We love coming to La Estrada and make it a point to visit every time we're in Tulum. This is our third year returning, and it never disappoints. We went on a Saturday night and it was pleasantly relaxed, which made the whole experience even better. Alex took amazing care of us. He was attentive, kind, and always one step ahead, bringing things before we even had to ask. He also shared great insight about the restaurant and its background, which we really appreciated. The food was as delicious as ever. We always order the grilled octopus and it's a must every time, perfectly tender and full of flavor. This time we also tried a small shrimp ceviche that had a great balance of acidity and spice. We finished with the grilled fish, which was soft, fresh, and really tasty. I skipped the margarita this time, but they are also one of my favorite things to get here. We will definitely keep coming back. read more

We were craving some local seafood and found this place off the main touristy area of Tulum. The seafood was fresh and cooked really well. I thought the fish was a little over-fried but my husband liked it that way. The grilled octopus was not overcooked, but in fact very tender, and cooked with this red sauce that made it very juicy. These were their two recommended dishes and I'm glad we got to try them. Just be careful with the water here (like any place in Mexico). This restaurant is probably the most decent food we had in Tulum. You actually get quality fish here. And the flavor is good. It's quite popular according to reviews and it's one of the only restaurants we went to that always had some customers. We went to eat there twice for dinner. Fish was always good. Guac was nice too. I was looking for fresh seafood tacos for lunch on Christmas Day. My taxi driver found this charming restaurant was open. I had excellent huge fish and shrimp tacos with a few beers. This restaurant also has a full bar. A couple of folks came and played music. The staff was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with anything you needed. They even helped me with a bottle of red wine for my hotel room so I didn't have to stop anywhere else with my taxi driver on my way to the hotel. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Tulum. This place is incredible! First off, our server spoke English, Spanish, and French to best accommodate guests. I told him I have a shellfish allergy, and was expecting to not be able to eat. He told me they will cook it in a separate area, and they were so considerate with my food. I then asked what the best fried fish was, and he said "let me check with the fisherman what we have" and I turned around and there was a truck loaded with fresh fish and lobsters that they were bringing in by the case. Absolutely have to go to Estrada and get the whole grilled Octopus and Whole fried fish, both were perfectly cooked well seasoned and come with white rice, black beans and a bunch of hot fresh tortillas. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly and when we told them we liked spicy hot sauce they brought us 2 Habanero lime sauces they had just made for us! This place is amazing, don't miss it. I'd you like grilled seafood this place is hard to beat. The service was really great, there were no seats when we arrived but the waiter (possibly owner or manager?) offered us to sit at the bar and have a drink or look over the menu until one became available. We got the grilled shrimp and the grilled octopus. Both were really good! The garlic they put on it takes it over the top. Also the white garlic sauce they put on your table is really tasty especially with the veggies. Everything was cooked really nicely and the portions were bigger than expected. We got the small mixed ceviche - a mix of shrimp and octopus. The small is a big portion! We also got the fried octopus with garlic - holy smokes. This was delicious and soooooo tender and meaty. HIGHlY recommend. AND we got the lobster (the small size - 750 pesos). It came with garlic butter to toss on top and it was definitely tasty. All the seafood was fresh and tender!
