I have had a very pleasant experience with Perma-Seal and their workers. From my first initial call to request an estimate, until the job was completed, I received nothing but professional services. Due to unforseen circumstances, I had to make some changes and when I woke to Lisa from their office, she was always helpful and pleasant. A little history about my situation. I had about 18 different individuals/companies come look at my basement. One, only ONE gentleman said he believed I had "static pressure" and suggested that I call Perma-Seal. I decided it would be the last company I would deal with. Most individuals were not sure of the problem and made different suggestions, which I had already tried. That ALL changed when Perma-Seal did their assessment. Greg Johnson, the gentlemen who came to my house for the inspection, was very knowledgeable. Greg, was the first company that informed me that my problem was due to hydrostatic pressure. Because I had done the research once the previous gentleman had expressed his concern, I was sure that was the problem. However, I did not mention it to Greg and let him do the assessment. After carefully reviewing the inside and the outside of the house, Greg not only spoke to me about the problem, he was detailed and even showed me a video of what was occurring. I knew that he was experienced in this line of work and decided to trust Perma-Seal to make the repairs. Before the actual repairs began, Perma-Seal sent their electrician, John Walker. John had to do the electrical work for the Sump Pump. John was professional, attentive and prompt. On the first day the big job, which consisted of breaking the concrete floor, Perma-Seal sent another team of workers, Christian, Jesus, Dakota, a gentlemen whose name I cannot remember, and Ali. During the three days that they worked on my home, Christian's team was on time and always prepared. They were professional, well organized, worked very hard, and even took the time to clean the areas they worked on. I have worked with and on numerous teams. Very few times, have I seen individuals work "in sync." Together, they flowed and made their back-breaking job look easy. Kudos to Christian and his team. I am completely satisfied with Perma-Seal and their workers. If I know anyone who has a problem with their basement, my first and ONLY recommendation would be Perma-Seal. So if you have a problem with your basement, make your FIRST call to Perma-Seal. read more

We really weren't sure what to expect as we've never had this type of work done before. We immediately felt much better about the process we were getting ready to embark on after our initial meeting with our Sales Consultant, Ray Meier. He was extremely knowledgeable about basement water problems, pointed out where we were having issues, thoroughly explained our options and gave us a recommendation that we felt very comfortable with. It was interesting that he didn't try to up-sell us on "add-ons" that we didn't need. I must commend Ray for his integrity. If the other Sales Consultants that work for Perma-Seal have the same level of integrity and concern, the company will only continue to find success based on its reputation. Our relationship with Ray didn't end after signing the contract - he personally showed up during the installation to ensure we were comfortable with the installation team, the process and to answer any questions we had. It is evident that Ray takes great pride in providing outstanding customer service. It's hard to find people today that place such a high value on customer satisfaction. The installation team was fantastic! Perma-Seal does not hire outside contractors to provide services only trained employees perform Perma-Seal work. They showed up ten minutes early and began working immediately. The four gentlemen assigned to our job were polite, professional, highly skilled, dedicated workers. We couldn't believe the speed in which they completed the job. They did an excellent job in sealing off the area to keep dust to a minimum in the rest of our house. They even hung visqueen around all of the belongings that remained in the basement to reduce the amount of cleaning we would have when the job was done. This type of work is very physically demanding, having to break up concrete and dispose of it in five gallon buckets. These guys worked very hard. We had to convince them to take a break after they had gotten all of the concrete up out of the basement. They were very neat and we were happily surprised that they made sure there were no concrete remnants on the drive or in the garage when the job was done. The team supervisor made sure he took my husband down to inspect the job, reviewed what had been done and answered any questions. We will highly recommend Perma-Seal to any of our friends and neighbors that have basement water problems. We had a wonderful experience. read more

