I've been working in Perth for years and passed through here many times (too many times!).
The station itself is huge for a small place like Perth but a lot of lines (going to Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh, etc) seem to pass through here so it serves as an interchange station. Sometimes the station feels very empty because of its size. The facilities are not very good, with just a few vending machines and the cafe providing food and drink. I've never tried the cafe, even when delayed a long time, as it doesn't look very appealing.
My experience with the station staff has been mixed. They have recently been quite friendly and apologetic when trains have been delayed. I was even allowed through the barrier without showing my ticket once! I've had problems a few times where the ticket machine wouldn't print all my tickets and the staff were unhelpful, claiming that there was nothing that they could do, this was quickly resolved by asking for help at another station. read more
