I went here while back pick up new leash for shio because old one cause rope burns for my hands and new one shio likes and gets super excited. He also likes his new collars because makes him stylish, but he told me he wanted that one to the work tie one I couldn't find it. I noted they had goat milk I had dreams to turn into shio ice cream. However, shio says if I behave I should rethink my ways. Store clerk was very helpful to my dad and I, on times I went with and without shio. Shio prefers to get snacks, outfits but one he wanted to get was goggles, not sure if they had online order means. If they had kiosk means at store would help them I think if sold out. My big ask: r motion fish toys for dogs, and intelligent toys have speaking means? bird toy for dogs? Strawberry squeaker? Petfun you can find toys, leashes, collars and treats, dog foods, but also shampoos and small pets and I did see wide variety means as well. I was thinking I could get fish and tank. Its very helpful and quiet. Also, I went to Walmart and other places previous for leashes all them had nylon rough materials which had material and leashes were too short and mostly chain. Leashes are longer and aren't the crazy device that cause your dog distress. read more

I haven't purchased anything here yet but I did go to scope it out. I'm getting back into aquariums and this seemed like a local pet store that had a good selection of fish. I will say they do and when I was there they had two staff members in the back at the tanks so there was no wait for the family that did purchase fish from them. The fish look healthy and a guy I work with has been getting fish from here and they all have survived and haven't introduced any sickness to his tanks. The prices are on the upper end of reasonable for the fish. Definitely will still drive all the way out there price range. They are limited on equipment but to be fair that's all mom and pop pet stores it's hard to clear profit on some items with distributors of these products. As far as the non fish stuff, they seem to have a lot of variety. I plan on going back for plants and fish and I'll update on how that goes. The only thing I think they could have done better is had the staff on the floor more engaged with people looking around. As lame as it sounds it makes them feel more a part of the community when they engage especially when compared to a box store. But still overall I think it's worth going to for fish and my coworker certainly agrees as it's where he shops for fish. read more

Always loved running through this small private owned pet shop as a kid. Wandering back in 10 years later and it's changed a bit, but some of my favorite elements are still here! We used to love standing around the koi pond and watching them swim around. Their assortment of both fresh water and salt water creatures is so fun to see! WORST BUSINESS PRACTICES ever. So I returned the dog diapers, and I have to answer all these questions of why I'm returning them. I told her the diapers do not stay on, here's my receipt, my cc I used, and the diapers (only one missing). She proceeds to deduct the one diaper from my total. I'm like that's not even on the receipt to do that. She said she would call the supervisor The supervisor was lovely, but if that's the store policy, she couldn't do anything about it. She could not even show me the written policy anywhere w/in the store when asked. Went in yesterday evening trying to find another dog food to give my Frenchie. I was overwhelmed by the selection since my dog has skin allergies. Aki guided me in a selection of dog food that would best suit my dog. He informed me if my dog doesn't like the food I can bring back with store receipt. As I approached the front I was greeted by the cashier Omar. He also informed me about a program for the dog food. He made some small talk with me and I appreciate it. We sometimes forget how important it is to make a connection with people, even a simple hello goes along way. Both these gentlemen were awesome in providing great customer service. Employees were extremely helpful and friendly when I called to ask about bird cages, and even more so when I came in to pick one up! Their cages were excellent price, and Joshua helped me get the cage measurements so it was perfect for my bird. I 100% recommend for any bird-cage needs. They also have an excellent assortment of live fish, fish keeping equipment, and aquarium! Their fish seem well taken care of - their Koi are even in a pond-like setting. This place is overall super, with one or two minor things off. They have a great selection of high end and super high end pet food, stuff you can't normally find anywhere. Brands like Victor and Diamond are fully stocked with a large variety, which is perfect for our working K9s. The staff are marginally knowledgeable about the products, but really very helpful as much as possible. And they are really happy to special order anything you can't find on their very nicely stocked shelves. And on top of all that, the prices are really awesome. Join their club thing, it's really worth it. We have 2 working K9 GSD, one retired K9, and two pet GSD. So keeping this lot properly fed, with all the varied dietary needs can run quite a bit. Shopping at PetFun makes it fit in the budget nicely. We drive over 30 minutes to get what we want here, because they even beat the online pricing. And the staff are super friendly, so the trip is worth it. read more