Dave was GREAT as our Perma-Seal representative in Lake Zurich on July 5, 2017. The key was that Dave took the time to properly identify the water problem in our finished basement. It was a real mystery to us, and to him. But it didn't deter Dave. We went outside, and inside. Then we went outside, and inside again -- several times with lots of conversation about what might be the source of the problem. Dave dug in -- literally, on his hands and knees behind a boxwood -- all while talking through with me what might be the problem as the mystery continued. He suggested we turn the hose on the area along the problem area. Still, we saw nothing leaking water when we went downstairs. At this point, Dave still didn't know what the problem was, but he didn't give me a bunch of jive. He was honest! He didn't know, so we continued to work it out together. Dave suggested that I carve out a small area of my drywall -- which would have to be removed, regardless -- so we could solve the mystery. He didn't have to do that. A consultant from another company might have just said: "You need to hire a guy to strip your drywall so we can see the basement wall and then call us back in a week or two." But Dave was personally invested in figuring out what was causing the leak. So I grabbed my reciprocating saw and ripped the irrelevant drywall open in the areas Dave thought would reveal the problem ... and there it was! Two tiny-but-persistent leaks causing my carpet to dampen every time it rained hard. What I appreciated is that we solved the problem atogether. I obviously wanted to find out what was going on -- that's why I sawed into my basement drywall -- but Dave also wouldn't have been happy unless he knew what the problem was. And he didn't treat me like a guy who doesn't know what's actually going on. From the beginning with Dave, I knew I wasn't dealing with a faceless company, but a person who wanted to actually solve my problem and make my finished basement water-free. We've scheduled Perma-Seal to fix our issue, and I am confident it will be fixed permanently. While we're still waiting for the job to be started, let alone completed, I cannot recommend Perma-Seal more highly. If Dave's professionalism and eagerness to serve his customer and solve their basement water problem is typical of Perma-Seal folks, you can't call on a better company. read more

This review is based on my interaction with Jeff Kowalik who is a Certified Foundation Consultant for Perma-Seal. We made an appointment to address the water seepage issues we have been having in our basement and he was prompt for the original appointment and quick to respond to any questions we had through our process to install an inside perimeter tile system with a foundation liner and sump pit with a sump pump with a back up battery pump. Jeff was knowledgeable and very thorough in assessing our waterproofing needs and a pleasure to work with. Our installation cost was $10,755 but that was over $2,000 less than U.S. Waterproofing had wanted to charge for the same system without the foundation liner. Jeff kept us posted on the status of our project over period of almost 10 weeks between signing the contract and the completed installation. He also showed up on the first of the 2 day installation to check in with the work crew and to see if I had any questions. I would also like to add a review about Roberto Padilla who was the supervisor for the work crew installing my basement perimeter drainage system. He was part of a crew of 6 on this job. The crew worked very quickly, and expertly and were quite clean for the nature of the work that this entailed. I will add that it rained quite heavily during the 2 days of this job. While the project wasn't complete on the first day he had it functionally working at the end of the first day which prevented a seepage problem that certainly would have occurred with the volume of rain during the install. Roberto was able to address a couple my personal needs in completing the project with regards to a floor drain the area of their work and also for the termination of the sump discharge. I was pleasantly surprised to see the installation of a couple cleanout access points for future maintenance of the system. Roberto reminded me that someone from Perma-Seal will return in a year to inspect the system and assure proper drainage to the sump pit. He and his crew were also friendly and polite. I do feel that while expensive we got our money's worth with the customer service, quality of the components & installation and the transferable lifetime warrantee. I will be recommending Perma-Seal to any friends and neighbors who have basement waterproofing needs. read more

I had problems with water seeping onto my basement (from the cove joints) floor for about 25 years and was getting weary of using mops, wet vacs, fans, etc. I used to dread rainy forecasts. The final straw came last year (2020) when water again began seeping into my finished den even though it was not raining. The water table was simply too high in my area. The water started coming in -- and would NOT stop. Over the years, water would seep in for a day or so after a good rain. But this time it was coming in without rainfall. It started on Jan. 12, 2020 and it continued seeping in CONSTANTLY for 100 consecutive days. I tried, in vain, to place about a dozen sandbags in the area where it seemed to be infiltrating behind my furniture. This obviously did not work and I ended up just placing the sandbags a couple feet apart, across the floor, so I could use them as "steppingstones" to get to my easy chair, computer, etc, without getting my feet soaked. I finally began taking quotes on having a French Drain installed. The best price, and most honest analysis, came from Perma-Seal and I hired them to do the job. They arrived on DAY 100 of the consecutive days of seepage. The seepage ended as they began the installation. And, sorry about the all-caps here, MY ENTIRE BASEMENT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DRY EVER SINCE. This includes all the rainstorms since then, and all the 2021 snow that is melting outside. I marvel when I hear the evil water dropping into my sump pit and being whisked away without ever seeing miy basement floor. The basement all the way around, including my den and utility side, is clean, mold-free, remodeled AND has much cleaner air. Simply put, a French Drain system works VERY well and Perma-Seal is the best company for the job. My certified consultant, Mitch Roadruck, gave me a very honest assessment and a price that pleasantly surprised me after I had received much more complicated -- and expensive -- proposals from other companies. He even helped arrange financing to fund the project. Needless to say, I am a VERY big fan of Perma-Seal and have recommended them to others who have leaky basement floors. read more

