Been coming here for years and while the food and service (both 3-4 stars) have been consistent, the atmosphere has gradually declined. Some is out of their control to a degree, such as patrons listening to podcasts or shows full volume on their phones, however, one would expect the staff to step up and say something to them rather than serve as their apologists. The kitchen crew can get a bit rowdy too, blaring loud music with rave-quality bass or just joking and swearing. Late breakfast this morning at Persey's. Such a huge menu! But I found this -- Fish Cakes Benedict -- and I'll probably have it again (and again) on subsequent visits. The eggs were perfectly prepared (whites just barely cooked thru), and I loved the hollandaise sauce. The fish cakes were especially delicious, too... crispy and tasty and sumptuous. we tried this little place for breakfast on sunday and it was pretty good. i really liked the atmosphere here, the seating is so nice and unique. i was a little disappointed that they only had flavored hot coffee, not iced, but my boyfriend really enjoyed the freshly squeezed orange juice. i ordered the all american french toast and subbed the maple butter for the whipped cream. it was good, definitely one of the better basic diner french toasts i've had. i liked that it was thick and moist. the flavor was maybe 3/5 but i really liked their sugar free syrup, great option! overall, not too bad but i would probably come back for a more savory breakfast (there are more options for these and they sound pretty good!) read more

Waited over 30 minutes for a table, with a three year old, then waited almost 45 minutes for our food. We ordered eggs and pancakes. Not sure why it would take 45 minutes to cook and deliver eggs and pancakes. The three-year-old's eggs were cold and inedible. The food was not worth the wait. Asked for crayons three times. Finally, went in search of them and was brought some. By that time, the three year old was no longer hungry so all of his food was a complete waste. We were totally ignored. Ask for a refill on the chocolate milk more than once, but was never brought any. It's like we didn't even exist. There's gotta be a better place in Dartmouth to eat. read more

Oh dear, I hate to write negative reviews about a local place, but this was just terrible. They use a very, very, very strong disinfectant to clean and the smell was so overpowering that I had to hide my face in my coat while we waited for the food to come. It was already almost unbaearable, but when the people in the booth across from us left, a waitress come over with a bottle of purple cleaning solution and at that point, I wanted vomit. It smelled like the inside of latrine. I hoped the smell from the bacon I ordered would overpower it, but it didn't touch it. I only managed to have one sip of coffee and two bites of bacon before I felt so nauseous that I gave up trying to eat. I didn't complain because I know it is not within the control of the server who was very nice and prompt. I don't want my poor review to reflect negatively on the waitstaff. But I do hope that the management will take note of my review and another I read here which also noted the smell in this place. We went to this restaurant today because we had fond memories of previous visits. I ordered the sausage and biscuits with gravy as my main dish. This came with three eggs that I had scrambled, hash brown potatoes, sausages and grilled corn bread. I also ordered a house specialty, corned beef hash, and coffee to drink. The coffee and the corn bread for the two best parts of the meal. The sausage gravy tasted spoiled. I asked to speak with the manager and she took it back to the kitchen. They offered to make a fresh batch, and also asked if I would like another meat. I asked for bacon. The bacon was sorely over cooked. My eggs looked like they had been cooked forever. They were rubbery and burnt. The hash brown potatoes, which I had ordered crispy, were barely brown on one side and raw on the other. They were swimming in grease. The house specialty, which they say is made every day, was barely brown on one side and gray on the other. It was flavorless and tasted old. I couldn't finish any of it. I felt guilty, however, and asked for containers. My waitress brought the containers to the table and to add insult to injury, set the containers on top of my food. Not only once, but twice. I will also add that our table was dirty, covered in crumbs. The restaurant smelled like spoiled food and the wait staff was not very attentive. My husband and I were looking for a place that serves brunch and ended up at Persy's Place around noon. We were seated in a small booth directly under an air conditioning unit. It took a bit for our waitress to come over and take our order. It also took quite a while to receive our food and once we did, it was cold. We both ordered a French toast sampler and the only item between the two plates that was hot (or even just warm) was my husband's eggs. My maple walnut French toast was just a cold, hard, tasteless piece of bread. My scrambled eggs and home fries were cold and my bacon had a strange taste so I stopped eating it after the first piece. My husband's raisin French toast was also cold and hard. The restaurant itself was dirty, especially the women's bathroom, which was also missing hand soap. I could not get out of the restaurant fast enough and will definitely not be returning. read more

Trying to find a local not big box chain place for breakfast so stopped at persy's in Dartmouth Massachusetts this morning took a bit to get our order taken I ordered a ham and cheddar omelette add tomato with sausage and bacon and a 3 stack of pancakes omelette came made with American cheese and was not very hot I asked for butter on the side for pancakes the server had to be asked again for butter she got it and literally dropped it on the table in passing when I told her my omelette was wrong she seemed to have a attitude my son order banana pancakes with no nuts so he can share with my grandson who is 10 months old and it came with nuts when I told the server her reply was o I paid my bill and still left a 20% tip then on my way out I complained to a woman who said she was one of the managers won't be making this a regular place would rather have gas station donuts read more

