Restaurante Estrada is A+ in my book! Wow, this place has the most amazing GARLCI PULPO.. (Octopus). The entire fried fish is incredible. And before you order LUAN takes you to the back and opens the cooler for you to pick your fish, that was caught that day. You can choose grilled or fried. They bring you chips accompanied with some cool medium spicy habanero/cilantro sauce, and a cream cheese sauce that you mix together w/ pickled onions. The combo is perfection. This is a little locals, place so reasonably priced and family run. You will not be disappointed in the food and the price. The only advice I would offer would be to add more floor fans, the ceiling fans do next to nothing and it was too hot for me, I ended up getting my food to go. AMAZING food! My friends and I were craving for seafood and we found this whole in the wall! It's a family owned restaurant in the city of Tulum. The food was DEELISH. The serving was huge. I would recommend getting the grilled fish fillet w/ garlic, grilled octopus w/ fried garlic, grilled fish (they give you a WHOLE fish), breaded shrimp, shrimp cocktail, and of course the ceviche!!! A little disclaimer: - Please be patient when you order and wait for your food as it's made to order. We saw them take the fish and cook it. Trust me, its worth the wait. - This restaurant is their house, they coverted the front of the house to a seating area. So its kinda hard to find. If you see Restaurante Chamicos Tulum, youre there! Also, since they made the front of the house the seating are for the restaurant, there is no air circulation. They had a few ceiling fans, but It was very hot. So i'd recommend bringing a fan or be prepared to sweat. The food and the people made it worth it! We will definitely come back to this place! Oh, did I mention that the food was cheap? When you visit Tulum the abundance of restaurants and food places is overwhelming. Lots of them looks like a very good spot to go and they usually are but if you want to try amazing seafood straight from the ocean to your plate, then Estrada is a must. Its little bit laid back and hidden from the main busy street but every map app should easily get you there. Place is small and expect to wait for the fish or lobster to be cooked about 20-30 minutes but its really worth it. Service there is great, I just wish the selection of beers to be a little bit wider. For two of us we ordered Guacamole, Whole grilled lobster and whole grilled fish (for the fish you can choose fried, grilled or breaded fillets). The seafood is actually being presented to you before cooking which is awesome. Every dish is served with sauces (garlic is a must). rice and fried beans. You also get fresh warm Tortilla so you can make your own tacos with your seafood :)). The food was great, fish was amazing and we left the place full and happy. In Tulum for vacation and after going cenote hunting all day we we're starving. I was craving a fried fish and came across Restaurante Estrada. It's a hole in the wall, but the food was amazing. Our server Alex was very attentive and helpful. I cannot express how delicious the food was, the fried fish was a hit, tender on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. We also had the grilled octopus and camarones aguachile which were just delightful. The aguachile weren't as spicy as I would like them but the flavor was outstanding. This small family run restaurant is run out of what seems to be a house converted into a restaurant. The food is amazing. We had the mixed ceviche which was fresh and flavorful: the octopus was tender and the shrimps were sweet and fresh. We also had the fried fish which is typically not my preferred method but this was done nearly perfectly: the meat was sweet, the skin was crunchy, and I almost ate the entire fish-bones and all. But the star of the show was the octopus. It was tender and swimming in a nice salsa sauce with nice smoke imparted from the grill. This was a really excellent experience aided by the fact that our server was patient and eh, astonishingly good looking. read more

It's not fancy looking, but we had one of the best dinners we've ever eaten at Estrada. We were hoping to have lobster, but they didn't catch any that day so we "settled" for the pescado frito. They asked me to come in the back to choose my fish and opened up a cooler with several snook in it. We chose one and moments later, we heard it hit the fryer. Not long after that, they brought out the whole fish on a platter, fried to perfection. It was a 5-6 lb snook and they were surprised we ate the whole damn thing. It was too much food, but we couldn't let any of it go. Absolutely spectacular. Then they brought the bill... including several beers for me and a couple of mezcal's for my wife, it was $770 mx! I asked them to double check because it was too little (we expected $700mx worth of drinks!), but they promised it was right. We'd pay $150 US for that meal in the states. Luan was our waiter, though everyone chipped in on keeping us thrilled. Luan was super kind (our Spanish is pretty spotty) and went above and beyond to help us. The owner checked in, too, and told us how they catch the fish and choose the menu based solely on what his brother caught that very day. I showed some fish pictures of big halibut I've caught on the oregon coast and Luan asked to take my phone to the back to show off the pictures! An incredible meal served by some delightful folks. We'll come back to Tulum just for Estrada! read more
