Dave and Heidi are wonderful! Been taking lessons there for a long time and we appreciate it very much. The farm is very tranquil, has plenty of shade when hot, but it does get a little muddy when it rains (nothing a proper set of boots can't handle). There are several riding areas and 1 covered arena with proper lights for evening sessions. Heidi is super wonderful and it shows how much she loves the horses. I contacted Cavallo Riding Center in April to host my daughter's Quinceañera. We needed a larger space with a rustic feel that also had a touch of elegance. The owner, Dave, walked us through the area where we would be hosting the party, which featured two stunning chandeliers and string lights throughout. There was plenty of parking, two bathrooms (one he built himself, right down to the toilet paper holder!), a bar, and tables and chairs included. I already thought this was a steal, but what Dave offered was even more valuable: a welcoming space for our family and friends to gather, celebrate, and enjoy this special occasion. I had arranged for our party decor to be delivered on Friday and picked up on Monday, but I hadn't communicated that to Dave. When I mentioned the plans during the week of the party, there was a conflict with the drop-off. Instead of letting me worry, he went out of his way to drive to the party warehouse to ensure everything went smoothly. On the morning of the event, Dave was already hard at work, having set up the tables and chairs for us. The barn was clean, prepared, and ready to go. We had a special surprise for our daughter's grand entrance that included a horse. Dave made sure it went off without a hitch by coordinating with the owners to guide them in through the back, ensuring no one would see them. Dave was helpful, reliable, and a true gentleman. Throughout the evening, whenever we forgot something or needed extras, he was right there to lend a hand--providing extra ice chests, a knife to cut limes, a pitcher for the Palomas, and extra forks for the cake, just to name a few. Mistreated my horse while she was boarding there. Poor quality hay and often times she would not be fed.

My son has been coming to Cavallo horse riding for lessons for over a year now. The owner Dave is very nice and friendly. My son also has a wonderful experience with the horse instructor Heidi and looks forward to riding horses every single time. Heidi is very knowledgeable with her horses and all the horses are well behaved. I can tell that all the horses are taken care of here and very well loved. The facility is big and nice with lots of places to go for walks and ride with the horses. If you have more than one person riding, Heidi usually has an aide to help. Your kids will also be well protected and safe with helmets provided. This place is a real gem in Tracy! I highly recommend everyone to come here for lessons! read more

We read reviews before going and decided to ignore them in lieu of having the experience for ourselves. It was a smart decision. We met with Heidi, the horse trainer, and had such a wonderful time. Although it was our first time it most certainly won't be our last. It wasn't a flashy area and I'm glad. They are located in the back of Tracy, farm country, and it reflects that in every way. They usually ask you to contact other trainers. I had 2 lessons with a trainer name Heidi and didn't have a good experience so i stopped going after that. There is no one at the front desk. I get there on time for my lessons and i start walking around in the field looking for my trainer. Finally found her after few mins. What u get for 1hr horse back riding lessons. My appointment was at 11am for 1hr at $65/hr We spent 10mins selecting/looking for the horse. 10 mins saddling up and brushing it 10mins of walking with the horse towards the field where they hold lessons. 10mins of the horse laying around in the sand getting used to the environment. Finally i sat on the horse we go around for about 15mins do a few small loops around the cone and that was it time is done. She asked me to park tve horse and come back for the next lessons. I come back for 2nd lesson. same drill. Spent about 30min on the horse the next day and didnt get anywhere. Instructions were confusing. She kept getting frustrated. So i looked for another facility. read more

