--- Cowboy Trail Rides - Tracy, CA I grew up riding horses, but it's been years since I've had regular access to them, so paid trail rides are my way to get back in the saddle once in a while. A few years ago, I went on a trail ride with another company in Fair Oaks, CA, and honestly, it was such a letdown. So this time, I wanted to find a place that would actually meet my expectations--and wow, did I ever find it with Cowboy Trail Rides in Tracy! Our group of nine (ages 12 to 67!) had a mix of total beginners and experienced riders. Lucas, the owner, made sure each of us got the right horse for our comfort and skill level. He really puts safety first but still makes sure everyone has fun. The two-hour ride was amazing! We went through open fields, past orchards, tall corn rows, and along peaceful water canals. The scenery was beautiful, and everyone had a great time. Some of us walked, some trotted--Lucas made sure everyone could ride at their own pace. He chatted with us the whole way, shared fun facts about the horses, and kept a close eye on everyone to make sure we were comfortable. All of the horses were super well-trained (Lucas trains them himself), and you can tell how much he cares about them. He even took a bunch of photos and videos for us, which was such a nice touch. By the end of the ride, we were already planning our next one--maybe a birthday trail ride! Lucas mentioned he also does weekday and evening rides (one even includes a Starbucks stop!) and overnight camping are in the works. Honestly, the whole experience was everything I hoped for and more. Lucas goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a safe, fun, and memorable time. We tipped him for his awesome hospitality, and of course, the horses got their carrots! If you're thinking about going on a trail ride, I can't recommend Cowboy Trail Rides enough. Lucas is GREAT. We have done the horse riding as a family but in addition, my son has gone a few times already by himself with Lucas' group. If you have a child with special needs, I would highly recommend it as well. Horses are very therapeutic as long as your child is not scared of horses. read more

I have been to a lot of stables and this one is absolutely phenomenal. Great personal service, especially great with families with young kids! Lucas listens to what each ride wants and accommodates their desires! If you want it trot or Gallup he works that in too. If you want to walk or just have the horses lee for the young children he will do that also! He takes pictures along the way and then airdrops them. So great!! Prices are very reasonable! Went on the night trail ride last night and wow, what an unforgettable experience! It was my birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend it. The ride itself was magical, the group was full of friendly and interesting people, and the peaceful nighttime atmosphere made it feel like something out of a movie. We kicked things off with a fun drive-thru stop at Taco Bell (because why not?), and on the way home, we were lucky enough to see the Dragon capsule pass through the sky--absolutely surreal! My friend and I went for a 2 hour ride a few weeks ago. Lucas was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and paired us with the proper horses depending on your experience. He answered all our questions and took a lot of pictures for us as we were riding. It was so peaceful and the sunset was fantastic. He took us along part of the aqueduct which was cool. All in all it was a great experience and very reasonably priced. He allows kids 5 years and up. Definitely would recommend!! Can't wait to go back again. read more
