We ordered veg fried rice for our kids and that came out perfectly. Lot of veggies and tasty. Another amazing culinary experience at Persis. We are always warmly welcomed in by the friendly staff and invited to take a seat. We choose a table with a view of the Indian cooking channel. First time visiting this restaurant and I enjoyed the experience. Service was quick. Restaurant was half empty. But the food arrived very quickly. Less than 15 minutes after ordering, our food was on the table. I tried the tandoori chicken and it was good. Very good but it didn't come with anything besides rice. I didn't realize that till it got to the table. No vegetables. Just chicken and rice. No sauce for the rice, just plain rice but they accommodated me when I asked for some sauce and they brought me a butter sauce to put on the rice. Overall the experience was pleasant. I will go again. And this restaurant has many vegan options, many, so I was surprised by the lack of vegetables in some of the dishes, vegetables that you can see. There may be onions and some few green things in your dish. But I didn't get many vegetables, neither did my friend. read more

Recommended to me as the star of a surprisingly robust Augusta-area Indian restaurant scene, this place produced excellent food. I noted that they had one table open, but cleared a separate one off for me, which I soon realized was to get me farther away from a very noisy toddler. Thoughtful of them. I was a bit disappointed that their South Indian specialties were not available, but found enormous variety on the menu and settled on some classics, including an aloo tikki chaat and a kadai bhindi. My fried potatoes and chickpeas were viciously spicy (which is what I asked for) and covered in delightful little sev (chickpea noodles). One shouldn't make a habit out of eating an entire appetizer at an Indian place (they're usually quite filling), but for one this delicious, I found a way to finish it. My okra was freshly cooked and garnished and if anything, less spicy but still delicious. A window to the kitchen in back and two monitors playing different food channels focused the mind on gustatory pleasures. Besides common Indian dishes, they also had an Indo-Chinese selection, and (hopefully on most days) South Indian lentil-based creations like dosai and idli, as well as some other more esoteric options. A couple of my friends were visiting Augusta, and they decided to come here for a Friday dinner. When we pulled up to the parking lot, we were pretty underwhelmed by the outside appearance, but when we opened the door, the scent of Indian spices burst through. We saw a pretty busy place with super friendly staff, but they were still able to accommodate our party of 6. The service was very attentive and joking, which adds a great deal of charm to this restaurant because it shows that they love working here and interacting with the customers! We were given some pitchers of water to refill our cups whenever we needed to, which was very convenient because we always felt bad asking for more water refills from the hosts at any restaurant where we are a large group. After we ordered our food, we were given these... colorful chip appetizers? With tamarind dip and cilantro dip. The chips were light and airy, and they were superb with the tamarind dip. Not a fan of cilantro, so no comment on that dip. I ordered the Korma chicken (spicy), bread basket, and mango lassi. The lassi was very thick and flavorful, and it came in a copper cup. It seemed small in size, but it was filling! The bread basket was for sharing with the table, and it came with 3 pieces each of 4 different types of naan: chili, garlic, regular, and wheat. My personal favorite was the garlic naan! The korma chicken came with a bowl of basmati rice. I asked for the spiciest spice level, and it was a comfortable amount of spice. I kinda expected to be crying tears of pain because I know how spicy Indian food can get, but I'm glad it was enjoyable instead of painful. The Korma chicken was SO well-spiced and was bursting with flavor. I think it's probably my favorite Indian dish I've ever had. I highly recommend it if you haven't tried it before! First time going to Persis on a recommendation from a friend. Spot on perfect experience. Attentive staff, extensive menu and delicious food. I am not that well versed in Indian food and selected the Curry Chicken my friend chose the Butter chicken we were told to chose our preferred level of heat. Butter chicken by request had no heat, I asked for tasty with just a hint of heat. Next time I will go for a little more. The second we walked in the door we were greeted and seated, immediately followed by water and far far. We first ordered the mango lassi which was sweet and refreshing. For dinner we had the lamb biryani and garlic naan. The lamb had a nice amount of spice but it wasn't overbearing. The flavor was wonderful!! The garlic naan had a soft center, crispy edges, and great flavor. We finished with the gulab jamun for dessert which was soft, sweet, and melt in your mouth good. All of the staff were so helpful and friendly throughout the entire experience. We ordered chicken biryani, fried rice, samosa chaat and aloo chaat, Hakka noodles, and methi chicken The Hakka noodles, chaat, and fried rice were AMAZING. The flavor was so delicious and it