We had an absolutely wonderful experience (or as wonderful as it can get with having to use them!). We are remodeling our basement and with the hard rain we have had in the last month we were getting puddles of water in our basement. Of course you don't want to have to use Perma-Seal but hidden bummer factors do occur. Customer Service told me that the first appointment for an estimate would be a few weeks, but the wonderful woman on the other end said she would make some calls and get back to me. SHE DID, a sales rep by the name of Ryan D. said if I could be available he'd be willing to come the next day - I changed my schedule and made myself available! He came down my basement and was hesitant but brutally honest with us and said if he couldn't find the cracks on the outside he'd have to look for them on the inside - did we mention at the ending stage of our remodel aka the drywall was up and paint was already dry - so it is pretty!! He spent extra time and found the three compromised areas without having to touch our new walls/ remodel! Ryan was wonderful with talking us through the price breakdown and what would be happening when the crew comes to seal our spots. There were multiple options and thank goodness for financing, however it wasn't an unreasonable price (it was a hidden bummer cost/expense) and with the money being spent on the remodel we couldn't allow it do be ruined after a few hard rain falls. We scheduled the install date and I received a reminder call the day before as well as a check in from Ryan. The morning of the crew coming from Downers Grove called to let me know what time they'd be arriving! Ryan even came by to check that we were happy with everything and that it was going smoothly! They were efficient, personable and professional, they updated me throughout their install and had me check everything before they cleaned up! I am no longer worried when mother nature decides to have another hard rain, if anything I'm excited to enjoy it in my newly remodeled/ sealed basement! I wish I was in a position to actually review their work, but they blew off an appointment I made a week in advance, effectively ignoring three messages my wife and I left. Making it worse, my situation was dire: One week before the heavy floods hit the Chicagoland area - during a more minor, but still significant storm - I noticed water seeping into my basement. Tracing it back from the floor, after chipping away some drywall, a crack in the foundation was revealed. I immediately called Permaseal, which said it was booked in the immediate future, but could fit me in the following Friday between 1 and 3. The rain had tapered off at that point and, now knowing there was a problem, I was at least able to be proactive in limiting the damage, so I took the appointment. Just my luck - in a house I had just closed on four weeks prior - unprecedented area flooding takes place the day before Permaseal is due in. I spend the day/night swapping out towels, building a barrier in the affected area to limit the overflow and biding my time until they can come fill the crack. I take the next day off work, and wait... and wait... and wait. Nothing. My wife calls twice, leaving messages both times. The following morning, I call again, leaving a message and explaining the situation - which now entails both flooding and a blatant lack of customer service. The appointment was for Friday... it's now Sunday, and I still haven't heard a peep and there's still a crack in the foundation just looking for some water to bring into my new home. I'm sure the excuse will mirror the message on their answering machine: something along the lines of, "we are experiencing a high volume of requests due to the severity of recent weather." That's understandable if you're someone who hadn't made a request yet... not if the company decides to go AWOL after having an appointment with a client and leaving them hanging during a time of their most critical need. read more

I would NOT recommend Permaseal because we had a Sales Rep come inspect our basement last summer. We were looking forward to not having any water in the basement and actually use it. We were told since we had cracks in the foundation, they recommended to install Interior Drainage Tiles with the Sump Pump and Battery Back Up since it was hydrostatic pressure. After getting it installed in October 2012 we were glad to get a good night sleep and not worry about the basement. Fast forward to April 18th, 2013, Illinois had a severe flood. We were ready to test the basement with the amount of rain predicted. Over the night it seemed to be fine, our alarm we had went off in the well and it over flowed because the 1/2 horse power pump "That would keep up with any amount of rain" failed so the water had no were else to go but up and over the wall liner coming in so fast that we had 2 feet of water the first time and had to purchase more sump pumps from Home Depot. After the water drained, it came in again coming up and over the liner for another 2 1/2 feet. We lost everything down there. We made an appointment for Permaseal to inspect the issue for June 1st. So while we waiting over a month for them to come out, we had to take off work everytime it rained because we would worry that we would get water. On May 21st, we had another down pour and again we had more water in the basement. I was looking forward to this inspection to get this fixed. Once June 1st came, all the guy kept saying is the issue is Sewage! IT'S NOT SEWAGE!!!! So they determined for us to PAY $260 to have a camera installed in the drains to make sure it's not Sewage. I am not PAYING for something after i spend $8000 for your product to work. I can NOT get a hold of your customer service ever and they are very rude to begin with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PERMASEAL TO ANYONE!!!! I'm sure US Waterproofing would have done a better job on our basement read more
