This place is really just a takeout, with a front area with a table or two if you really want to stay. I was promised freshly made food, and I received it. Despite a few menu alterations on their part, I got some interesting food. The place is listed as Pakastani, so I ordered things that seemed distinctively regional. My paneer chili delivered a delicious Indo-Chinese spice note and enough chili to clear my sinuses. The amount of actual paneer was not huge, but neither was the price, so I ended up just eating it all at once (unusual for me to finish an entire entree of that heavy stuff). The way they do a samosa chaat is a little bit drier and tangier than most, which does feel more like the style one gets in Pakistani places. It was satisfying, though the styrofoam container struggled to hold the liquid a bit. Of the numerous Indian restaurants in the area, I doubt this one will blow away all the others, but it was distinctive, fresh, and convenient. First and last time. We had the Saag Paneer and Baigan Bertha (eggplant) as well as veggie samosas and nan. The samosas were fantastic! The naan was gummy and flavorless. Both main dishes had limited depth of flavor without the craveable layers of Indian spices that culinary dreams are made of. Both tasted freshly made and not stewed for hours, which would have provided the depth. Service/owner was perfectly nice. And the prices were half of the nearby competitors. Give Lahore a try! All the reviews for this place are 5 star so had to try it. We ordered vegetable pakoras to start with, then the legendary chicken biryani with a plain naan. We actually got the samosas instead of the pakoras that we ordered !! and they were quite nice. Biryani was not a lot to write home about unfortunately, which for 9 bucks is a lot for a mediocre rice dish. Naan was very sweaty as it was wrapped in foil to keep it warm. Overall very disappointed and unlikely to go back. But at least we know now. read more

If you plan on dining here, I would suggest against that. I think there's a reason why this place was one of the first restaurants to pop up on Yelp's Take Out category. There's two tables for dining in this restaurant with no table service. Any who, I ordered my meal to-go. I placed the order over the phone and it was ready when I got there. The older gentlemen who cashed me out was very nice. The portion could be a little more generous, especially the rice. Normally you would get a 2.1 ratio between rice and entrée of choice but this place has it half and half. Also the spinach in the Saab is blended, it's much better chunky in my opinion. Let me say this before I start this review...I AM NOT AN ADVENTUROUS EATER!!! I can eat the same thing every day for the rest of my life, if it's tasty. A friend of mine coerced me into trying Indian cuisine for the first time here since he had been here before and raved about it. I had my reservations but decided to give it a go!! The owners welcomed me with open arms and explained all the menu items I had questions about. A suggestion about the menu to the owners from me is, that they should give a detailed description of each item on the menu so they won't have to explain the menu each time to new customers or maybe that's a way to interact with the customers. I ended up settling for the Chicken Biryani and Nann. It was a big portion but I did not like this dish at all. It was sweet and the spices wasn't pleasing to my taste buds. I did enjoy the Nann though, I order 3 extra portions. The owner did let me try something else off of the menu at no charge. He even let me keep the original order. I tried the Chicken Marsala the next time. It was better but I wasn't a big fan of it. I had to slowly eat the food because the smell and the taste of the spices made me so nauseous. I'm usually a person that loves worldly spices and ethnic food but I guess I can scratch Indian cuisine off that list. I do want to try the lamb dish they offer here but it's only available on the weekend. I gave this place 4 stars even though I didn't enjoy the food because of the customer service and the owners willing to please their customers at all costs. This place, for my room mates and me, has become the comfort food and special occasion dessert place that we all try to make up reasons to return too. It was a birthday? Oh, we definitely have to go here. Someone passed a class they were taking, we need to go. It is a Wednesday night? We have to go back. Yes, this restaurant really isn't a sit down place but there are two small tables inside (probably reserved for waiting for you food for carry out) and each time we've gone we have been lucky enough to commandeer the table on the left. We share food and get different things each time and, even though I couldn't tell you all that we've tried, everything that we have had from here is delicious. The family that runs and owns Lahore Express is super sweet. They put up with us sitting there and eating and being loud (the only way laughter can be) and even sometimes celebrate whatever brought us there along with us. There is one dessert that you must try, Shiraz Delight. If my ending the review with that sentence could express to you the sheer greatness of this dessert I would. However, I feel like the point wouldn't make it and you might be left thinking, "Well, what made it so good?" Everything. Everything makes it good. It melts in your mouth and really I can't tell you what it is made of. Just try it, ask for it warm--if you get it just out of the oven... shoot. This is a hidden gem in Augusta. read more

