced myself that it would be a good time for him, that he would get to socialize, swim, and play. Sadly, that was not the case. When I picked him up after after a two day stay, his hair was matted, he smelt like urine, and he had no voice left for whining the entire time. At first, I chalked it up to separation anxiety. I took him home, gave him a bath and something to eat but he just didn't seem right. He was groggy and very clingy and when he woke on Monday morning his eye was red and had a thick green ooze coming from it. A visit to the vet confirmed that he had pink eye (conjunctivitis). I don't think there was any socializing, swimming, or playing. I think he lay in his own urine (or got peed on by another dog), got an eye infection, and then cried himself hoarse with no one to comfort him. I am so sad that he had to go through that; he's such a sweet little boy. read more

The Pet Paradise team is always super great with our spunky dog, Anne. She always comes back happy. They always follow any special instructions or requests we make. She can be super friendly but can also be kind of shy and they are great at adapting to her needs. Price point is pretty comparable to the PetSmart but in my opinion, the service and premises are nicer. They have a groomer that does a great job. There is a $5-10 charge during premium times (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc...) and high-volume times require a $100 deposit. You can book online which is always convenient. I always feel better when I have a place I can trust to take good care of my dog and Pet Paradise definitely fits that bill. read more

One said they had an appointment available then the next said they didn't then the third picked the phone up and didn't even know what I was holding for. I absolutely love this Pet Paradise location and staff! Both our boys had never been boarded before and we are very picky about their care. So when I say this place is great, that is definitely a serious statement. This location happens to be a short drive from our house and is very convenient. We made a reservation for a 5 night stay. The reservation was made the night before with no problem. The staff is very transparent with their pricing and are more than willing to perform special requests such as giving medications or dietary request. The day of the reservation, I dropped of our pups and they were very excited to meet new people. I received the link to the Facebook site and the webcams we could use to watch them playing! This is great for folks who are attached to their doggies. We watched them AND other Pups playing on the webcams All week! Upon picking him up, I was given a "pawgress report," a short little report card about his behaviour that made me feel like a proud parent. I love that their kennels include both indoor and outdoor areas so your pups can have both A/C and fresh air. The pool is awesome and seems like the favourite attraction there for dogs. I feel this place would probably been a better option if my dog was spayed. I only seen her on doggy cam once & that was the day of pickup. I literally watched the cams from 630am Saturday until pick up on Monday (drove my husband crazy) Even called Saturday before closing to check on her because I never seen her. I couldn't enjoy being away when I was worried from not seeing her. Then I gave her a bath when we got home because her elbows were red (she's white so it's noticeable) & her paws have red spots. Made a reservation for the first time, everything went smoothly. Sadly, a family emergency came up and our vacation was cancelled. I was able to cancel my dog's reservation online easily and over 7 days before the reservation - meaning I would get a full refund. I did this on a Friday afternoon and figured the refund may not show up until Monday. I tried calling Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to make sure but could not get through. I tried calling at different times thinking maybe they were just busy. When the refund didn't show up Monday, I kept trying to call. I also sent an email explaining my situation. I was on hold for over 30 minutes each time and got no email response, so I had to go into the store on Tuesday and ask, and then my refund was given to me. This makes me hesitant to book them again because if my dog was there I probably couldn't have gotten through to them on the phone, and also makes me wonder why my refund was not issued until I physically went into the store. We we're trying to sell our house and wanted to find a doggie daycare close to the house where the pups could play and not be stuck in the car with me while the house was showing. We learned about Pet. Paradise and went for a tour. From the moment we walked in I was impressed. We brought both dogs over for a visit which was at no cost just to see if they liked it. My younger dog hasn't been very socialized with other dogs. Well they loved it! One even went swimming and was playing with the others by the 2nd visit! Love the staff!
