They also don't accept any payment except for cash, and get very angry when you ask how much your total is over the phone (how else am i supposed to know how much cash to carry)? It would probably be easier if their prices were consistently the same for the same services, but they're not and were different with each appointment even though they did the same service every time. When you ask why, they go on a huge rant about how much work they do, which I totally understand. I also understand they prices rise and fall, but everytime? I've never had that happen at a grooming salon and just needed some clarification. Somehow asking over the phone about why the price was higher (not $5 but more like $15) meant that i was unhappy with their service, which was not the case. If you can deal with attitude and misunderstandings on their part, this is the place to go since they DO do a good job, but remember, they don't do large dogs anymore. In the end, its all about the service rendered. 5 stars for how awesome the groom was previously, 2 stars for the ridiculousness of the ever changing prices. I hope its gotten better!

She doesn't like loud noises to include electric razors and blow dryers. I have tried to groom them myself but keeping them still is definitely not easy. Finding someone to groom a 50 lb dog is also not easy! I decided to try Ali's at home dog grooming service because it's super convenient (located here in Lorton) and she works one dog at a time, reducing the stress the dogs feel about being in a strange, loud place. I made an appointment for the big dog as a test run. I can't do her myself. It was easy to make an appointment. Drop off was convenient. Ali was super friendly and the dog was super happy. She's a good judge of character. I came back about 2 hours later to a clean and adorable and still happy dog. Brought her home and all agreed that Ali had done a great job. Loved the grooming report I received on the experience, including the attached picture s. Made the appointment for the little dog and had an even better experience. I highly recommend the Paw Wash!

Danielle is friendly and reliable and most of all - she does a great job. We always go with a short cut on our Maltese for ease of maintenance and Danielle's cuts are very consistent. Our dog always looks the same, which is a big positive in my book. Other groomers have delivered inconsistent looks when we simply wanted the same haircut. The convenience of the mobile service is hard to beat too. It's a little more expensive than service at a brick and mortar building, but it's worth it in my opinion. You won't regret going with this business for your furry friend's grooming needs. Highly recommended. ***In the post-grooming photo of my pup, he'd had a recent vet procedure that resulted in a stitch in his forehead and a partially shaved right leg. I know my dog had some mats in some areas because I spend over an hour brushing her every night and 24 hours later she gets new mats, but thinking about it now, there is no way she couldn't get 1/4 cut and needed 1/8 instead. It was pure laziness and BS they tried to feed me. The cut was also uneven all over and I had to fix it when she got home. She also doesn't smell like she just got groomed. She smells like a pet store. Additionally, I was quoted $120 on the phone and charged $135 plus an additional $10 for de-matting. What and where exactly did the de-matting occur when she was shaved all the way down and all over except for her head and tail? Talk about ambiguous pricing and hidden charges. Saddest part was that we had to pay before we got the dog so naturally, we tipped 20% but had I seen my dog first I would not have tipped a single penny. For nearby groomers, Barksuds is so much better! I couldn't get an appointment in time and desperately needed a groom which is why I settled for this place knowing they didn't have really good reviews, but wow, I can't believe they think this is "looking pawesome and feeling fabulous. Very convenient option for grooming, socialized daycare, and boarding. Yes, it is expensive, but…read morethese days you get what you pay for. I have been using this location for 1 medium and 1 large dog for about a year and a half now. It's easy to write a good review when everything goes as expected, but it's even more impressive when I feel the need to do so after things don't. But I'll get to that... Location has 3 dog rooms for open play based on sizes. This allows your pup to feel more comfortable around the other dogs. They do require a temperament test before allowing your pup to open enroll in daycare/boarding. When your dog is here you can view them on the cameras either on their website, or even better on your phone using their app. At night they are crated. When boarding you can drop off your own food, or they can provide food for an extra fee. Make sure to check out the calendar of events. Periodically they will have themed picture days and your dog's picture will be taken during daycare. Our favorite so far has been the Hawaiian vacation pictures. The grooming option here is too convenient. I can drop my dog off for daycare all day on a workday, and just schedule a grooming for anytime during the day and at the end of the day I pick up a tired, clean dog. I also love to schedule grooming for the last day when I board my dogs. That way when they get picked up they smell/feel clean, not like other dogs. Our dogs don't require a cuts/trims, so I can't speak to that aspect of grooming. Now for the real testament of their service... over a weeklong holiday boarding, our large dog was bitten by another dog during daycare. We were on the other side of the country, so we had to rely on them handling everything while we were remote. Dogtopia called me as often as necessary to keep me informed; they emailed me pictures of the injury; they took him to the vet; they kept him separated in his own room until his wound improved and gave him TLC & medical treatment ... even allowing our other dog to visit; and they indulged my many questions about the incident and corrective actions. Obviously you can never be 100% sure another dog won't bite, until they do, but I was impressed by the investigation of the incident and felt very reassured that it would not happen again based on the actions Dogtopia chose to take. They obviously took this incident seriously and care very much for the welfare of the dogs entrusted to them. I would highly recommend Dogtopia if you can afford it. I'm continuing to use them with confidence.

