In making the decision to purchase a horse for our daughter and myself, we were recommended Socotur by friends who also purchased a horse from him a few years ago. We explained what we needed and he not only sold us a great horse for my daughter, but helped me find one that was more my speed! LOL! I purchased a horse from Raymond Cannady who claims to be the a trainer and sells horses in July 2023 - immediately after I purchased my horse, everyone noticed that she was not walking right and called her lame. When I purchased her Mr. Cannady said if I ever have any issues with her to let him know and he will take her back and I trusted this man who claimed to be so experienced in horse training and selling horses. I trusted this man that he was selling me a great horse - only to find out he was deceitful about her and her health. My trainer examined my horse and told me that she was sure there some issues with him and I contacted Mr. Cannady to come look at the horse with my trainer to go over what she thought was wrong with her - I am not as experienced to know what was wrong and be able to identify the things they saw - he agreed and after two plus weeks of trying to get him to the stables, he did agree that she had some minor issues but claimed it must have happened after I took possession of her. I emailed him and told him that I wanted him to take her back as I am not knowledgeable enough to keep a horse that might have some issues where she may not be able to be ridden nor did I want the expense of her if I cannot ride her. His response to me was the most foul and disrespectful email I have ever received from anyone - he said it was all my fault and that she was fine when I bought her, even though I had her approx 2 months at that point. So, in order to make sure I was accurate in my trainers observation, we took her to a vet for a full exam and X-rays so I could know what was wrong with her. As soon as we got the vet's office, he immediately recognized her and said he has had her in his clinic before - he pulled her records for us to see less that one week prior to me purchasing her, she was in the same clinic, xrays and a full exam was done - she was found to have a lot of damage to her front left leg and the xrays and report were not good - he gave her a 4 out of 10 soundness which isn't the worst but definitely not what I wanted in a horse and not for the price I paid for her the point of my review is to let people know the type of horse seller he is, so no-one has to go through what I have gone through with him and with the sweet horse - Do your research and get any horse you plan on buying from him checked out thoroughly before you buy - not fair to the buyer or the horse.

They not only teach riding technique, but expect the riders to help with grooming and tacking the horse. My daughter is thriving here and practices "posting" at home. They're also very good about safety- the helmet I bought my daughter didn't fit right and they took the time to adjust and fit it, and finally ended up letting her borrow one they had until I can get to the store and get a proper fitting helmet. As a momma who knows nothing about horses, I am more than appreciative. I bring along my 1 yr old to the lessons, and everyone at the ranch is very kind and welcoming.

I started out riding their sweetest school horse (Star) and now riding an Advanced level Selle Francais Warmblood (Leya, who was on track to go to the eventing Olympics, and is owned by the barn owner, Sarah), competing consecutively is meter classes at A-rated shows this past summer. I even now own a German Riding Pony that I've been training, and he has the best cute and quirky little personality. Highland has a great atmosphere and some of my closest friends have been made there. Everyone I've ever met at Highland has been kind and friendly, and (something very helpful when you first start out riding or at a new barn) always ready to help. There is always someone around, whether it be an instructor or another student, who is willing to help with whatever you need help with. The instructors also listen to your goals and try to put you on horses and doing exercises that will bring you closer to your goals. Highland's horses are also amazing, usually a little older but who have had competition experience in the past, so they know what they're doing. All of these horses have great, friendly personalities that make riding even more fun, anywhere from sweet and shy to funny and friendly. Highland also has some goats on property, and when the babies are born (usually every spring or every other spring) they are just so cute to watch grow up, and to play with. I would not be the rider I am today without Highland.

(Ages…read more1-11) Pros: -They helped set up/clean up -Coaches were friendly -Up to however many kids you wanted -Reasonable price for party Cons: -No real communication between owner Jenny and coaches (coach was unaware of size of party) -Lots of waiting around for instruction -no water break -kids were told to not go in foam pit -not organized The kids were kind of kept away from the foam pit. Almost like the foam pit was sacred space. There were 3 coaches but only 1 really giving instruction. So instead of 3 groups of kids it was just 1 big group. Lots of waiting around for instruction. They played hide and seek for most of the time. I had a few kids come tell me they wanted to play in the foam pit and use the foam pads but were denied. Also, no water breaks. The older kids told me after that they were denied water and told to wait until it was time to eat which was another 30 min later. I had great communication with Jenny up until after the party when I went to give her feedback. This is the text I sent her," Good morning Jenny, thank you for letting us have my kids birthday party at your gym. Just a few things before I forget. There was a lot of waiting around and definitely not enough free play. I understand it was a large group but this should have been thought through and organized to accommodate our group size. My deciding factor to come to this gym was the gym itself and half of the time the kids were waiting around for instruction and playing hide and seek. Also, there were no water breaks. We had a few kids who asked for a water and they were told to wait until it was time to eat, which didn't happen for another 30 min. All and in all most kids had a great time.
