Don't buy a car here. Purchased a brand new 2022 Mazda3 and discovered scratches all over the vehicle when returning home from dealer. Dealership acknowledged damage and collected veh to repair paint. Veh was returned a few days later and all seemed resolved only to find scratches came back after a couple of hand washes. Dealer waxed the car instead of polishing paint. So now I have a new car that looks like an old car that goes through the automated brush car wash at the gas station. I contacted Mazda Corp for help but they are just as unwilling to help. I will be trading in this nightmare car as soon as possible. I was in shock, took my car to another Ford place in which they had to repair the head casket and front casket. My oil was very low when they look at it the next day. In August of 2022, via the dealership's website, I scheduled a routine oil change. The dealership website, at that time, offered shuttle/transportation service while your vehicle is being serviced. I took my car in for the scheduled maintenance to discover that they no longer offered this shuttle service even though it appears on their website. A few days ago I scheduled my next service/oil change appointment for 3:00 today, and noticed that the shuttle service continues to appear on their website. I brought the car in today at the scheduled time and the service attendant explained that I would have to leave the car at the dealership overnight. He went on to explain that any appointments after 2:00, the vehicle has to be left at the dealership over night. There is no information regarding this on the website. The car market is crazy right now. Almost every dealership in California is charging dealer markup and dealer accessories. Even with that, Jerry got me a good price in the market today. More importantly, the buying process was easy and straightforward. His manager Mark was able to work with us as well in ensuring a stream lined process with getting financing from the bank. And Jocelyn was a professional with talking about the after purchase add ons I could go with (GAP insurance, warranty, service package etc.) I did end up getting the 9 year bumper to bumper warranty through Perry Mazda. This place has the worst customer service for any dealership of Mazda or Ford within the surrounding 100mile radius. Bought our Mazda here in 2019 from the nicest Gentleman who unfortunately no longer works here , the previous Sales manager who we bought this car from promised to take care of issues the car had when we drove off the lot(smudged paint), unfortunately even after the first week of finding all the small but irritating issues such as bad paint job on the door, broken shards of glass ALL OVER THE BACK SEAT CREASES, Tom the previous sales manager asked us to bring in the Mazda and the shards of glass and they would provide a detailed cleaning, remove the back seats and make sure there was no more glass underneath, unfortunately their service guy OMAR had no clue what the hell was happening. And they kept having to reschedule us for the detail cleaning, months passed by, no call, no action from them. Now July 2020 , one year later ,service guy Omar has ZERO communication with the new sales manager Christian who is lacking the one requirement to be a sales manager, management skills, we have been dealing with multiple people since Tom was here, left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing scenario, spoke to Christian about finally bringing in the Mazda on my one day off for an oil change, and full detailed cleaning. OMAR had no clue wth was going on, according to him, he had no previous notification of having a Mazda being detailed cleaned as their Mazda Detailer was not working on the Only Saturday I have off, driving 50 miles here btw so yes my day has to be planned and scheduled to bring it here, he also stated "oh im booked for oil changes today" so i drove up here for absolutely nothing, No guarantee that the car would be detailed in time or when the oil change would be done, ITS BEEN 1 YEAR, and the smudged paint is still on the door which TOM had promised they would take care of by having someone mazda approved to repaint the door , apparently no one knows anything, wasted another entire day dealing with this crap, this is the 8th or 9th time now speaking with them and still Service side has no clue what Sales side is doing or planning, how the hell does anyone get anything done here with zero structure? NEVER AGAIN coming back to this dealership and would highly recommend everyone stay away from this dealership and instead go to Thousand oaks Mazda or Oxnard Mazda, where atleast the service and sales sides both speak to one another or atleast pretend they know wtf is going. I went here a couple of months ago because my a/c had stopped working. In their diagnostic, however, they also found some leaks in my exhaust system and some rusting underneath (due to the fact that I lived in Wisconsin and snow is bad for cars). They quoted me a number that was about twice what I was expecting and way out of my budget so I had them fix just the a/c and decided to come back in later to get the exhaust thing dealt with. The repairs ended up taking longer than expected because other problems kept coming up as they did work. The quote kept rising and rising. I brought it in first thing on Friday morning and it was on Monday evening when they finally got a rental car for me. I picked my car back up on Tuesday. I did some investigation of the remaining work that needed to be done. They were talking about needing to change out the whole system, but internet mechanics said that they should be able just to take out and weld back in new pieces. So I decided to take the car to another mechanic and pay for another diagnostic, just to see. The gentleman quoted me $500 to trade out some parts, as opposed to Perry Mazda's $2000. Honestly, I feel like a fool. I knew