We have been at Perrien Farms for nearly a year now, I figure that now qualifies us to write a review based off of actual experiences over time. Our daughter has been riding for nearly two years now. We had previously been to two other barns that were both fine barns just not quite the right fit for us. When we found Perrien farms we found our home. Trudy and Kim are not only knowledgeable and good at what they do they are also practicing riders who compete themselves. When we first began at Perrien Farms I could not have been more impressed and more hopeful that my daughter could someday enter the ring with the poise and confidence of these young women who were already competing in the Hunter/Jumper ring. Fast forward 8 months and my daughter competed this past weekend in what is now her third show and brought home multiple ribbons one of which was a second place (out of 17). Our daughter has progressed so much in the past 8 months and has truly found a home here at Perrien Farm thanks to Trudy, Kim and all of the other riders here who have taken us in and become family. Perrien Farms barn is full of strong, confident horse people who aren't afraid to get dirty, who aren't afraid to laugh and laugh hard, and who aren't afraid to get into the nitty-gritty of what makes a great rider and implement​ it. Though our goal was to get competition ready there are many kids who come to the barn for lessons with no intention to go ever go to a show. This barn is accepting of all levels of riders and all desires of where you'd like your riding to take you whether it's recreational or competitive. Don't let this little barn fool you, it might not be the most glamorous (it's an actual functioning little ranch) but glamor has nothing to do with talent, or hard work, or success. As far as some of the reviews on here saying that they are unprofessional with horrible customer service, these women are horse people and for those who do not know what that means it means they are strong-willed, outspoken and it is not their job to create a cushy environment it is their job to teach you to ride and keep you safe and let me tell you, they will 100% deliver on that. This is not a pony ride at a fair these women actually know what they are doing, they are passionate about it and they are awesome at what they do. Unprofessional and uncooperative. Not interested in customer service. I purchased a groupon and the owner had no interest in fulfilling the lesson. What was supposed to be a fun experience for my family turned into a giant hassle that left me irritated and wasted my time getting a refund. Avoid! read more

Well all I can say is you get what you pay for. Don't let these pictures fool you they make it look like a nice place and it's a hole in the wall careful when you pass by you might miss it. The owner is rude and was fighting with her daughter (who was my daughters instructor for the day) and made her daughter cry. Very unprofessional staff. are always late, don't really care about the customer. I should of known when I talked to the owner the first time she was very rude and short. My daughter took two lessons and both lessons were the exact same training. I would not recommend this place to anyhow unless you just want your kid to ride a horse for an hour being held by a rope but then again you can do that at the fair. read more

Perrien Farms is a family friendly, affordable English show barn that has made my daughter's dream of riding horses come true. She has progressed from a beginning rider at age 13 to jumping over 3' and assisting with the training of other beginning riders based on the foundational skills she learned from Trudy Perrien. Trudy sets high expectations for every student she teaches and holds each rider accountable for their ride and care of the horses and tack. She is amazingly patient, kind, and willing to give her heart to any child or adult who wants to learn and share her love of horses. She is a true teacher. If you are part of the barn, you are part of Trudy's family. The horses in the barn, two of which have been and are ours, are well cared for, nurtured, and loved by the riders and owners. They are blanketed during cold weather, given regular turnouts and exercise, and daily feed and supplements. They receive regular farrier service and prompt medical care when needed. These are expensive, experienced show horses who give their all to their riders during every lesson and at every show. The barn's riders have the ribbons to prove it, many of them high placings from large competitive groupings in hunter and jumper events. None of this would be possible for many of these families, us included, were it not for Trudy Perrien. If this sounds like where you'd like to be, then Perrien Farms could be your barn too. read more

The owner Trudy seems really nice at first. But once you look around and realize the horses have no cover when it rains, no room to move around, and are used way too much for lessons. (don't take an evening lesson or the horses will be too tired to trot) Gorgeous horses, but way past their prime and obviously not cared for like they should be (broken hooves, swollen legs, etc. etc.) After one week the owner will tell you who she doesn't like and gossip about "barn" issues.Do yourself and your kids a favor and steer clear of this business. read more

We have been using the Groupon for Perrien farms for 3 years now! We love it! My granddaughters started coming at 9 and 13. They have learned so much. Trudy is very knowledgeable as are the girls that help with riding lessons. Having grown up on a ranch myself I totally understand the workings of a business that involves living creatures. We redeemed our Groupon right away, scheduled our appointment about 2 weeks out the first time and 5 weeks out the second time. EVERYTHING worked like a charm. This has been a fantastic experience for our family. The girls are now 12 and 16 and just finished another great lesson with Trudy. We will be back. Just a note: this is English Equestrian riding, not Western Saddle riding that is pretty common in our area. They know what they are doing and match up student and horse. Let them do their job. Trudy at Perrien Farms is awesome! She gave my 3 daughters a horseback lesson on very short notice. She was very down to earth yet still professional. My husband and I liked her way of teaching, she was very to-the-point while still making things fun for the kids and making us all feel comfortable. All the girls really enjoyed their lesson. I have been riding with Trudy for over 3 years and I have noticed a huge difference in my riding abilities. I came from another area trainer and I didn't realize how much I didn't know and wasn't good at until i began riding with Trudy. I now jump with confidence and am better prepared to handle anything that could come my way, since horses do have a mind of their own. Trudy wants her riders to have fun but never at the expense of our safety. She is a great teacher and encourages her riders but is straightforward with them; encouraging yet tough. This is crucial when it comes to rider safety since we are dealing with 1,00Lb animals with minds of their own. Trudy's prices are incredibly reasonable compared to industry standards and she is willing to work with families to tailor lesson programs to everyone's schedule and budget. To Shannon, who stated the horses aren't well cared for and live in bad conditions, I would say you don't know what you are talking about. I board my personal horse at this barn and have no issues. If the facility and care was as bad as you claim, why on EARTH would I have my own horse there?! Clearly a complaint by a bitter, spoiled person who for whatever reason, wasn't catered to and felt the need to go on Yelp and post a completely untrue and inaccurate review. To Michelle and Stephanie, who said their Groupon experience wasn't so great, I would challenge anyone to buy a Groupon for a massage and then call the spa and get an appointment for the next day. Not going to happen. Trudy has the Groupon program IN ADDITION to all of her 18 regular riders and she has to balance all of that. Even her regular clients are told not to be late to a lesson r they could forfeit their ride. And the reason for the text massages... This barn is Trudy's second, full time job and she can't be on the phone all day. Text messaging, as most people know, is a quick and easy way to have a conversation even when in the middle of another task. And consider this... how rude is it to expect to be able to show up over 10 minutes late to a lesson without considering the people who have lessons after you and what you are doing to their day and schedule? Lesson: be realistic in your expectations of a busy barn, a barn owner with two full time jobs and be considerate of the other people who are trying to take lessons around your scheduled time and be on time. read more

Unprofessional and horrible customer service skills with this back yard business. We never made it out to Perrian Farms and I'm glad the lady we spoke with, Sheree or Trudy, was rude on the phone and gave us an idea of the general business they run. We bought lessons from Groupon and the person who we spoke would only answers through text and would not take the time to speak with us. She was very attentive to make time to schedule the appointment, but when it came to asking for specific questions or directions she referred us back to the directions on Groupon and didn't take our calls. I knew we were close to this enclosure when it came time to show up but couldn't find the address. We called to get an idea where they were at and still replied with a text and said, "Address and map are on the printed voucher, I have an appointment right behind you so if we can't get started in the next 10 minutes we will have to reschedule."
