SUPER CUTE cafe on the northwest side of the city. A friend and I met up here for an after work coffee date, and we were both so pleasantly surprised. Their tea selection is on point, with their caffeine free options in blue, and their caffeinated options in white. The vanilla rooibos was superb and under $3. Their custom coffee creations were also appealing, so I might be making a before work stop here very, very soon! My favorite part of Perkolator was their staff though. SO KIND. Just so kind. I have heard of Perkolator for a while but I am not a coffee drinker so cafes aren't my thing. Then I heard they also have a great loose tea selection and decided to place an order. The website was super easy to maneuver but I somehow blew it and couldn't figure out how to do the free local delivery for orders of $15 or more so I ended up having to go in. I figured it out for future orders. They have a counter set up right at the door and my order was ready and waiting for me. Great! I am in love with the English Breakfast loose tea. It's going to become a staple in my house. They are only open until 1pm so that's tricky for me with remote learners at home. I definitely need to use free local delivery next time! read more

Their coffee drinks are good and most of their sandwiches are great! The veggie bagel will change your life and I'm a full on carnivore! The reason for the 3 star rating? Their customer service is lacking. What's disappointing is twice within the past few weeks I've been in to pick up online orders and I wasn't greeted or said hello to at all when I walked in and waited in line. Even though there were multiple employees talking amongst themselves. I really want to support local, but I'm on the fence if I'll give them another shot. We'll see. read more

I'm a sucker for a coffee shop. I stopped here after happily by accident one Sunday. There was a poetry reading! What a lovely gem in Portage Park. Highly recommend. I got a coffee with milk and apple turnover and a cold brew can to go. I really thought about the delicious looking bottles of vanilla and lavender flavoring but I didn't think I could get them back home to VA in my carry on. Highly recommend a stop if you're heading west on Irving Park and otherwise in the area. It's a sweet little spot. read more

I am not from Chicago and I yelped this place considering the reviews and it lived up to its stars. Everyone was extremely nice and my breakfast sandwich was made with love. The dining experience is super casual and hipster. You can definitely set up a work area and sit here all morning with a cup of coffee. They sell lunch options if you end up staying a little longer or want to grab a quick bite. There are plenty of outlets so you can charge your devices. Very cute spot and "homey" vibe. Metered street parking is the only issue- could be better if it was free :) I would come here again if I visit Chicago. read more

Roasted: visited this coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon. I really like the overall look and feel of this coffee shop. It's quaint - almost like you are at your grandmas house. It has a room attached called the lounge with books, records and cds for sale. The mismatch decor works with the entire layout here. Barista was friendly and greeted us immediately when we walked in. Was not offered a for here mug and not sure if they even have any as no one sitting in the cafe had one. The barista brought our drinks to us after we sat which I thought was a nice tough. Latte tasted good but was way too hot and sadly lacked any sort of latte art but rather got pretty bubbly foam. Overall though I would come back here. Unroasted: love the vibe this place gives off. The decoration and the side shop brings this place together. The smell of baked bread and the great selection of sandwiches. The staff was friendly enough. My latte was very tasty just too hot. Disappointed that I received it in a to go cup and noticed everyone else had the same. Nonetheless my coffee tasted great. Love this place and would return. Ps no sugar added. read more

If you're like me, then you would definitely dig this place. Kitschy decor, mismatched furniture and creaky wooden floors are my jam so I felt right at home here. Plenty of outlets, which is always a plus if you wanna study or do work. Amazing coffee, food and staff! Love this place for their coffee and carry out options. I've used their weekly delivery service but love popping in for carry out when I can. They offer a good variety of locally baked pastries, donuts, cookies as well as sandwiches and soups. Order ahead through the Odeko app is available too. I love this cafe. I can't recommend this place enough. Delicious coffees and teas. The breakfast sandwiches are oh so good. The best part is I can get one with a gluten free bun. The eggs in these sandwiches are so fluffy. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. If you can't decide on what to get, they will give you great recommendations and help guide you if you are trying to avoid gluten or dairy. This has been my go to coffee shop for the past two months and prefer this to starbucks any day. Today unfortunately the PerkOlator lost a customer. The "barista" (tall male in photo) was unbelievably rude to my wife and I today. I've been trying to convince my wife to give her business to this coffee shop since she's and avid Starbucks patron and after our experience today she stated she will never be back. It's very unfortunate because the food and coffee along with the atmosphere are always great here. Looks like We'll be taking our business back to Starbucks where the customer service is average. I gave two stars because the food and coffee are great, the customer service is terrible and boarder line disrespectful. I placed my order ahead of time at 10:48am and when I arrived at 11:00am they said they were busy and my ticket was the last, so it would be "a long time" before my order would be ready. It took another 30 minutes for them to give me my order. Not only that but when I asked them about my order again they had let it sit there without telling me it was ready. This place is my jam... I've been coming since before their awesome record/book store opened (attached to the coffee shop) and it just keeps getting better. Their breakfast burrito is my favorite, but honestly we like all of the food options. And the drinks are always on point. I like to come here to work or even bring my kids and just sit and read or devour donuts. Seriously, I love everything about this place - it makes me feel good to be there! I love their added outdoor seating and you can always pick up a unique gift that reps the neighborhood or local makers! Perkolator is out of the way from me, but I don't mind driving a bit farther every now and then. I've only been here a handful of times, but every time, the baristas have been welcoming and the vibe has been relaxed and friendly. I have 2 tuxedo cats, so I had to try the tuxedo iced mocha (dark and white chocolate), which was as delightful as my kitties. I've also had the regular iced mocha and brewed coffee (all decaf...I'm too anxious to begin with). Food-wise, I've had the egg and pepper sandwich and the veggie bagel (choice of bagel, I had cheddar), both delicious. The egg sandwich was huge, but I managed to conquer it (and I didn't eat again till almost 6 hours later!). The veggie bagel was filled with yumminess: tomato, basil, red onion, avocado, cucumber and cream cheese. Someone recommended the Mediterranean wrap to me, saying Perkolator's hummus was his favorite, so that'll be the next thing I try. The interior of Perkolator is cute, I love the retro wallpaper and mismatched tables and chairs- it's got an eclectic, homey feel, and there's an adjoining record shop next door (which I haven't checked out yet). Across the street is a shop called Thrift and Thrive, and if you show your Perkolator receipt, you get 10% off, and vice versa, so drive a little bit out of the way and check out both shops! read more

An avocado sandwich straight up and a veggie bagel (gf with bread). Support our local businesses and grab a Genmaicha at Perkolator. I liked how there is a little book shop and records. The cashier I had was very friendly and sweet. She didn't rush me on my order when I decided to get something to eat. I ordered caramel perkiato and carpese panini. Another girl finished my order when I decided to get a panini. It comes with fruir, chips, or pastry. When I asked about where are the pastry, she said in the jars which were unlabeled so I didn't know what was what. In a way. I felt rushed. I just took the chocolate chip cookie which looked most familiar. I sat down and enjoyed my coffee. My panini was very delicous especially how simple it was. Cheese was very oozy and the bread was crunchy. I really enjoyed the food. This place would be nice to catch up with a friend over coffee but it can be little noisy in there during the busy rush hour. If you want to study, I would suggest times before elementary school students are dismissed. read more

Our new favorite local coffee shop! Owner is very personable and we've met him working at a few of the summer farmer's market throughout the NW side. This place reminds me of the coffee shops you find at wicker park. There's a used bookstore/records store attached to it and a bunch of local artist work for sale. I love that they're somewhat green with their plastic use. They don't give a straw or lid automatically. We usually get the cold brew and iced vanilla latte. Both very good! read more