dealerships are expensive, but 4x as much?! That's absurd. They also no longer do service washes (due to the drought conditions - which I get)... But I fail to see why drought precludes them from vacuuming the car out. Maybe I'm expecting too much. After all, I did only spend a couple thousand dollars and was only inconvenienced for three unexpected days. Sadly, I'll probably never buy another Mazda (even though I love mine) just because I feel like I got so cheated there. First things first, I LOVE my Mazda 3 and my buying experience was pretty pleasant, the DAY OF. The days following my purchase my agent took days to respond to emails, when I tried to call the person "took a message" that I assume was never delivered. Finally, the agent pawned me off to someone else and it only took 3 weeks to get my car registered with the DMV [insert eye roll]. I also did the plan where my service fee is included in my monthly payment, which I thought was a great idea! In hindsight, not so much. When planning your service they promote this online booking tool that is "super easy" it really is, the issue is, they never call you back like they are supposed to. I have learned this the hard way 3x. So when I call and tell them their online tool doesn't work they say they are aware and that I can call and make an appt. My husband and I had a good experience returning my leased Mazda3 and purchasing a CX5. The negotiations were fair, and they give us a slightly better trade in value than KBB for my leased vehicle. The interest rates were market, too. What really sealed the deal for my husband and I was their new internet sales manager, Izzy. He was straightforward, responsive and easygoing, and we give our business to people we like. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was because before I got connected with Izzy, I had to follow up with a couple of people before being connected to Izzy a few days later, so there is room for improvement there. I also like to see ballpark figures for financing, which I only got from one dealer during this search, would be out of this world if they did something like that. read more

What an awful experience at this dealership. We were passed around from one sales person to another until finally the leasing manager Roberto came out to help us. He seemed less than thrilled to be outside and help us, even saying "they pulled me out from my desk for this". It was a hot day, and rather than making the process easier, he has us walk around the entire back lot, squeezing through cars and dirt, trying to 'find' the car/color combo we were interested in. He was rude, unfriendly, and just impossible to deal with. We had planned on test driving a few cars at this dealership, but after just 1 test drive, we couldn't handle any more. The service center at Perry Mazda is exactly the kind of place that gives dealership service centers a bad name. I just moved to Santa Barbara from Boston and took my Mazda 3 to Perry for an oil change and to check out a small noise. The staff is very unprofessional, calling me by a nickname despite me introducing myself with my full name, and texting me from their personal cell phones. I made an appointment early in the morning so I could wait while they did the oil change and drive myself to work after they were done, but when I got there they informed me I would have to take the shuttle to work and leave my car there all day. They also wanted to charge me $100 for a "diagnostic test" to check out the noise, which I assume consisted primarily of a mechanic driving my car around the block with their head out the window. Already this experience is very poor. Things get worse later in the day when the service advisor sends me a typo-laden text message to inform me that my car needs all new brakes. I finally get him on the phone and he informs me that brakes are "done differently" here in California than in New England where I am from and that he "can't believe" how bad my brakes look. He says the pads are fine but the rotors are totally corroded and that they recommend replacing all of my pads and rotors. I tell him my brakes were completely fine three months ago when they were checked before I left Massachusetts and he tells me that they'll work fine the way they are but I should still get them replaced anyway so that they're "done right." The price for the privilege of letting them do this work (which he basically admitted was unnecessary) is a mere $1400. This explanation for why I need this work is, to put it lightly, extremely dubious. The price they want to charge for it is unbelievable. Did they accidentally quote me for three brake jobs?? Are their brake pads gold-plated? Needless to say I leave without doing the brake job and take my car to a different shop in town for a second opinion (Big Brand Tires on Milpas, those guys are super righteous, definitely go to them!). The mechanic at Big Brand brings me out into the garage to show me my own brakes and I can see with my own eyes that they are absolutely 100% fine. He points out a small hotspot and says they can machine that down if I want but says doing that would be super unnecessary and recommends that I leave without doing any work. They charged me $0 for this brake inspection and made no money on me at all. When I look at the printout he gave me later, I realized even the measurements for the brake pads are different than what was reported by Perry, by 2-3mm. So incredibly shady. tl;dr the service center at Perry Mazda tried to sell me a $1400 brake job I didn't need. If you must go here, get a second opinion and be prepared to advocate for yourself--they certainly won't be doing it for you. read more