We became first time horse owners and are also leasing a horse We found out leasing or renting a horse is different at every place so read the forms. The location is very tranquil along the delta with a lot of room. Lessons and stabling a horse is really nice there. I've been bringing my 11- year old kid here for riding lessons for about a year. I really enjoy bringing her there, and she loves it as well. Our instructor is a very calm and patient person who seems to really enjoy being there and loves her job. The place itself is a quaint and relaxing ranch. There's an almost soothing atmosphere which quickly carries me out of the hustle and bustle of daily life. My child gets a very fulfilling and immersive experience -- she doesn't just ride the horses there, but learns to look for and care for them, even building an emotional attachment with them. They are also very flexible with the scheduling of lessons, which means a lot to me as a working mother. 0 stars. I took my kids here for riding lessons. The first time which was over a year ago we signed some paperwork. And upon returning, nothing was taken into consideration. Fine. Didn't think too much of it. They brought a pony to a child who had no experience riding and the pony would trot and act crazy. I asked if this was safe and the "instructor" said yes. Big mistake. This pony ended up knocking my daughter off of her back and I thought my daughter hurt her arm. For my older daughter who is 7 they chose a horse who was calm but would not get along with the horse I was riding. As a instructor she should have known that. And she did I assume because she did make a comment about it at the beginning -something about it's interesting to see the two horse together. Odd. In hindsight, they were doing so many unprofessional things. she was allowing the kids to "pick" the horses. Not a good idea in my opinion if the kids aren't experienced riders. As an instructor she should recommend horses that are calm and experienced with children. If not she could have said she doesn't teach children. So unprofessional. Not to mention the 3 stray dogs running around approaching you as you are trying to focus on the lesson. My biggest mistake was trusting them with the kids. We will be taking our business elsewhere. Somewhere professional. Cleaner. More organized. read more

--I have to say, since I started coming here my mental health has gone from depressed to blessed. The stay at home order really did a number on my state of mind, but Cavallo Riding Center has helped turn that around. --The owner Dave is a wonderful guy who really cares about the horses here as well as the patrons. On several occasions he will stop his ranch chores just to mingle and converse. --I have only been coming out here for a couple months and so I cannot really speak for before that but I did notice there were some bad reviews. Im not sure if the owner hired new trainers but they are all nice and very inviting. --I have to admit the trainers seem to be a little swamped when it comes to students, but after talking with the owner I was assured another trainer is coming. --If you're looking for some fresh air, and to enjoy your summer outside with a little vitamin D on your face, this is the place to come! read more

Wow, what a great week for my 4 grandkids. Ages 8 to 12. We put them in the summer camp at the Cavallo Riding Center. There was horseback riding lessons, arts and crafts and swimming and just a whole lot of fun. They met new friends and now they all want their own horse, lol. Their teacher, Heide, was so kind and patient with them. Its such a great opportunity for kids to get off the electronics and get outdoors. I totally recommend this camp for the kids. Everything we have experienced here has been positive and I highly recommend Cavallo Riding Center. My daughter is currently taking riding lessons with Heidi and we couldn't be more pleased. She is a new rider, is making great progress and always looks forward to her lessons. Heidi is very knowledgeable, connected and explains things in an easy to understand and remember manner. Heidi uses words to explain what is being taught and also personally demonstrates what she is teaching. Heidi gets to know both horse and rider and works with both. Heidi is always on time and communicates very well. She makes her students want to come and ride and they always leave with a smile and feeling of accomplishment. They run the place as a friendly family farm that anyone can visit and enjoy the horses. Dave, the owner, is very nice and welcoming and Heidi is an excellent teacher. There is great flexibilty to schedule a lesson when they have availability to accommodate your needs. Do not expect a professional program but a flexible, friendly, and family oriented operation. ZERO ZERO ZERO! It's taken me a long time to decide to write a review on here, but if I can save someone the trouble of wasting their money and time at this establishment, I think its best to do so. I have been going to Cavallo Riding Center for a long time (almost 20 years now), having boarded horses there and taken lessons some time ago. As a boarder, I HIGHLY recommend you look elsewhere. I have had items stolen from the property, (mind you I locked my things up consistently), in which I asked the owner about, and his response was "oh, yeah I just had about 6 saddles stolen a couple weeks ago", with again, ZERO care towards the fact that my $250 item was stolen, and NO communication whatsoever to his boarders that theft was happening on the premises ( I asked around to see if anyone was aware of the saddles being stolen). There was also another time that I believed one of the young, out of control, unsupervised, kids may have been taking my horse out when I was not there, (I believe I was incorrect looking back) but out of fear of this I decided to put a lock on my stall to prevent any issues. Apparently the ranch hand is too lazy to be able to clean a stall by climbing over a fence. I was texted by the owner that "so-and-so was having a difficult time cleaning my horse's stall due to the lock." I expressed to him my distrust with the people living on his property, in which I received zero response and from that moment forth my stall was no longer cleaned (MIND YOU THIS IS INCLUDED IN BOARD) so not only was I overpaying for this dump, but now i wasn't receiving the services guaranteed because slight inconvenience to his stablehand. Along with all of this, my horse is a very easy keeper (he holds his weight easily without me having to worry about it), but soon enough I began to notice that he was starting to lose weight (even with nightly supplemental feedings). They are highly underfeeding (shitty hay also might I add). Needless to say, I was a long time boarder here, but seeing the changes over the years I have to say this place has gone no where but down, and I hope it is closed sometime soon as the maintenance, upkeep, and sheer lack of care for the horses (well, all animals, FEED YOUR DOGS MAN) is pathetic and worrisome. One last thing I will add, this place is absolutely overrun by kids with no parental supervision. It was rare to have a nice easy ride without little kids running their horses like crazy with zero arena etiquette. Needless to say, I am GLAD to be out and will never be going back. I know this was a harsh review, and I don't like doing this, but there are some things that just need to be brought to light. read more

