There were several horseback riding options much closer to us than Dreamor Ranch. This ranch is about an hour and a half from us but we knew it was 100% worth traveling a bit further to reach. Their reputation for being incredibly friendly, responsive and laid back was the main draw. They're so great at tailoring the experience to who is going to be riding. I brought along my 10-year-old daughter and they had the perfect size horse prepared for her (Lucky!) and the child sized stirrups, saddle, and helmet. Billy was so helpful, friendly and fun. The trail itself is so gorgeous and beginner friendly. It was a long ride and we actually got a little sore toward the end, toward the 2 hour mark, but absolutely worth getting so much time to ride and enjoy! We will 100% be back! read more

My wife did not arrive in the best mood and both Mindy and Billy were incredibly understanding, kind, welcoming - I cannot say enough about how you turned what was a difficult day into a wonderful experience. My wife is a highly skilled rider and she was thrilled with how well-trained the horses were and the wonderful experience we had a Dreamor. My granddaughter had a great time horseback riding and the scenery was beautiful. I kept my promise to take her on an adventure. But I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the care and condition of the horses we rode. My granddaughter rode Jewels and I rode Lucky. Jewels and Lucky were very dirty and Lucky had sores around his nose. Their tails were matted and full of shit. Their manes were tangled. The water trough they were given to drink out of was full of algae and dark green. During the 90 minute ride it was a struggle to get them to do more than a very slow walk and near the end of the ride Lucky kept stopping and was clearly out of breath. Jewels is 20 years old and had to be lead in order to keep up with the lead horse. I felt bad for the horses and feel we got the smaller slower, older, low quality horses because they had a 3 hour trip after ours. Mindy was not available, so her assistant was there. I understand they rescue neglected and abused horses and the rides help pay for the care which is a great cause, but I was hoping for a ride on the beautiful horses we saw in the pictures. read more

Amazing ride along the beach at Moss Landing. Beautiful horses, in great condition, and easy to ride. Their rescue/nonprofit mission statement will warm your heart. And the scenery absolutely cannot be beat! My daughter was grinning ear to ear. Mindy the owner, was great with all of us, teaching us all the very basics of riding. But she gave a little extra teaching to my daughter who had ridden before. Her assistant Rianna was great too. This was one of the best experiences that I've had in awhile! Mindy and her helper were so nice. They took us out to the beach and let us trot/canter with her horses. After the ride, she let us feed treats to the horses which was a fun experience in itself. She even took many photos of us and shared them with us for free. Her horses were all so friendly, sweet, and got along so well with one another, which was a relief since we were all riding so close to one another. Great experience! My eight year old wanted to go for a trail ride. He/we had no experience other than riding on a pony. They took the time to explain everything and make sure that my son was taken care of. The horses are very well trained and are just the sweetest horses ever. My son seemed like a natural rider. This was by far the best trail ride I have ever been on. I highly, highly recommend choosing Dreamer Ranch if you are looking to book a trail ride near Yosemite. Mindy was a great guide who is really friendly and knowledgeable of the area and horses. She obviously is very passionate about the horses. The horses were all responsive, and very well mannered. You can really tell Mindy puts her heart into training these horses. You can see the connection she has with them when she introduces you to each horse and she tells you their life story. The trail she took us out on was absolutely beautiful with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and peaceful scenery everywhere you look. Mindy gave us history on the land and the town. The experience was personal and I absolutely loved it. Not commercialized at all. Mindy took pictures for us and shared them with us so we could just enjoy the ride. The drive from Yosemite Park to Dreamer Ranch was also very beautiful. It is about an hour, so you will need to plan for that, but it is well worth it. Meeting Mindy and her magnificent horses was a beautiful experience made effortless by the easy instructions she gave us on where to meet and how it was going to work. I love this ranch...its not just about the horses but the people taking care of them! Mindy loves her horses. She treats them as her kids and thats the greatest part of our ride. Last ranch we went horse riding at, my friend cried because one of the staff kept punching the horse to stop him when hes not listening. It was quite a dramatic experience for all of us!!! We had a really wonderful horseback ride on the beach with Mindy and Matt. They were a pleasure to work with. Mindy was really great with my two young daughters and handled all four of us total novices with ease. This was one of the most enjoyable experiences we have had while living here in the Monterey area, or anywhere for that matter. Mindy and Rhianna are not only good with horses, but also with people. They are relaxed and friendly, they love what they do, and their horses are delightful. My nine and seven year olds were able to ride on their own even though it was their first time riding. I'm from Los Angeles and when I first heard about rescue ranches, I thought, "Why would a horse need rescuing?" As I looked more into it and saw videos regarding this very important issue it made me very sad to hear about so many horses being mistreated. My first time at Mindy's Dreamor Ranch was so amazing! She showed me around the entire ranch (which to me, seemed massive), explained about where she saved some of the horses from, how they got their names, and she even showed me on a few where they had been mistreated and how well they were healing. The horses each had either their own corral or were out in the open grazing. When it was time to put them in and out of the trailers for the ride it looked like it was expertly done (Now I'm not an expert but that's how it occurred for me). The ride on the beach was phenomenal! Just like how you would imagine it! Mindy (the owner) even loaned me a hat so that I wouldn't burn. I didn't even think to have one. It was a very nice gesture and ride, not too fast or slow and it was a couple of hours. I was extremely tired and happy at the end of it. So much so that the next time I visited the area I insisted on two of my friends coming along. Now I have been on horses since I was 16 and my friend had been on horses as well throughout her life; her fiance on the other hand...had NEVER been on a horse. HE HAD AN AMAZING TIME! We all did! I want to go again and again and again and my friends said the same thing. The horses were big and beautiful as was the ocean and both times were on perfect sunny days. Those horses seem truly cared for and loved and I will support any organization that takes such care in their business/animals. Additionally, I like this one also because they let kids ride horses and have classes I heard and sometimes assist special needs kids as well. read more

