La Negra Tomasa is an absolute must in Tulum. It's away from the hotels in the heart of the city and even locals rave about this place. Tulum has an amazing seafood culture but LNT takes flavors and creativity to the next level for an awesome vibe, great service and amazing fresh seafood. Go.

If you are wanting to lave the hotel zone and the exorbitant price gouging, there are many good eats in el Centro de Tulum. I ordered a salmon ceviche tostada from La Negra Tomas and it was so fresh and filling- much better than the hotel ceviche from the night before. Two meals and 2 non-alcoholic drinks for less than $25! One might argue that the cost of a taxi equals out the cost, but if you are here to experience the culture- there are other modes of transportation

You want big portions fresh seafood and affordable prices just ditch the hotel zone and come here. Had the mixed raw and steamed shrimp ceviche for 18$ and it fed both me and my 6'5 gym bro bf! Next door is a coconut water shop and across the street is a kava bar! Definitely come here

Fucking cute spot in the city, food was so good we had to come back a couple days later bc I couldn't STOP thinking about that Salas they served with the oyster and clams (almejas) chocolata perfect with a ice cold Bohemia I want to bathe in that salsa! We got the Aguachile Mamalón too and so good, salsa verde with just the right amount of heat and so much depth. Shrimp, octopus & Scallops were decent size too (like a U-15), oh and can't forget the guacamole con chapulines (roasted grasshoppers) our server Dana was super nice! Second night we wanted to try a few different things so we got a couple of tostadas and a Caldo de Mariscos. They were both ok, the tostadas depending what you get was drowned in liquid so if you don't eat it in 90sec you'll have soggy mess. ** pro tip ** they serve these little cups of punchy shrimp soup as an amuse bouche, ask for a few and dump it into ur caldo

This place is amazing! Food is delicious with down to earth prices (in the middle of trendy overpriced and underwhelming competitors) Service was so friendly and the patio set up invites you to disconnect and live the moment. We also saw a typical Mayan fire dance. Very impressive.

This restaurant lives up to the hype . Service was exceptional, live music was awesome. The tostadas are absolutely fantastic . We came back a second time . Got the guacamole with grasshoppers. Definitely a great idea. They taste like chicken . La torresona gives you a bit of a show The tostada with tuna and the black sauce was the best plate imo. Cantarito was the best

The tuna tacos were incredible! Sushi tower was great as well. Enjoyed the tuna in the sushi tower the best. Everything here was amazing. Live music, great ambience, & a must see. You are missing out if you don't have a meal here! Service was also amazing. As soon as we ordered the food was delivered. So fresh & tasty!

Salmon Tostada, Shrimp Aguachile (Pina), Pulpo Taco

What a vibe, what an absolute vibe! Dining in at this restaurant truly made my entire trip! Upon walking in, I was greeted by warm and welcoming customer service and seated promptly. They also made sure that the fans were on, to keep the air flowing as it was a hot day. My waiter (Yisus) was also on point! He was very tentative to all of his tables, making sure that they had what they needed. He did not miss a beat! Yisus was also great with recommending delicious dishes. I ordered the pulpo taco, shrimp aguachile (piña) currd in pineapple, and a salmon tostone. While I waited on the dishes, I snacked on totopes (tortilla chips), with a delicious medley of salsas to choose from (spicy, savory, mild). The food came out in no time! The pulpo taco was nice and juicy and loaded with flavor. The fresh toppings and delicious sauce made it all the more appetizing! The shrimp aguachile was both bold and flavorful. I could taste the pineapple and other flavor elements, fresh lime essence encompassed each bite! I was not able to try the salmon tostada, as I was too full and packed it to go. I am excited to enjoy it later on! The cherry on top was listening to the merengue band play as the evening started. Pure soul and rhythm!!! Cheers to good eats!