Good stuff and a tad cheaper than curry hut down the road... Naan is only $1 and when you get a side of Raita you get a ton of it, so its actually worth spending the extra $2. They have a buy 9 entrees get one free punch card which is coo. My friend and I decided to check this place out from the reviews on here and were pleasantly surprised. At first when we pulled up to the store, we didn't know what to expect, but it's a small little place in a plaza. There's only 2 tables, so we got it to go. They have a little TV that's always playing. Just like a relaxing hanging out kind of a vibe if you just wanted to sit there and eat. They have plenty of vegetarian options, which is awesome for me! The service was really good and they're always kind and patient when we asked questions. I had sort of written off all Indian food in the area on account of being served lasagna at one, having really awful mild greasy food at another and mediocre service to top it all off. Thankfully my desire to eat Indian/Pakistani food is so strong, I forced myself to try this one last place in the area and I'm so glad I did! This is strictly a takeout place so take that into account when planning your meal. They do have some stools in the waiting area but I really don't recommend trying to eat on the thin crooked pieces of wood they have against the wall and take it home instead. I called in an order and showed up promptly at the agreed upon time but they needed a few extra minutes to I got a chance to take in the tiny waiting room and listen to the pots getting scraped and the beeping of the staff's cellphones going off. I took comfort in knowing that they weren't responding 'cause I could hear the reminders to check their phones going off as well. Now that being said, I was so impressed with what we ordered. In an effort to get a good feel for what this place offered, we ordered: 1. dum gosht roll 2. aloo masala roll 3. veggie samosas 4. chicken biryani The first thing my hubby said was, "Wow, those are big for samosas" so right off the bat, it looked like we were on a path to something good. They were big, flaky, spiced just right and fell apart in your mouth. I was so happy to see that they were too greasy or even needed sauce to mask some mediocre flavor like I usually did in the past. The dum gosht roll was not at all what I was expecting and that's a good thing. The meat was braised, spiced well, complemented the yogurt, and veggie mix and was oh so plentiful. With each bite I took out of the sandwich, more beef fell out 'cause it was just packed in there. The aloo masala roll had to be have been my favorite entree by far. I'm not a vegetarian and actually stay far away from most veggie dishes but oh my gosh, I would order this again and again any day. It's spiced potatoes and veggies which doesn't sound that great or special but when the right combination of spices and tender potatoes just kick your taste buds awake, you listen. I haven't had good potatoes like this since living in on the west coast and it made me feel nostalgic for a nanosecond. I have yet to try the biryani in its entirety yet but I did try a few bites and I'm impressed with the large chunks of chicken that got in the way of my saffron rice. The rice was plentiful, meat was tender, and there was a good ratio of rice to chicken and I'm happy to say that even on day 2, the rice didn't try out. :-) This is clearly a place that takes pride in their food and stick to what they know instead of spreading themselves too thin. Great food and the owner is very friendly. I wanted something different than fried seafood or your normal chain stuff while I was traveling and staying in Augusta. Do not expect to take the family there and eat inside as they only have a couple tables and think they are there for a quick place to eat. The place is kinda hard to find for the first time because it's in a shopping stop mall and you will drive right by it a couple of times. They should put a sign out on the sidewalk if allowed. I came by this place and picked up a menu on my way to India Cafe one day. India Cafe is a nice little place, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to risk another place, but I figured I'd give it a go. A few weeks later I called in and placed an order for pickup. It's not a dine in restaurant. I picked up my food, and I must say I was both surprised and slightly disappointed. The samosa chaat was fantastic. Definitely worth trying. Really good. The slightly disappointing part was that the entree dishes(we ordered two) seemed to have waay too much rice, and not enough of the actual entree. My friend ordered chicken masala, and it was good, but the ratio of rice to chicken was way off. They need to increase the amount of actual entree and decrease the amount of rice. The entree itself was very tasty. Slightly different from "indian" style. Though I have not eaten at a lot of pakistani restaurants, the food seemed similar, but not exactly the same, which is fine. It was tasty, and really, that's all that matters! The staff was very pleasent. There is a lady who I think does a lot of the cooking, who seemed very friendly. There is also a young gentleman who does ordering/cashier whatever, and he seemed friendly as well. Overall, this is a great place to order some takeout from. Stumbled across this place on a Sunday afternoon, was so pleased to find them open, happier yet when I saw the prices, and then to top it all off it was delicious! There were a few chairs to sit, but this is really more of a takeout place, so I got my wrap, samosa chaat, and chicken masala to go and went to the park. The masala was a little different from what I've had before, maybe a regional difference?, but definitely still good. The best was the chaat, hands-down. I love Pakistani cuisine especially the one from Punjab province. Lahore is a really old and very historic city of the Punjab province. The people are cheerful, the language is sweet. Their food is colorful and one starts to rediscover their taste buds. I simply love this place, their samosa chaat is light lunch, best to try their wraps and dum gosht wrap is super spicy. Love it!! The only restaurant in Augusta with legit Pakistani food. A few of my favorites are the shredded beef wrap, butter chicken, chicken biryani and of course their new kabob options. On weekends you can get freshly made koobideh kabobs which is hands down my new favorite dish here. read more
