New to town and was looking for a mechanic to change a light bulb on my running lights. Another competitor asked me to come back in 2 hrs. I looked up Rosebro (family owned since the 1930's) and pulled into the parking lot and was greeted immediately by Steve. He not only changed my light bulb but also checked all the lights on my car to make sure everything else was working perfectly. Visiting Carp from the Bay and my starter went out on my 2004 Honda CR-V. Local body shop recommended Rosebro, and these guys are the real deal. Steve's grandpa opened the shop in 1937 and Beto has been there since 1988! It was a throwback to another time, like Doc Hudson of Radiator Springs. Super friendly and straightforward folks. It's a bummer to have a major car problem away from home, but these guys were authentic and turned around my car in a day. If I were a local, this would be my go to shop! read more

Monday December 27th. Came into Carpenteria State Beach with our Travel Trailer Sunday night and the alternator on my 2006 Chevy Duramax 3500 went out. Talk about being in a bad place....everyone is closed for the holidays and anyone open said "leave it and we might get it back to you by the 30th". Staff shortages and holiday closures put us in a rough spot. Thankfully the mechanic at the local 76 station recommended calling Rosebro Garage. I called and Steve said bring it I and we will get it done by tomorrow. I was elated and thankful as this would be saving our vacation! Don't let the location fool you, these guys know there stuff. A Duramax is not an easy vehicle to work on. These mechanics caught the mistake from the parts house sending the wrong part, got the correct part, and had us out the door at 4:30! They were price on point for what I expected for labor and materials even without a quote. As a business owner AND previous mechanic, I can say these guys are trustworthy and honest, and know their stuff. I live in Paso that's over two hours away. I caught a rock got out and looked and saw a clear liquid under my car. Drove to Roseboro garage. He said it was just a coincidence that was normal from my air conditioning. We stopped at Rosebro just as they were closing on a Friday night, because we had an overheating engine and a coolant leak and were about to be stranded on the road. Even though it was past closing time and Friday night, they stayed to help us out, and really cared that we wouldn't get stranded on the road. It would be one of the most intelligent choices you've ever made: Please take all your broken-down, junky, tattered and worn-out vehicles to Steve & Beto and the other Experts (The Team) at Rosebro Garage in Carpinteria, California (that's between the cities of Ventura and Santa Barbara, near the 101 freeway). Doesn't matter what's wrong with it. They can fix it. Have been taking our ready-for-the-junk-pile cars to them for years and they make them like brand new. And they try to squeeze us in, when we need their help, even though they are really, really, really very busy all the time. Honesty: They go up and above and beyond the call of duty. I have proof of that. Prices: Are very fair. Their Work: There is none better on planet earth. Years ago, had a motorhome towed in to their place, caused it was stranded on the streets in the city of Santa Barbara and subject to be impounded by Traffic Control (just minutes before having it towed, it was worked on by another mechanic). It would not start. Within minutes, Rosebro had it going. And it kept on going and going and going. Hey, we will never trust any other mechanic on planet earth, unless (of course) they are at Rosebro Garage. To the Expert Team at Rosebro Garage: Please never put a new building there in place of the old one. We normally go to Risdon's Auto Repair and really didn't know Rosebro Garage. My son needed to handle his cars problem and waited till the last second before going off to college to deal with it. He did something online and decided on Rosebro Garage. He just drove over with his laundry list of things. I then called a little later because one of his side lights was hanging by its electric cord and that just bugged me. I said I'd pay for that since my son was paying for his tune-up and stuff. I went over with him at closing time and surprised him by paying his bill. I'm his mom right? They didn't charge for figuring out how to re-screw that light back in, but it was in and looking good. His car ran smoother, smelled nice and got done in an afternoon. The prices were very fair. The staff were very nice and I got just a good feeling from them. I'd recommend them to a friend and use them again. Looking at their cute garage is like going back to Mayberry! read more

About 6 months ago the Ford V10 motor in our RV blew a spark plug right out of the head, stripping the thread. Apparently quite a common problem. We thought about towing it closer to home, where our mechanic said the repair would be around $1000, but we asked around in Carp. and heard good things about this place and they were right. The original estimate was about $750 but when I came back in the bill was $675 how often do you get that? The shop has been there forever and is old style scruffy but they know there stuff, are honest and friendly. read more

This place has real problem. They advising customers that if you have a transfer of sale of a vehicle that you need a smog test wthin 60 days. If you go to the website of DMV they say it 90 days. I think these guys need some more training. read more

I've been using them for about 16 years on several makes of cars. They do reliably good work and their prices are always reasonable. One time they apparently did something that made my airbag light come on and when I brought it back, they immediately fixed it at no charge. The place looks kind of shoddy (in small town way) but they do great work. read more
