We stopped today for a late breakfast. We both ordered a Granny's omelet. My wife ordered a muffin to go from her meal. The waitress had no idea that u get a muffin or pancakes with the meal which could have been because she was new. I ordered an omelet with pancakes. The thermos of coffee we were given had not been cleaned for some time or had the salt shaker. The food was slow to be delivered to us. I neglected to get a photo of our omelettes which were put on our plates with cheese sauce doused over them. I had to ask for pancake syrup a couple times when our food was brought before our waitress finally got that she needed to bring that to our table yet. As I completed my meal, the waitress finally returned asking if everything was okay as she put the bill on the table- if things weren't okay- it was too late to correct it. I had to ask her to bring my wife's muffin which she finally did. We have been eating these omelettes for several decades and these had to be about the worst we have ever had. The service we received today was almost nonexistent- took the order and barely brought what we ordered as we had to ask numerous times to get what we ordered. I used the men's room and saw that it was filthy. Needed a good cleaning of the floors and toilets. From our overall experience, we will not be back. read more

Two for two! Excellent service!! This time, Robin was our waitperson. She treated us well, checking back several times. Food was hot upon arrival. Our server was awesome!!! ------- AMAZING!!! First time dinning in post Covid. We were seated right away by 315 Christin. The restaurant was clean and fresh. There were not many people yet. The seating was set for every other table. Christin was our server as well. This girl get points for outstanding customer service, appropriate friendliness and hospitality. What a sweetheart. I would recruit her in a heartbeat. I have never had a piece of cherry pie with only 2 cherries . It had nothing inside I was eating two pieces of crust. No napkins and no service after the pie was served not even to bring us the ticket to pay at the front counter. Went we went to pay the gal was not able to take our money until she found the waitress that served us and thereafter the run around started and she couldn't take the money so we could leave because she had to log it under a server. I know there are staffing issues durning COVID, but that's no excuse for not updating the website. When eating there in the past have had good food and service. read more

If I could give it a negative review I would. We waited for 45 minutes to be seated. After ordering we waited 45 more minutes to get food. The restaurant was not busy. When we got the food it was mostly cold and my eggs had two hairs in it. The waiter was really kind but whoever is cooking should be fired. read more

Went to Perkins. We dressed casual, ya know, swim shorts and tank, we were going swimming directly after. They immediately ignored us. Had to wait 10 mins to be seated, they walked by us repeatedly, counter person ignored us. Then finally, they come to seat us, the waitress shouted at the one seating us, "put them somewhere in green". She placed us at a booth that had food all over the seat, I had to brush it off and she rolled her eyes at me. Then she ignored us for 20 minutes catering to rich prom dress kids with dates. 8 of them. Then finally she took our order. In a very gruff and rude manor. Then the kids left ten minutes later. None of them left a tip. Karma ladies. Don't judge a book by the cover. They favored the well dress, well off looking kids, and ignored us repeatedly. They were constantly hovering around that table offer them refills and asking what they needed. While we waited 30 mins to get our order taken. (There was 4 waitress' running about and three tables active, including us) The reason we know the whole table left no tip? Two waitress' went on a rant as they cleared the table, trash talking the fancy teenagers for not leaving them a tip. We found that very amusing. My inner cranky self wanted to leave them a $1 tip for the subpar service, but we left them a $9 tip. We usually tip better. But, they were just awful. If grandma eats here, so can you. Three syrups: the holy trinity. Pro Tip: skip the half priced pie slices and go straight for the skill crane. Think you got the chops for skill crane? Better gas your body up with some carbs and coffee. Try the pancakes, the calories are listed on the menu. Don't confuse them with prices. Wait staff is always prompt & friendly and wait times are not very long. Several dessert options readily available at the checkout counter. Several food options lack flavor (super bland) but portion sizes are ok. Perkins seems to gather an "older" crowd whereas younger folks are normally run into at Applebees and other local options. We went to this place because it was right next door to our hotel, and we were very tired after a week of driving all over rural Minnesota. We knew what to expect here, and we got that, maybe even less. Perkins, in case you do not know, caters to the "meat eating" crowd. There are very few menu choices that do not include meat or meat products in some way, shape or form. But, having dined her before, I thought I could have a baked potato and a salad. I could not. I ordered the baked potato, but I was informed that they were "sold out." It was only about 7:00 p.m. Expect that kind of thing in this area of the country. I get the feeling they aren't real big on baked potatoes. So, I ordered the Tater Tots instead. My Tots were not cooked completely. A good tot needs to be firm and brown on the outside, and tender on the inside. It should be able to be picked up with a fork. Mine fell apart when I tried to do that. Also, the waitress never brought me any catsup. How does one eat tots without catsup? None of this was extraordinary, or unexpected. As I said before, we knew what to expect. What was surprising, however, was how many people were running around the place, but how few of them were actually attending to people. They were busy cleaning up, ( I guess they had a wild, dinner rush that ate up all the baked potatoes), but, for whatever reason, it seemed more like we were there just before closing than at time for a late dinner. I love their attention to cleanliness, but they ought to attend to customers, too. To tell the truth, most of the time I was there, (even paying my bill), I felt invisible, as if I were walking through a dream. Yeah, I know they were probably tired from working all day, and, it's OK because they'd never seen me before, and they knew they'd probably never see me again. This place is OK if you like Perkin's food, and you want to dine there. They have a reasonable facsimile of what you can expect from a chain. By far the worst service I have had. I am a sever back in Wisconsin but this was unreal. Waited 5 minutes to be seated while other workers looked at us. Sat down got our drinks. Waited on the server for another 5 minutes. She wasn't the one who brought out food. Only checked on us once while she brought dirty dishes from another table to our table. The sat there for 10 minutes waiting for our bill. Gave up and had to go to the front to get it. Also there were ants all over our table. Never going back to really service like that. read more

Hubby and I took a quick weekend away to LaCrosse. On our way through Red Wing we decided to stop at Perkins. We were seated right away and our host got us coffee and water as requested. That was it. No one came back to our table to take our order. Several wait staff walked around us, no one even acknowledged our existence. We waited about 10 minutes while being ignored, then decided to leave. Hubby went to pay for our coffee, the manager gave it to us on the house after he told her why we were leaving. I thought it was McDonald's. The manager, or so I thought, took my order pointed to her on menu picture and a different waitress brought the wrong food twice. Upon entering the restaurant we were politely greeted, taken to a table, given water, told our server would be right with us. While we waited to order two other tables we're seated and 3 different servers passed our table several times. I have always liked Perkins as a chain in the past and even when I moved to Red Wing, MN in August of 2018, I had good experiences at their Perkins location the first couple of times, but I've been there about 6 times since and every time I have a bad experience. Either the food is poorly made or the servers give bad service or they upcharge too high for things. Like really? $5.18 for two pieces of toast and some coffee when the two pieces of bacon two pancakes and 1 egg is $4.99. I don't know if there are major corporate changes in the chain in the last 9 months that have brought on this very noticeable difference in service and quality of food and pricing but today is for sure the last time I will ever go to the Perkins in this town and I live here, not just passing through, so you are losing alot of business, not just from me but from all the people I know in this town who I will also convince not to go here. read more