I recently lost my key to my Mazda 3, so I had to go back to Perry Mazda to get a second one. When I called to make the appointment they said it could take a minimum of an hour and a half to get it done, just to reprogram a key that they thankfully had in stock. I showed up at my appointment early, hoping it could help me get out of there sooner. Grant came out and greeted me and checked me in quickly. I mentioned that I had to get to work (in Ventura) and I was worried about how long it would take. He said he would get his best guy on it. So, I settled into their waiting room with free wifi, thinking it was going to be awhile. 45 mins later it was done! It was done in half the time, which has never happened to me at the dealership. Great customer service! I usually hate going to the dealer cause everything takes such a long time. I felt like he respected the fact I had to get to work on time. Most of all I felt taken care of. I found on AutoTrade this car I loved at first sight, but it was located in Santa Barbara, and I live in San Francisco. Still, I called them up, and Erica was transferred to me. It turned out she is the internet manager over there. I asked about a feature I wanted, and she went out and checked the car for, me. Then I wrote her an email with my offer on the car, and what i needed for my trade in. I also send them some pictures of my car. Sure enough, Erica calls me the next day, and they basically accepted the deal. I was very happy. The only catch: a 5 hours drive before I could even see the car. Erica told me she needs to sell by the ends of the month, and maybe that is why I get such a positive answer to my offer. No matter, the numbers are good, and Erica told me I can drive there anytime I want. I was a little nervous, because I thought anything could go wrong, but after the five hours drive, the car looked awesome, and Erica took me for a test drive, just like I just walked into the lot. Even my trade-in had no problems whatsoever. One of the manager took the key and sat in my car. That is all there was. Back at the office everything was as smooth and painless as I have never experienced at a dealership. I barely had to talk to the finance guy: just told him my credit union could give me this percent rate, and he said, "okay, we will match or find something better". The "sign-your-life-away" process was also a breeze, and we went through it in a few minutes (I am so sorry I forgot the name of the guy... but he was really nice as well). While waiting for the financing to go through (not long) and for me to sign the paperwork, Erica entertained the kids, and show us her desk and all the pink things she had. She keeps a binder with a bunch of children drawings, from her clients. She showed it to us, and sure enough my girlfriend's 6 years old girl drew her a card. My wife and I were looking or a very specific car and color, a Lexus SC 430 in Twilight Amethyst Pearl. In searching we found one at Perry Ford in Santa Barbara - about a two hour drive from our home. We called and spoke to the Internet Sales Manager, Robin Tidd. She was GREAT, gave us the information we needed so we drove down the next day to look at the car. Robin was a very professional and personable sales person. The car was the one my wife wanted (a birthday present for her). We bought the car, including an optional extended warranty and interior/exterior special finishing from the finance manager at that time. We drove away as happy customers. Months later, we had an issue with the exterior finish so I went to contact the manufacturer of the product Perry Ford used. It turns out that due to the age of our car there was NO WARRANTY. I was more than a bit surprised that the finance manager neglected to mention that when he sold us the service. I called Robin and told her about it. On both occasion I needed to take my mazda in for recalls it took DAYS!! before I got in contact with someone in the service center. Each time I would call I either got a voicemail which the person would never call me back or just ring for over 5 mins before I would hang up and call again. Waiting on a part they didn't have for a recall. Was told they would call me when the part is in. Well 7 days later I call them and again get the 5 minutes of ringing or a voice mail from someone who never calls back. Brought my 2011 Mazda CX-7 in for general service; oil change, transmission flush, brake flush, and a vehicle recall part replacement. Ten days after my appointment, I hear a sound under the hood. Had a mechanic friend check it out and he said my "Motor Mount" had been leaking for a few months and it finally blew out. (Something the dealer should have found during the inspection they did). He then looked around under the hood and found my Serpentine Belt was worn and about to break. Again, Mazda checked off that all belts and hoses were in great working condition. They also said my brake pads were in good condition, but the rear pads were checked by my friend and found to be just at the minimum requirment for safe operation. So, now I wonder if the fluid changes were really done. What else did they miss during the safety inspection that was marked off as good. I will never use Mazda service for any work again. read more