I would definitely come back here. Right when you walk on you are greeted. I live in Gilroy and was looking for places in San Jose all the way down to Salinas for places that have fish. The reviews were great and it looked like they had a good selection. When we walked in you hear the birds so of course my daughter wanted to check them out. They have alot of products that Most places do not carry. I have gone to Petco and Petsmart for fish, but at Petco they don't really know what fish are aggressive and have told me, oh these will be fine.... just to have my fish eaten by other fish. We went to the back to look at the fish area and of course my daughter says "ohhhhhh I want a dory fish. Oh look it's nemo" haha. I explain to her that we cant because they are freshwater fish. The employee there greets is and asks if we need any help. I tell him about our aggressive fish that ate our others. He asked what it was so I pulled it up on the internet showing him. So I asked him what other fish I could put with him. He showed me different options. I have a second tank and got a bunch of fish for the second tank also. I loved how they had a lot of options for different kinds of fish and plants. They didn't have a bunch if dead fish floating around like other pet stores. They keep their tanks clean. My boyfriend and I went to Pet Fun for the first time today. I read reviews and was even referred to them by a few locals, I have driven by and it felt like a cozy place - so we were really looking forward to going in! We just moved here mid-June and tragically lost our 7 year old Fire Oscar just before we got to bring him with us. To cheer me up, my boyfriend suggested we finally check this place out and he would put together a whole new tank set up for me to start fresh with something new. The place seemed well-stocked, and being an animal behaviorist I was making note of what they had in order to eventually HOPEFULLY refer them to my large client base. But after today, I don't think I will be. My reason for the one-star is for the employees and their treatment of their customers. We were rushed by the fish room employee asking if we needed help. We very politely said "No thank you, we're just looking. But we'll let you know." He stormed off back into the fish room. When we walked in to look around, he started running in between my boyfriend and I. Shoving past me, stepping on my foot and pushing past my boyfriend to get to the other side of him. He wasn't doing anything with the tanks, and wasn't helping anybody else. Just getting in our way and standing on us. He did this two more times, circling us and standing RIGHT on top of me, stepping on the backs of my shoes! This is not ok - personal space? My boyfriend told him to please stop circling us, because he was pushing us around this very tiny space, orbiting us, and stepping all over me! He ran out of the aisle, said something to some other customers standing around the corner, to which they all laughed at. And then he went to the other cashiers and started talking to them and they all started glaring at us! What were we going to do? Steal a fish? We were trying to heal some grief! Feeling extremely uncomfortable and Unwelcome, we left the fish room - where the same employee got in our way once again, blocking us! We promptly put the one item we had back - choosing to not spend anything here! We walked out and did get a "have a nice day" from the woman up front. But after the treatment by the kids in the back, my day has not been that great after. I will continue to search for a nice small pet store to spend my money and refer all my animal clients to. I've been buying fish from Petsmart and most of them died...an angelfish, an African dwarf frog and two neon tetras :(. One ADF made it though. Every one I got from Petfun are all still alive which includes another Cute ADF, cute little black one, a black phantom tetra, a bleeding heart tetra, a red finned tetra and a gold tetra (not sure what he's called but he has gold shimmers, very pretty). They even do returns if a fish is nippy. I also just got an angelfish that they let me call and request a special order because I wanted a platinum white one, it's beautiful and doing great so far! Strongly recommend this place for buying pets! The pet supplies are a bit pricey but my experience with this place seems to have better quality and better customer service. read more

Honestly, speak to an employee!!! They're supper helpful and informed! I was going to buy my dog aspirin for my dog and Kristine spoke to me about giving her CBD oil it has no side affects like aspirin does and she Informed me that it was actually harming one of the pets she knew was becoming ill from the aspirin they sold and the pet was dying. So the manager took that medicine out of the shelves!! Such a nice and considerate company. Not only that but she helped me more than my vet has with feeding my dog now I no longer worry if she's missing any critical vitamins! After spending some time in the store, I asked if I could use the restroom and was told, No public restrooms. Due to medication I take it was an emergency. On my first visit here a couple months ago, I asked about recommendations for switching my dog's food. I had done some research, but the woman kindly steered me in another direction. The woman seemed knowledgeable and recommended a food I hadn't heard of, but she swore by it. I tried it for a couple months and my dog didn't seem thrilled. Then come to find out, this is the ONLY store around that sells this particular food. I had specifically asked for something that was more readily available... Last week, I went in to get recommendations on a specific brand, after doing much more extensive research. The woman, a different one, was kind of rude right off the bat. I asked about the particular brand and she asked what I was feeding now. I then got lectured about trying all the options in my current brand. She then went on to provide her very strong bias towards a raw diet and the fact that my vet doesn't know what she's talking about. Well, I didn't ask about a raw diet. I asked about a specific brand. I didn't ask to get a rude, biased lecture about why I shouldn't choose this new brand, when her only back-up was that I should try other options in my current brand. The entire experience rubbed me the wrong way. I don't appreciate being recommended a food that they know they are the only local store that sells it - when I specifically asked for something readily available. I will not be going back. Two stars because of the selection of supplies. But the staff are a total and complete turn off. They won't be getting any more of my business. read more

I went to the store this morning right when it opened for crickets. I went back to where the fish tanks are and noticed it was taped off and had a sign stating "if you need assistance please ask for help." I went back to the front of the store and asked I believe the manager if they had crickets. She was not doing anything at the time and there was another person working the cash register. She stated that they had them but she didn't have someone working the fish area until 11. I could not believe that she wouldn't help me. Does she not know how to count?