Writing some reviews on yelp to help these places get the attention they deserve (although part of me selfishly wants to keep these a secret). This place tastes as good as it feels! The vibes are great with its intimate but lively interior courtyard space. Stumbled across this randomly walking on this street upon arrival to MX, so happy this was my first place! First of all, their appetizer chips + fish juice + lime shooter thing is AMAZING. SOOOOO good I can't believe it's not the norm everywhere. Split one of their signature tostadas and ceviche. Oh my god, everything tastes so good and fresh! The ceviche portion was huge. The tostada was such a surprise, it was ahi tuna with a blackberry balsamic glaze, WOW! Service was quick and kind. Can't believe how affordable and amazing it was, we loved it so much we ended up coming back for another meal. This time I tried their version of pina colada - it was fancy and strong! The first time we got to experience some local live entertainment. All in all it's a fun, delicious good time and I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in Tulum! Muchas gracias :)

5/5, easy! This spot is so good that my party and I went twice during the same vacation time - never happens we nearly have a cardinal rule against this. The ambiance, service, pricing, location, and food are what will leave you missing Tulum in its purity, should you be from elsewhere like us. About the food: we tried a lot, but standouts were the tuna tacos, octopus tacos, and the Chapulines (just go for it) over guacamole. I don't drink, but my party enjoyed the ojo rojo most. We might be back for a third sitting - stay tuned.

Negrita que enamora. Delicious!

Very cool spot with delicious food. Looks like an alley between buildings, but has beautiful plants, plenty of shade and a very cool atmosphere. Shrimp ceviche was the only miss; just whole raw shrimp on a plate. The tostados were the way to go; so good. Two tostados is enough for a large meal for one person. Split a few to try more. The mar y Tierra is exactly what it sounds like and I could live off just eating this forever. The La Nuevo was delicious, but the onion rings we ate separately because it wasn't possible to do otherwise. The negrit que enamora stole the show with a ton of fresh tuna and perfectly flavored chili sauce. Delicious!

Definitely over ordered but everything was outstanding

This place was beautiful and had great cocktails. I don't eat seafood, so I was very limited, but my party loved their dishes.

First, the vibe is basically perfect. Feels exotic, is clean, the staff is fun, and the live music is the finishing touch. Second, without a doubt the best food we had in Tulum during our week there this year, and my week there last year. House Salad - I never knew I needed goat cheese ice cream on a salad but I'm telling you it was AMAZING! My girlfriend had the Octopus in marinade. She gets the Octopus everywhere we go. It was very tasty and not overcooked like is often the case. I had the Catch of the Day, Sea Bass. I have the fish of the day everywhere I go (live in St Petersburg, Florida, so I'm a seafood junky). It was, again, like last year the best fish dinner entree I had in Tulum. That's between about 12 different places I've eaten at in Tulum spanning the poshest hotel zone restaurants to the most reviewed and highly rated places in Centro in town. It was mouth-wateringly good and flawlessly prepared. I highly suggest trying the Mexican Tea cocktail - a refreshing, but not overly sweet, well-balanced drink that I loved and my girlfriend switched to despite it not being anything like what she would normally order. Last - I worked in restaurants starting at 15 through my late 20's including the most upscale place in the entire city. I got good enough to find gigs helping train staff during new openings. The service we received was remarkable, yet causal and fun. Commendable and appreciated.

The chili oil is no joke - seriously burn a whole in mouth if you are careful! The portions were LARGE and SUPER AFFORDABLE. Everything was delicious. We saw locals eat here so you know it was good. The restaurant was clean and had fans so not too hot for lunch. The waiters spoke a little English but were friendly and quick.

The ceviche and fried fish looked good, although we didn't order. Great complimentary tortilla chips - comes with pico, couple salsas (one spicy, one not), white sauce, limes, and chopped jalapenos (also to be used with your food). Started with fries for the table, which were very crispy, and flaky on the inside. As for entrees, Consensus was the fish tacos (especially diablo) were very tender and tasty. The octopus tacos came with good portions, but pieces of octopus weren't very bite sized (not a problem). Shrimp tacos were very buttery. Got the skirt steak (comes with medium sized enchiladas, small portion of rice and bean), which was also alright - tender but not juicy. Also got the hamburger, which was definitely skippable - seemed like ground chicken. Total for 6 people was about $100 (USD), which was very fair. Friendly and fast service. General consensus is to get seafood items.