I stumbled upon this place after visiting family. Normally we take our dog to Pet Supplies Plus…read morebecause we enjoy washing our dog ourselves. But since our dog had a butt mishap (aka we tried to trim his butt at home) we thought he needed some professional help. We called this place and got an appointment the next day. If you are new they require rabies documentation for your first visit. During the phone call, they just ask general questions on your dog's name, weight, your info, and times you can come in. In addition, they are very upfront with their fees. We told them our dog weight/breed so the receptionist gave us a range so we knew what to expect. I believe they give a range because until they see the dog, they won't know what extra things might need to be done. The day of the visit, we felt very welcomed and seeing all the dogs in the back and in the front waiting area gave our mind ease. Our dog is quite shy and a scaredy cat (except at the dog park, go figure lol). Upon checking in, one of the groomers came out saw his butt and knew he needed to be saved from a haircut got wrong. Although shy, as soon as we let him behind the gate with the groomer, he was quite willing to follow them...but very slow. They gave him a little butt trim and a very good wash that including nail trimming which took roughly 3-4 hours. When picked up he smelled so good, looked extremely happy and calm, and had the cutest bandana on him. The price we paid was less than what we were quoted on which was awesome. But this is probably because he didn't need much of a cut. We definitely plan to use this place in the future as all staff was very kind, all the dogs we saw in the establishment (including ours) were quite calm/happy/excited. The price is reasonable and I like that you can get quoted where they give you a range from the cheapest it could be to the most expensive.

Yesterday, I called in to ask if the food I had ordered for my foster dog had come in. The conversation I had with the manager went downhill fast. He told me that what I was saying couldn't be true, since they don't text for special orders. He told me that they didn't carry the food I was talking about. I didn't know the exact name and I was driving. This was the second time I had tried to special order the food. Both times no one called or texted to let me know if had come in. Last time the food was in the shelf and they told me it was out there inadvertently. They did another order for me. A lovely team member helped me. So I knew the food was carried by the store. I was frustrated and told him that I had a picture of it and they definitely carried the food since I had bought it there before. I said I was coming over there, since I needed it. I got there and a staff member I'd never seen had some of the food up front. I had looked on the shelf and what I needed was there too, so the Purina One is carried in the store. Regardless, I asked to speak with the manager I talked with on the phone. I still don't know what happened. But the end result was an argument in front of at least 8 customers, where the manager basically told me it was my fault. That his team member had done the order wrong. They never did find my order request. They also told me that from now on I needed to pay ahead of time. He grabbed a handwritten note from the regional manager and slammed it in the counter. I still have no idea how the conversation degenerated into a store manager yelling and berating me. I told him you're yelling at me. He said, if I was yelling at you would know it lady. I was in tears by the time I reached the parking lot. He yelled at me. Wow... To top it off, because others had seen the argument and didn't know the context, another customer stopped in the parking lot just so he could call me a Bitch... I am heartbroken. This has been my go to store for years. I foster, rescue, transport and work with at risk dogs and other animals. Before yesterday, I couldn't have said enough about the store and the staff. I've recommended and talked about the store frequently. I will never come there again. Being humiliated and talked to that way was one time too many.