was well cooked and fresh. We were practically fighting over the noodles and the rice. The biryani was okay, not a lot of flavor. We got the "spicy", maybe should have gotten the Indian spicy because there was not even enough salt on the biryani. The methi chicken was similarly lacking. The reason for 4 stars is that the food took forever to come out. I understand they were busy with online orders too, but it took nearly 45 minutes from when we got there for them to bring out a single dish. We flagged down waiters twice to ask about the wait time, were told it would be out in 5-10 minutes. It didn't come. 30 minutes later, we flagged down another waiter, who went into the kitchen and checked on our food, and came out and told us all the food had been ready for some time now. Then why was it sitting in the kitchen? We asked for everything to be brought out all at once. They brought the chaat and noodles and waited till we finished it to bring the other food one at a time. I got an advertisement for this place in the mail just this past week. I love Indian food so I looked at the menu and decided that I would definitely have to check them out. I'm riding around Christmas day and took a ride to see where they were located. And guess what? They were open, Yes open on Christmas. The menu consists of gluten free, vegan, and various levels of spiciness. The service was great and the prices are average as to others in the area. Persis Indian Grill on Washington Road is a nice cozy establishment especially if your looking to mature your pallet to eastern food. The spices use in the dishes we had were incredible, some spicy and others flavorful. The wait staff was so, friendly and enjoyable to interact with. Our food arrived at the table freshly made and hot... not being versed on Indian/Turkish cuisine they were very patient and answered all our questions about the food on the menu. Came on a Wednesday with a friend around 2:10p and the restaurant was about to close at 2:30p. However, the host stated that there would not be a problem dining in. Food was delicious. Very flavorful, spices were amazing and lamb chops were delicious and tender. Ordered naan, very garlicky and light with just the right thinness. Also, I am not a fan of okra but it was flavorful and not slimy. The decor is very low key with no music or overwhelming relics. I would definitely recommend this place and would return. I stopped by at Persis today because I was craving Indian food but too lazy to cook it. I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala (spicy) to go and Chapati. I was happy that both items tasted good but man....I felt greasy after just a few bites. There was a layer of oil on the top of my curry and even more in my curry. Indian food is not supposed to be that greasy. It's like they added two sticks of butter/oil to just my dish only. You can see a pool of oil in my picture of the curry. Flavor-wise it was good; I ordered spicy but it wasn't spicy enough to me but it didn't lessen the flavor so I don't mind. The main reason I give it a 3 stars is the quantity of oil as it makes me not want to come back which is just unfortunate. And the pricing, it is quite expensive for one curry ($16.99) and chapati ($4.49). $4.49 for 2 chapatis just seems ridiculous. In my experience, chapati is usually $3 and paneer tikka masala is closer to $13, especially for this quantity so these prices seem a little inflated to me. Service-wise, the wait staff was kind and patient. I got my order within 15 min which was great! And the ambiance was decent - very family friendly. read more

I've been seeing this pop up and we love Indian food so we decided to call in an order. We tried 2 different naan breads - chili and cheese. They were both amazing, but hands down get the cheese. We got an order of vegetable samosas and they were also perfect! I always eat them with the Indian pickles. So good! If you've never tried to pickles you probably should. I decided to try their spicy friend rice with chicken. Amazing! Enough to feed 2 people. My husband got a lamb dish. It came with white rice. He had a lot of food left over as well. Lastly, I love rice pudding so I got an order of their Kheer (rice pudding dessert). So good! Really everything was just amazing. This has just become my new favorite in Augusta. Had Persis the other day as I was craving dosas. I ordered the mysore masala dosa and also was able to try some of the pav bhaji that my friend ordered. Mysore masala dosa (3/5): It had a close enough taste to decent dosa places I have had before overall, but the main issue was the texture. It was very soggy and the dosa was very thick, almost more like a pancake in some parts of it rather than the thin, crispy dosas I normally enjoy. The sambar and chutney it came with was decent. Portion size is solid but at 17$ after including tax/tip, this is definitely on the costlier end. Pav Bhaji (3/5): The color was a lot paler than I expected. Along with that, the flavor was also toned down. It was a lot milder and it felt like the seasoning was much lighter than the Pav Bhaji I have had around houston. This place scratches the itch in that if you are craving south indian food, you have somewhere to turn to. However, it could be improved with better texture on the dosa and a bit stronger spice with the pav bhaji. read more