My son has had some awesome lessons here He's learned so much about horses and riding. He really enjoyed coming to the kids camp, The instructors are so nice and knowledgeable, especially deana she got my boy from being afraid of the animals to being excited to get on and go. Theres alot of different lesson horses and ponies to choose from, and also some other farm animals for to kids to visit and pet and they all appear to be well taken care of and well fed and they have tack and helmets available for the lessons. And the boarders get their own tack spaces. I love that theres 2 big arenas and excersise pens available and one of the arenas is covered with lights so we can still come ride even when the weather isn't great, also you can go out on the property and go on a trail ride, we are very happy we found this place! I see there's some bad reviews from a few years back but I think this place has been great they must have gotten rid of the bad apples read more

It used to be an old dairy farm that's been converted into a horse farm. There are many different stalls, paddocks and a pasture to choose from. The stalls and paddocks all have automatic waterers. They feed oat hay in the AM and nice green alfalfa mix in the Pm so the horses get a good variety. There's a large outdoor arena, a covered arena and 2 round pens. There are also lots of routes to ride outside the farm (not true trails but they're still wonderful to ride). It's very quiet out here with almost no traffic. The facility is not fancy but the environment is family oriented. Lots of kids riding around and everyone I've met is courteous. Dave the owner is a very nice guy who genuinely cares. He even drove an hour away at the drop of a hat to transport my new horse from an auction when my pre-arranged transportor bailed on me. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is a DUMP. Moldy hay, dirty, broken fences. Owner has a hay field but gives his boarders the sloppy seconds because he saves the good hay for paying customers. Not to mention there are stallions on the property. Without any extra safeguards. Owner doesn't care about your horses, and will steal your belongings if HE believes you owe him any money. He is also psychotic and a harassing individual that is frightening when he gets mad. He will kidnap your horse and sell it at auction. This is their "policy," when it comes to money, or what he believes is right. It really is like a horror movie. Please, do you and your horse a favor and STAY AWAY. Do not take your children, they will get hurt. Do not take your horse, it will colic from the bad hay or be injured. It could possibly die as well, considering he has absolutely no regard for the animals. I saw many horses in terrible condition at this place. Extremely underweight, open wounds, etc. It is not worth it. There are other ranches in this area that are safe and clean and won't cause you to lose money or your horse. read more

Please don't take the 3 bad comments as how it is for everyone. The owner is great. The below lady who had the throughbred never came out to see him. I had to get Dave to call her so his feet could get done. She did not come to check on him at all and the horse was very bummed without interaction. The other people that left did not give notice they were leaving so of course the owner was mad. A lot of people don't pay there bills and then leave. This is a business. As far as the horses getting hurt the facility is fine. The owners do not understand horses or horses in pastures. The people who have left need to understand that horses get hurt and it is the way it is. The stable is great. We have a great group of people who board here. The person, Nicole, who the below person says has no knowledge has taken daily lessons by a professional trainer and is very good now. There is also a new trainer at the stables who is excellent with kids. We love this place. read more

Not only do they not have a clue about how to care for horses, this ranch is full of drama and problems. After 2 good trainers left, a boarder who is a beginner rider and doesn't have horse knowledge named Nicole has taken over saddle clue and is "training" horses.. but is actually ruining them. She works lame horses who are clearly in pain and have swollen legs. This place was good for awhile but in the last couple months it has fallen to pieces and is a complete nightmare for your horse. read more
