Not the best octopus. Put your money on the fish.
Stephanie S.

This restaurant is probably the most decent food we had in Tulum. You actually get quality fish here. And the flavor is good. It's quite popular according to reviews and it's one of the only restaurants we went to that always had some customers. We went to eat there twice for dinner. Fish was always good. Guac was nice too. The octopus looks better than it tastes -- I don't think it's fresh octopus, probably frozen. I wouldn't order it ever again. But fish and guac, yes, I will.

Super friendly service, fresh and delicious seafood! Our cocktails were also fantastic. This local establishment is definitely a seafood staple in Tulum. Highly recommend!

Fish and shrimp tacos with chips and Modela beer

I was looking for fresh seafood tacos for lunch on Christmas Day. My taxi driver found this charming restaurant was open. I had excellent huge fish and shrimp tacos with a few beers. This restaurant also has a full bar. A couple of folks came and played music. The staff was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with anything you needed. They even helped me with a bottle of red wine for my hotel room so I didn't have to stop anywhere else with my taxi driver on my way to the hotel. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Tulum. You won't be disappointed.

Stumble upon this incredible Mexican Seafood Restaurant. I must say this was a pleasant surprise. The food was amazing and service was exceptional. Must try when you're in Tulum!

Octopus + shrimp tacos

Came here twice during our 5 night stay in Tulum. Food service was a little slow on the first visit but not nearly as long a wait on the second. When the food comes you forget about the wait anyway as everything was delish. First night we ordered a fried fish + agua chile. Second time was grilled octopus + shrimp tacos. Food was fresh & flavourful.

My wife and the fish filet meal, so fresh and so good!

So good. Had the ceviche mixto and octopus with garlic. Best octopus I've ever had. Ceviche was delicious as well. Prices were fair as well.

The best food I've had in Tulum two years in a row! Simply amazing!…read more Wow - I thought maybe I just remembered last year through rose-colored glasses - no, this place is magnificent. First, the vibe is basically perfect. Feels exotic, is clean, the staff is fun, and the live music is the finishing touch. Second, without a doubt the best food we had in Tulum during our week there this year, and my week there last year. House Salad - I never knew I needed goat cheese ice cream on a salad but I'm telling you it was AMAZING! My girlfriend had the Octopus in marinade. She gets the Octopus everywhere we go. It was very tasty and not overcooked like is often the case. I had the Catch of the Day, Sea Bass. I have the fish of the day everywhere I go (live in St Petersburg, Florida, so I'm a seafood junky). It was, again, like last year the best fish dinner entree I had in Tulum. That's between about 12 different places I've eaten at in Tulum spanning the poshest hotel zone restaurants to the most reviewed and highly rated places in Centro in town. It was mouth-wateringly good and flawlessly prepared. I highly suggest trying the Mexican Tea cocktail - a refreshing, but not overly sweet, well-balanced drink that I loved and my girlfriend switched to despite it not being anything like what she would normally order. Last - I worked in restaurants starting at 15 through my late 20's including the most upscale place in the entire city. I got good enough to find gigs helping train staff during new openings. The service we received was remarkable, yet causal and fun. Commendable and appreciated.

Rosa…read moreNegra gives you that feeling of "I'm meant to be here, living my best luxurious, fun life!" At any moment, the music stops, the waiters and waitresses come out with sparklers, and next thing you know, you're standing on the table having the time of your life! I truly believe everyone should experience Rosa Negra at least once! You feel so alive, surrounded by people who just want to have fun, enjoy themselves, and live in the moment. No judgment, just good energy and amazing vibes! And yes, the food is really good too! But for me, it's the MUSIC, the excitement of STANDING ON THE TABLES WITH SPARKLERS, and the amazing energy from the waiters and waitresses that keep me coming back! It's more than just dinner, it's an EXPERIENCE! Absolutely love this place!

Make sure to make a reservation in advance, especially for Thursday through the weekend. We visited at 8:30 and we felt like it was the perfect time because a lot of the performances began around nine. The service is top-notch. From putting the napkin in your lap to arranging a miniature coat rack to hang your jacket, they pay attention to detail. Not to mention, though the atmosphere takes priority here, the food was also very good. We ordered a steak and the shrimp risotto. The shrimp were colossal. I have never seen shrimp so big. Most of their specialty cocktails are quite acidic and that night I was craving whiskey so I ordered an old-fashioned and it was also very good. I would say this spot in particular is well known for big groups and bachelorette dinners. It is quite loud, so keep that in mind. It's also in line with other nice restaurants in Tulum regarding price, but we felt it was worth it. Lastly, make a note that they charge for water so you're not surprised when you get the bill.

During our travels to Tulum we decided to check out all of the major fine-dining establishments and…read moreARCA was one of the top-recommended options we received. Sitting next to Hartwood (another excellent establishment) in the busy downtown section of Tulum's hotel zone the restaurant is a beautiful indoor / outdoor set-up with plenty of space, seats and airy aesthetics. Like many similar restaurants they incorporate lots of wood elements and despite the high number of mosquitoes and bugs they try their best to deal with the swarms of insects by spraying incense and adding fans. In October, during the low and rainy season, it was quite empty (only 3-4 other tables besides us) though the stifling heat and humidity, was probably a large driver of that. They offer three seatings at 5:30, 7:00 (maybe 7:30?) and 9:00PM so we chose the earlier one while it was still bright. The food is creative, delicious and small portions (as you'd expect from a fine-dining establishment) and I appreciate that they offer to add or split items depending on your party's needs. For example, one of our members is a vegetarian so they offered to make one of the crab tacos (they come in pairs of two) vegan for us and at a lower rate. My personal favorite item was the crab esquite, which was like a mix of a corn salad and crab meat which was both filling and delicious. Other items like the crudo were fun and tasty, though portions were very small. Our waiter recommended that we each order at least 2 dishes (we ended up with ~9) for a proper meal as it's tapas-style. Towards the end of the meal as it was getting dark all of the power shut off. Unfortunately it seems like it's a somewhat regular occurrence; while at first I was understanding given the area seemed to have been impacted we noticed that all of the other restaurants seemed to have power and it was just ARCA that was without. It made going to the bathroom challenging given the pitch-black nature of the jungle around 8PM and the candles weren't enough to see much. Their backup generator also seemed to go out multiple times so I hope they improve their infrastructure going forward.

The ceviche and fried fish looked good, although we didn't order. Great complimentary tortilla chips - comes with pico, couple salsas (one spicy, one not), white sauce, limes, and chopped jalapenos (also to be used with your food). Started with fries for the table, which were very crispy, and flaky on the inside. As for entrees, Consensus was the fish tacos (especially diablo) were very tender and tasty. The octopus tacos came with good portions, but pieces of octopus weren't very bite sized (not a problem). Shrimp tacos were very buttery. Got the skirt steak (comes with medium sized enchiladas, small portion of rice and bean), which was also alright - tender but not juicy. Also got the hamburger, which was definitely skippable - seemed like ground chicken. Total for 6 people was about $100 (USD), which was very fair. Friendly and fast service. General consensus is to get seafood items.
