I don't have high expectations for a Perkins usually, so when we ventured off to a Sunday brunch with the family, I was just along for the ride. Plenty of parking available outside in a shared lot with a nearby strip mall. The interior of the space is quite clean, and decorated like every other Perkins. The staff was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people, but our orders came out decently quick for a table of 6. The food wasn't the best. I ordered the potato pancake plate, which came out way over done. I basically had to drown it in sour cream to make it edible. I had some of my partner's biscuits and gravy, which was much better, so they don't mess up everything on the menu ;) Don't go in with high hopes and you won't be disappointed! Stopped for breakfast at this popular chain restaurant. I've been here many times. This location is open and inviting and CLEAN, unlike some other Perkins (I'm looking at you, Fridley....). Waitress was attentive right away. Today I tried the Country Sausage Biscuit Breakfast . Requested hash browns and bacon to both be crispy, and the cooks delivered on this! Biscuits were surprisingly fluffy, so I enjoyed that very much. The only negatives were my over easy eggs were over (one quite a bit) and the gravy was just meh, tasted like it came out of a can. I'll go back to the pancakes or Belgian waffle next time as those are usually spot on every time. read more

Omelette was not right from my build an omelette. My husband's favorite we not right and the has browns weren't even cooked through. The potatoes were crunchy. Our pancakes had chocolate remnants from what we gathered was a previous cook on pancakes. The coffee carafe wasn't very clean either. The only reason this Blaine Perkins is even getting 1 star is because our server (Daniel) was awesome. Something has happened to this location which used to be 5 star in my opinion. A friend and I went there for lunch on 8/6 around 12:45p. We waited a good 15 minutes for the hostess to show up even though there were only 4-5 tables or booths with customers and no one else waiting. She had to clean up a dirty booth, which took another 5 minutes. My friend and I each ordered the classic eggs Benedict. As stated on the menu, it came with ham (instead of traditional Canadian bacon).but it was filled with gristle. The English Muffin was so hard we had to use a steak knife to saw through it A LOT. Dining at any Perkins is a always a roll of the dice. They are all time worn with dirty carpets. This one is bad. Snippy waitress, takes order and and someone else serves. I ordered meatloaf, what a disappointment. Was microwaved and with powdered potatoes and a lump of supposed meat in center. Taste was terrible, she never stopped back and asked how is the food. She finally came by and I asked for extra gravy so I could choke this crap down. That took 5 minutes for a tablespoon of gravy. Then she leaves the check with a $.99 up charge on the gravy. Her comment was she just works here and management tells her. She offered to get a manager and i opted instead she got no tip. It would have been a baby manager anyway. Ate at the Blaine Perkins Monday night and the food was great, I had the classic eggs benedict with has browns and bowl of fruit and asked for lots of hollandaise sauce and they were very generous with an entire berry bowl size of extra sauce, NUMMY! Hashbrowns were done perfect and the fruit was fresh. My girlfriend ordered the salmon with teriyaki and it came with 2 sides, she had a salad and broccoli and she said it was one of the better dishes of salmon that she has had in awhile, that's pretty good being I think of Perkins more of a breakfast place. Came in on Father's Day for supper. Jeremy was extremely friendly. He kept our drinks full and was very engaging. He took our order right away and our food came out so fas. This was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. I ordered a French toast platter, and it tasted as if someone had dumped an entire pound of salt into it. The platter came with bacon and eggs, but neither was any better. The eggs were unappetizing and hard to even look at, while the bacon was so overcooked it felt like chewing on rocks--I didn't even know bacon could get that crispy. The service was equally abysmal. Our water glasses were empty for 90% of the meal and only refilled after we had finished eating. To make matters worse, the waiter spilled water on me, adding to an already miserable experience. The ambiance was just as unpleasant. The restaurant was cold and unwelcoming--literally and figuratively. The building itself was in desperate need of repairs, with ripped seats, scratched-up bathroom walls, and holes everywhere. To top it off, staff were unfriendly and only seemed interested in being polite when it came time for a tip. Overall, this was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. read more

We had an early dinner at Perkins in Blaine yesterday. It was a great experience from the hostess to the waitress, and the food. The hostess, Kim, was very friendly and Kristine, our waitress,went the extra mile to make sure we were pleased. our food arrived promptly, and what a meal. my husband had their roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn. The food was hot, tasty, and he said the neef with peas and carrots was so tender. i had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy, and grilled asparagus. The serving of meatloaf had to be a half pound, and was like homemade, tasty, and very filling. The asparagus was grilled to perfection. There are several Perkins that we have eaten at, and the Blaine and Elk River are exceptional. read more

Perkins has an incredibly varied menu, is consistently pretty good, and the prices are reasonable. I eat here (the Blaine location) once a month with a group of former co-workers. Our group size is usually about 12 people. Perkins does a good job in having the size table we need and the order-taking and serving has been excellent. There is plenty of hot coffee and people are happy with the food. However, the real reason for this review is to rant against add-on charges that are so popular with restaurants these days. Perkins came up with a new one and it's called "Supply Chain Surcharge." This supposedly is because it's more difficult for them to get ingredients. I HATE nickel and dime charges and feel strongly that the food prices should reflect all of the costs that affect the restaurant. I don't want to pay for the meal, then have someone decide upon the tip, decide I should pay for health benefits, include a "employee retention charge" (I didn't make that up), and now a Supply Chain Surcharge. Holy Hannah. I think the price listed for any item (restaurants and retail stores) should include everything including sales tax, downtown entertainment tax, and all of these new creative (usually non-negotiable surcharges). Wouldn't it be nice to see a price of $10.99 for an item and know that it actually will cost you $10.99? What a concept. Then you could decide how much of a tip you would like to add on the entire amount. (Receipts that "suggest" 20%, 30%, and 35% are presumptuous and tip jars for places without service is just begging. read more

Pretty disappointed, it was busy, which is normal for a Sunday. They warned us that it would be about 30 mins for food once we ordered. We ordered and waited over an hour for our food while 4 other tables around us ordered after us and got their food first. They have 0 vegan options. There is dairy/egg in everything. And to top it off, my 10 month old nephew was with me. They ended up comping our meals, which was very nice, but wow, I'm just confused about how that even happened. read more

The best place to go to bring your family for Sunday breakfast. We had the most amazing waitress she was so patient and kind with such a friendly smile. Our food was perfect. Cooked perfectly and it was very hot. She kept our drinks full and cleared our plates as we finished. Even offered us dessert offered us buy 3 muffins get 3 free so we brought those home and they were delicious very fresh could tell they were just baked! What strikes me regarding this restaurant is the service. The staff here are very helpful, prompt, accommodating, and friendly. The menu is filled with interesting and varied choices.