Bait and switch? Deception? All they care about is getting your money? You decide. I contacted Perry Ford/Mazda of Santa Barbara to help me buy a new F-250 King Ranch. They said they found my vehicle at another dealership and sent me a window sticker. The information on window stickers includes company codes and jargon. Nowhere did the window sticker indicate that the truck was a King Ranch, so I emailed them several times to confirm the details of the truck. Their email replies were vague and confusing, but one reply in particular was: "Yes, this is the truck you asked for." When I asked to see a photo of the truck, they said they could not provide one because it was coming from another dealer. Unfortunately, I trusted their word and paid for the vehicle in order to drive it off the lot once it arrived at their dealership. When the vehicle arrived and it was not what I asked for, they tried to get me to pay them more money to have it painted to look like what I asked for. I refused to take possession of the vehicle, and told them I wanted my money back. Perry Ford fought for a month to keep my money. Every level of the organization pushed to make me take that truck. They threatened to deliver it to my house on a flat-bed truck. With no reconciliation in sight, I had to hire a lawyer for the first time in my life. My attorney reviewed the contracts and email exchanges I had with the dealership and quickly confirmed that I had a solid case and would likely win in arbitration (I had signed away my right to take them to court in the course of the sale). It was only after I made it clear that I was prepared to go into arbitration with Perry Ford that they began to negotiate with me. First they offered to buy the truck back as a "trade-in," for significantly less money, though it had never been driven off the lot. Then they wanted to keep $3000 of my money in order to "rectify the error." Days before Perry Ford would have had to pay $3200 to begin arbitration, they agreed to give me my money back. Although relieved by the outcome, I was not reimbursed for the attorney fees. Furthermore, this was an extremely stressful experience for me. My biggest complaint is that it is clear at every stage of the negotiation that Perry Ford knew exactly the vehicle that I was asking for and still deceived me into paying for a different vehicle. This dishonesty is unethical to me, and I hope other consumers do not suffer the same fate. Please check the reviews before you choose a dealership. There are several Ford dealerships in Ventura, Oxnard, and the valley with much better reviews who give much better (read: honest) service. Finally, always lay hands on the vehicle you intend to purchase before you pay for it. This is probably obvious to most people, but it wasn't to me. My 91 year old father had his license revoked by the DMV earlier in the year. When his car insurance was canceled I insisted that he give me the keys to the car. I promptly sold it and gave him the money. He lives at Valleverde retirement community. After a month of angry stewing he got a lift to Perry Ford where he picked out a Mazda. In the middle of the paperwork Perry got a call from the head of Valleverde's medical facility informing them of the situation. They blew her off. One little problem... because my dad wanted financing he needed a valid drivers license and proof of insurance. No problem, the sales manager had the salesman drive my dad to the DMV. He even let my dad drive the car to Goleta where he was told that he had to go through a hearing and if he passed that hurdle, all the testing required of a 16 year old. That was two weeks ago. What did Perry do with the $3,000 down payment? It's still in their bank account. When I called, they informed me that "they just sell cars" if a 91 year old with a revoked license or a blind person wants a car, they'll sell 'em one. Those were the General Manager's words. I guess no one will care at this sleazy place when my dad mows their children down in his brand new Perry Mazda Miata. If you like trading with ethical businesses, this is definitely one to avoid. DO NOT BUY CARS FROM THIS DEVIOUS DEALERSHIP. Given my recent experience with Perry Mazda (Santa Barbara), I want to warn people of the fraudulent activities of this dealership. I was sold a "new" car under false pretences - an apparently "new" vehicle was sold to me, but before I had even driven out of the dealership, it was revealed to be faulty, and nothing has been done about fixing the situation. Background: On Saturday, 26th May 2012 I purchased a new Mazda 3 Touring hatchback from Perry Mazda, in Santa Barbara. Issue: After I completed all the paperwork for the brand new purchase, I went out to it and I noticed that there was a piece missing from the left pivot point where the rear cargo cover connects to the inside of the car. I pointed this defect out to Alex Corona (salesman) and Tom Zimmerman (sales manager), and it was explained to me that this could be easily corrected, but could not be done that day as the service person that would deal with this problem was not available (my biggest mistake in believing their lies). Follow up: I made arrangements with Alex to have the car picked up in order to have this issue corrected and on Tuesday, 5th June, my car was taken in for repair and I was told that this issue would be corrected quickly, by the following weekend. I called the service department on both Saturday, 9th June and Sunday, 10th June, but was unable to confirm completion of repairs, so on Monday, 11th June, I spoke to someone who said that the vehicle had not undergone any repairs, however, I informed them that I required the car by Wednesday as I was moving to San Francisco on Thursday, 14th June, which was information previously conveyed to Alex and Tom. On Tuesday, I received a phone call from Mike Schiada and he explained that the part had been ordered, but that this part would not arrive until that Friday, 15th June and that he could not guarantee the timing of the arrival of that part. Therefore, he could not confirm when the repairs to the back of the car would be completed. I also asked him about a leak in the moon roof that I noticed when taking the car through a car wash and he explained that the water was draining correctly and they could see no leak. Mike stated that when having the car washed, I should keep the inside flap closed in order to stop any water entering the cabin of the car (very dodgy as there should be no water entering the vehicle if the rubber gasket is working correctly). Prior to the vehicle going in for repair, I informed Alex that I was due to start my new job on the 18th June, in the Bay area, and that I would need the work to be completed by the middle of the week of the 15th June. He had