Persia Foods is a Persian market with multiple locations throughout Greater Vancouver. They are a great place to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, and of course...as the name implies, everything you need to make all of your Persian favourites in the comfort of your own home!  I dropped by the Burnaby location one day when they had a sale on green grapes for $1.99/lb. Some of the green grapes were of the Cotton Candy variety so I bought a bag to bring home. Now I'm kicking myself for not having bought 2 or 3 bags of them as the Cotton Candy grapes were soooo good and we went through most of the bag very quickly. I put a few in the freezer and they are now a precious commodity in our house! Love their selection of Persian breads. They've got humungous slabs of bread for sale. There's also a wide variety of Persian spices, condiments and other staple ingredients for cooking Persian foods at home. If you don't have time or energy to cook things from scratch, they offer ready made canned foods that you just need to heat up over the stove.  If you're a fan of Persian foods then this place is definitely worth checking out! Service: Good Parking: Free parking at the store and on nearby streets. Location: 6791 Kingsway, Burnaby

Before Persia Foods, this location had a 24-hr produce (not convenience) store, which was a little weird in itself, but pretty cool for those late night veggie needs...except...most of the veggies sucked. Cheap, but bad quality and some even rotten. After we noticed that the sign had changed to 'Persia Foods', we decided to check it out and were SO GLAD it is nothing like the predecessor. QUALITY = Solid. Fruits and veggies were mostly fresh. Looked and tasted good. Especially the seedless champagne grapes were delicious! PRICE = Cheap. Red/yellow/anycolor peppers were 99cents/lb. I have not seen this kind of price on peppers since 3 years ago. Soy milk was same or cheaper than T&T. Avocado was 69c each in late summer when everywhere else is selling them at $1-3 each (I saw the $3/ea at Whole Foods). SELECTION = If I had to pick one awesome thing about this place, it's the variety of products. There were at least 3 different kinds of tomatoes. There were at least 4 kinds of grapes. There is a bulk self-serve dried stuff section. Tons of loose leaf teas. 3 different coarseness of couscous. PARKING = Parking lot is right beside the store and is a fenced area. Can park at least 10 cars. If full, there is street parking. SERVICE = Courteous, and not overly friendly (which I like). Hardworking and efficient. Good quality bags (+ points) and takes credit cards (+ more points).

We love this place. Fresh veggies, always many varieties on sale and continuous replenishment. If you like nuts they are super fresh and Half the price of Ayoub's on Denman. However not as well displayed or the variety. Tight space to move around in the store and to get to the cashier. Overall great experience.

Hazelnut oil. Nutty and perfect for salads.

    Review Highlights - Persia Foods

I always thought it was a small little store on Kingsway but to my surprise, it is bigger than what it looks from the outside.

We started trying out the Blackball Taiwanese Dessert drinks from Market Ribbon recently. I've…read morealways been curious about Blackball so it's great that we can try some of their stuff from Market Ribbon without having to go all the way to the actual Blackball shop. Last time I bought some kind of Mango drink with Agar jelly for my daughter. She liked it while I was just OK with it. This time I bought a Passionfruit Lemon Green Tea with Coconut Jelly for my daughter, and a Wintermelon Tea with Grass jelly and Aiyu jelly drink for my husband. My daughter and I both loved the Passionfruit drink. I wouldn't mind buying that one again sometime. Hubby seemed to like the Wintermelon drink a lot. I liked it better than I had like the Mango drink with Agar jelly but still wasn't crazy about it. I really really liked the Passionfruit drink though, so I might buy that one for myself sometime since I only took a couple of sips from that drink and left the rest for my daughter. These drinks would cost a good deal more at the actual Blackball store so getting them premade at Market Ribbon for just $4.99 each is a pretty good deal. If you're not too picky, this is a great place to satisfy a bubble tea craving without breaking the bank!

After hearing so much about this Korean supermarket, I finally had a chance to come visit. Don't…read morelet the dumpy exterior scare you. Parking is plentiful in the lot in front of the building. The inside is definitely bare bones and on the smaller side. However, it was full of customers. They're doing something right. They have Korean snacks and produce. Special mention to their dedicated kimchi and ready to eat food section, which have items like tteokbokki (starch roles in sauce) and kimbap. Oh so tasty. Another thing worth mentioning - they have sashimi grade fish, and as of the time of writing, it is much cheaper than T&T. My only real complaint is that the checkout area is set up rather poorly. I just saw a pile of people by the counters and assumed I was in the lineup. Turns out the lineup actually goes down the aisle that is closest to the wall. Pro tip. This place is definitely on my radar now. Will be back more often to empty my wallet. Recommended.