Persy's Place was a large let down on a morning out with friends. Though the atmosphere is bright and homely, the seating is uncomfortable (hard wooden booths) and with little room. I found myself more than bumping elbows with my boothmates. The "4 person" seating, in essence, only 'comfortably' seats 2. The menu options are enormously large, with a huge variety of egg, pancake, etc plates to choose from. As a restaurant boasting about their oversized menus, the waitresses give you very little time to look it over. Ours in particular came over at least twice before we were able to review all of our choices and make a decision. I ate the "Yankee Special" comprised of pancakes, eggs, homefries, toast, bacon, and sausage (I like a little bit of everything). No complaints regarding the food, but no compliments either. It was an average meal, one I could have paid less for somewhere else. The bill for 3 people came out to $33. . . not bad considering we chose some of the cheapest meals on the menu. Some items I felt were severly overpriced. If I had ordered a Waffle. . . I would have only paid a dollar fifty less than I did. For $1.50 more I enjoyed 5 more items than the average waffle-goer. Hm. . . Lastly, I did not enjoy calling after our waitress as she would seemingly be running away from our table. Rarely did she ask if we needed anything, making it a struggle to get anything. . . from a refill on my coffee to getting a box to wrap up my food. Once more she ran by to pick up our check, money almost in hand, we explained we had not finished dividing the bill between us. Never before felt so rushed! Stopped here for the first time ( we drove by many any times ). Let's just say we will not return. We were seated outside and given paper cups and plastic utensils. Our waitress was less than attentive. She took our order and then never returned. Our order was delivered to our table in Styrofoam to go container. A member of our party ordered pancakes and was given no syrup or anything. We waited for over 10 minutes for ANYONE to walk by so we could ask for syrup and ketchup. We had to flag her down for the check and then again for her to take our credit card. Now I understand COVID and the need for safety, however we have been to many places during the pandemic and have been given real utensils a d plates. I have always loved Persey's, but was disappointed during my last visit. I ordered an omelet and my friend ordered chicken and waffles. The omelet only had cheese in a small portion of it, most of it was just dry eggs with vegetable filling. I had a side of baked beans which tasted like something out of a can, not the delicious homemade ones that I remember. My friend's chicken looked like a couple of frozen tenders thrown on top of a waffle. She didn't complain, but it did not look like the quality food I was accustomed to at this restaurant. For two sub par meals with tip it was over $40. The service was good, but I don't think I'll be rushing back here anytime soon. read more

I came in for a late breakfast today with my wife and son. Our server Courtney was amazing! I ordered the eggs Benny and boy was it delicious. Every time I needed a coffee refill she was always there perfect with the timing to fill my cup up! The atmosphere and decorations really give the restaurant a nice groove to it. Smells really really bad in there. like awful. Imagine if a witch used the same cauldron for her potions every day and never cleaned it. That's what it smelled like. Like a mixture of strange herbs and spices and toad slime. Im pretty sure the hash browns are made out of classified documents that have been shredded to protect government secrets. No amount of hot sauce could add flavor to those abysmally bland "potatoes". Dartmouth Roast Beef is better than that janky ass place. I've been to Percy's Place before, but not in a few years. This location needs a bit of updating - sticky, wobbly booths, scratched dishes, etc. The menu is extreme. It is an intense breakfast experience with a full menu of egg, pancake, and waffle options. In addition, there is a lunch menu and a specials menu. It is too much. Overwhelming. The hot chocolate was great, probably the best I've had locally. Very rich and the whipped cream was thick and creamy. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered huevos rancheros? I order it when ever I see it, and I feel that if you are bold enough to put it on your menu then you should have a good dish. This wasn't so good. A large flour tortilla with some onions and bell peppers folded inside (present like), some bad grocery store salsa on top, two poached eggs, and a few slices of avocado. It came with black beans (an undrained can of goya in a bowl on the side) and a side order of my choice, toasted English muffin. On a cold and snowy day this wasn't what I had in mind. Mix it together. Add more cheese. Chop the avocado. Maybe just drain the beans? Service is good. Food comes quickly. I'll go back for sure but I will likely order an egg sandwich. read more

Though this place doesn't look like much from the outside, it more than makes up for it on the inside. They serve both breakfast and lunch, however they excelle at breakfast. When you walk in there will most likely be somewhat of a wait. Not to be worried though, serve yourself some free coffee!!!! The time goes by fast. The have a delightful atmosphere with a great breakfast menue. Lunch is just ok but breakfast is always wonderful! While you're there be sure to sign up for their mailing list to get a free loaf of corn bread!!!! Also be sure to check out the specials!!! My son loved the reindeer pancake at Christmas and the Mickey charms marshmallows and green pancakes this month. Limited hours but worth it. Again, breakfast is where it's at for this joint. You know what? The food was pretty good. It's not as greasy of a spoon as other diners, it's actually pretty homey actually. The interior is all wood and there are a billion places to sit. It's reminiscent of my hometown Bickfords that sold souvenirs at the door and the tables have little games on them for you to play while you wait. They also have Wifi but I thought our table was a little small for that and it was so hot in there we couldn't hang for too long. Overall though, food was decent. read more

Amazing place. In order French Toast, one egg scrambled and bacon. Rebecca's was my waitress. The 2 pieces of FT filled the plate to overflow. My eggs were done just the way I asked for them, but the one egg looked more like 6 scrambled eggs. Delishous. Bacon was crisp without being greasy. I ate as much as I could, and the plates looked like they hadn't been touched. God bless Rebecca. Attentive and so very pleasant.