I went horseback riding on the beach with Mindy yesterday and had a ball! Our group of 5 people range in age from 7-75 and everyone loved it. The horses are beautiful and well loved. They are well trained but also have petty of life in them. The beach at Moss Landing was misty and overcast but not cold. Mindy is very friendly and patient and brought an assistant along to take care of saddles and equipment. We got to give our horses cookies and just ride! We looked and looked. I called nearly every option on Yelp for horseback riding in the greater Big Sur region. Dreamor Ranch hadn't come up at the top of my search - and I am SO glad that I was patient enough to make it down the list until I found them. Mindy - the owner - is flat out, the kindest, most amazing, knowledgable, horse-loving person I've met. I'm an experienced equestrian and frequent rider, and this was an amazing experience, one of the best I've had. She went above and beyond. The horses were incredibly well trained. The ride was beyond stunning. And thankfully, this was no "nose to tail" ride. We walked, we trotted, we galloped, we rode along mountain ridges, through valleys, etc. I did this for my girlfriend for her birthday - and it exceeded expectations by a lightyear. What a wonderful experience! Mindy is the essence of patience and kindness. I took my 7 year old friend who had never been near a horse before and she had a GREAT time...in fact, a life changing time! Mindy lead her horse so we both felt safe and allowed her freedom when we were on a dune trail (which was peaceful and also beautiful). She taught her about marine and bird life through the whole journey...which was so beautiful! Rhianna carefully kept watch over us from behind and repeatedly offered helpful reminders. This is a perfect place to learn about horses and how to ride. Riding along the beach is fablous! Mindy has a keen understanding of the care that needs to be taken with horses, dogs and other farm animals more than most. It's obvious that she cares deeply about the bonds between horse & rider and ALWAYS puts that above all. The horses are well fed, not lame and are not treated poorly EVER! I've ridden horses for most of my adult life, 58 years, ridden horses at other ranch's. I've worked in rescue AND animal control, as well as with a large animal vet so any poor condition or mis treatment would be apparent! This person wants everyone to have the magical experience of riding regardless of their past riding expertise. The bad review? Come to find out, was written by a terminated employee to cause harm. read more

The place is run down. I went to ride on the beach with a party of six, myself included, and was shocked to discover that a total of eight horses were crammed into a trailer that was apparently to small to fit them all. Every horse was bloody and shaken up. I told Mindy that it would be fine to rebook the ride for another day, because two of the horses were limping from the incident. She insisted they were fine and we ended up riding the hurt horses. It was horrible! I ended up riding the limping horse and reported Mindy for animal abuse. I'm never going there again! read more