explained that this would not be a problem as the dealership does not like letting their loner cars go out for long periods of time, so I fully expected the repairs to be have been completed in a timely manner. When I spoke to Mike about these repairs, or lack of them, he stated that he was informed by Alex that there was plenty of time to get the repairs completed, but it was certainly never communicated to me that there was going to be such a significant delay in the repairs being completed. As a result of the lack of any work being done to correct the issues described above, and because of timing, I had to move to San Francisco without any repairs being completed. More follow up: On the 28th June, I went to Putnam Mazda, in Burlingame (Bay Area) to find out about getting the issues described above resolved and when they looked at the interior issue at the pivot point for the back cargo cover, they explained that this is considered to be "damage at point of sale" and, therefore, not covered by the warranty. Outcome: NONE by the Perry dealership. Due to the issue I describe above I am thoroughly disgusted with Perry Mazda and the complete lack of any action to remedy the issues with the car. I have been in touch with Tom Zimmerman via email (which he does not respond to in any way because his responses would be in writing) and via phone call (which he does not respond to if I have left a voicemail) over the last 5 months and from saying that he was very concerned about my complaint he is yet to provide any actions to remedy the situation. During the last contact I had with him, he stated that this repair was "complimentary" and could only be done at Perry in Santa Barbara. Therefore, he expects me to make an 800 mile round trip journey to have the repair done at his dealerships' convenience. I have been in touch with Mazda directly, but even they have not been able to get Tom Zimmerman to act to resolve this situation. As a result of Tom Zimmerman and Perry Mazda's total dishonesty, I am now left with having the repair on my vehicle done at my own expense, when they could easily have arranged a purchase order to repair my vehicle at the dealership in the Bay Area. I had to have my engine replaced due to water damage. When they were taking apart my engine they said one of my engine mounting blocks was broken and it was not covered under my extended warranty. I looked through my extended warranty and it stated that engine mounting blocks are covered up to 100,000 miles, and my car only had 53,000 miles on it. After I showed them my extended warranty they agreed to cover it. They finished my car ahead of schedule but I don't think they ever test drove my car before giving it back to me. As soon as I started going over 40 miles an hour the front end of my car started to shake to the point of me almost losing control. I had to have the car towed back and the shop manager tried to say that something new must have broke, and this was not a result of the work they did. Have much debating they agreed to cover the work to fix the car. I got the car back a week later and it drove without any issues. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Thank you Perry Mazda for ALL your help with our Party Bus! We are the owner's of Pipeline Transportation and our Party Bus broke down at the worst time possible...right in the middle of Summer! NOOOOOO!!!! Grant in the Service Department was so helpful and clearly informative on what was happening with our vehicle and he returned my phone calls twice which you don't get that anymore these days. Thankfully our breakdown wasn't as bad as we thought, it was a recall on a part and was still covered under warranty. Grant ordered up all that was necessary to get our Big Beauty on it's way and they had her back on the road within a week. When Alton, our infamous driver took it for it's first run he said she's running better than she did before! This is a new bus so it shouldn't have had any malfunctions? I accepted it's just the nature of the business.... I was in the "test drive" phase and had the good fortune to work with Tina Flores. She was, simply stated, delightful! No pressure, straight forward, patient with my many questions, willing to let me try a couple different "flavors" of the CX-5 to get an idea how each variation actually handled. Though I ended up buying a different car, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I can recommend Tina Flores without hesitation! * I found the follow-up "robo calls" (with no message) very annoying! But that's on the dealership; NOT Tina. Just bought a new Miata. Spoke with Joe Medina (sales guy) and Alessandro Corona (sales manager). Me: "I want to buy this model, with these options, in this color, for this price." Them: "'k, let us check.," then five minutes later, "OK." If there's a way it could have been more straightforward and straight up, can't think what it would be. No bullshit, no hassle, no telling me I should take some options I don't want. Just -- yeah, you know what you want, cool, let's do it. None of the stuff described by other reviewers. I went with my friend to look at the CX-5s and Angelo and Ruben were so nice to work with. Angelo was a very nice sales person who took us for a test drive and Ruben helped work through the numbers as a more experienced sales person. An afternoon that was supposed to be looking at a car turned into buying a car. I highly recommend working with these two and particularly with Ruben. When it came down to the numbers, Ruben brought in the "big boss," Walter, who was also very pleasant to work with. In the end, all were very willing to work with my friend to make sure she was comfortable and happy with her decision to lease. They offered her the details for buying and leasing so she had all the facts to make a sound decision. Having purchased a few cars myself, this was a great overall experience.
