We hired Personal Movers, Calgary to assist us in moving our furniture from the basement to the main level of our home, after renovations. This required no blankets, no wrapping, no unwrapping and no truck. They did, however, confirm they needed to charge $145 as a truck dispatch fee even though we did not need the truck. The dispatch fee plus $145 per hour. We had used this company before so relented and agreed to pay the truck fee since we felt we "knew them". During the course of moving the furniture (standard furniture pieces) from downstairs to upstairs, the movers caused significant damage to the stairwell walls, stairway caps and a brand new wood railing post. The damage was caused by moving a couch. The couch is a standard size leather couch and is now damaged as well. We knew the couch had fit on the way down the stairs so it would of course fit on the way up. We had suggested to them that the railing could be removed but they felt they could get around the railing. Eventually, they did remove the railing and the couch was brought up. Neither of the movers said anything about the significant damage. Once we noticed and pointed it out to them, they were very apologetic. The movers took photographs of the damage as requested by their Management. During discussions with the Management of this company, things went from bad to worse. They refused to take any responsibility for the damages or even discuss them with us until we paid their moving service invoice. They advised it was "their policy" to only talk about damages after they were paid for the service. While we objected multiple times, they BULLIED us into paying the moving invoice BEFORE the Management of Personal Movers would even discuss the damages, assuring us it would be looked after - once the moving invoice was paid. They have now stated that the couch was the problem and therefore, they take no liability for any of the damages. Are you kidding me?!?!? Not their fault whatsoever???? It's a couch and a STANDARD size couch at that. It was very successfully moved to the basement level prior to renos without incident. We don't really want to blame the movers who did the job as they were very likely instructed on the steps to just get the job done. Perhaps it was "get it done, whatever the damage". (Since the company has no intention of taking responsibility or paying for any damage to any customers home). Both of the employees were very hard working. They worked with us to place furniture and boxes in the correct rooms. We would recommend to stay away from this company-Personal Movers, Calgary. One of the movers was so slow and actually left mid move because he was "tired". By the time they replaced him, the move was so far behind it actually ended up taking 131/2 hours vs about 8 hours. Alfred then made me pay for it before the truck was even unloaded on the other end. He has yet to even send my invoice, or respond to the damages incurred (I sent him pics. Do not use this company. They do not stand by their word, and made me pay double the quote because of their incompetent employee!! read more

Horrible moving company drivers are rude unprofessional and expected a tip after.Not to mention they broke our thermo cover while moving and the owner did nothing about it.Also arrived with a small moving truck to move a large house and did not touch anything in the basement at all so we still had to move 50% Of our stuff.Run away........From these guys. read more

Worst move I've ever had. Moved from a 700sqft condo across the street (literally 300m) and it took 6.5+ hours! 3 hours to load truck, 2.5 hours due to a dead truck battery (!) then another 2+ to unload items (without using lift or dolly (because that would be faster...)! Be very careful when using online quote generator - they will use it to dispute your complaints. Only large items moved were queen bed, couch, TV stand (broken), bookshelf with doors - all other items had been previously moved and were small pieces of furniture - zero boxes. When discussing my issues regarding the move they now use this 'quote estimate' to back up their invoice and refuse to change time charged. Frustrated in my decision to use a smaller, lesser known mover, lesson learned, will use a bigger company next time. read more

The issues with the move and furniture is one thing. The way I was treated and their lack of response to acknowledge the disrespected in my own home is what upsets me the most. The move was scheduled for 9 am. It started with a call saying it'll be 9 - 9:30. At 9:24 I received a call that they can't find the place and have the wrong address. Around 9:45 the truck shows up and I watch them painfully try to backup for 5-10 minutes. (I had my car parked out front to save a space and moved it when the truck came). They come in and started the move out process. I had moved most items over already by myself, so there were very little boxes. I immediately noticed that they were a little slow gathering items. For example, taking apart table legs, which I didn't feel was necessary, by a hand screwdriver, and spend a ridiculously long time wrapping the couch in plastic while just placing the cushions in the truck. After three hours, they finally start to take apart the furniture, a large dresser/bookcase and the loft bed. Note - they tried for a long time to take the dresser/bookcase down the stairs, even though I had told them I didn't think it was going to go. Even though these are 'professional' movers, they did not have any power tools or even an allen wrench. Asking me for tools and taking apart everything by hand. At 2:30 everything is loaded on the truck and they say they are ready to go. Not everything from the house was removed, but I was so frustrated at that time I didn't even tell them to get the rest if the items, as I knew I could grab the rest way faster then them. They also never checked. They inform me they will be taking a 30 minute lunch which I won't be charged for, which is fine. Note - according to google maps, the drive time between locations is 7 minutes. At 3:30 I call them and ask where they are, and they informed me a few minutes away. I watch them painfully backup again, and an item to note, The truck took up half of my neighbour's driveway, I understand trucks need space, but the individual with a car parked beside it, completely blocking their entire driveway and access to garage. During the unloading process, my daughters and I are grabbing items, and removing the ridiculous amount of tape and covering over items. We tell them not to bother putting the dresser/bookcase back together and to focus on the bed. They start looking at items, moving everything out of the room they placed it in to see the pieces. They ask me about instructions and I said I did not have them. They are basically just standing there, staring at items for a long period of time, when I ask them if they are going to be able to put it back together. I said that I was upset, as I mentioned the bed when I placed the inquiry and if they were not able to put it together they should have told me before they took it apart. The one individual, raised his voice to me and exclaimed that nobody can put that together without instructions and stormed out. Needless to say, I was extremely upset. He called the manager I am assuming and came back and I looked up the bed number to model and instructions were found and they start the long slow process of putting it together. Finally around 10 pm they give up. The beds are not put together but my daughters and I will be able to complete the next day with proper tools. Most items are not put away, and I was charged over 2000 dollars for the worst move of my life. read more

Seamless. From the initial conversation around dates and confirming our booking through to the finality of our move, excellent. Every piece of furniture wrapped in pads and taped. Sofa, stretch wrapped. Superior attention to detail. We "downsized" from a two storey to another location with two sets of stairs. At no point did the crew utter a voice of discontent choosing instead to be helpful and interactive. A very long day for all involved and through to the end the team remained amazing. Management called when the job was completed to ensure our satisfaction and enquire regarding one or two rare antiques. Highly recommend this firm and their professionalism. We could have found "cheaper" but in the end, the truth is you get what you pay for. read more

What an awesome experience with Personal Movers! They were very careful with all of our things making sure floors and furniture had protection on before moving them. Very friendly and fast.
